Since I now know that I'm having a boy, I now also know the name. William Nicholas [Single syllable English last name]. Nicholas is what DH picked after his grandfather, but there is some debate about the spelling still. Her said he wanted "the Greek spelling" but then gave me the Latin spelling, so IDK. Going to have to check with MIL to get the real spelling.
Me:32 DH:45 DSD: 20 DSS: 18 Team green baby due: Aug 6th, 2018
I still don't know the sex of this baby but the other day I decided I liked the name "Tessa." It may be a guilty pleasure name, tbh, because I don't know how well-received it would be but I do think it's cute.
@jsnakehole DH thought Darth Vader, too, but he likes the name. It’s one of the first we agree on.
@calimom2524 apparently My Girl is the only place it’s spelled Vada. I did a quick search of the name board and looks like Veda is the generally accepted spelling. Just wondering if people would always pronounce it “Vee-duh.”
@Firemanswife11 I like Tessa too! I have to warn you though, I have a friend with a Tessa and I totally sing Tessa May, Tessa May oooh laaa la when I see her (like the Tresemme comercials?) But her middle name is May too so it is just too suiting. She laughs and smiles every time.
Hahaha @livinthesunnylife that is perfect!!! We're thinking Ruth or June or something along those lines for a middle name. Now I have Tessa May, Tessa May, Oooo la la stuck in my head.
@F47 I've always seen it spelled Veda. I love that name. I also would pronounce it Vay-Duh. I love the name Vera too, if you want something similar.
Tessa is my SIL's name and she's kind of a bitch so that name is ruined for me now I used to love it though!

@elsieisamoocow I love Vera, but H doesn’t, sadly. It was even his grandmother’s name!
Aw man! That would be so perfect.

Help! Now that we are officially team blue, I need suggestions for traditional-ish one syllable boy names that we can use for a middle name. I keep getting stuck on James and then can't think of anything else. I say traditional-ish because we really like vintage/classic names, but the one syllable options are really limited so I'm open to hearing other suggestions too. Not a fan of Cade/Cale/Jax style names, which seems to be all that I can find on google. Hit me with your ideas!
@juliebird6 i think John is okay as a full name, but i agree about Dan, Tom, Chris, Nick, and Joe. Somehow feels more informal to me as they seem like nicknames for longer names. I know people use them as full names, but that is NMS.
Here's why I don't go to babycenter: (c&p from the thread)
Can you help me come up with a list of strong/masculine names that
are one syllable? Which one(s) do you think are the most masculine?
Here is what I already have:
@calimom2524 We do actually call DD by her first and middle name all the time, literally daily. Her name is two syllables with a one syllable middle name, which is why we were trying to follow that cadence. It might not work for a boy and that's okay, but just wanted to see what I can come up with as a place to start.
I saw a post on FB the other day in one of my mom groups where the baby boy's name was Branch. Like, from trolls.
@juliebird6 I actually say DS2's full name all the time too but I just mean more like at school and stuff, most of their friends won't use it nor will their teachers. But I totally get it! I like my brother's name and always call him Daniel Joe, mostly because it annoys him.
@calimom2524 I've encountered a few Branch's out west, in Wyoming/Montana. It's also the name of a character in Longmire. It's certainly unconventional, but not too far out there. I wonder if it's a "frontier" type of name, like Wyatt, I don't encounter it too much over here east of the Mississippi either.
We also use DS's first and MN a lot, so I get what you mean about wanting to follow suit @juliebird6.
I think John is definitely a stand alone MN. My co-worker just used Chris for her DS after her dad because he was just "Chris" not Christopher and I think that works, too. I'm also a huge fan of James, but I'm biased because it was my grandpa and uncle's names (both deceased) and what we are using for MN this time around
@calimom2524 I have a friend with a Ridge, which I thought was weird at first but it seems cute now and suits him. Bridge reminds me of like the dental guard kind of bridge, poor kid.
Re: Names you actually want opinions on
@elsieisamoocow I like Felix a lot!
