Adding #2 was way harder than I thought it would be. I cried every night for the first two weeks. (DH works 630-12) Bedtime was all on me with a 2 year old and a newborn. DD needed to be fed, and DS was not adjusting well because he wasn’t the only anymore. I’m hoping #3 is better. I do have an 8 year old SD who is here 3 weekends a month and she is a HUGE help with her younger sibilings.
Those work hours would be tough! Thank goodness for your SD My husband is home in the evenings, but he does travel frequently so then it’s just me because we don’t have family nearby. Sooooo we’ll see how that goes lol
I'd like to weigh in on the transition but my crazy @ss decided to wait 10yrs before adding the second and another 12 before adding the 3rd! Probably not the smartest move since I'll be parenting children under 18 for a total of 40 yrs and the 3rd will likely not move out until I'm nearing 60 yrs old. WHAT?!?! God help me! Anyways, I've loved it! My older child has always helped with her younger sib and I literally have a built in babysitter by the time the younger is a toddler. Especially helpful since I don't have family nearby. My SO has a great schedule for being a hands-on daddy but also travels a lot so we make it work.
My best advice to you all is to not let the mommy guilt get the best of you, laugh often (even and especially if it's at your crazy mom self) and try your heardest to get some "me" time- it will be your ONLY saving grace to stay sane.
@rosalie0208 nursing #2 kind of turned into communal cuddle time. All three of us would sit in a big armchair and cuddle while one nursed and the other either played on the tablet or watched tv. Little tricky at first but we all got the hang of it quickly.
@neeraja_k sounds exactly like rlp to me. In the beginning, if I remember correctly, it starts out lower and than progressively gets higher as the uterus grows.
This question isn't even remotely related to pregnancy but maybe some one can help me! So I have 2 boys close in age who currently attend the same school but in different classrooms. Most of the kids in the school know each other. DS1 was invited to a birthday party this weekend for a kid in his class and the mom said DS2 can come also. Does this mean 1 present from both of my kids or 1 present from each of my kids? I feel silly even asking this but I'm new to this whole protocol thing! The politics of children's schools are insane, y'all.
@calimom2524 I haven't been in that situation, but if I were the hostess, I would definitely not expect two gifts.(actually, I don't think anyone should ever expect gifts... but that's a different conversation!!) One gift, signed from both kids or the whole family.
Thanks, ladies! I guess I look at it kind of like a wedding perspective (which I didn't really have so I don't know why I do that lol) but like they pay for my kid(s) to eat and whatever venue they choose so my kid should pay their "ticket price" by reciprocating with a gift. He will be getting one gift from both boys!
@calimom2524 Definitely not any where near the cost comparison of a wedding unless your boys are going to indulge at the birthday party open bar (totally kidding)

Knowing my kids, if there was an open bar, they would totes take advantage.
@babybeanmetcalf thank you! Being pregnant with a toddler is definitely a bit more challenging than being pregnant without one, but it’s worth it it! I think it sounds like you planned your babies brilliantly....you have help plus you don’t have multiple babies in diapers at once! Genius lol
Another question on going from 1 to 2. DS will just have turned 2 in July when this one is born. He’s still nursing ~4 times a day and I can’t imagine he’ll have completely weaned when the new baby comes. Does anyone have experience tandem nursing and did it affect your toddler significantly having to share that time/seeing the new baby nurse all the time?

No advice, but I’m in the same boat! From what I hear, sometimes the toddler will want to nurse more because the baby will nurse more. Totally doable, but possibly annoying. I think there would be more positives than negatives. A nursing toddler can help your milk supply, help get out clogs, and they won’t have to feel jealous of the baby if you’re still nursing them, too.
@kburg15 I’m in the same boat too....at this point, I’m pretty sure even if DD weaned over the next few months she’d remember what it was as soon as she saw the new baby nursing and want to join in. She’ll turn two in June...
DD1 self weaned while I was pregnant with DD2. They are just short of 2 years apart. After she turned 1 I was only nursing her twice a day, after school and before bed, and she dropped one and then the other by about halfway through my pregnancy. Not sure if she didn't like the taste anymore or if my supply had diminished too much, but 20ish weeks later when I started nursing DD2, DD1 had no recollection of ever having nursed herself and wasn't interested in starting again.
This is more of a bump question, but figured I’d put it here if anyone can answer! I hit 11 weeks this week, and no longer get a daily “this is how big baby is” when I open the app. Does that update stop after 11 weeks? My app crashed this week and I had to reload everything, so I wasn’t sure if the update just stopped or my app crashing had something to do with it. I loved the daily update and am bummed it is gone! DH and I used to wake up and look to see what baby was today!
@kc0711 I think is has to do with how development slows around 10-11 weeks. Most changes now can be easily put into a weekly update, so dailies stop. At least that’s what I remember from previous pregnancies.

Oh totally. I just loosened the strap of the side I was going to nurse on so he had a little bit more room, whipped out the boob, and done.
Thanks! I’m definitely going to be trying that...with the first, it’s all quiet nursing sessions full of cuddles and chill time. I feel like number two will be shoving the boob in his or her mouth while constantly chasing the first one!
Look into a ring sling, too. We have a couple of carriers, but the ring sling is my favorite for nursing on the go. You still have to support the head with one hand, but it seemed so comfortable for DS2.
Anyone taking elderberry syrup for immune support? My really, really, REALLY stupid sister went to lunch with us yesterday while SUPER contagious with the flu. She acted fine at lunch and then called later saying she was taking herself to the ER. She's a crazy loon anyway, so this isn't surprising behavior, but WE ALL SHARED FOOD. So now I am on the edge of my seat, worried to death because I have asthma and so does my 3yo. I emailed my doctor to ask if it's okay, but I have definitely already started taking it. I mean, I also have Tamiflu but I definitely think that's a chemical poo storm that I don't want to touch.
@Firemanswife11 I've taken it in the past and the years I took it religiously I recall that I never got sick from those around me. Also try L-Lysine, it helps screw up the virus replication process so if you do get it it dramatically reduces the severity and duration.
@neeraja_k thanks. Doctor finally called. He wants me on Tamiflu (gag) so I am going to go get that in a little bit. So disappointed. But he also told me that taking the elderberry was up to me, as he didn't know much about it, though didn't seem concerned.
@Firemanswife11 my dr did tell me if I came into close contact with anyone with confirmed flu to call so she could give me tamiflu. Hopefully you stay healthy!
@Firemanswife11 I accidentally exposed my cousin to the flu while she was pregnant last year (my PCP told me it was just a really bad cold, and when I didn't get better I went to a different doctor and was told I had the flu). She also has asthma and had other complications and she was fine.
I know that's totally anecdotal, but hopefully it relieves a little anxiety!

So I’m already maxing out the daily dose of unisom+b6. Does that mean diclegis won’t do more for me? I imagine I’d feel more nausea if I wasn’t taking it, I’m just wondering if it’s worth getting the more expensive prescription version or not.
No idea @lalala2004 but I’m SO sorry you are still suffering. Are you throwing up a lot, feeling terrible?
mines been slowly improving but then just when u think I can relax in the morning my body is like oh no no no... this morning I was dry heaving over the sink for a while. Fun times.

I’m not throwing up, but before I took the unisom+b6 I felt like I was going to throw up all day. Now I just feel mildly nauseous all day.
@lalala2004 I’m not sure what the difference in dosing is. I do know last Friday I was starting to feel better so I didn’t take my Diclegis and I threw up twice on Saturday. I take 2 Diclegis every night and feel decent most of the day. At night I still get a bit nauseous but don’t throw up. Its expensive but totally worth it to me
@lalala2004 I was taking unisom+B6 and didn't feel like it was helping much, but Diceglis has been a game changer. I never threw up, but felt right on the verge of it all day long. With the Diceglis I don't feel nauseous except for a little in the evenings
Ok so the Diceglis is definitely helping me sleep better and much less naush but I think its messing with my stomach which pregnancy already does. (also for ladies wondering about price insurance covered mine my copay was low) after being on it for 2/3 weeks I think I'm going to have to quit it. Anyone else having stomach issues on it?
DS born 04/22/15, Pregnant again 03/01/17 however loss due to PPROM at 20+6 weeks now TTC rainbow
