I don't think baby can actually move enough at this point that you would feel it. I don't think that happens until 13ish weeks just from a developmental standpoint. That said, I felt movement super early with DS (15 weeks), and everyone told me I was crazy, but it felt the same once I knew for sure it was actual kicks, so IDK.

Keep us updated @jsnakehole. I feel like I am already having RLP sometimes, especially when I sneeze. I think there are all sorts of explanations for cramps/twinges at this point, but it will be good to get reassurance that everything is okay!

The OB actually told me yesterday I would feel it sooner this time. But since I had the placenta in the way and didn't feel it forever last time, I'm not sure what "earlier" means...lol
My first was anterior placenta also, so I felt one single kick at 18 weeks and then nothing else until at least halfway. With number two, I confirmed that the placenta was posterior at 12 weeks and I felt some flutters at maybe 16 or 17 weeks? Still not super early though. My second was smaller too so I didn't feel regular daily movement until almost the third tri.
I might also just not be very observant though haha.
@delujm0 Thanks for helping me with the right words. You know, placenta in the way.
yeah in the beginning I was sad that I couldn't feel anything like everyone else. But then later when he liked to kick me and make me have to pee all night I was like....hm....maybe this placenta was a good thing?
@jsnakehole good luck! I had terrible cramps with my first but it was always nothing because I never spotted or anything. Usually they were brought on by over doing it with activities or not enough water.
It’s so easy to get overwhelmed with all the info out there on google. It’s funny so many of our moms said the same thing about too much information because mine said it, too. I definitely recommend taking a break from it, especially after baby comes. You’ll drive yourself nuts.
@livinthesunnylife was your first sunny side up as well? Mine was, and I've read that it's more common for that to happen with anterior placenta. I was so pumped when the second one was posterior, and she came out head own. My doctor told me after the first one (that I had to push out for over 2.5 hours) that if the second one was face down like she should be, she would basically fall right out of me, and that was accurate. I pushed through two contractions for all of 5 minutes and she was out. She was also smaller though, and has her dad's tiny pin-head. ;-)
@delujm0 Early on he was, but he flipped correctly and then (don't laugh) my doula sent me to this hokey chiropractor that manipulated that baby into the perfect position by the time he was ready to come out.
@livinthesunnylife lucky. mine was in "perfect position" when I had an ultrasound about 5 days before I went into labor, but by that time she had moved. The back labor...OMG. I actually wasn't sure I was in labor with DD2 because I was like "I mean I'm having contractions but they don't hurt enough to be real" based on what it felt like the first time. it was real though haha.
What's the general sentiment on coloring hair while pregnant? I'm going to ask my doctor next week, but wondering if anyone has any other info. I have gray hairs that are really starting to bother me.
@vinerie I colored my hair a couple of weeks ago and my hair stylist basically said as long as you aren't eating the hair color you're safe. Definitely check with your OB but that's one of the "rules" I've never followed.
@vinerie I asked my stylist while we were TTC and she said it's perfectly safe while pregnant. I might still ask my OB, but realistically I'm not going to stop dying my hair. My stylist did say it could be harder to cover up greys or go lighter because your hair reacts differently to the chemicals when you're pregnant.
@livinthesunnylife my mom had that with me. I actually came out face up, and my forehead was cut when my mom got an episiotomy. (Fun fact: the doctor who did that is the ex-father-in-law of Carla from the reality TV show, 'Mob Wives').

My son was born with a scar on his forehead from scraping on my cervix. Sunny side up is no fun.
At what stage did your nipples and areolas start changing? I swear mine are different already at 8w, but my husband thinks I'm daft. You'd think he'd notice any difference as much as he stares at them.
To me the skin around the areolas is starting to look like the color is bleeding (like water colors) past the old border, and they're puffier around the nipples. And I've got permanent hard nipples now, which with the super sensitivity is agonizing at times. I've never experienced this problem before, except when aroused, so it's...interesting.

All in all I find the little changes fascinating.
Mine start changing like the day of BFP. They get bigger and peel. Now they’ve already started leaking. Small amounts. I’ve nursed my babies. So I feel like once you’ve done that, your boobs just know what To do. And prepare at BFP lol!
Sadly, they also completely lose sensitivity at BFP. My boobs are sore. But my nips are dead to the world. Again. I feel like they are prepping. Get ready ladies. Lol.
@neeraja_k mine never changed really until I began to BF!
My DS was also sunny side up during labor, he was born with a cephalohematoma from banging up against my pubic bone. It was a tennis ball sized lump on his head, not dangerous, looked a lot worse than it actually was, but took several weeks to go down! Also had all back labour, that was interesting!
@neeraja_k mine didn't really change at all during pregnancy. I was honestly worried I would have issues breastfeeding because other than my boobs being a little bigger nothing changed.
Thankfully I didn't have any issues but I think this is one of those things where it's totally different for everyone. My SIL's we're different from week 4.

Mine haven't changed at all yet (9+2). My boobs are swollen and heavy and my nipples are sensitive but that's it. I have really small areolas and I was kind of looking forward to them changing.

I actually can't believe DD1 came out looking as good as she did. She was trapped behind my pubic bone for 2 hours but came out without a mark on her. She almost looked like a c section baby. It was weird. She was only 7+7 and her head has always been straight 50th percentile so I guess that helped? I tore a bit but wasn't cut. I was just fucking exhausted after 2.5 hours of pushing. And she was born at 11:55pm after 14 hours of straight up back labor, the first 8 hours of which were pre-epidural. The drive to the hospital was miserable. I'm going to be mad if that happens again this time!
...But not as mad as I'll be if this kid is breech. I've delivered 2 vaginally so that area has already been destroyed, I'd like to keep my abs in tact if at all possible haha.

Haha I swear I could have almost written this word for word. The only change to my story is the 27 hours of labor (13 pre-epidural) but from the nightmares I've heard I am VERY thankful I didn't have back labor, y'all are champs with that. I can say though with DS2 I'm actually thankful I was induced because my labor and delivery felt like a vacation compared to DS1.
At the doctors. Just got to see baby- had a heartbeat of 121 at 7w5d. The ultrasound tech said I have an ovarian cyst that might be the source of the discomfort. Just waiting to see the doctor really quickly, but feeling relieved.

So, chair massages, yea or nay? Google seems to say it's ok. (Also, I'll obv ask my doc at my appt next week) My girlfriends are planning a day to the korean spa, but they don't do pre-natal massages. I probably can't go in most of the sauna rooms with them either. But they have a few moderate temp saunas that will probably be ok.
@neeraja_k I want to say early second tri for me? You will definitely notice it when it fully happens. At least I did--mine got a lot darker! I never noticed when they went back to their regular light color, though. But one day I looked down and was like "oh."
@neeraja_k I can’t remember exactly when they changed, so I’m with @vinerie on this one....one day I remember looking down and thinking what the?! I’m still nursing DD atm so I’m not sure if that will change the timeline this time around. All I know is when she latches on my poor, super sore nipples I have to grit my teeth for a sec lol
Is anyone who is finding out the sex of the baby through the blood test planning on waiting to open results or asking for results to be written down to read at a different/more special time? Finding out randomly seems anticlimactic. I don’t know if this is even an option.

I am going to try to do this, my doctor said it is doable (albeit a pain). We are doing a reveal with family at DH's insistence, and he would prefer me to find out then versus earlier. I am not making any promises but am going to at least try to do it for him.

I'm doing the blood test, but team green. I had a dream that they didn't leave out the sex reveal in the results and told me I'm having a girl. Now I'm paranoid that it's going to get spoiled for me before the birth. The way the results come in at my Dr. office they can read the results to you, and leave out whatever info you'd prefer not to have yet. Should absolutely be possible, just ask.

@multifariousmermaid I made sure to pick a birth center last time that had it just to be 'safe' but ended up not even using it. Didn't even cross my mind during labor to be honest, but it was nice to feel like I had a back up plan and relaxed me before hand for sure. But now my biggie is picking a place with a midwife I jive with, I felt like this made a huge difference for me. I had one of the midwifes leave the room during labor because she was stressing me out, but the other one was great. After that is was smooth sailing.
...speaking of skin care ladies be sure to put whatever your using for stretching on your back, boobs and thighs too. I put it only on my belly and although I love my stretch marks on my thighs, it never occurred to me to put it there lol. Anywhere your body is fluctuating weight (gaining or loosing) put it there. and not to be to cheesy, but then whatever becomes of it wear those stripes proud.
@derbysquirrel I haven’t decided if we are going to find out or not yet but one of my reasons towards finding out is so that it doesn’t accidentally get revealed to me haha. They always have me go in for extra scans because I have hypothyroidism so it’s just that many more chances a tech will accidentally slip up.
@Danelle+Miguel all the cream in the world won't prevent stretch marks though
@derbysquirrel I could be wrong but I believe when you elect to not find out the sex then it won't be on the report so your office won't be able to mess up anyway! That's what happened with us the last time anyway.
@ecwk I was just thinking that.... There's no such thing as cream to prevent stretch marks. However, I was super itchy last time so I oiled the heck up every morning and it was magical amazingness. Use whatever makes you comfortable, but don't think you won't get stretch marks.
As far as I am aware the only thing that may help prevent stretch marks is staying hydrated. Meaning drinking water, not slathering on cream. The rest is largely determined by genetics. Creams can help with itching and irritation, though.

I’ve always got stretch marks. And after about a year. They disappear. Now, some ladies get them really bad. Usually with multiples. Maybe? Mine are mostly underside of boobs and love handle area. Oh and upper thigh. But they seriously go away. Or are very hard to see.
Maybe so. I know we can't prevent them really and genetics and water both play a too. But I was surprised by my thigh ones, it didn't even cross my mind before.
