I’ve never had morning sickness with any of my pregnancies... *ducks to avoid flying objects* I totally feel for all you ladies who do. Being nauseated is the worst! I’m just here to say, hello, sore boobs and holy heartburn, Batman! Heartburn has always been my pregnancy tell if I didn’t already have a BFP, I would certainly know it now! Ouch!
Just all this talk of food is making me nauseous. I might need to get some preggie pops or ginger candy this time. I barely had nausea in my first pregnancy and if I ate it went away. Of course, I was eating a ton of carbs back then. I’m 6 weeks today and it’s like my body said “You are super pregnant, now! Hormones, attack!!!!”
Ginger chews have been a life saver. I wake up at night nauseous and I are up in the morning nauseous. It’s better than puking my brains out so I am thankful even though being nauseous, sucks ballz.

I know I shouldn’t complain because I never throw up, but it’s frustrating getting stuck in the cycle of nothing sounding good to eat, but if you don’t eat you just get more nauseous!
@pintobean77 I didn’t have any when I was pregnant with DS. I only really had sore boobs, and then a little heartburn and hip pain in the second tri. It was such an enjoyable pregnancy. Now I just feel like poo...
5weeks1day -TERRIBLE heartburn (I can’t even look at something sweet without getting it and I had this before I knew I was pregnant) -sore boobs -exhaustion -light nausea -cramping (drinking lots of water and resting helps them go away) -basically wake up everyday feeling hungover
@cdougan0903 it’s funny that you mention that because I woke up this morning thinking “why do I feel like I have a hangover?!” Ugh, this pregnancy has not been fun so far.
I feel you all in the heartburn. I tend to get it too starting around 12/13 weeks (bad that is it starts sooner). I’ve been on high dose rx meds by the 3rd tri, which are a lifesaver and safe - don’t suffer if it gets to that point (and it isn’t safe to eat too many tums). I still couldn’t eat sweets but it helped a ton.
i always said I got my payback for no ms with the heartburn! Except this pregnancy?? Yep. MS. And I doubt that means I’ll be spared the heartburn later ugh
I hate when people say this. My heartburn was terrible and my son was practically bald. There is no correlation.
Saaaaaaame. Mine was horriblue. My kids all had a small or normal amount of hair. Nothing remarkable. I’m convinced that for me it’s because in part of my anatomy. I’m extremely short waisted so I think things get swuished more.
It really frustrated me too, having extremely bad heartburn. It feels like it minimized what was a miserable side effect, where I couldn’t sleep, couldn’t eat, couldn’t drink water without almost vomiting to a mere old wives tale.
It it would be like saying to someone with really bad morning sickness who is throwing up constantly “oh I guess you’re having a girl!”
@pghctwife I agree it minimizes it. Heartburn is the worst. I was taking Zantac twice a day plus tums of top of that when needed and it would still happen. Even when I drank water. “At least your kid will have a lot of hair?” No. Untrue, and doesn’t make it any less shitty. At least mine hasn’t started yet. I was much farther along last time.
@lalala2004 yep. I was on high dose rx meds. Thank god for them!!
and water is so bad for heartburn which is... hard. And it sure seemed unfair that my heartburn prevented my pregnant self from eating annny chocolate. In the hospital each time I requested candy and cookies lol
I can smell my laundry from my bed (about 15 feet away)...somewhere in there is a sour rag! Yuck! I can smell dirt off a potato from the other side of the kitchen. And, heart breaking, I bought myself some smoked trout, which is usually a real treat for myself, bit it tasted like dirt to me and so DH ate it, happily I might add.
@mrsbubbles-2 I totally feel you, I keep waking up about 3am. I’ve decided just to go with it and nap later.
I feel more nauseated at night too, I think it has to do with exhaustion after doing too many things all day. I’m trying to remind myself I need to take more breaks during the day. My boobs hurt and are just now starting to get bigger. I’m very bloated and feel like I look pregnant already from being so bloated! My first doc appointment isn’t until 1/15...then I will announce our 2nd pregnancy to others!
@electrokate All of those symptoms are so totally normal! I'm only 4 weeks and a few days and I've been feeling breathless all day. It's so weird! Brown spotting is normal too in most cases, but if it turns red try to see your doctor ASAP. Hope all the confusion with your insurance gets worked out soon!
Symptoms come and go but the most obvious is the exhaustion. Holy cow, I am so tired. I have been napping 2 or more hours every day I am not at work. It's like my eyelids have weights on them. Been a bit distracted by Christmas festivities so I haven't noticed as much cramping but I remember it being more common the first couple of weeks with my first pregnancy so I guess it's normal that it's going away...ish. Thankfully my body seems to be getting used to the relaxin, too, so I'm not so freaking sore. Bad insomnia most nights and crazy vivid dreams. Nauseous mostly late morning to mid afternoon, thirsty and super hungry all the time. I could eat 6 huge meals a day. Did I mention I was tired? So tired.
I’m sure in part it’s a Christmas hangover but man I felt like crap today. Dry heaving at breakfast, spit my food out and hardly ate anything all day. A quarter of a bagel, sip of coffee, celery and carrots, and dinner - my leftover filet was so unappetizing. Not an aversion I choked a few bites down. Had a roll and carrots.
So different than my youngest with whom I craved meat, and had a rare roast beef sandwich every.day.
Ugh. ..I feel you guys on the exhaustion. It seems to be double or even triple the exhaustion I had with my son. Also the hormones. ..I'm just a big puddle of tears. The worst is the cramping. The cramps aren't necessarily intense they're just consistent and make me worry.
I’m 6w with my third; neither girls I had many symptoms, but I def felt queezy the last week and a half. Since about 2 days ago I’m not noticing it and I want to eat EVERYTHING. I had a massive amount of biscuits and gravy for breakfast and just ate two bowls of spaghetti. Looking forward to popcorn with my girls in a bit
yesterday I noticed a very very small amount of blood on my underwear and it’s continued into today when wiping. I don’t need a liner, and it’s brown (like the end of your period) so I’m trying not to stress. I never spotted with my other two
I hate when people say this. My heartburn was terrible and my son was practically bald. There is no correlation.
Nope, not minimizing heartburn at all. It isn’t to be taken literally. Although I had the worst of it and my daughter came out looking like a werewolf. No joke. we call her hair bear. My husband and I joke about it all the time because there had to be some consolation for how terrible I felt. I just had my first bout of it today and thought I was going to have a full on panic attack. I figured it was too early to already be experiencing it, but nope it was in full affect. No more spicy food/fried food for me. There goes to thinking this pregnancy was going to be different.
Morning sickness had commenced. I feel like crap for the first few hours of the day, then feel pretty solid through the afternoon, and than nauseous again at night. It's been a few days, and I'm already over it.
Actually, as crazy as it sounds, the heartburn/hair myth has some data backing it up: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/17150070/ It looks like there's just one small study. They suspect the same hormones are responsible for heartburn and hair growth.
And of course, it's an association, so that means there's an overall trend when looking at a group, but there's no guarantee for any individual.
@Secretstapler I will say that I had horrible heartburn with DD, and she was born VERY hairy. So, I'm a believer in the OWT for now. We'll see how it plays out with #2.
Add me to the breathlessness club. Otherwise not much symptom wise here. My stomach feels a bit "off" and nothing sounds good, no nausea anymore. I do get really tired early in the day though.
Hey ladies, Is anyone getting back pain? I’m only 5 weeks but my back is killing me.
I get tailbone/lower back pain very easily. I go to the chiropractor monthly, but I may have to bump it up to biweekly before too long. Relaxin causes your joints to misalign much easier.
4 weeks and 1 day...mostly having sore breast, gas and some cramping. Also having what my sis calls swamp crouch. If you have it, you know what I'm referring to.
I feel so sick it's untrue. I think I'm going to need to call someone in the morning food is not happening and water isn't going too well either. It wasn't this bad this soon last time. I'm glad people have mentioned breathlessness too. I thought it was in my head.
Oh my goodness- I do not remember being THIS tired when I was pregnant with DD. This pregnancy is just completely wearing me down! I have been putting my daughter down for a nap everyday and napping myself while she is asleep, I am just that tired!! I am also having more consistent “morning sickness” that is more like all-day sickness- I only had minimal morning sickness with DD. This pregnancy is wearing me down.... can’t wait until this first trimester is over!!!
I’ve been so exhausted this time around. I was so sick with my first two I don’t remember the exhaustion. Fingers crossed the MS hasn’t started yet and hoping it stays that way. Although some aversions to certain foods. Baby doesn’t like fast food. Lol. My first one that’s all I could stomach which I thought was odd.
I don’t remember being this tired with my first either. Or this moody. Also who ever called it morning sickness was way off for me because I feel so much worse at night.
Does anyone else get restless legs? I got it with my first and have it again. It’s so annoying.
Ditto, to all the ladies feeling exhausted. I think part of why I dont remember being this tired is because I also didn’t have to take care of another child. I just had to worry about myself. I am sure that is impacting us as well. We can’t just worry about ourselves now that we have little ones. Not only am I dealing with being really tired but if I take a nap I wake up feeling like a bus hit me. I am often feeling hung over and not sure what that is about. I am definitely not drinking any alcohol. Ugh!
