I hope the gif works. I started a new thread since the other was 2 weeks old. Share your symptoms or ask questions about them here (as long as you are not seeking medical advice) Eta trying to get gif to work
So this morning for the first time I drink a carnation instant breakfast in bed before getting up… It worked pretty well helping hold off the morning gag fest and occasional puke. Took the edge off at least… Still felt kind of crappy.
Until, that is, my four-year-old threw up in a bowl which I watched patting his back… And then I cleaned the bowl out. The mere suggestion caused me to puke. Twice. Which is of course a lot less pleasant after I have food in my stomach that it is before I have food in my stomach as normal.
5 WK here and my legs are so sore. Its bizarre. I feel pretty good but sometimes I'm extremely hungry and after 2 bites I'm full. Other times absolutely nothing sounds good but no ms yet thankfully.
Morning sickness is officially here and I feel silly for being worried when I didn't have it. At least I know my triggers and avoiding carbs and sugar has made it more manageable.
@pghctwife I never thought about carnation in the morning, that seems like a great idea. Right now I'm drinking kefir (a drinkable yogurt) but it would be nice to have some carnation instant breakfast on hand in case I run out.
@pghctwife So sorry for your rough morning. Does your son have a stomach bug? Those are the worst! Hope you get some relief soon. @laufisch How far along are you? I can't remember when ms officially starts. That's really interesting about carbs and sugar being a trigger!
I'm only 4w1 but I've been feeling really hungry. Not sure if it's all in my head though since I'm still so early. Last night we had huge bowls of pho for dinner (which was meh, I don't get the hype with pho) and 2 hours later I was staaaarving and had to eat again.
@offtoneverland probably. It’s his first tear in public school (the preschool at the elem) abd he wasn’t in dc so seems to be catching every bug.
@laufisch it was my sisters idea! She threw up most mornings with my nephew triggered and part from hunger. I was always OK when I’m in bed and then once I’m up and moving I feel sick. It worked for her so she suggested it to help take the edge off
Ugh! I've caught a stomach bug on top of regular morning sickness. I feel absolutely terrible and am PRAYING my almost 2 year old DD doesn't get this crap in time for Christmas.
@offtoneverland I'm ravenous 90% of the time, queasy 10%. DH just dropped off two egg sandwiches and hash browns at school for me to eat. I've been having blood sugar drops where my hands will start shaking. No fun.

My boobs are SO SORE. Like I can hardly wear clothes they hurt so bad. I also still have this annoying cold I've had so every time I get into a coughing fit I gag because my reflex is so bad right now. Luckily I'm not crazy nauseous but since I can smell everything if I smell something I don't like then I feel like throwing up. Also, welcome excessive and insane tiredness. It's 8am and I want a nap.
@offtoneverland so I'm guessing I'm 7w because last time ms started at 6w last time and I started feeling sick last Friday. I have to guess because I'm breastfeeding so my cycle is super random right now.
If you get ms EAT PROTEIN. It will keep your blood sugar stable which will help with nausea spikes. Anyone who tells you to eat crackers lies. I have all day ms which basically feels like a horrible hangover.
@pghctwife thank you for sharing your sister's wisdom. I hope your little one feels better soon! Also hope your SO learns they need to clean up toddler puke next time
@laufisch he was on the toilet when it happened. Because of course lol. I informed him of the new rule going forward that if he’s Home he deals with vomit lol. I still have that like burning in the back of my throat from it.
I hear uou you on the protein. I do. But when im nauseous I can only eat what I can eat. Aka no sweets, mostly stuff like trisuits with cheddar.
@laufisch. YES. I was so anxious for the first week and a half because I wasn't feeling sick. And now I'm kicking myself for worrying instead of enjoying it. There is still a part of me that's glad it's here, though.
The only thing I've found that makes it go away is eating until I'm stuffed. But then it comes back an hour later, and I can hardly eat a full meal every hour.
ETA:. Also, my super big dinner gave me heartburn at bedtime, even 4 hours later. Sigh.
It’s crazy how NOT hungry I am. This didn’t happen with my previous 2. I just went to my daugher’s Preschool Christmas concert and realized I should probably pick up lunch on the way back to work. But I don’t want to eat at all
@laufisch I differ with you on the carbs things, but every body is different. With DS eggs, and meat especially made me sicker. I got plenty of protein in the form of peanut butter though. Same thing this time it seems. Which I am finding super frustrating because I would like to limit my carbs as much as possible since I'll likely end up with GD again.
I'm pretty nauseated all day around except right after I eat and by the end of the day my indigestion is horrible. I'm eating mostly peanut better toast, cheese and grill cheese. I can stomach meat in the evening but then the indigestion kicks in. My tiggers this time around seem to be dairy(milk and eggs specifically), except for cheese. Pregsomnia is hitting me hard this time which is not helping with the already tiredness. Oh and I almost took my husbands head off yesterday when he was playing with my nips, I didn't miss that symptom . Oh and this one is random because I don't remember is from last time, I am freezing like all the time. I doesn't seem to matter how many layers I have or blankets. DH even commented on how cold I feel.
Just all this talk of food is making me nauseous. I might need to get some preggie pops or ginger candy this time. I barely had nausea in my first pregnancy and if I ate it went away. Of course, I was eating a ton of carbs back then. I’m 6 weeks today and it’s like my body said “You are super pregnant, now! Hormones, attack!!!!”
@izmom28 same here the last week or so. It's weirding me out. I'm just not hungry. Ever. I even lost a couple of pounds (even though my boobs have already grown a full cup size), and I haven't thrown up or felt nauseous. Just don't want to eat. Trying to get in as many healthy calories as possible. Lots of nuts, avocados, and eggs. With DS, I gained 10 pounds during the first tri, and my doctor scolded me.

At 6w1d really not feeling any symptoms aside from some very mild breast tenderness. I had horrible ms my last pregnancy, so just waiting for that to set in
I’ve heard the whole protein argument too, but I cannot stomach meat in my first trimester. The best way I can explain it is that it tastes like saw dust in my mouth. I’m eating eggs almost daily, lots of almond butter, and cheese. I may try the instant carnation breakfast. That’s a good idea. Those have a lot of protein right? My doctor also suggested ensure.
ETA: I did eat fish yesterday and it was amazing but it was also fried.
Pregnancy wise. I feel great. I’m always super sick with my pregnancies. All have been girls (3). This time minimal sickness. Made me worry. But saw bean today and it’s doing great! So. I will chillax.
HOWEVER. I am just sick as a dog. Cough and congestion. OB gave me cough medicine with codiene. He said it will help me sleep too. Which just helps you get better quicker.
I'm super early into this one at only 3.5 weeks, but I'm already experiencing what my sister lovingly calls the swamp crouch ...had it pretty bad with my first so I'm not totally surprised. In fact, that is what tipped me off to the fact that I should test.
@thshaw lolol I think I know exactly what you mean by this and I'm in the same boat. WHY in the world does this happen?! This is definitely a new symptom for me this time around.
Also for those who have no symptoms- try not to worry! My last pregnancy I had no early symptoms. I'd have stretching pain and that was all until he started kicking. No symptoms is not a sign of issues. I hope that helps
Definitely more symptoms this pregnancy. I read that taking prenatal vitamins at night helps to reduce morning sickness and it seems to be working so far.
I’m trying to keep my cravings in check because I can’t afford to gain 50+ pounds again this time. So, the only craving I’m really indulging is spicy foods. Spicy foods help to curb my appetite and make me drink more water- so win-win!
No m/so yet, but some strong smell aversions. I'm not really hungry either, so I eat a little bit of something when it does sound good.
However my nose has not stopped running since my BFP. I'm not sick at all, but I'm blowing my nose like every time I turn around. I've also got the "swamp crotch" going on, had to start using panty liners, because a runny nose clearly wasn't enough moisture in my life.
Holy cow. You guys nailed the swamp crotch thing! @izmom28 I had zero appetite with my DD. I actually lost 5 pounds in my first tri cuz I couldn't stomach food.
I'm 5w5d and not much here besides some very mild breast tenderness and some tiredness. I felt mildly queasy this morning, but not enough to actually throw up. Trying to peel myself off the couch to go hop on the elliptical and it feels like I'm trying to climb Mt. Everest.
Yea it’s not even food aversions. Food still sounds awesome. I’m just not hungry. Which is probably good. I’ve overate the past few months. I’m starting this pregnancy heavier than I’d like.
Very bloated, nauseated all day, and no energy. Never had this with my other pregnancies. It does not matter if I eat, do not eat, or eat small snacks throughout the day. Hopefully it will pass soon.
Nauseated off and on all freaking day, bloated badly, and weird boob twinges. Just happy to be feeling these things but they make moving into our new house harder and also keeping the secret harder!!!
