Re: Questions w/o 11/27

  • @Knottie70796936 First, I'm sorry you feel like your news is going to be somehow not good news to your district manager, but screw her.  Who cares?  Especially since you are planning on lessening your role, I would think she would appreciate knowing in enough time to find a suitable full-time replacement for you before you go.  Also, I think it's important she hear from you rather than someone else.  Stress that you will continue to be committed to your current role and you appreciate the work and business within the company, which is why you do not want to leave completely but it is also important for you to find a balance between home and work.

If she doesn't like it, kick her in the shins and run!

  • @Duckie678 WTH! Outing you like that, really none if their business. Ugh.

I work from home and I'm going to visit my HQ next week. It's a super small company so unfortunately I don't have great benefits but I do have amazing flexibility. Which is why I left my previous job which paid more but left me completely in shambles due to stress.

The owners are two women so I'm thinking they'll be understanding even though I'm also very new - started in August!! DH has 8 weeks paid paternity and I have disability insurance plus some $ from the State so we will make it work. If I have to go back after 8 weeks for a couple of days a week it's ok, it might actually keep me sane! And the little can be right there with me all day, though we'll definitely get a sitter.

@Knottie78796936 My advice is to be as direct as possible and show flexibility in terms of being available to do anything in your power to make the transition smooth, as long as your physical conditions allow. If other people got back sooner that's their choice and you don't have to do the same
  • @kissableviv I totally agree. I was annoyed. I wasn't planning on saying anything until after new years. I'm thankful it was with my managers and no one else. I work with mostly males ( I am one of four women here in an office of 16) and a couple get pissy if I go to the bathroom and they have to answer their own damn phone calls for 5 minutes. They're gonna be real pissed when I'm not here for a couple months.
  • I have been having bleeding and today at the US they said I have subchorionic bleeding and to take it easy. Anyone else going through this? How intense are you bed resting? They didn't specifically tell me to be on bedrest, but said to relax and not lift my toddler as much. I know there are different severities, but I am just panicky now
  • Anyone else dealing with painful bloating? For a couple days I had mild cramping in my lower back and pelvis but today the pain is inline with my belly button, off to the left side. I'm definitely bloated as well (unbuttoned my pants within an hour of arriving at work) but I've never felt pain with bloating. Any ideas? 3rd baby and never experienced this before.

  • @Crystal321 I had an SCH last pregnancy and I was on pelvic rest and took time off work (I'm a nurse on a super busy floor). I also have one this time around...I haven't restricted my activity at all and I have not been on pelvic rest. So far, no difference in each bleed (except this one started with a massive clot where the other was just blood).

  • @comealongponds thanks for that. We have family photos scheduled for tomorrow and I am thinking of rescheduling. But it's also possible that I am overreacting lol
  • @limoncat My boss already knows. Basically it helps her solidify our plans for 2018 which need to be finalized this month. It helps her set the expectations for our board and to not over-promise anything. At least she can plan for me being out.

@Crystal321, I had a small SCH a week and a half or so ago, and was put on pelvic rest. I still went to work (and commute via a subway, so there was some walking involved). I also took one grocery store trip with my husband after a few days of "taking it easy." I was told no sex, no exercise (including walking more than 10-15 minutes), no lifting, but that I could otherwise go to work, etc. I suggest listening to your body, and if you start cramping or have more bleeding, to scale back further on your activities.
  • Pretty random question for the ladies that have made an Amazon Baby Registry.

Does it show up when you sign on to amazon to do regular shopping? I want to make mine, but my mom and I share an account and I haven't told her yet.
If there's no way for it to be hidden i'll just wait to make it until we tell her, which isn't too far away.

  • Guys. I know everyone was freaking out about not being able to swim after giving birth, but I’m a first timer over here and I’m FREAKED that you bleed for 6 WEEKS?! What?! How much are we talking??? Plz advise lol

Also, any recommendations for acne? I’m not sure what I can use and I have painful cysts like a 13 year old.

I didn't bleed for 6 weeks with my first. From what I remember it was like a funky gross period for a week after getting home from the hospital then another 2 weeks of light bleeding.

  • @runsomewhere Okay, that’s more of what I was expecting. I know everyone’s different, but the idea of 6 weeks is scary!

I think I was the one who said 6 weeks. First 2-3 were like a pretty decent period and the last 3 were light, to extremely light at the end. Not scary, just annoying more than anything.

  • @gspmom21 if both of your emails ate attached you'll get emails about stuff she would see. Also, I bet your recommended items would change a bit!
  • TMI? Is there TMI when pregnant lol....I think I have a yeast infection. I dont feel like calling the on call dr this late as it seems to have came on pretty quick. I did google that monistat is supposed to be safe but it obviously says to ask your ob. Has anyone heard anything different?

  • @busymommy23 I've had to use Monistat with every pregnancy now, it's safe. I would use the longest treatment you can though, they can be harder to treat during pregnancy.

Whoa this thread is rocking my world. My family spends almost every summer weekend in/around a body of water. Didn't even think of that restriction because DS was a late October baby. I'm assuming this applies regardless of type of birth, ie CS vs vag?
Ugh I didn’t think of this either!! Both my girls are fall/winter babies.

  • @limoncat I was hoping summer would be better than winter. I hated having to buy crazy expensive sweaters that never fit right, winter coats, and just feeling even bigger because of all the layers. Looks like summer will be it’s own beast.

@d_marie_23 I always joke that pregnancy is the best diet for me. MS hit hard with my first two and I actually never made it back up to my pre-pregnancy weight with #2.
I wish this was me! I get bad MS and all I want are carbs to help ease it. I gained so much weight durimg both pregnancies. Luckily I’ve been able to lose it but I’d love to be able to keep it in check this time.

  • We also actually have a really generous leave policy (5 months paid plus 2 months after leave you can have your kids stay in the company day caredownstairs for free so you can see them and feed them and what not) so it’s like a long chunk of time I might be leaving him to do all of our work for (and he basically just hired me to make his life easier).
This is amazing! So much better than any employer I’ve ever had.

I wouldn't have even swam after #2 until about 4 months because I had cracked and bleeding nipples until that point.  My husband wanted to do a mud obstacle course about that time and I was NOPE.  don't need the nips getting infected.
Eta: it was on my extremely inverted nipple that never protruded.  We worked diligently with LC and latch was fine.

  • @TheQuietThings cringeworthy :s I don't miss that one bit. Serious props to you for pulling through that for so long!
  • @acunamatada Breastfeeding is such a journey.  With #1, it didnt work out.  No big deal.  #2 I dealt with what cracked nipples, and blebs, and latch, and and and.   Then #3 was repeated mastitis.   Not going to lie.  Dreading those early weeks and months.

  • Girls I’m freaking out. Out of town with my DH for what was supposed to be a romantic weekend and I started spotting again. It’s brown, and kind of stringy. It looks like old blood mixed with the normal discharge I’ve been having but I don’t know and I’m so terrified. No cramps. I’ve been scouring the web the last hour for info on possibility of miscarriage after seeing a heartbeat on US and having hcg levels over 45,000....I can’t find anything!! I had my transvaginal US Wednesday and had bad cramping later that night....is it possible I’m just now spotting from the procedure? DH keeps asking if we need to go home. I don’t know what the hell to do and am praying some one maybe has experienced stringy brown spotting or something.....
  • @pregnant_and_paleo try not to worry, brown blood is old blood. It's great that you're not cramping too! Stay off google! Have you had sex recently? That or a t/v ultrasound could have irritated your cervix causing the spotting.
  • @acunamatada no sex.... google says mc starts with increasing brown blood..... google is the devil....all I can think is it was caused by the tv ultrasound... but that was Wednesday and the spotting started Saturday which seems like a big delay. Waiting until tomorrow morning to talk to my Dr is going to feel like eternity...
  • Catching up here a week later.

Regarding the bleeding after birth i think i bled for about 2-3 wks but pretty heavy first two wks. Also for FTMs who don’t know, you can’t wear tampons. Gotta suffer with pads totally gonna suck during the summer heat. I hate pads!

Regarding bedrest for bleeding. With DS i had to be on rest all first tri. Luckily i was able to work from my couch. With my SCH last week i took it easy the first day as it started to clear up quick. It only last 3 days. The last bit of it came out after walking from the train to work.

Regrding telling bosses/work. I told my immediate manager about a week later due to under measuring during US. Just to give him a heads up If I’m not fully functional. Two of my fellow supervisors know. I have also been in the process of transitioning to another position and i just told my soon to be manager. I told her i wanted for her to know should anything go bad in case i need time to myself if have complications like i did with #1. Our sons are 3 months apart so i think she is pretty understanding. I hope to tell the rest of my world in Jan during second tri. DH and i each get 10 wks paid leave (safe company). I also have some company paid short term disability (6 wks i think) but that is partial pay. Just have to figure out where that replacement $ will have to come from so i can do a minimum of 16 wks. I also have unlimited PTO but due to my tenure i would have a minimum of 20 days if i were an hourly employee (currently salary). But i would rather use PTO for follow up doc appointments and family vacation.
  • @TheQuietThings With my first breastfeeding did't work out and with my second I kept getting repeated mastitis. I was really hoping that this time it would be easier, but I guess I shouldn't get my hopes up.
  • Oh man... cracked/bleeding nipples, no swimming, no sex, 3 week long periods with pads... what have I gotten myself into!?  :s  :s

    Question - what is mastitis?

@lavillard infected breast tissue... Just as awful as it sounds! Caused by blocked milk ducts while bfing. Super painful and feels like the flu if it gets bad enough
  • @lavillard don't forget waking up to painful, huge, swollen, leaking boobs. I had no idea!

Oh yeah boob pads too! Lactating was painful for me.
