@meatballs37 so happy to hear from you. Wish there was more we could do for you. I know at the end of the day it might be tiring updating everyone necessary. We are here for you. Let us know how the scan is tomorrow. Thinking about you
I've seen those belly casting things before! Almost just spit out my drink, imagining serving a salad for company in my belly bowl. I feel like this would be a fun project in the moment, but I can't for the life of me imagine what I'd want to do with it beyond tossing it a week later, like @SunflowerMama428 said.
@meatballs37 I'm sending so many positive thoughts to your meatballs. I really hope you get some good news this morning.
Me: late 30s | H: early 30s TTC #1 since April 2015 RE Dx: Fibroids, surgery Jan 2016 IUI #1 and #2, Nov/Dec 2016, BFN IVF March 2017: ER - 5R/3M/3F, 1 PGS normal Polyp removed May 2017 FET May 2017 - BFP! Baby boy born 2/2/18
@meatballs37 thank you for the update. Continuing to keep you and your meatballs in my thoughts and prayers. Hoping for good news for you this morning!
I bought my 2yr old a Daniel the Tiger toy and she is finally playing independently! Its so amazing to watch her use her imagination ...... from the couch, with my coffee! LOL. I never thought I would buy into the "tv character stuff" but whatever it takes!
@meatballs37 and @nightnurse92 Thinking of you both, I hope you guys were able to get some rest last night.
I tried to do research on echogenic bowel last night and im still a little confused. Is the hope that it will resolve on its own? Can anyone fill me in?
Praying for both of you ladies. Thank you for the update, I was thinking about you all day after I realized you were having surgery yesterday morning. ❤️
@meatballs37 Good to hear from you! Hope your scan goes well. Sending prayers your way!
@smorzandoj, @ash0625, and @gingermama26 yay for new furniture/appliances! We got in on the Columbus day sales for the couch! Just ya know making sure home is comfy for new baby!
Checking in on our NorCal mamas. The news about the fires is horrible. Everyone ok? @rainafire77?
We are ok. Our house is not in the evacuation zone as of now. We have no internet or cell service and have NT since about 2am Monday morning. Don't know when any of that will be restored. Lots of friends lost everything though and the fires are still nowhere near contained. I'm at work in an adjacent town so I'm online now. We don't even have landline service in our town! It's horrible. One of my friends is 9 months pregnant, due any day, and they lost their house and barely got out with the clothes on their backs. We feel lucky and hope the winds keep blowing away from us.

@rainafire77 praying you stay safe. My heartbreaks for you friend. I couldn’t imagine losing everything before that baby came. Praying she gets the help she needs.
Thanks for checking in @rainafire77! I've been thinking of you. I'm glad you're safe!! The devastation out there is terrible. Please keep us posted when you can and let us know if there is anything we can do!
I'm becoming a little stressed when I start to think about little mans due date and all the things I will have to take care of by myself while H is in a different state working. I'm worried how I am going to juggle the girls while I'm in my last month of pregnancy on top of packing the house, getting ready for the birth, making sure everything is in place for our move after baby. I'm so happy he is coming but the timing is going to suck. Not to mention a cross country road trip with four children solo. What the hell lol I am praying my mom or MIL can take time off and help me.
I just got a call from a nurse to go over all the additional specialists we need to meet with if a micrognathia diagnosis is confirmed at the AS follow up. There are like 6 extra appointments between now and January and they are all with pediatric specialists and it’s completely freaking me out. I’ve been trying to be very positive about it and not think of it as anything we won’t be able to handle but now I might just be a nervous wreck until our follow up. Not to mention we STILL haven’t been able to get our health insurance figured out so we have been paying OOP for everything so far this pregnancy and I have no idea when we’ll finally get covered so financially this has me in a panic too. Ugh sorry just needed to vent the stress. I just want my baby to be ok and I have no idea what to expect at this point.

@seitzy3 Wow! Sounds like you have your hands full. They only thing I can suggest is when you have friends and family offer to help say "yes" and take them up on it!
@winnie1122 I cant imagine how stressed out you are. Is there any case management or HR that can help figure your insurance out? When is your follow up AS?
@meatballs37 and @nightnurse92 Thinking of you both, I hope you guys were able to get some rest last night.
I tried to do research on echogenic bowel last night and im still a little confused. Is the hope that it will resolve on its own? Can anyone fill me in?
OB is still hoping it will resolve. We went for the 3 week follow up to the AS yesterday. Usually they see some improvement in the “brightness” if it is just idiopathic, or benign (which almost 70% are).
Perinatologist will be following it now. Not sure what else they test for. OB didnt seem to be able to answer many questions regarding it. Hoping for the best though.
@winnie1122 i feel for you! Hopefully the specialists will be able to answer all your questions and give you the reassurance and information you need. Let us know when you follow-up
@winnie1122 Are they referring you to a team or each specialist separately? I know the possible diagnosis right now is micrognathia only, but there are "cleft/craniofacial teams" that have all the specialists you would be referred to in one coordinated group.
I would highly recommend finding out if you have a team like this near you as it is so much easier. All the specialties see you on a clinic day and then coordinate together to form a care plan. They also have nurse coordinators to help you schedule everything and social workers that can help with insurance, emotional, or life needs.
seen in appx 1% of pregnancies in the second trimester, 80-90% of the time results in a healthy baby at birth if no other problems are seen on ultrasound. But it can be associated with cystic fibrosis, certain infections (CMV and toxoplasmosis), or chromosomal abnormalities (trisomy 13, 18, or 21), so its presence does warrant work up. Can also be associated with growth restriction so requires a repeat US.
For micrognathia - can just be a smaller jaw that’s totally normal. However, can also be associated with several syndromes. The concern with it is that it is very hard in utero to determine the severity (or even confirm the diagnosis), and in severe cases babies can’t breathe well and can’t eat, so they can need emergency intubation - I had one case as a resident that I remember. We had to intubate the baby and helicopter her to a nearby children’s hospital (Mom was on drugs with no prenatal care, so we had to scramble since we were anticipating a routine delivery). It was scary being underequipped. Baby wound up having a more severe syndrome and needing specialized care, but last time I checked she was a happy 2 year old and her foster parents felt she was doing great.
@clc15 - I haven't, but these are a few questions that I have: visitor hours, where to park, how many people can be in the room, what to bring in the hospital bag vs. what the hospital provides, security policies, and if my husband can stay overnight in the room.
@mayapple44 My DH is covered through his grad school program, but the only family coverage they offer is crazy expensive so we opted not to do that when he started the program last fall. Previously I was also covered through his insurance when he had a different plan. I’m self-employed (and make very little at this point) so I can stay home with DS, so I can’t get my own. We were unfortunately pretty dumb when all our job changes happened last year and we decided not to enroll in the Marketplace when it was open because at that time it was cheaper to pay OOP for everything and we were trying to budget as tightly as possible. So when we found out we were expecting again we tried getting on Medicare until the Marketplace opens again but we’ve been jumping through hoops since July to get coverage and so far haven’t been able to get it because the process has been a mess. So probably at this point we’re just going to have to hope and pray that we can get a plan we can afford and that will cover a pregnant lady and a newborn without a fight when the Marketplace reopens in a few weeks. So really we have no one to blame but ourselves but at the same time it’s crazy how hard it is to get affordable healthcare... Our follow up is Nov 15
@3plus1equals4 The nurse that called was the nurse coordinator assigned to us, so she will be handling all the scheduling thankfully and she was super helpful and sweet on the phone so that at least made me feel better. She made it sound like all the specialists were in the same building, but they had different office days or something so she could only group a few of them in one day I guess? I can’t even remember which specific people they were, but there were at least four different ones. I know they are just getting as prepared as possible for whatever she might need, so I appreciate that for sure, it’s all just way out of my league at this point and it’s overwhelming to hear all those different doctors names! Hopefully after our follow up we’ll have a much clearer idea of what she might need.
@jessilee15 Thanks for that info! I’ve not been able to really find much firsthand information on what to expect at any level of severity, though I haven’t let myself Google too much yet, so that makes me feel much better actually.

Has anyone done a hospital tour yet? I just signed up for one... any questions I should definitely ask?
I'll deliver at the same hospital as last time. They were realllllly thorough with their information during the tour. The only thing that was asked was if they had bath tubs to labor in. I'd definitely ask what they provide. In my case it was everything except for breast pads.
@winnie1122 eek! That insurance stuff sounds like a nightmare! I hope people are cutting you some kind of deal since you are paying OOP. Good luck when the marketplace opens back up, hopefully you will have some sort of coverage before seeing the specialist.
@clc515 - Most tour guides have heard all the questions and will automatically incorporate them into their little speech they give. I would still go prepared with a list but chances are they will cover it all.

I did mine early (around 14 weeks) because I switched OBs and this one delivers at a different hospital… And I wanted time to decide if I wanted to switch back if I did not like the hospital. I highly recommend hospital tours. It makes delivery way less scary when you have seen where you will be and know what to expect. They also tell you all the little things like where to park, how to quickly come up, what to do if you don’t feel like you can walk etc. very good info.
Thinking and prayers for everyone with follow up appointments! I am def not taking my scan for granted.
@winnie1122 I wouldn't give up on Medicaid if you can get through the paperwork. We had it for my son and it covered everything for my pregnancy, delivery, and all of my son's specialists. The only bill we had was from opting to circumcise.
