TTC can be a long journey naturally, then add in the difficulties associated with infertility and it becomes a whole new ball game. Status (WTO/TWW/TTA):  Post egg retrieval recovery

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) Just had our IVF Egg Retrieval last Friday! Recovering and waiting for blast reports! FET later this month most likely (after AF)
 

How are things going? I am just so nervous about everything.... Can't wait to hear the reports. I should get another phone call today, Wednesday, and Thursday before freeze.

Then on more time on our own then trying a medicated IUI

Happy Monday, ladies!! Just glad to have today off after a busy weekend (that was supposed to not be busy!)

Status (WTO/TWW/TTA):  TWW! Although with the timing it's more like the 1.5WW  I go next Tuesday for my beta

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?)  Had my 2nd IUI on Friday! 

How are things going? Ok for now, trying to be positive but realistic.

GTKY: What show are you most excited about that is coming back on this Fall?   The show I'll attempt to continue to watch will be American Horror Story!  Honestly, I LOVED the first season and I keep coming back for more, but none of the seasons have kept me as interested.  So here we go again, another season I want to love.  Although I saw some previews and Trump is mentioned and honestly I don't want politics thrown into AHS so we'll see.

How are things going? Pretty good actually. I feel okay about being infertile this week and positive about the future.

How are things going?
About the same. H got his latest SA results back last week and, unsurprisingly, there was almost no change at all. RU is still pushing for surgery, but the earliest we could to it if we did it would be Nov. 

We're getting to a spot where we need to start making decisions: (surgery for him/lap for me/both surgeries/skip surgery and do IUI/have surgery (1 or both) and do IUI/say F it all and skip right to IVF) - my head is spinning. Someone needs to sit me down and just tell me what they think we should do and why. My RE sucks at that and is very much the type of Dr who lays out all of your options and then supports whatever choice you want to make.

GTKY: What show are you most excited about that is coming back on this Fall?
I almost never watch tv on actual cable tv and just play catch up online, so I have absolutely no idea when shows actually air. There's also nothing I'm really tracking right now.

@tamalahoops  I'm glad you're feeling positive!! IF is such an emotional rollercoaster so it's great to have good and positive days/weeks!
And I'll definitely test before. Mostly because I want to be prepared for bad news

@zwink1 wow lots of options/decisions. I hope you guys can come up with a good game plan of what would be best for you. Make lists for each option. Sometimes it helps to see everything right in front of you

@RVAmom515 Kill devil hills is beautiful! Definitely take a wild horse tour. Eat at chili peppers in KDH and Fish Heads in Nags Head. And then all of the basic touristy like the lighthouse in hatteras, the Wright memorial, Jockeys Ridge and if it rains the aquarium in manteo is really fun.

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) letrozole + Gonal-F + trigger + IUI + progesterone
 

How are things going? Still feeling pretty zen about this cycle.  I am a little nervous for the IUI. Despite the fact I've done the medicated cycle song and dance for awhile, this is my first IUI. My HSG was quite painful and I'm nervous the IUI will be too (even though I've had some reassurances from you all and the nurses in the past). Adding in the IUI this cycle is making me more hopeful for this one too... which is dangerous. Okay, after writing this novel, I realize I may not be zen at all any more.

GTKY: What show are you most excited about that is coming back on this Fall? Stranger Things! I love that show, and I feel like it's the perfect show for the fall season.

@zwink1 If you want someone to just share an opinion... I am not a doctor but based on what each of you have as a dx, I would skip surgeries and go straight to IVF. His surgery isn't going to make much difference. Your surgery wouldn't improve IUI chances I don't think. Why bother with wasting all that time when you could just go to IVF?

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) RE appointment tomorrow!
 

How are things going? Overall good with sudden spurts of panic. I still need to put together a list of our cycles and timing for the appointment tomorrow but that shouldn't be too hard. I'm more worried about how my weight will be discussed. For reference I'm a size 22. Because I ovulate regularly my OB isn't concerned about it. He's basically like well it couldn't hurt to lose some weight, but it's most likely not what's causing your IF. I've had some horrible doctors in the past, and at times I'm terrified that this RE is going to come in, take one look at me and say that I'm not KU because of my weight and disregard anything else. I know that it's unlikely that that will happen, but it still worries me.

@KariAnn323 GL tomorrow! I am also plus size (size 14-16) but my RE didn't even mention it. I was worried that he'd say lose 30 lbs and come back, but he didn't. My OB said the same to me - losing weight could help, but it's not affecting my ability to get pregnant. I don't know if that'll change if we decide to pursue IVF, but we will see. After my trip I'm planning on getting back on track, but that's more for me than anything else.

@KariAnn323 I have heard that fertility and pregnancy is affected once your BMI is over 35.  That's what the signs say in my office. 

@madspunk I am feeling mostly better.  So much less pain when I pee now. That sharp pain I was getting was wicked.  My bloating has gone down, and if you care, I am back to regular GI function.  Like @businesswife said, it's mostly mental and anxiety at this point! Thanks for asking!! 

@tamalahoops Would you consider donor eggs at all? I know for us when we started looking into wether we would do donor or adoption, it was actually cheaper for us to go through donor IVF than it was adoption.  I know the financial burden you're experiencing and I remember you guys really changed your lives a lot for IVF.  If you do chose adoption, have you started looking into it at all? I am really glad you're having a good day.  These are all decisions I don't think life ever prepares you for.  

Embies Update! I got the call from the clinic and all 5 are still growing! at 6-8 cells each, grade B which is "what they like to see for today"-embryologist.  So excited! MH was in the car with me when I got the call so it was nice we were both able to hear at the same time.  We were both so surprised! We both said we expected his embryo quality to be poor and just to be seeing donor embryos.  Hopefully they keep growing and are PGS normal so we have a chance!

@zwink1 sounds like you guys have a lot of decisions to make. I agree with others that making pros and cons lists is a good way to start. 
@madspunk I had three IUIs and none of them hurt. It basically felt like a Pap smear. 
@KariAnn323 I hope your appointment goes well! And I think that if you don't have a problem ovulating then your weight shouldn't be an issue and hopefully the RE will think so as well.

How are things going? Pretty good! We've had a lot going on lately and a busy month ahead so it's been great being distracted from TTC. I feel like nothing is going to happen until we do the surgery and get the results so I haven't been stressing this cycle, which is great.

@tamalahoops It's good that you are so positive. It helps make this whole process so much more tolerable. 
@zwink1 I know what it feels like to have your head spinning.  Would it be an option to have a consult with a different RE and get a second opinion?  We haven't even started with IUIs and we are already talking about IVF because of my dx. My H and I are also thinking, will we be wasting time and money doing something that probably won't work?
@madspunk I hope that your IUI is painless and smooth! I think having hope for a cycle is good.  Positive thoughts help! I still think you're zen
@kariann323 My RE told me that even a 5-10% weight loss can help with PCOS patients. It is not always the answer for every dx though.  Once you sit down with your RE, and do some testing, you will have a better idea of your dx and the best course of action for you.  

Diagnosis: High AMH, High Prolactin, PCOM, Fragile X carrier
Cycle: Month 22, CD 16
Status: WTO, I think that's today? (See below)
What are you doing this cycle? This is cycle 2 of 3.  So on our own. Lots of sex.
How are things going?  They're okay.  I go back and forth on why we are trying on our own, since after 22 months, nothing has worked.  Also, I haven't been charting for months and trying to get back into it hasn't been easy. I feel like a newb again.  "How long after my OPK will I ovulate? Should I have sex ed or eod? " My O day was always super regular and it has been all over the place the last few months.  I'm sure meds have something to do with it, but it doesn't help that I haven't been temping, so I don't really know for sure

GTKY: I don't watch a ton of TV, but I do love the walking dead. It's usually the only show I actually sit down to watch while it airs.  With a new show, I usually wait for a season to be almost over and then I binge watch, so this is a great thread for binge worthy shows!

@Redpuma119 I hope to transfer the next cycle, so later this month. They projected me for the last week in September.

@50Wife, @madspunk, @adirat, @KariAnn323, @shortstack930, @Redpuma119, @purplg8r thanks for the support and suggestions ladies. We've talked each option to death, I think. Our biggest issue at this point is that we have differing opinions on what the best next step is. Most of the time, I'm with @adirat in wanting to skip straight to IVF and forget the surgeries/IUI nonsense. Then H starts in with his reasoning for why he's thinking about wanting to do the surgery and I have a miserable, painful episode, and I start questioning my thought process. @Redpuma119, that's a great suggestion, and is actually something I'm really interested in doing. My biggest concern is that my pro con list is incomplete because I'm missing information or forgetting to consider something. It would be nice to have a second set of educated eyes to go over everything we have and offer suggestions.

@Redpuma119 I also halfway gave up on charting, and am have a hard time temping consistently. Hopefully you get back in it, and find that you O more consistently than you currently are thinking. Also cannot wait for TWD!!

How are things going? I'm sooo irritated at AF. As I said last week, since starting Metformin, my cycles have been getting shorter and more consistent. Now suddenly I'm back up to 40 days, with no end in site. I emailed my RE on Friday afternoon, but don't expect to hear back from her until tomorrow, or maybe Wednesday because of the long weekend.

Any questions? Anyone on Metformin still have irregular cycles?

@zwink1 that is definitely a lot to think about. FWIW I agree with @adirat you guys could be putting out a lot of time, effort, energy, and resources with the surgery that could lead you to IVF anyway but that is also a lot to swallow all at once and if you're not ready to head in that direction yet than you go with what you feel you are ready for 

@madspunk good luck with your first IUI! They really aren't bad, I just had one this morning. For some reason the catheter always bends at my cervix and they have to go through all these other ways to get it in and even with that and the pain of it it's still not that bad. Hopefully none of that will be the case for you though. You will do great!!

@Redpuma119 what is your plan again for after the 3 cycles? Even though fx that you won't even need it!!

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) Testing this cycle and next. I need an US this cycle (waiting to hear back for the appointment) and decided to do HGS next cycle... Not so much that I was worried about being alone with the discomfort, but DH and I decided that I should have him home for emotional support. Plus he needs his SA, and we're hoping to get that done this cycle
 

How are things going? Up and down. I've been home from my trip east for a wedding for three weeks now, but DH is still out there for work, so I get a bit lonely. But, he should be home before my FW, so we shouldn't have any trouble HIO

@beachbunnyxo123 Nope - after our RE appt in July, DH said that he wanted to try a few more cycles on our own, then agreed to the IUI. It worked out because we had some work and vacation plans that would affect appointments, testing, etc. So we are at the tail end of 2 of 3 on our own cycles

things are good, I'm feeling hopeful this cycle. DH and I tried on our own last month but it was definitely nice to have a reprieve from meds and monitoring and everything else. We just went away with my in laws and nieces for 5 days (was supposed to be a week but we had to come home early for monitoring appointments which was NBD atleast we got to spend some time away). We are going away for the night tomorrow for DH and my 4 year wedding anniversary. I triggered last night and had IUI #1 this morning and we go back again for IUI #2 tomorrow. Really praying this is our cycle.

How are things going?: Things are good! Nightmares about the appointment have stopped and I don't really feel too nervous about it right now. It seems to have snuck up on us the last couple of weeks.

Honestly, I'm really excited for it to be football season again - cool weather, the game on, snack foods galore. It's awesome.

@tamalahoops we will be in the same boat as you if this doesn't work. It will be a while before we can afford anything again for sure. Hoping for SS status for you though!
@zwink1 Maybe sit with your H and make a list of pros and cons for every situation. That might help in coming to a conclusion.

@KariAnn323 I think a good RE will explore all possible reasons why you are not getting KU. I am about a size 6 and I was still told at my first appointment that losing weight might help me because by my BMI I am still overweight but of course they have to rule out everything else. GL tomorrow.
@Hollyyyyy Sorry I don't have any experience with metformin but sorry things are still irregular for you. Hope your RE will get back to you soon with some answers.

How are things going? Disappointed in my response to the stims but I guess that's to be expected with my very low AMH. 8 follies today but not all are large enough to make it. I trigger tomorrow for Thursday retrieval.

@beachbunnyxo123 if they find something during the surgery (endometriosis, scarring, etc) then they'll remove it and we'll try on our own for a few months or so. If they don't find anything then we'll jump into IVF the cycle after the surgery. Good luck with your IUIs!!
