Re: Randoms 8/28

  • @carebella wow, nice that their life is so leisurely, but super rude of them to not let you know they aren't coming as planned. I unfortunately don't get on with my MIL, so I wouldn't take time off for her.

Random, my right hand is so swollen now, I couldn't close my fingers into a fist this morning.

  • @lilpoots... they're interesting. I initially liked them, but the more time we've spent with them it's turned into more of an I tolerate them situation. And since I am a SAHM I don't have work to escape to when they come visit. I definitely wouldn't take time off for them  :p  So sorry your MIL is that difficult <3

Do you have a nurse line you can call about your hand? That doesn't sound good...
  • @Carebella I have a regularly scheduled appointment tomorrow afternoon, otherwise I would call. I'm going to ask about a steroid shot for the swelling and the pain.
  • @lilpoots That swelling sounds miserable :( How about a delivery to fix your hand?  :D I hope it feels less torturous soon.

  • @Sugargirl1019 I think that is exactly what is needed to resolve it. It is carpal tunnel syndrome to the extreme. I'm not due until the 29th, so who knows when I'll deliver. I hope everything is going really well for you and baby.

Ugh, my 39 week appointment got moved to Wednesday and they still don't have my cholestasis tests back, it's been over 2 weeks!

I think these hormones are making me feel way more irritated than I should be about this stuff, but we were supposed to schedule my induction at this appointment and now I have to wait 2 more days for it.
  • I finally heard back from my cholestasis tests from 2 weeks ago, and when I got them done 2 weeks ago they were slightly elevated, so who the hell knows what they are now. Their office is closed for the storm for the next 2 days, so I won't know what they want to do about it till Wednesday.
  • @heatherlynn321 I'm sorry you are still dealing with not getting any answers. Hopefully they can just get you induced this week and you can be at peace with everything! Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers!

Thanks @tfrangul, I'm just frustrated to the point of tears now. I feel like no one at the office will listen to me about this. And now they're closed for 2 days, so there's nothing that can be done. Like if they were slightly elevated at 36w4d, who knows what they are now at 39 weeks. 39 is way past the safe cutoff for when they should induce you with this. The nurse said, "the doctor doesn't think the levels were related to your itching though." Like is there not a more definite test at this point that won't take over 2 weeks to hear back on?
  • I'm 39 weeks, aren't I allowed to just request an induction at this point? Has anyone done this before? Sorry, I'm just trying to figure out some solutions at this point.
  • @heatherlynn321, I'm sorry you're dealing with this. That sounds super frustrating, not to mention unprofessional. Can they refer you to another office to get some answers? It seems odd that they are closed two days mid week.
No idea if you can request to be induced at 39 weeks. Good question.
  • @coastalmomma-2, everything is closed right now because of Irma. It's not like we're in the middle of the hurricane where I live, but it's just a lot of trees down blocking roads. We're not in it's direct path, but still catching the exterior of it.
  • Probably depends on the state, but my OB will induce any time after 39 weeks.

  • @heatherlynn321, oh geeze. That must be stressful on top of everything else! I hope you are able to get some answers and relief soon.
  • edited September 2017
@coastalmomma-2, thanks! It's supposed to ease up around 9 tonight. I'm just hoping a tree doesn't hit our house or we lose power. We have this one iffy tree behind our fence, and it keeps swaying A LOT everytime the wind gets bad.
  • @heatherlynn321 I requested one at 39 weeks and got one. My appointment was the day before I was officially 39 wks. My doctor checked me and said I was favorable to have my water broke. So I got to the hospital at 730 the next morning broke my water at 810. Baby girl was born exactly 4 hours later. Doesn't hurt to ask. Also this was my third. Not sure if that made a difference.
  • I discussed having one at 40 weeks, but nothing was set in stone, and it was before the blood testing happened. The doctor I spoke to then was basically like, since I had one with DS, I'll probably have to have another one, so I might as well get it done at 40 weeks, instead of waiting till 41 and having to get it done then. I'm hoping whoever I see on Wednesday feels the same way about 39 weeks, and let's me get induced on Thursday. And that if I have ICP, my bile acid stays low till then.
  • @heatherlynn321 do you know what your bile acid levels were or did they just say "elevated"? They should continue to check levels but I guess if they will take weeks to come back they will induce (hopefully) before you get the next set of labs back. I'm thinking of you, hang in there!

@jenn622-2 Unfortunately when they called, they woke me up, so I wasn't thinking clearly and didn't ask for the actual number. Then 5 minutes later when I called back, they had already closed. They're supposed to reopen today, but on a delay since the storm has died down, so I'm going to call back and see if they can induce on Wednesday.
  • @heatherlynn321 I am so sorry your office isn't taking you seriously :( That is so infuriating and I hope everything with you and baby stays healthy. I'd be finding a new OB if there's a next time..

  • I got in touch with my doctor, and they said my bile acid level was only 3.6. Which I don't think qualifies for elevated at all, so I'm not sure why they told me that. They're going to do a gallbladder ultrasound tomorrow at my appointment just to make sure everything is good. 3.6 isn't elevated though right?
  • Someone please tell me why men are such whine asses when they are sick or hurt. DH is off work this week because of his severe blisters he aquired his first week of work. Apparently you can get infection and it's a big deal. Im not saying they don't hurt but I gave birth less than 2 weeks ago and have been taking care of 2 under 2, keeping the house very clean, and making sure dinner is on the table every night and all the other things we are expected to do. But he sleeps all day....wtf. I'm so annoyed and it's only been a day And a half!
  • @heatherlynn321 that bile acid number is great! Elevated is either over 10 or over 14.5 depending on what lab they used so don't think you have anything to worry about. Yay!!! I think you can relax, momma, baby is probably just fine! Maybe some of your other liver function tests (AST, ALT or Alk Phos) were slightly elevated but the bile acid is the biggest concern. I think you'll be just if you wait to induce or go into labor naturally. My OB won't even induce unless bile acid levels go close to or over 40.
  • Thanks @jenn622-2, I'm just confused as to why they even said slightly elevated. I'm hoping the itching in my hands and feet is just due to swelling. I'm still going to ask if I can induce on Friday. My anxiety is just getting really bad at this point, especially with PGAL brain, I don't think I can make it another weekend with all terrible scenarios I keep imagining.
  • I go in on Friday for a csection. My DH is already complaining how uncomfortable the fold out is and how he will be bored and unable to sleep all weekend.   I just looked at him and said ohhh I feel so bad for you!
  • I think I'm ready to abandon my family, pack up a suitcase, and take the doula with me to Whistler and go have this baby there. I never know which day DH is going to bother to go into work. Problems with the cars keep cropping up. My toddler is being insanely clingy. The in-laws did a huge number on my stress level and then tried to be all poor us. I'm exhausted and trying to be in a positive happy space right now to encourage baby to be ready to come out is not happening.
  • A few days after we got home from the hospital my husband was complaining about how much a pimple on his butt hurt. Um, I just pushed a baby out, so let's not compare...
  • No cortisone or pain killer shot for me. I'm trying to condense all of my clients into the next 8 days, but it is also possible that I won't end up going into work past tomorrow. The swelling in my hands is intense and now the swelling in my feet has moved up my legs. The NP was concerned at my appointment about pre e, but I have no other signs. Dilated to 3cm and cervix is very thin, so who knows when baby will show up.
  • @lilpoots FX the swelling calms down asap. Did the NP have any ideas why it'd be so bad if it isn't pre-e?
  • Oh you best believe I told him to leave when we were at the hospital. Lol Because he was Soo uncomfortable. I said ok bye. It's not like he was doing anything productive. So he slept at home the 2 nights and came during the day.
  • @Carebella they will keep an eye on it, but my urine is clean and my bp was 105/70. No vision issues, no abdominal pain. I guess I'm just especially swollen. I do stand at my job for 8 hours straight on average and mostly in the same spot.

My H better sleep on the pull out. I suggested he bring an air mattress this time, but he declined. We had to stay 5 nights last time, so I'm sure he can handle 1 or 2.
  • @Carebella omg so I've been a dirty lurker lately because so much has and hasn't been going on, and I didn't see the tag from a million years ago asking how I'm doing, so Sorry!

The house is for sale, but it went silent this past week due to Irma, but all is well, where I am at in FL got some blustery winds yesterday and that's it. So hopefully things will get a going again with selling the house. We officially got our orders to VA a couple weeks ago, and will be moving in November/December, so house hunting long distance has begun. I am 39+2 today, and am hoping to be under contract on our house here in FL before a little lady makes her debut, but that is seeming unlikely and petrifies me, because I do not want to be doing showings of my home and having to pack up the dog and a newborn fresh out the hospital and driving around or finding somewhere to hang out until I can return back. I'm pretty anxious about this selling process in general.

So many babies have been born!!

40+1 today and already tired of the are you in labor yet from so many people. 1) We are not planning to share when labor starts, 2) I've been vocal about expecting to go to 42 weeks and you're asking just adds to the stress and likelihood of going longer, and 3) just wait for the pictures and shut up already.
Same! 40+5 over here with my second this is how I feel right about now
