• BusinessWife Ohh! I am glad it was just an empty follicle. I was confused for you!

DecemberDoll27 Lucky number 7! That's great and congrats!

emmasemm Hahaha! Making a smiley face! You crack me up. Try not to be nervous - HA says me, nervous nelly! I totally get it. Each and every step is nerve wracking. Take some deep breaths.

2nd Beta today and more than doubled. I'm at 402.6 so I’m on track. I had a low fever last night and been super tired. Boobs are feeling sore and I had some nausea last night and this morning.

I have an ultrasound next Friday just to put myself at ease to make sure the baby implanted in a good spot.

• @JaeJayStark. Ah!!! That sounds great! How nice it will be to see that little blip! ;)

@DecemberDoll27 more or less the same. Last time we started with just 300 follistim and 20 low dose hcg, and this time we'll start at 450. She said we can always dial back if we need to, but last time we tried to amp up a bit at the end and maybe it was a bit too late to get them mature? Who knows. Out of 18 retrieved it was only 10 mature, 6 fertilized last time.

@adirat. You can do this! It's true, the stimms are mostly nbd imho, (as long as your protocol isn't crazy complicated and super confusing!) Lol even if it's not, I know people will set phone alerts when it's time for meds, so that can help. I swear just the stress of getting the right dose at the right time is the worst of it. And before you know it, it'll be retrieval day!!! ❤

• Well the good news is it's my birthday and DH baked me a cake!

But the bad news is I have only 1 20mm+ follie on my right side and two follies less than 10mm (one on each side), left ovary is totally hiding so he said it could be there is another one tucked away. This is after 5 nights of stims. But now he is worried my dominant follie will ovulate so I'm straight on Ganirelix every 18 hours and back 7am Monday morning to see if it's held on, and if yes then we will trigger Mon night very late (maybe even 2am Tuesday) and go for ER early Weds morning. Worst case I ovulate despite the drugs. Or when he gets in there on Weds he can't get the egg out - and best case we are pinning all our hopes on one egg. He is also worried even if there is something on the left that he can't get to it without going through the uterine wall... and if it's not very big he said he will have to decide during retrieval if it's worth the risk of heavy bleeding to try to get one more not likely mature egg...

Yeah, so I think that's just about as poor a response as it's possible to get!!!

I mean last month at this time I had 4 20mm follies without drugs (but only ovulated one) - and the last six months it's been between 1-4 growing until day 8-10 unmedicated. I guess this is a "1" month... Ahhhh. He did warn that the drugs can make it worse with my AMH/FSH levels to start with.

DH is being super sweet and saying well we are learning a lot, and we knew we probably have to give this a lot of cycles (we've saved up already to pay for 5) - but bloody hell I really feel like my body is letting me down and being an uncooperative pain in the butt.

• @emmasemm I'm sorry to hear it :( That's so frustrating when you pin so much hope on this. Remind me about your decision tree -- if you have so few, will you move forward? Would your doc "sacrifice" the lead follicle to grow the others?

BusinessWifetinjp78
• @emmasemm Happy Birthday!! And sorry to hear. I'm new to this but is there anyway they can convert this to an IUI cycle to give you a better chance with the 1-2 mature eggs? Hope things work out - I'm keeping everything crossed for you.
BusinessWifeadirattinjp78
• @emmasemm so sorry to hear that! I agree with the question @rainbows2018 had (and also in my newbieness), could you convert it to a IUI?

@DecemberDoll27 glad retrieval went well! yay for 7 eggs, so glad that you weren't sick any earlier and they could still move forward! Are you doing a FET or a fresh transfer? Hope your body is recovering from both the ER and flu, that is rough my friend!

AFM After the initial night of complete disorientation, I've been slightly dizzy but not near as bad! Had my check up today and he seemed pleased with where we are at. I'm trying to stay in a good head space but I can't tell how well we are actually doing. I'm on day 8 of stims and I've got R: 11, 11, 8, 7, 9 and L: 9, 9, 9, 8, 7 endometrium 17. Based off of forums I get the feeling I should be further along than I am but I was also under stimulated for the first 5 days of stims. He seemed happy with where I'm at so I'm trying to take that to heart and no let myself overanalyze it too terribly much (can you tell it's not working? Lol)

I know it seems greedy but I also expected more than 10 eggs. Since we have no known issue on my side I just assumed I'd do well on stims but I can't tell if I am at this point. I'm set to do 3 more nights of stims at my higher 360 dose and I kind of anticipate going a day or 2 into next week too so I'm hoping that Ive still got time for them to grow and mature. This is such a roller coaster or emotions and expectations!

• @emmasemm Happy Birthday and I wish you got better news today! I agree with the rest of the ladies, IUI seems like a logical thing to do. However even if you go for that 1 egg, it might still work out! It only takes one, remember? Also, maybe it is a sign that it is indeed your very special future baby there. ( I am becoming fatalistic with all this IVF stress, so don't mind me)

@loverin, your US results look good to me! 10 is a great number( better than my 7 for sure!) and like you said you were understimulated. ( Follies grow about 2mm a day and they trigger when they are over 18mm) By this time next week you will be all done with stims! Keep your eyes on the prize!

AFM, I am back at work today, dreading the phone call from the embryologist.
They said he will call after 2 pm... Hoping everything is ok with the little ones. Also for those of you who will be doing vaginal progesterone inserts, let me tell you it is an interesting experience for sure... did mine for the first time last night and it was deeply weird. It also burns and tickles a little and I am constantly afraid that it is going to fall off. LOL, things we do for motherhood

@emmasemm Happy birthday and how awesome of your DH to bake a cake for you.

@DecemberDoll27 I hope you get a great fertilization report.

AFM: just got back from ER and it's not quite what I expected. 19 eggs retrieved. I don't know if they retrieved all they could (my left ovary likes to hide) if some eggs didn't want to release from the follicles or if the RE only retrieved those he thought would be mature. Wednesday we had 39 follicles showing and 24 in a mature range. So even though we had twice as many follicles and my E2 was twice as high as last time we retrieved fewer eggs in total, 19 eggs to 21.

My last IVF we retrieved 21, 12 were mature, 7 fertilized and we had 3 blasts.

I'll get the fertilization report tomorrow. My RE said the were going to do ICSI on 10 then natural on the rest. I talked him out of it and now they are going to do ICSI on all mature and natural on the rest, just in case.

• @sunnyrain2 Congrats on the hardest part being over! 19 is an awesome number! your lucky baby number#2 should be there! I am sending you all the positive vibes! And good job on talking your RE into ICSI all the mature ones!

AFM, I got the call, they only thing they told me is that we have a 5 day transfer scheduled for Monday. My clinic apparently does not give reports on what's happening to the embryos during that time. But I am happy they feel confident enough to do a day 5 and not day 3 transfer. I don't know how I feel to tell you the truth- it is all in a haze and it is happening to somebody else, not me. I think my brain went into self preservation mode.

• So much to catch up on ladies! Ive been off the boards for a bit since work has been crazy. Ive been *lurking* a bit just too tired to get into typing (stims are hitting me hard this cycle and I'm ZONKED... @BusinessWife I feel ya, girl.)

@JaeJayStark Congrats on the great numbers! Keeping it all crossed for you! :)

@emmasemm we are seriously right in line with our timing. I had my first monitoring this morning (UGH, 7am appointments are the worst though... UGH) Sorry your news wasn't better, and I agree with the others.... will you move forward with what you have so as to not just throw the cycle out? It's great you have planned for multiple rides on this crazy train, I would say ANY response and assistance in this journey is welcome (if your RE believes it is ok)... after my two rides on the crazy train, I still have no idea what to expect as far as results. I hope, but seriously have no clue what my old lady parts are gonna do!

AFM, monitoring went well. My AFC was 14 and today on CD5 I had 7 measurable over 10mm and more smaller ones in the wings. Hopefully that they all grow at the same rate so I can stim 12 days. Hubby is out of town til late on the 21st and it looks like if I keep on track like my other cycles and stim til CD12, I might trigger on the 20th (which is optimal since then DH will be home and be able to provide a fresh sample and be with me at ER.... ) if I trigger earlier, then we will have to use the sample he froze earlier this week in a frantic last minute trip to the endocrinologist "just in case". UGH, its never simple and easy, is it?

• First of all thanks guys for all your messages of support. It really helps and means a lot.

@rainbows2018 @cnmiller73 and @businesswife I'm with you on the meds - the stims were ok for me so far but OMG the Ganirelix has hit me literally like a ton of bricks falling on my head.
Hence me being AWOL the rest of yesterday

@loverin - looks like your follies are taking the slow and sure approach (not got one elbowing the others out of the way like me!) I think and hope that with more days you will see them grow step by step together fx

@sunnyrain2 congrats on all those eggs and convincing them to do ICSI on all - I know you're disappointed not to have more but those are seriously great numbers. Fx the next few days

@decemberdoll27 first of all fantastic hear you know you're heading for day 5! Though yes pretty weird to have no more details... fx that just means they are soooo awesome there's nothing to say

@adirat the decision tree has helped a lot. I had the "only 1-2 follies 10+mm" as a branch, and then the options were:
1. Stop meds, but monitor until O and run as TI
2. Continue meds and monitoring and trigger then convert to TI
3. Continue meds and monitoring and trigger then convert to IUI
4. Continue meds and monitoring and trigger followed by ER
So at the moment we're following 4 but that could change on Monday depending what next monitoring shows

As for sacrificing the lead follie, he's really not convinced if the other two will respond any further - so that's the decision on Monday if we go for trigger for the one or if the others have started to catch up then stim a bit longer. But he said he is 90% sure we will trigger Monday night. If we keep pushing and the other two don't respond then we'll have nothing, or best case they both do, but still one of them is in a difficult to reach spot, so likelihood only one anyhow. So weighing up the likely outcomes, we probably go with the "early riser" (I added more items to my decision tree yesterday..)

Otherwise hope everyone has a relaxing weekend to balance the roller coaster we are on

• @cmiller73 I hear you on stressing a particular day, too. It was such a big ordeal when I called out sick from work - I did tell thrm two days prior, but not that it was for an egg retrieval bc I don't feel like it's anyone's business - it's personal and I shouldn't have to disclose specifically what medical issue we have going on if I don't want to! I mean our own mothers dont even know, but I should have to tell my boss??? (I did tell one coworker in confidence, but then at least if it gets out, I'll know who leaked it! Lol)

Anywho, I am hoping with this higher dose, if my cycle goes similar, but I stim one day shorter, end up triggering Friday for Sunday retrieval, then I don't have to call out again and irk my managers. :/ So I will keep everything crossed for you to get to use a fresh sample, too!!! ❤

• No updates until Thursday. Their policy is not to disturb the embryos more than necessary. In March they called with a fertilization report and we decided at that point if we wanted to do a 3 or 5 day transfer. I got another report when I got to the office for transfer.

• That's wonderful to hear @sunnyrain2

@emmasemm Your decision-making process makes sense to me. The greatest thing I can wish for you is that the decision is clear and easy to make -- hopefully because more follicles pop up but either way I hope you can feel really good about what you decide to do <3

AFM - ultrasound this morning looked good, so we are starting stims tonight! I made my husband practice injections on an orange last night so he would be prepared...

BusinessWifeadirat
• @rainbows2018. You'll be fine! Just make sure to get the bubble out first, cos you'll see when they prefill it, they leave a pretty big one. Remember tho, don't worry, bc your body has all kind of gasses in it, so a tiny bubble isn't going to hurt anything if it's not perfect. ;) Really do pinch the skin tight, and jab it in quickly to break the skin, since I feel like rhat one is not as sharp as the micro needles or the pen needles. But then I kind of go slowish pushing everything in, you just can't go too slow with the ganirelix bc the plunger wants to stick and that just makes it harder to push. But you'll be fine! ❤❤❤

• @BusinessWife thanks for your recommendations. I also iced the area so didn't feel injection pain even though I had to jab it in. I still think Menopur is a lot worse bc of the burning when it goes in. Then again, this is day 9 of stims so I'm near the end of this step.

@sunnyrain2 on no! It gets so confusing with all the meds and times! I honestly don't know how everyone does it because with this and the rest of the responsibilities in life, it's honestly just too much to think about! My doctor has gotten a few calls with the above type scenarios. You seem to have handled it well! Good luck lady!

@loverin I hope you're doing well and okay from Irma! I can't imagine that type of stress on top of everything else!

@rainbows2018 Menopur is the worst! I found that when I mix it with my Ganirelix it doesn't hurt nearly as much because its a lot less volumen then with the liquid it comes with. Plus one less shot!

I'm on my last day of stims before retrieval Tuesday. Anyone else feeling like a momma spider with all these eggs! SO Bloated lol.

• @rainbows2018 @businesswife I think my Ganirelix is different to yours - I have it in single use syringes, all ready to just shoot and go. The needle is almost the same as the pen one for the Stims. It does sting a bit like an insect bite for a few minutes (as I guess it moves through the surrounding tissue) but otherwise the injection itself is no issue. Not sure why they still have some in different formats.

@sunnyrain2 keeping all fx for your report on Thursday

@cxsimo08 do you do your trigger tonight? How many follies did you have at last monitoring?

@adirat yes- how did your first night of stims go?

I have one more Stim tonight, then Ganirelix in the morning, then we will see what we find at the monitoring appointment. I'm all out of meds by then so will need to go to the pharmacy irrespective of the plan.

• @emmasemm yeah, that's the same as mine, prefilled. I also have microdose syringes tho for my low-dose HCG, (which are the same as the lupron ones). Those have a *tiny* needle. I agree, the ganirelix needle is not that different from the pen needles that come with the follistim, somehow it just seems duller to me. But my H also had some micro pen-needle tips that are tinier, more like the lupron ones, so I use those for the follistim instead. He wanted to figure out a way to transfer the ganirelix into a micro one for me too, lol but I was like omg just let me get it overwith!

• @emmasemm The Ganirelix you described is just like mine with the pre-filled syringe. I mix that with my Menopur powder and the volume ends up less then the liquid if you did Menopur alone, so its quicker, one less shot, and stings less! Have you tried mixing? Yes, my TS is tonight!!! Honestly I'm not sure how many follicles because I've had a few different doctors based on coming in weekends vs. my normal RE and I feel like they measure differently, so it's hard for me to tell how many are looking viable. I know it's less then my last IVF cycle so nervous about that but praying for quality of quantity. I hope you're feeling better from your Ganirelix! Lots of water and tylenol!

@BusinessWife I totally feel you with the "informing work" thing. I'm a consultant so my consulting firm now knows but I did NOT feel comfortable telling my client. I let them know I had minor surgery this upcoming week, and I wold have to be remote for a few days of recovery. No one pressed on it or asked further questions- thank goodness. Unfortunately, for my consulting firm, we are always out networking over drinks so after 2 years of passing on alcohol, leaving to the bathroom to do stims, and being asked in confidence if I was pregnant (some people are so clueless), I finally just told them because it hurt less. It's such a personal decision though and it's extremely hard dealing with the work aspect. Even now, everyone at my consulting firm knows i'm doing IVF this cycle so they will know if i'm successful or not. Kind of sucks. If you ever want to chat on dealing with work scenarios I'm here for you!

• Thanks for thinking of me ladies! We did the first night of stims last night. I had a glass of wine first (ha) but it was fine. MH did a good job. Our friend, who is a medical resident, supervised him mixing the meds and doing the injections (we have a follistim pen but menopur is mix and syringe inject) and she said he did just fine. The needles are tiny, so it didn't hurt a lot for the puncture, but the injection part hurt quite a bit because the medicine kind of spreads out under your skin and burns, especially the menopur :( But it was very temporary which is good.

I really admire you ladies who are doing your own -- I had to turn away and not look while he did it!

@cxsimo08 Sorry to hear the work situation is so complicated. I hope that they can all at least be sensitive and not go out of their way to ask you what's happening when that's your news to share your way. In a way, I'm glad we are doing frozen only because I did tell some people we are doing IVF but now the actual pregnancy (I hope) will all be on my terms.

• @adirat yey! You officially started stims!!!! I found that it hurts less if you inject really really slowly, also the least sensitive area for me was about an inch under my belly button and an inch left or right. The more to the sides you go, the more it hurts.
@emmasemm I have everything crossed for your appointment tomorrow!
@BusinessWife and @cxsimo08 I hear you on issues with informing people at work. all they know is that I had a minor surgery. I already took 3 days off last week to get over my flu and do ER. my transfer is tomorow and I have no idea what to tell my boss about being gone for 2 more days. I am getting a promotion and he can't even announce it officially because I am not there. Hope he is not gonna change his mind about promoting me.

@adirat proud of you for rocking your stims!!! It gets easier I promise. Mind over matter! This is going to show you how much of a weirdo I am, but when I'm shooting in the Menopur (and Progesterone in oil which doesn't sting but takes forever due to density) I sing a little song and it distracts me enough to pass the time and hurts less. My go to is the chorus to Waterfalls by TLC :D Oh and saying I'm doing a FET is actually an awesome idea I didn't think of! I'm going to totally do that with work because then people won't be wondering if I was successful or not!! GREAT plan! Thank you!

BTW I started to do my own shots mid-way through my first cycle of IUI with stims because it gives me a sense of empowerment and control over everything. It may sound strange, but at least for me it was a mental game and felt kind of like the thing where if someone else brushes out your hair knots it hurts more than if you do it. Plus my DH now thinks I'm a total bada** lol.

@DecemberDoll27 That sounds so hard but CONGRATULATIONS on your promotion! He will not rescind that offer- don't worry! I'm sure your promotion is well deserved and companies invest in employees for a longer play then a few days off for medical procedures! Is your doctor making you rest for 2 days after transfer? The day of my last transfer I worked remotely and went in the next day and felt pretty good. ER was much harder on my body. Are you able to WFH? If not I say take it easy and prioritize YOU! This is very hard, expensive, emotional and physical stress and people are understanding of that. Good luck lady!

• @DecemberDoll27 Thanks for the info, and congrats on the promotion! I agree with @cxsimo08 -- no way your boss will rescind it because of a couple sick days.

@cxsimo08 Happy to help! I hope saying FET works to get everyone off your back. Tonight I am definitely rocking some TLC :)
