We already know she's a girl  We did IVF with PGS - which is genetic screening for chromosomal abnormalities in an embryo.  This screening is used first and foremost to reduce the likelihood of miscarriage or implantation failure, but they do also give you the option of finding out the sex if you so choose.

I'm curious- if you have several embryos and you've done pgs, do you pick whether you want to transfer a male vs female embryo? Or do they just randomly select one for you?

So we had 6 healthy embryos to choose from and they told us 4 were girls and 2 were boys.  We had two embryos that were tied for being the highest "graded" embryos (based on appearance by the embryologist) and one of those was a girl, one was a boy.  So we picked the girl.  If they had both been boys we would have picked a boy.  Really our top priority was to pick the nicest looking embryo because it is slightly more likely to become a successful pregnancy. But we did have an ever so slight preference for a girl, since we had the option.

Congrats to all of you finding out the sex of your babies! It's all very exciting, and I'm totally jealous. We're not doing NIPT and NIPT wouldn't work for us to know the sexes anyway because they're 2, so I'm waiting over 2 more months for the Anatomy Scan like it's the dark ages, when this thread will probably be buried under 400 dramatic drive-bys.

@vflux33 I didn't actually do the NIPT to find out the sex but it was an added bonus. I'll still be super psyched 2 months from now to hear what you're having!!

@ShawnnaO Agreed! I am legit excited for people. It's great to see that everyone's come back normal so far. 

@heatherdubrow Oh, I know most people are doing it for the actual purpose of the test I would hope lol (and we are doing genetic testing too with the NT scan and the 2 blood tests instead)... but yeah it would be nice to know 2 months earlier as an added bonus. Thankfully we will get the more vital genetic info before that--if I had to wait 2 months for that info I'd pretty much lose my mind.

@vflux33, I just finished my NT scan and I would be lying if I said I didn't try to get a glimpse of the 'nub' ... but we aren't finding out sex until birth this time around. Still won't stop my from looking up every single crazy theory out there... so far they all say different things, lol! 

It makes me sad sad that this isn't pinned yet and will probably be buried.

I'm going in for my NIPT tests on Monday. How long does it take for the results to come back? And how accurate is the sex? My friend recently just had a baby boy after she was told it would be a girl..

@sarahhedger7 typically 1-2 weeks with a 95% accuracy rate.

@sarahhedger7 I read somewhere that it is more likely for a girl result to be wrong than boy, mostly if they don't get enough DNA I believe was the reason? Don't quote me on that. We will celebrate our result, but we will not purchase anything until after our anatomy scan at least in case.

@kiki75 True, but that means we are 75% likely to not know both sexes after doing the test, which feels not worth it (and it might drive me more crazy to half-know).

Sorry been a bit MIA ladies. I have been very sick and work is overwhelming. But we just got back out NIPT results! Everything is normal and we are having a baby girl! I cried and I feel like this will definitely take awhile to wrap my head around ha

Got our NIPT results today! Everything looked great and we're having a little BOY! If I hadn't been eating lunch in public when I spoke to the nurse I might have scream laughed a little more because *everyone* (my DH included) thought we were having a girl, except for my mom. (She said I wasn't sick enough.  ) But we are so excited! My dad cried which made me cry.
