Re: July IUI

  • @Sunnynat2015
thank you! I feel the 2ww will be way worse than a normal cycle from trying as we seen now spending money on the process!

How did you decide how many cycles you would try? We have spoken briefly about it but we have not came to a decision and are currently just "going with it."

  • @greenhillgirl trust me I totally understand! Our good friends are going to the same RE clinic as us and had some health issues and were actually told to go straight IVF and not bother with IUI and they got pregnant first try! We had no issues and this first IUI was a bust!

@Prayingfor2 I use clomid and I have no idea how much your meds are but I'm cash pay and my clinic sends my scripts to a pharmacy in Arizona called integrity. They overnight my meds in a cooler and they are cheap. The clomid is $12 and the ovidrel was $90 which I've been told is better than cvs or Walgreens or something! Maybe try calling them or seeing if your clinic has a deal with a pharmacy!
  • J1006J1006 member
@Prayingfor2. I've only been on letrozole with a Pregnyl trigger. My letrozole is covered by insurance  because it technically isn't a fertility med. My trigger isn't covered and runs around $90 from a specialty pharmacy, Avella. It gets delivered to my house.

@greenhillgirl. All these fertile women and their pregnancy announcements, ah!  My work is going through a baby boom. It seems like every month someone announces they are pregnant. I'm currently one of two women of hold bearing age at work who isn't either pregnant or just had a baby within past year. It's insane! At one point someone joked that there was something in the water. I must be immune haha. GL this cycle!
  • @Prayingfor2 my RE basically told me this would be the last one she would do and that we should move to ivf - she didn't want us to waste our time and money if it wasn't working.  I have a blocked tube so that limits me
    too.

@Labluver2 how did your scan go? Have you found out when you will trigger?

AFM nurse just called and gwve me
option to trigger now and have iui tomorrow or trigger tonight and have iui Saturday.  If I have it Saturday then I have to go downtown which is much farther away.  I hate when they give me choices though because it makes me feel like would it work if I had chosen the other option!
this is the earliest in my cycle that I have ever triggered.

  • @bpietronicco I have my scan tomorrow morning. I have a feeling they are going to tell me the same thing trigger tomorrow and IUI sat or they may make me trigger Saturday and iui Monday. I have no clue. Sat would already be day 14 so I just hope I don't ovulate before then. I usually ovulate on my own between 14 and 16 days. I also normally have sex the day of trigger then I get iui 36,hours later then we have sex the next day after then every other for a few days just to cover everything. I would also wonder if I did things different would it have worked. Good luck I hope this is your cycle. Hoping you don't have to move on to IVF.
  • Got my US today I have 1 follie at 20, 1 at 17 and 2 at 16 they think the others will catch up I had a few smaller ones too. Depending on bw Dr may want one more day of gonal F or possibly trigger tonight IUI Sunday.
  • That's great @Labluver2
i had my iui today- yesterday I had one follicle at 20 and 1 at 14.  I am hoping the 14 grew more - I am hopeful.
  • @bpietronicco
Hopefully it sticks and IVF isn't necessary! Prayers for you!

    Calendar on the fridge!
Letrozole makes for some gnarly headaches and upset stomach.

  • @bpietronicco I will keep my fingers crossed this is the one for you. Hope you don't have to move on to IVF.

AFM is triggered last night and my IUI is tomorrow Morning at 930. I hope my husbands sample is as good as it was last time he has 88 million and 99% mobility.
  • Our sample wasn't as good this time around- last time he was at 80 million and 99% - this time 27.2 million and 94%.
  • @Labluver2 You have great follie size. Good luck with you IUI!
@bpietronicco Good luck with your IUI! Hoping your 2ww goes by fast.
@Prayingfor2 I've been on letrozole for 3 days so far and have been so tired! I literally sleep all night and feel like I could nap several times a day. Can't wait to finish up in a couple days. I've had a mild headache as well but that doesn't bother me as much.
  • Had my IUI this morning what a fiasco that was. Nurse on Friday told us the wrong location so we get there and they are closed. Called and finally got someone and they said they are closed Sunday(no shit) the other office was another 30 mins away and we were worried about the sample. Hubby booked it doing 90 on the turnpike and we make it in 15 mins!!! They told us the sample would still be good.

55million and 95 mobility I guess isnt too bad tho is last sample was 88 mil and the one before that was 75mil so the wait did effect it some. Now the tww ugh. The only nice thing about having it on a weekend is I get to come home and rest instead of going into work. Dr also said to have intercourse tonight!!!!
  • @Labluver2 glad you made it! I had the option for Friday or Saturday and I chose Friday because I could go to my usual office that was closer and not have to go an extra hour and a half away.

anyone have any big plans for the tww to make it go quicker??

@J1006 I have literally had 23 friends and family announce pregnancies.  It's been crazy- I want to find some of that water
  • @bpietronicco both offices are the same distance just opposite directions so it was a lot of back tracking. I was just afraid they would say they couldn't do it and it would be a waisted cycle.

I have work which keeps me busy and next weekend a cookout up my moms with my whole family. Its weird after vacation I'm just in a different frame of mind. I'm less stressed and trying to relax more. I go next Monday for my progesterone to be checked. I haven't scheduled my beta prob the following Monday BC I don't want to drive all the way to the other office if I don't get AF by then.
  • @Labluver2 my clinic puts me on progesterone starting today.  I am supposed to go for beta August 4 but I will be out of town and can't go until the 8th.

i am going To a conference Friday-Sunday so that will help me keep my mind off things- I am also trying to relax.  I hope these are positive cycles for us!!
  • Hi everyone,

Glad to hear things are moving along for people. @Labluver2 that sounds awful and so stressful. I know I would be sweating from that situation!

@J1006 seriously- so many pregnant women. Although I actually found out my friend did a pregnancy with IVF because of a genetic issue they had a previous miscarriage from. So I suppose we never really know how "easy" it was for anyone else.

Plugging along with my 4th day of the Letrazole out of 5. They doubled my dose from 2.5mg to 5mg this time so I was super worried about side effects. But I'm keeping a steady stream of tylenol in my system and taking tylenol pm for the insomnia and I've been okay. Achey and a little out of it but nothing unbearable. Tomorrow night is the last dose and then I do monitoring on 7/28 so probably IUI on 7/29. A Saturday- that would be convenient!

    Happy Monday everyone :-/

  • Hey ladies just checking in. Congrats to those who are in their tww. Hopefully it won't go to slow.
AFM I am having the longest cycle ever, cycle day 8 and still af  :o idk what is going on. Debating if I should wait til my scan Weds to discuss with my Re or call beforehand. Has anyone ever had longer bleeding while taking letrozole?
  • J1006J1006 member
@rel_1987. Yikes! I've never had a longer cycle when I've been on letrozole. AF has actually been lighter for me. Could just be a coincidence too. I would say if it's been a full period with no signs of stopping I would give them a call. It can't hurt right?
  • Hope everything is doing well! After my early July failed iui I'm on day 5 of clomid again. I was wondering what day your RE has you start meds? I feel like I keep getting conflicting info. They told me once any spotting is day 1 but the nurse this time when I called to said to start first full day of bleeding. I'm starting to wonder about the accuracy of my clinic ..
  • @J1006 I'm going to call them tomorrow first thing in the morning because this is crazy and annoying lol.
@meredithj123 my RE has me start meds first day of full flow.
  • J1006J1006 member
@meredithj123. My office considered day 1 first day of full flow. However if it starts after 4pm day 1 is the next day. This time around I didn't get AF until 8pm on Saturday so they considered Sunday my day 1. I've always started my meds on CD5.
  • That's for the info girls! I feel like such a Debbie downer lately but I feel like my clinic isn't monitoring me nearly as closely as most of you! I'm going to ask my first ultrasound in Wednesday!
  • @rel_1987 I had long period this month (first month on letrozole/femara) I bled for about 5 days then had 2 days of spotting then bled again on CD8.

    July 2017 - femara 7.5mg days 3-7 + ovidrel + IUI  - BFN
  • @mschmitt17 glad to know I'm not alone. I'm on cycle day 9 and I just feel so drained all the vitamins in the world can't keep energized lol
  • Had my first IUI this morning! It was uncomfortable but not too painful. The nurse performing the IUI was so sweet. She used to be a labor and delivery nurse but then switched to the RE office after she herself experienced infertility. She helped calm my nerves!

DH was so embarrassed because I made him high-five me after she told us his post-wash sperm count was 87.6 million with 90% motility!

  • @mschmitt17 that's so funny I made my husband do the same thing last cycle his count was 88 mil with 99 percent mobility.
  • Had my 10 day scan today and lets just say it wasn't what I expected. First I'm still bleeding so they prescribed estrace for me to take today and tomorrow night. Hoping that will stop it. My lining is a disappointing 6.6mm. Which hopefully will thicken when bleeding stops. But the shocker was I have 1 19mm on my left ovary and 2 follicles 14mm and 13 mm on my right ovary. Thinking of just converting this into tic. I'm exhausted and my body doesn't seem prepared this month at all uggh.
  • @rel_1987 that's so super frustrating! Hopefully your bleeding stops soon (I've used retrace on patients before and had it stop after one or two doses) so that you carry on with iui

i had my day 9 ultrasound today. My lining is only 5.6 (she didn't even comment on that?!) and I had a 14,12 and a few 10s..I'm hoping at least two then mature! Also, as I've mentioned before I'm. Skeptical of my clinic... I'm going to an info session tonight for center and I'll see what they say!
  • @meredithj123 I think with it being day 9 your lining has enough time to thicken. Have you ever tried evening primrose oil? I hope your info session gives you some peace about your clinic.
Afm the bleeding has slowed a little. Hoping my lining will thicken some too. I will talk to my doctor tomorrow if the bleeding stops or they want an update on Fri if I am still bleeding.
  • Had my Cd12 testing today and was a huge disappointment. Once again they said my progesterone was too high and would cancel the cycle. And I only had small follies. This happened to me last month as well. I guess they decided that I have to wait for AF to come this month, then will go on birth control for three weeks. Then wait for AF again and should be able to start my next cycle then. They said going on the birth control should help my progesterone level where it should be. Has anyone had experience with this? I'm super aggravated!

@rel_1987 Hopefully the bleeding will stop soon and it's great you have one mature follie and a couple more right behind!

@meredithj123 I feel CD 9 is still early and you definitely have time for your follies to mature. I believe the can grow a 1cm a day.

@sunnynat2015 I'm sorry they cancelled your cycle. Do they know what is causing your progesterone to be so high?
Afm I am blood free YAY. I still think we are going to do tic this cycle. I've been stressed from all of this. Even though my insurance covers iui 100% I want to make sure I'm not wasting tries.
  • J1006J1006 member
@meredithj123 I think CD9 is early. I never go in for a scan until CD11. And even after that I've had to wait a day or two before trigger for my follicles to mature. As for the lining, I've never been told a measurement just that it looks good. I have heard that pomegranate juice helps with lining. A cup a day. After I did that for a cycle, my doctor did comment that my lining was nice and thick...I still got a BFN that cycle but it's still worth a try.

@sunnynat2015. So sorry for the cancelled cycle. So frustrating!

AFM, I'm pretty sure this cycle is a bust. I'm 13dpIUI and BFN this morning with a FRER. DH and I decided to take time off and do IVF while I'm on summer break next year. Praying all of you get your BFPs!
  • @J1006 sorry for the Bfn. I hope that you habe success with ivf. And who knows maybe you could be one who gets a bfp while on a break. Regardless I wish you lots of success and baby dust along the way!!!
  • @J1006 sorry for your BFN. I know his disappointing that is. Enjoy your time off this year and hopefully it will happen when you're not thinking about it! Thanks for all of your support this month!
  • Whelp no luck with IUI #1.  15DPIUI and a BFN.  Stopped my progesterone last night and expect AF to be here in the next couple days.  On to IUI #2!

@marfi236 so sorry about your bfn. I was really depressed for a few days after but then I told myself that statistically my chances are better this cycle since the first one failed.

So I had my CD11 US today. I am so frustrated!!! So first of all I had 1 folly that was 20 and one at 16 and one at 14. The other day she told me I had one at 14 which was two days ago! Has anyone else had follys that grew so fast? I asked her why it was fast (and also because if we wait three days it might be huge!) and she told me it was 17 the other day (I have the picture from the us and it says 14). Then they gave me the option to trigger tonight and come in Sunday or to wait, check OPK tomorrow morning and if negative trigger tomorrow night (I decided on this option). My lining is only 5.6 but she said that's fine they just want it over 6 which is should be in a few days. I'm just feeling like they don't explain things very well and either I don't understand or they don't know what they are doing!! I'm a healthcare provider myself so I feel like if I can't figure out what's going on then the average person definitely can't! She also told me to stay off blogs hahahahahahah
