@purplg8r For the first appt- nothing unless you have any burning questions. S/he will be asking you a TON, and they won't be able to tell you too much without testing, so your follow up appt once all the tests are done is, IMO, way more important since its when you are finding out your diagnosis and then how to manage it. Do make sure they do an SSG or HSG before any fertility meds/IUI are done
@purplg8r ask questions about when they do monitoring and/or treatment appointment (some schedule different types of appointments at certain times of the day), if they offer weekend and holiday appointments, their success rates, etc. Also, one of my RE's first questions for us was how aggressive we wanted to be - so it's a good idea to have discussed this with YH first.
@beanship. @vflux33 I am FIRMLY #team get them every year; the insurance companies can shove it if they dont feel like paying for them annually bc that's who's behind the new recommendarions.

I had a very dear friend who hadn't had hers for 3 years bc of the new recommendations, and when she did go in, they found whatever stage was bad enough that she immediately went into major cancer treatment including chemo, radiation, and radical hysterectomy at like, 37??? Long story short, she was supposed to be one of my bridesmaids, and instead all I had there with me that day was her memory and a picture on a side table. :'( I cant help but think if she had kept going in yearly, she might still be alive right now. No joke. Just get it. If her story can save another woman's life / uterus, then maybe it doesn't have to be in vain. RIP Karen O.

Worst case they find something they can treat easily/now, bc they probably won't want to treat anything once you are ku and you'd be waiting another 9 months for treatment. Best case, nothing's wrong and you can carry that extra peace of mind with you throughout your (immenent) pregnancy!!!!

@BusinessWife Point well made. I had an abnormal pap 10 years ago and asked my OB if that 3 year guideline was still ok for me, and she said yes (ETA: bitch...WASN'T okay apparently!!). I'll make the appointment and insist on paying for a pap smear if the insurance company won't. You're right that no amount of money is worth it. I'm so, so sorry for your loss.
@beanship. Ya that's the thing. It probably IS totally fine. But in the off chance it's not??? Soooo not worth it. But the insurance companies make waaaay more money billing for cancer treatment than preventative medicine so... :/ ughh
My appt is done. It went well! Since I started surging on my own, they skipped the ICI and went straight to IUI today so no double insemination. I'm feeling crampy but it was painless! Now the waiting begins!
ETA and we're on our way to the home inspection now! What a day.
@TravelingCouple YES! All done and now pupo! @BusinessWife OMG... I def get my pap yearly... I never heard of these new recommendations and all my docs seem to think once a year for sure! I'm so so sorry about your friend.... its so awful. Its definitely worth the oop if necessary. Thank you for sharing that!
@BusinessWife that is terrifying! I'm so sorry about your friend.
@lund I'm so sorry about your AMH. That's great that your H is on board for IVF if that's the path you need to take.

@LeilaK9288 It is hard not to try and plan everything. Us IF warriors just want to find control in something that we can't control, so making a million plans helps to make us feel like we can maintain some sanity. I get it. It doesn't help to hear it, but it works, honestly, its one step at a time. You can only plan for the visit with the urologist right now. So look up your questions and ask us about procedures so that when things come up in the appointment you either know what the hell he is talking about or you know what follow up questions to ask. That's what I do to help me feel like I am still in control of something that both MH and I can't fix right away.

AFM- My husband had his appt at the Urologist on Monday and everything looks good. The Dr. told him his morph % was fine, but when he had his SA done at OHSU they said it was low (20% and they like to see 30%)? So who knows. I have my HSG tomorrow...getting excited!!
ETA Not excited that I have to have an HSG...excited that if/when everything is cleared there, we can move on with IUI

I've found that morph is a widely debated thing, and the actual method in which they do the SA influences how it should be interpreted.
My OB thought that our world was ending and that we had no chance of getting KU with my DH's SA, and then my RE was like "meh, it's fine. No big deal". RE also said that he always looks at count and motility as better indicators of fertility. But, again, I'm sure you could find plenty of doctors who would disagree with that.
@beanship I had to do that with my FF when I first started it too. What sucks is that then when I did have "regular" cycles under the influence of fertility drugs, it would never guesstimate the right cycle length because it didn't understand why I went from 60+ day cycles to ~30. And now it's starting to realize my cycles are shorter and I'm just starting a fertility drug break so I'm really going to confuse it again. FF hates PCOS.
Recording from the Fertility Friend customer service hotline:
Me: "Hi, your app is broken." FF: "How long is your usual cycle?" Me: -long explanation ensues- FF: "Ma'am, I think your body is broken." Me: "Can it really be broken, though, with moves like this?"

@lund Yeah, the Urologist said they consider anything above 15% to be "normal". Don't get me wrong, I would be thrilled to have one less thing to worry about, buuut I'm also a fan of consistency so...
So much for waiting for the urologist appointment on Friday. The fertility clinic called H today with the results and since his smile was so big and he was basically dancing as he asked me if I wanted to know, I had to find out.
5 months of clomid=47 sperm.
So, urologist on Friday and then scheduling an appt with the fertility clinic to see what this IVF ICIS PGD game is all about!
@lund and @Hollyyyyy FWIW, they didn't even/couldn't even comment on MH morph with 47 sperm... motility was 13%, not that it matters with ICIS.

I picked my Ovidrel up from the pharmacy today. So the REs instructions say 250 mcg subcutaneous. The pharmacy gave me TWO doses of .5ml. TWO. Uh did anyone else have to give themselves two shots for their trigger? Edit: autocorrect......
Re: IF/Testing Weekly Check In June 26

ok Question: I called today and got an RE appt for Monday (yay! I was expecting it to take longer).
What at questions do I need to ask him?
