I'm having on and off cramping, and hoping this is good thing. I'm going to call my RE tomorrow and see if I can get in for a beta a day earlier than they wanted. I hope so, because I have tomorrow off, and wednesday is a full 10 hour day of work, so I would have to wait even longer on wednesday.
@dragonette505 I'm sorry you're feeling unwell, I hope you get to trigger soon. Hang in there! you're in the home stretch!
@tinjp78 waiting for those embryology reports is nerve wracking, I'm praying for your 2 remaining embabies; hopefully they will continue to grow!
@southerngirl31 congrats on the transfer! The wait for beta is excruciating! just try to stay busy, if you can

@tinjp78 glad one is frozen and others are cooking. Did they say if all 4 fertilized. Is there a difference between the icsi and the reg IVF? Depending on my eggs and OH sample we usually did 1/2 and 1/2 too. praying hard your other 2 fighters pull through!
dragonette505 i just cringed reading your update, i tossed my vitamins before I MC it like my body was starting to reject everything Has that ever happened during ER? Heres a question for you so I've been taking prenatals for easily over 2 yrs now and we figure out I'm taking regular PNV without the DHA, I just started those about a week ago now. How bad is it that I haven't been taking them this whole time. Why my RE was first telling me this now when we went over that brand of pill back in 2/2016 completely aggravates me! My regular OB gave me the scrip to get me started but then she took over.

@Hopeful_mom awwww, (tw) my last mc I JUST started feeling nausea like the day before I started spotting! It was such a mindf*ck because I was like: yes! Morning sickness.... nope! Sucked so bad. I have had nausea before but only with high estrogen close to retrieval.... my estrogen wasn't so high yesterday so I dunno. Hope it doesn't mean it's jumped up high. It was like 1600 or so I think yesterday. Last cycle it was over 6000!! Cray! Honestly I think you are good as far as pnv. I have been on a super duper pnv for years because I have celiacs and so I might not be always properly absorbing. Pnv's are for the baby, and you don't have a baby in you yet.... it's really so your body doesn't have to leech nutrients from you to feed the baby. It's good you're on a better one heading into your transfer, tho!
@hopefulmom I think the DHA is supposed to help with brain development, so you're totally fine to start that around the time of transfer.

Thanks @Hopeful_mom for the prayers. I truly appreciate it. Only 3 of my eggs were fertilized. I'm suspecting the one we've put under IVF didn't make it. Here's the difference between the two:
IVF: The sperms are left to fertilize the egg on a Petri dish.
ICSI: Sperms are given an extra boost to get into the egg. A sperm is selected and injected in the egg using a micromanipulator.
tinjp78 its so tough to figure it all out. I've been through this quite a few times sorry if my post confused you. My RE likes to always do 1/2 and 1/2. This last cycle they didn't love my OH sample and we did icsi for all. Its so interesting how it all works and crazy that an IUI doesn't work for everyone and we need even more help
ReesaAnne16 thanks for the info that does make me feel better! I'm getting excited for your beta!!

@Hopeful_mom physically I mostly feel okay, just fat from all the recent food-therapy ;) mostly this knot in my chest/tummy feels pretty awful, like sick from worry. Trying not to think about it... we have a lot to do here today to keep us occupied, and so far all we have done is a couple loads of laundry and eat lunch. Lol
@tinjp78 my first 2 cycles were all typical wash fertilization. But since then we've done total icsi... just takes the guesswork out! @Hopeful_mom I know.... I couldn't believe how high my E2 got. I mean I was getting up there but I feel like I went from 3 to 6 k out of nowhere. And that was before trigger. I thought they'd maybe do dual trigger on me but the went with a full 10k dose of hcg.... you can imagine how I felt after that! And they still didn't think I'd get ohss (even though I'd just had it the cycle before!) Anyway.... new clinic so they are aware of my risk and maybe that's why they've kept my doses lower than before. @BusinessWife ugh! I know that feeling! It just lingers around waiting for you to focus on it. You're smart to keep busy and occupied!
My US went great--more than 2 folliles at around 22 and the rest were about 18. triggering tonight for Wednesday morning retrieval!! Hallelujah!!

Wow, so much news here! I feel like I need to get push notifications!
@tinjp78: I'm sorry that your DH is sad that you didn't get a different outcome, but it truly only takes one! And you have such a wonderful perspective -- you inspire me! Freezing of the one is excellent news and two more in the running. Will be thinking of you and your embies and hoping for even better news soon!
@tnh0413: What wonderful numbers! Sounds like you are good and ready! Can't wait to hear your about your ER!
@Malibu45: WOOT WOOT! How amazing to see those positives!!! Can't wait to hear about your beta!
@BusinessWife Wife: Who are these people that do such things?!? Ugh. Sorry for that. I know how stressful this week is, so hang in there. I typically get updates on Days 2, 3, 5-7 (and my RE counts the ER day as Day 1, not 0). I'm not sure which way is better: No updates until Day 5 or continuous updates. All I know is that I shake and feel sick every time that call comes in, especially on Day 5. This time, I'm not expecting anything to make it to blast stage by Day 5 (I've never had any make it by that day, only by ay 6) which is kinda typical for older gals I was told), so this way, I won't be as disappointed.
AFM: I think I have about 11 follicles still, but a few were only at 8-10mm as of Saturday, so I'm not sure those will make it to the right stage by tomorrow. My prediction is that we will get about 8-10 eggs with maybe half mature? I just seem to be responding slower this time, despite being on the same exact protocol, and being a high responder during my last 2 cycles. I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that I had been through a FET cycle in July? I have to wonder, as I just can't understand why there has been such a difference. Plus, I had 18 follicles counted as baseline. I'm sure the answer from my RE will be: "Every cycle is different", but I'm sure a little researcher, that I feel like there has to be a reason out there!
Me: 41; DH: 45 Both married for the first time in our 40s; went straight to IVF after multiple fibroid surgeries (2/17) ER: #1: agonist/antagonist protocol: 19 eggs; 8 mature; 13 fertilized; 1 7-day blast (6BA = abnormal/non-viable) (4/17) ER: #2: same protocol but stimmed an extra 2 days: 16 eggs; 10 mature (5 more matured in lab); 13 fertilized; 2 6-day blasts (5AA & 6BA) & 2 7-day blasts (6BA & 5BB): only 1 Day 6 6BA tested normal! FET on 7/10/17 Beta on 7/21/17: Negative:( (8/17) ER #3: 9 eggs; 6 mature; 3 fertilized; 1 7-day blast (6BA = abnormal/non-viable) Developed severe complications (abdominal bleeding) following egg retrieval which required hospitalization, transfusion & emergency surgery. Done with IVF.
@BusinessWife some people are so rude. I interact with obviously pregnant women on a regular basis and I still don't mention it unless they do first. Anyway I'm sure you looked amazing in they dress.
@tinjp78 Really hoping your other 2 pull through and it's great that you have one frozen already!
So today I had 8 follies with the largest at 19 and smallest at 10. The nurse said we may get 3-4 eggs . I will stim for one more day then trigger tomorrow night for Thursday retrieval. I'm just hoping we don't lose too many along the way since we are starting out with so few. We also changed our mind and decided to try a fresh transfer sine I haven't had much side effects from the stims (probably since I have so few follicles) so I don't feel like I need much time to recover. Question for you all who have done a retrieval. My job is expecting that I will request a day off for the procedure but I am already off on Thursday. I am wondering if I should request Friday off as well? I would feel bad missing Friday because they are short staffed that day but if I do go it will be a long and difficult day for me and I am not sure if I will be fully recovered. I also spend most of the day on my feet and I don't want to be exhausted if I have to go for transfer over the weekend. How did you all feel the day after your retrieval? Is going tot work the next day a good idea?
@angelbea it sux but it's true each cycle is different.... it's also because your basic body chemistry changes all the time, so how you respond to stims is always a moving target. What they also don't tell you is that antral follicle count can change DAILY when you're not stimming, so when they say 18 before you start your meds, it's just an estimate since if they looked the day before or after the number might differ. It's still a good estimate though and it's totally possible you've got 18 but only 11 of a size where they expect mature eggs, so they are focusing on those. It's really better to think about those because it doesn't matter if they get 20 from you if only 10 are mature... 11 is AWESOME. And I hope I can be this lucky!!! (Though I am not holding out hope for that many) I know it's so stressful but I'm sending good vibes to your big eggs!!! One cycle I had 14 antral follicles going into ivf.... on day 3 of my period I had 2!!!! 2!!!! Like how?!? I only had one follie in each ovary and I was devastated. But I ended up with like 17 so who even knows! It's such a roller coaster...,
@tnh0413: yay you're so close and have nice growth on them together - quality over quantity! We know every person and cycle is different which is tough to hear too. Some ladies will get 20 at ER and still end up with 4 come blast day...sounds like you're doing great and hoping they'll all fertilize perfectly for you!! @angelbea this pertains to you too huh...I know its so frustrating but you're still responding nicely and i'm hoping this will be your golden batch!
safire3 i know it gets really hard to hear quality over quantity over and over...as thats all i would hear. My very first cycle I only had 3 and they all fertilized. Hoping these are your strong mamas ready to go! As for needing time off, if you have the time then it couldn't hurt to take it. Each time is different. I did go to work the day after BUT other times I had the weekend to re-coop. Is your ER early in the AM? Mine usually are so i have the while day. If your first having it done after 1p might take you longer to bounce back.

@safire3 take the Friday if you think you need it. It's hard to get fert reports at work! Just keep in mind that if you do a 5 day transfer you will need Tuesday off too. If you do. 3 day it will fall on Sunday I guess. I didn't ever need more than retrieval day to recover, but I have a desk job. As for your numbers.... all you need is one!!
@Hopeful_mom thanks that's a good point. I know we will be scheduled for the morning but I think it also depends on how many retrievals that day.
@dragonette505 I was also thinking about that. If I get a bad report at work I don't know what I would do because I can't just leave with my job but I can't see myself making it through the day either. I work from home on Tuesdays as well so I should be ok for the transfer on either day 3 or 5.
@Hopeful_mom ... Looking at my previous post, I felt silly having stated an obvious fact. I'm so sorry for that. My info on IVF is very elementary. I'm really learning a lot from all of you here.
@BusinessWife... thinking of you. I hope you feel better soon.
@tnh0413 wooohooo! I'm excited for you! I hope and pray your trigger day and ER would all be ok! Please remember to drink lots of water
@angelbea Thanks. I'm glad to know that I've inspired you. I think that's one thing I can do for now because with the little info I have with this science, I don't think I could contribute on the education part. Oh here's one more, The morning of my ER, during my quiet time, the word for me was, God is doing something new (1 Thessalonians 3:6-13). I think this holds true for you too. I'm praying for you.
@safire3 I guess taking as much rest possible after the ER would be a good choice, your body deserves it. I'm excited for your progress!!!
@safire3. I had to work the next day, but I would have preferred not to. I did start feeling a bit better later on, but I was definitely a bit green first thing the next morning. I am also on my feet the whole time, so that wasn't maybe ideal, either. I would say it definitely depends at least a little bit on your job. :/
Interestingly enough, my Beta is scheduled for next Monday, and now it looks like we may be getting hit by a hurricane that Monday. Way to throw some fun into the mix, Mother Nature!!!
Woah! @southerngirl31 I pray for everyone's safety and that hurricane won't come. Before I started my IVF, I prepared for many things and hoped that no interference would happen. But then, on my trigger shot day last Aug 30, North Korea fired a missile that just went over us (I'm here in Japan). Although there was no damage, events like these would normally make us down but I know it won't be helpful for my health at all. So, I just laughed at it treated it as a joke. North Korea is joking!
@tinjp78 oh my gosh! You're so right these stressful situations are not helpful for health at all. Praying for safety and stress free IVF all around! ❤️
@southerngirl31 what state are you in? I am in Florida so definitely anxious about the hurricane. It looks like if it hits us (which I'm praying it doesn't) it would be just after my retrieval but it could affect my transfer. I also wonder if a storm hits does an embryologist stay in the lab with the embabies? This is the last thing we need right now!
@safire3 I'm in southeast Georgia. (Savannah) I work in medical research, so trust me your embabies are fine! They have the labs hooked to power sources in case of power outrage and are closely monitored. We also always have staff that stay back that work in our med labs, so they will be well looked after. I hope and pray the storm misses us both all together, we are still recovering from hurricane Matthew here and that was only category 2 when it made landfall for us. Florida seems to always end up getting something but let's hope for just a little rain and that thing to turn back out to sea!
Ahh ladies ! I've been so out of it today and I can't remember for the life of me if I took my night time dose of crinone. What do I do ??

Ahh ladies ! I've been so out of it today and I can't remember for the life of me if I took my night time dose of crinone. What do I do ??
I def had a day like this.... depends on how many doses you take a day . I was on 3 a day and figured it would be ok( nobody ever said I had low progesterone, so my body was making some too, I'm sure!) if you're on one dose take it as soon as you remember. If that was last night and now it's today, just take your morning dose and don't worry about it. We are only given supplementary progesterone as a safety measure, but with your positives, it's likely your body is making some too
Well, I broke down and left a message for the covering nurse this week... not sure if she will get back to me with any update today, or better still, this morning before I go into work, but I figure it's worth a shot...
@Malibu45. I agree with PPs, no harm in taking an extra one when you remember. Omg I guess that's a hazard or taking gel/suppositories/ tablets - I thinking would be pretty hard to forget taking a bum-shot of PIO! :'( GL with your next few scans!!!!
@BusinessWife I hope they can tell you (unless the reason they are not is that they are trying to not disturb them)???
AFM.... Still looking like 15 and she seems happy with their progress. Largest today is a couple of 20's and on down the line to smallest a couple of 10's (assholes! lol) who are being annoying and I might as well forget about them. I'm super fatigued and I'm def feeling my ovaries. She says shed like to go one more day (tonight) but depending on my bloodwork trigger should be tomorrow or tonight if based on bloodwork we need to go early. Shes now got me doing Ganirelix both am and pm (never did that before) and she didn't mention what she would want me to do with the HGH (I had hoped she would up the dose of that). I got the dual trigger explained to me (in case I have to trigger tonight) and oddly they have me taking it in my upper arm... another first for me! Has anyone else triggered in their upper arm? WTF?? Also since I'm doing a freeze all they say they probably wont make me take antibiotics which I'm happy about. There was something else I wanted to say but I cant remember because I have hormone fog brain Heres hoping I can trigger soon!
My clinic would NOT test me a day early... I'm so pissed. I think I'm really afraid to get bad news also and wanted to get it on my day off instead of a work day.

@dragonette505 Hello. I had my trigger in my upper arm as well as all the HMG shots I got for stimming. I'm cheering for you and your trigger tonight or tomorrow!
@BusinessWife I hope they'd give you your updates soon. I'm also curious why they'd need 'til Thursday to give you any info.
@dragonette505. The nurse called back to say there woukd be no updates till Thursday. I think she did say that the first time, they don't like to disturb the embryos. But just ughh. And the brain fog is real! Hang in there. You will be triggering and counting your eggs before you know it ;)
@ReesaAnne16 Oh no! That's a bummer they wouldn't test you early! Let's hope for the best... ;)
@ReesaAnne16 Ugh! That's so annoying.. especially with the storm coming up... I'd grab some HPT's maybe? Or are you being very firm in not pre-testing?
@tinjp78 Wow.. did you do any shots in your belly or thighs? Ive only ever done daily shots in belly or thigh and trigger in belly or hip/backside.
@BusinessWife I figured that might be the case, and I guess its not like they can do much as far as changing the outcome... looking only lets them see whats up on that day.... Well, maybe its better, tbh... the updates are horribly nerve wracking.
Re: Anyone doing IVF in July/August?
@tnh0413 good luck at your appointment today!
@southerngirl31 congrats on the transfer! The wait for beta is excruciating! just try to stay busy, if you can

dragonette505 i just cringed reading your update, i tossed my vitamins before I MC it like my body was starting to reject everything Has that ever happened during ER? Heres a question for you so I've been taking prenatals for easily over 2 yrs now and we figure out I'm taking regular PNV without the DHA, I just started those about a week ago now. How bad is it that I haven't been taking them this whole time. Why my RE was first telling me this now when we went over that brand of pill back in 2/2016 completely aggravates me! My regular OB gave me the scrip to get me started but then she took over.

IVF: The sperms are left to fertilize the egg on a Petri dish.
ICSI: Sperms are given an extra boost to get into the egg. A sperm is selected and injected in the egg using a micromanipulator.
ReesaAnne16 thanks for the info that does make me feel better! I'm getting excited for your beta!!
dragonette505 6000 is cray cray!!! I have nausea ALL THE TIME!!! Which sucks as you can think you're preggers all the time

Dx: MFI
TTC since 2016
August 2017: IVF #1 (11 eggs retrieved, 8 mature, 3 fertilized with ICIS, 2 Frozen)
FET #1: October 11th -- Beta only 12. CP
FET #2: January 12th -- BFP!
Both married for the first time in our 40s; went straight to IVF after multiple fibroid surgeries
(2/17) ER: #1: agonist/antagonist protocol: 19 eggs; 8 mature; 13 fertilized; 1 7-day blast (6BA = abnormal/non-viable)
(4/17) ER: #2: same protocol but stimmed an extra 2 days: 16 eggs; 10 mature (5 more matured in lab); 13 fertilized; 2 6-day blasts (5AA & 6BA) & 2 7-day blasts (6BA & 5BB): only 1 Day 6 6BA tested normal!
FET on 7/10/17
Beta on 7/21/17: Negative:(
(8/17) ER #3: 9 eggs; 6 mature; 3 fertilized; 1 7-day blast (6BA = abnormal/non-viable)
Developed severe complications (abdominal bleeding) following egg retrieval which required hospitalization, transfusion & emergency surgery. Done with IVF.
One cycle I had 14 antral follicles going into ivf.... on day 3 of my period I had 2!!!! 2!!!! Like how?!? I only had one follie in each ovary and I was devastated. But I ended up with like 17 so who even knows! It's such a roller coaster...,
safire3 i know it gets really hard to hear quality over quantity over and over...as thats all i would hear.

@dragonette505 I was also thinking about that. If I get a bad report at work I don't know what I would do because I can't just leave with my job but I can't see myself making it through the day either.
I work from home on Tuesdays as well so I should be ok for the transfer on either day 3 or 5.
@dragonette505 I'm also praying for you! (((Hugs)))

@Malibu45. I agree with PPs, no harm in taking an extra one when you remember. Omg I guess that's a hazard or taking gel/suppositories/ tablets - I thinking would be pretty hard to forget taking a bum-shot of PIO! :'( GL with your next few scans!!!!
There was something else I wanted to say but I cant remember because I have hormone fog brain
Heres hoping I can trigger soon!
My clinic would NOT test me a day early... I'm so pissed. I think I'm really afraid to get bad news also and wanted to get it on my day off instead of a work day.

@BusinessWife I hope they'd give you your updates soon. I'm also curious why they'd need 'til Thursday to give you any info.
@ReesaAnne16 Oh no! That's a bummer they wouldn't test you early! Let's hope for the best... ;)
