@lulu1180 your new cat is adorable!! I've recently been thinking about getting a cat and DH thinks I'm crazy because we're both super allergic. Supposedly there are cats that are less allergenic than others so there may be hope yet!

When I made the one that turned into a nightmare this week I just copy and pasted from the last one and wasn't feeling bold enough to add more due to the whole thread a month or so ago (?) where folks talked about changes and it didn't end super well. I think you nailed it and glad you had the balls I lacked

A film version of the Newsies broadway musical came out today and I'm watching it and keep tearing up. It's not like it's particularly moving, I just love it so much. Although I'm a lyric purist so I'm not happy they changed some lines.

@eggplantface my sister-in-law loves Newsies. She even walked down the aisle to one of the songs (I can't remember which... I may have been very drunk at my brother's wedding).

@shortstack930 British shorthairs (the 'I Can Haz Cheeseburger' cat) can be hypoallergenic. My mom has two, and my uncle who is super allergic can pet them just fine.

Thanks for all the well wishes, everyone! Just another reason why I love this community. I'm hoping our timing with his visit will work out well, and I even bought my first BBT thermometer and am going to start temping! But even if it doesn't line up perfectly, I'm so psyched to see my husband. I kind of want to just plan what I'm going to cook for him all night, but my interview is tomorrow so I should probably prep for that.

Uggghhhh I accidentally got a medication in my eye at work (no idea how, no recollection of it) but one of its uses is to dilate pupils, but like dilate the fuck out of them way more than what you'd get for an exam at the eye doctor. My pupil is SO HUGE and the doctor said it will take 24-48 hours to go back to normal!!! And I didn't even notice it and one of my coworkers freaked out when she saw me and thought I was having a stroke. So today has been a day lol.

I freaked everyone out big time but once the neurologist figured out what was wrong (my lucky day she was in clinic!) we were definitely all laughing at what a dumbass I am lol.

@eggplantface I walked down the aisle to "you're my best friend" by queen and then we walked down together to Paradise City by guns and roses...both acoustic guitar versions but it was awesome.

@icecubeinthedesert She is a she and her name is Bea. We got her from a shelter so we're not certain but every vet we've been to thinks she's a puggle (pug/beagle).

@Avrilmai I'm stopping at home after work to switch cars with DH and grab all the wine and food and wine. Then I'm heading out. I'm going to miss you guys but I'll lurk and love tit the isht out of everyone as much as I can.

I'm glad you guys liked it. We can tweak it as we go. The thing that some people don't quite understand is that it's impossible to have a hard and fast rule. It's more like porn versus art. You can't exactly define it but you know it when you see it.

@leekat14 Aw, those are both great tunes to walk down the aisle to! I love that you chose the acoustic versions. Very Romantic.
I walked down to an instrumental version of Rascal Flatts' Broken Road (our song  ) and then, at the end, we both walked away to Jack Johnson's Better Together. I'd love to hear about what everyone else walked down the aisle to or danced to at their wedding. Do you guys think that that would be a good GTKY?

@pebbledam Yeah, that sounds a little weird to me, unless it's got some family or cultural significance, which I doubt for some reason. I love classic names and am a big believer in the resume test (would it sound legit on a resume?). I feel like people just make shit up to be you-neek these days though and I'm not loving it.

@kbamomma33 I'm also not a fan of 'unique' names. I've worked with kids for over a decade and I've seen a lot of interesting names- including a girl named Unique!

@pebbledam I don't understand unique names at all. DH works in social services so he's seen some weird ones including La-a (pronounced La-dash-a).

@Avrilmai I wish I could but the place we're staying doesn't allow dogs. Plus if we brought her I'd have to be responsible for her and my plan for the weekend is:

@pebbledam That is an odd one. I actually like some weird names, but I think not all weird names are created equal. MH has one of the 5 most common male first names and he is not into it at all and wants potential kids to have something with more character--different, but not too weird.

@vflux33 - I like names that are obscure or maybe a little unpopular, but so many names just SOUND made up just for the sake of being made up. L-a definitely takes the cake, though. An aquaintance from back home had a son named Quentin and then 7 years later named her daughter Quenlee. Why!?

@vflux33 I don't mind some uncommon names. DH has a very rare, biblical name (as do his brothers), and he got made fun of throughout his school years, so he's determined that our kids will have 'normal' names (and he doesn't understand why his brothers gave his kids names similar to theirs).

I wanted to name a future son Wadsworth but DH said no. I also - and this one I still really want - wanted to name a future daughter Elladora (like from Harry Potter!), but DH said no. He said we can't name our kids after HP villains. Sigh. 

He wanted to name a future son Wedge, though, (from Star Wars books?) so we're both nuts.

I have a friend who pushed his wife to name their boy "Ulysses". They bailed though!

MH and I both really like the name "Persephone". If she hadn't become queen of the underworld we would probably still be considering it, but we don't want to take any chances.

If she wouldn't get horribly made fun of, I would name a girl Galadriel.  I think it's a beautiful name but most likely too unique for a child
