@jsnakehole - I was out of town for the weekend and super pissed that I couldn't binge watch all of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt season 3. I'm only 3 episodes in, but so far so good!
I also don't like the squatty potty but DH loves it. Sometimes I use it if I'm struggling (TMI?) but other than that, I don't use it. I can't control #1 while #2 and the squatty potty is not the best angle for #1. LOL

I'm afraid of the ocean, particularly of tsunamis and sleeper aka sneaker waves. But the only places that weren't crazy hot for hiking last weekend were at the beach. We decided to go to a new one we hadn't seen before and drove over an hour to get there, and it was gorgeous in that cliffy dreamy foggy kind of way. We get out of the car and start wandering around, and about 30 seconds later saw this.
@justkeepswimming8 - For your reasons listed, you have confirmed that I will not be getting a squatty potty! Lol. @vflux33 - Run away! Lunch sounds waaay safer. Good call.

I forgot to tell you ladies that DH and I got a kitty last weekend! She's adorable and fluffy and sniffly and lovey and we adore her! She and the dog are still getting to know each other but there's less hissing every day lol. We haven't decided in a name yet and I'm tempted to just call her She Who Shall Not Be Named lol.

@kiwi2628 They're terrifying. I've had a recurring nightmare about them since I was a kid. Are you east coast? I think they're more common in the Pacific. I mean, I wouldn't turn my back on the ocean either way, but I'd be way less afraid of them in the Atlantic.
@lulu1180 So cute! I'm jealous. MH still has another 2 years of allergy shots until we can get a cat (or get my cat back from family if she's in good enough shape to travel still). We named the cats that prowl our neighborhood and pine over them daily. I like to live vicariously through other people's kitties so your pics kind of made my day
@vflux33 I am east coast. I also dont go into water unless I can see the bottom, so I basically never swim or even go into the ocean in the northeast because it cloudy as shit and its cold and terrible and...you know what? I'll be fine, lol
Guys, I need to stop being a bitch to my mom, but I can't help myself. I swear if she asks me one more time how to make a recipe that she taught me how to make I'm going to lose my mind. (She does not have alzheimers or dementia - she's been tested.) She is just so effing insecure that she can't even realize that she knows how to do the thing BECAUSE SHE CREATED THE THING!! I've explained this one recipe BACK TO HER easily 25 times in the last 3 years, and yet, every time she stays with us, "How do you make this again?" Lawd, grant me patience.
@lulu1180 - OMG LOOK AT YOUR CAT!! HER CUTE LITTLE TOES!!!
@doxiemoxie212 - Ugh, I feel ya on the mom thing. I visited my mom this past weekend. I had really been dreading it. My mom does a similar forgetful thing, but I think it's because my mom drinks waaaaayyyy too much. The funny thing is (actually funny isn't the right word here), my MIL does have dementia, and I have infinitely more patience for her!
As for the squatty potty we have 2 at work. One of my coworkers ran a long campaign trying to convince the office that we needed one. (It was actually a really funny over the top presentation and then wrote a proposal) We now have 2. I constantly kick the thing bc it is wrapped around the toilet, but I have found it useful at times.

@justkeepswimming8@doxiemoxie212@pebbledam RE: squattypotties - FWIW we just use a step stool (maybe 8" tall?), so your legs can still be in front but still get a lift. We love it.
@vflux33 I was also raised with a healthy fear of the Pacific and sleeper waves. Recurring dreams sound awful though...
@lulu1180 What a cutie! She looks just like my cat Luna from when I was a kid
@doxiemoxie212 Sorry your mom is driving you nuts... I think she and my mom may have some things in common. Could she be lonely and just looking for an excuse to call you up to talk?

I got a squatty potty on Prime day a while back. H hates it and refuses to use it even though he needs it more than me. I enjoy it and feel a difference in ease. I'm probably confusing our cleaning lady though, because she doesn't seem to know what it is (one time I came home and she had put it in the shower). I think she thinks it's a step stool for a child to pee in the toilet.

@eggplantface We had a squatty potty and I liked it, but MH hated it too and refused to bring it with us when we moved. Our last place was pre-furnished and the bed was one of the beds you could store things in. So he insisted on leaving it there underneath the mattress for the next tenant for some reason. And now there are strangers sleeping on our squatty potty
@hedgepig no, she's staying with us right now (for 3 weeks), but even when she isn't we talk all the time. I don't mind spending time with her generally. I'm an only child, and my parents separated when I was pretty young so in a lot of ways we're more like sisters even though she's 40 years older than I am. But it honestly gets so exhausting being more of the adult and her more of the child, which is how our relationship has been for almost my entire life. She defers to me on every decision in her life, which is nice sometimes, but also drives me up the effing wall sometimes. Like, have a backbone, have an opinion.
@vflux33 tsunamis legit terrify me! I'm on the east coast so it's not as much of a concern. But I did have a panic attack a few years ago in Jamica during dinner thinking about how close we were sitting to the ocean in the dark. Never heard of a sneaker wave so add that to my list of scary ocean shit
