@achays11 this wind has seriously suuuucked. Our allergies are crazy because of all the blooms from rain & I swear it feels like our apartment will blow down. Hoping you have a good day at Disneyland tomorrow! Mmmm churros...
@nda_roxybabe this is so out of nowhere but I was combing through some old threads I missed back in the day and saw your username explanation. I, too, was completely obsessed with Roxy, and had Roxy stickers everywhere & ads pasted all over my room. I wanted to work for them so badly and ended up landing an internship there, It's what's brought me to CA! People really do skateboard down the halls and they actually took me surfing during lunch! I will always have love for Roxy
@nda_roxybabe Are you referencing JITT? I went last night. It was a ton of walking and I was so uncomfortable. But I love that market, so it was worth it. I started going to the fri night opening because I hate the Saturday crowd. I've never been Sunday and I've always wondered if it was a bit smaller crowd. I think a lot of the vendors restock for Sunday.
Here's a kind of interesting article about different Meyers Briggs personality types as they tend to relate to parenting...remembering back a million years ago when we had a thread on our types...I'm ENTJ most times that I've taken the test, and I think I would be the worst at being a SAHM...this seems pretty spot on for me. Interesting how many men say they would want to stay at home... https://www.workingmother.com/what-kind-parent-are-you-personality-type-deciding-factor?src=SOC&dom=fb#page-2
Alright, I know we've covered this before, but my search attempts weren't effective. I'm making sure we have some diapers on hand, but don't want to go overboard. If I get about 20 days worth of newborns, does that sound like a good starting point? My thinking is I can always order more pretty cheap through Amazon, but getting twice that sounds like it might be overkill...maybe?. Also, I assume most kids would be in size 1 for quite a while? A few months?
I attempted to attack the multiple baskets of laundry strewn about the house, but DD kept coming in so I'm going to park my arse on the couch tonight and fold fold fold. I did sort the basket of clothes we have for DS (we were given the majority of it for Christmas) and realized just how much I still need so I will be doing some shopping this week.
I'll be asking my OB this week to write an Rx for a pump, and one of the in-network DME providers lists the Spectra as an option so I'm going to request that one. I have a Medela PISA from when I had DD that I need to dig out and see if it even still works.
It’s not that I don’t like you, it’s that I don’t know you. Stranger Danger.

Here's what I have right now- 2 boxes of newborns, 2 boxes of size 1, 1 box of size 2. I know that personally I like Huggies Diapers so I was comfortable buying that many. For a FTM I always suggest starting with a small amount or a few different brands so you can figure out what you like the best! The hospital will give you some newborn (two different hospitals have both given me Pampers which I don't mind using since they are free!) I wouldn't suggest buying too many diapers because it's pretty easy to order from Amazon or pick up at Target quickly. And don't open all the boxes because most places will let you exchange for a different size if you find that your baby has outgrown them faster than expected!

@starphish18: That sounds right to me! I think I have around the same amount (two weeks-ish plus a ton of 1s). You're right about always being able to buy more, so planning too far ahead isn't really necessary. The trick with newborn diapers and clothes is that if you have a big baby, you potentially could skip right over the smaller sizes. But the N diapers I think are sized up to 10 lbs., so I'd bet you'd use them all (as long as it's not like 3 months' worth).
@hp_momma You mentioned starting with a small amount of different brands, which definitely makes sense. We were gifted 3 little packs of newborns, some huggies and some pampers. But they'll only last us a week or so. So, I want to get more, and I'd love to take advantage of the target deal next week. I'm just having a hard time deciding whether I want to "go for it" and buy boxes (and potential return them if I find I like a different brand), or whether I want to buy a couple packs and go from there. It's just so much cheaper buying the boxes.

I'm not buying any NB size until I see what the hospital sends us home with, and we did the same with DD when she was born. We went home with a couple small packages. We also had some NB size we were given at DD's shower so I don't believe we ever had to buy very many if at all. If we do have to buy any, they'll be smaller quantities. I have a big case of Size 1 I got on my last Subscribe & Save order, but the NB case available for S&S was just way too big LOL!
It’s not that I don’t like you, it’s that I don’t know you. Stranger Danger.
@starphish18 Definitely cheaper to buy the boxes! I'd ask Target if you can exchange the diapers for a different brand if you decide what you buy isn't what you like! And get maybe 1 box of newborns and a couple size 1s since you already have some newborns and aren't sure how big baby will be. Size 1s *should* last you a few months. I don't think my girls (both born right around 8lbs and average growers) were in size 2s until closer to 5-6 months old.

I didnt buy any nb diapers for this LO because I want to see how big he comes out. Dd was born 7lb7oz and took about 2 weeks to get back to her birth weight. We went up to size 1 by the time she was 3 weeks old. I did stock up quite a bit in size 1 and 2 but didnt open any yet in case I need to exchange in size or brand (in case of a rash).
@pshaortao Do you know if Target lets you exchange for a different brand? I've always used Huggies but I have heard that people prefer different brands for boys vs girls.

I honestly have no idea since I've never tried to but pampers and huggies are the same price so I don't see why not? Hopefully it's not something I will need to do though. We use both brands, but have mostly pampers than huggies for this LO so far.
@starphish18 my son probably could have done NB for a few weeks but since I didn't have any I used folded down 1's just fine. This go baby is measuring a little smaller so I just got the one small box of NB and have two of the gigantic boxes of 1's.
@Kipperoo no wonder you're my toddler raising twin, female ENTJ's are amazing and rare. I always thought that in a lot of ways my personality is kind of stacked against parenting being easy for me, especially early on before they can talk and reason well, that article totally cooroborates that. Interesting!
Today was my birthday. Enjoyed my son sleeping in till 930, my husband pretended I was having contractions to come home and spend the day with me, my son then did another 2 hour nap and then we dropped him off to gramma' s house so we could have a nice dinner. It was truly a great day with everyone. I still need to pack a hospital bag due in two weeks...
@hp_momma yep, keep your receipt (or pay with a card) and you should be able to easily exchange unopened boxes within 90 days. Or with a REDcard you'd have 120 days. Because it's a GC promo deal I would probably keep my receipt just to make sure they know to do a straight across exchange instead of giving you the lowered value.
@WombThereItIs, twinsers!! Give me logic over feelings any day...which is likely why parenting young children seems excruciating at times. Unfortunately, my husband is similar, so the odds are really stacked against us.
So it turns out I did get some stuff knocked off my to-do list! Our little nursery nook is almost done in our room so I will post pics soon... if TB ever fixes they problems!

And my husband is an INTJ so yeah... we basically take turns throwing our hands up and saying "your turn"!
@vrj0522 Congrats!! So excited for you! Can't wait to read the full story. @kns1988 your family is amazing. So happy to hear Jay is doing better. FX you get discharged soon!
+1 for allergies!! I was just diagnosed with serious seasonal allergies in 2013, at that time I was in grad school and couldn't do the time commitment for shots, then we decided to have a baby and that took a year+... so here is't 2017 and I still can't breathe. I just had my annual "I can't breathe and I want to chop down all the trees" visit and my doctor told me it's safe to do the shots while breast feeding!!! Never thought I'd be so excited for shots, I just can't handle this constant congestions anymore.
Congrats to my fellow Monday ticker change on your baby @vrj0522!! It's so exciting to see all theses babies, I'm starting to get antsy to meet our little girl.

I just got around to checking out this site. Pretty interesting. I told my H about it, too, and how his personality type was the #1 among males for willingness to stay at home with the kids. He was like "yeah, that'd be great!". I had no clue he'd enjoy being a stay at home dad.
@starphish18. https://www.diaperplanner.com/ This diaper calculator may be helpful. All babies are different. DS was in newborns longer than we expected. The weight range also overlaps between sizes. I think you'll be safe with the box deal.
I'm feeling wistful... this little guy will be our "two and through" so it's my last pregnancy. Tomorrow's the big day so it's bittersweet and I'm trying to cheer myself up. Been reading a lot of sweet baby stories today.
Tell me all the things you and I'll miss about being pregnant!
I'll start: all the extra calories, and giving into those food desires & cravings!
I pulled the trigger and finally used my Amazon completion discount. My glider will be here 4 days prior to EDD. Not ideal, but at least I'm getting one this time. Gonna wait and use Target's in a few months to get everything and anything else we'll need!
What else on the agenda? Putting the crib together and putting away washed newborn to 3 month clothing! Wooooooooo! Oh and finish creating our "important docs" file so MH can function just in case I'm unable to (for whatever reason).
@skzw that must be bittersweet indeed! I'll miss baby kicks from inside (most of the time!), having a baby that doesn't need to be fed or changed, and all the nice things people have done for me - lifting heavy things, getting me water, etc.
@skzw, this is most likely my last pregnancy too. I think I'll miss the baby kicks the most and the general feeling of how amazing our bodies are to grow and nurture a tiny human.
