@Kipperoo For the life of me, I cannot remember what I did with the diaper bag while baby wearing. A lot of the times I wore the kid, I also had the stroller with me. She was such a velcro baby that a trip to the mall or zoo often included a combo of stroller time and wearing. The only time I remember just babywearing w/o the stroller was on a plane and at a baseball game. I probably made DH carry the bag then.

Lice update: so it turns out the notice wasn't for DD's classroom. But it was for the classroom that I drop her off at in the morning. Her teacher doesn't come in and open her room until 9am so she spends about an hour in the other room before moving over. And that infected room moves over to her room at the end of the day when that teacher leaves early. I'm hoping that buys us a bit more protection. She's getting some 80s hairsprayed hair tomorrow though.

However, I have PCOS and absolutely know the tribulations of trying to get balanced. I'm 33 now, and at 25 I started having nocturnal panic attacks out of seriously nowhere. I had never experienced a panic attack and had always been very laid back & happy. Then they started happening during the day, evolving into me just being in a state of anxiety at all times, with 3 month valleys of depression followed by a "good month". This went on for three years and I saw different doctors and tried different treatments until I found my magic bullet. Turns out I have high testosterone, high cortisol (stress response hormone), and insulin resistance. I started taking a diabetic medication for insulin resistance and I mean a week later the symptoms disappeared. Who would have guessed?!
The whole point of my long-winded explanation is that hormones are a lying jerk and it's NOT YOU. Just ride the wave and look for the solution in the meantime. Fully accepting that chemicals are to blame and not ME really helped with added anxiety. It also helped me breathe and get through it. I agree with others a therapist is also really helpful and for me in particular yoga was a life raft!
@Louise_Belcher Yikes! That sounds like it could have been a bad fall. I'm glad baby is moving around, but like everyone else has said I would call.
@michelle59-2 I too got very anxious anytime DD was out of my site. Once we got home I literally cried and she was right next to me. MH asked what was wrong and I said that I missed her, but she was right next to me! She had to be monitored in another room when we were in the hospital and I made MH stand outside the window to watch her and call me every 10 minutes.
This may belong in the UO thread, but my GF and I were just talking about this the other day. I think everyone to some extent gets the baby blues. It may be very mild, where you may not notice it at all, or it could be much more severe. I'm glad that you are speaking to someone, but don't get discouraged, as you are a VERY new mom and it is normal to panic a little when the babe that you've had with you for so long is not in the same room as you. Just do what's best for both of you and know that you will both be ok.
@starphish18 we were just talking about Byram and pumps; I got an email saying a shipping label was created so I looked at the tracking number and it was picked up. It's very close to me in IL so I'm assuming I will get it in the next couple days. It took 4 days to submit, contact doc, process and ship. Hopefully you get your confirmation email soon if not already.

@achays11 and @michelle59-2 you two have me remembering that during my first week at home, I would start to feel anxious and want to cry, for no reason, as the sun was setting. It was such an overwhelming feeling that I remember telling MH and he would remind me that it's most likely hormones but to continue to let him know how I was feeling. Apparently, his mom suffered from PPD and told him to keep a lookout for me. So who knows... maybe I had a mild form of it??? All I know is, whatever it is you're feeling, talk it out with someone...
@jayandaplus solidarity sister. I've been up since 4:15. Gave up and got my phone out at 4:50. I may try to make another run for some sleep here in a bit. WHY didn't I bring a snack up to bed? I'm hungry!
also on the topic of baby blues and PPD. "Baby blues" are considered a normal post partum reaction to life changes, sleep pattern changes, and (obviously the biggest part) hormone changes. It's when these feelings are persistent and/or severe that a diagnosis of post partum depression or anxiety comes in. No one here is abnormal for having those types of feelings for even 4-6 weeks. Our bodies are doing some crazy things to make this baby and our nerves are on high alert to keep them alive once they get here. Use your support systems and know that it's not abnormal.
@Louise_Belcher I may be wrong but I feel like the reason you need to call after a fall is something about the placenta? Baby could still be moving perfectly normally but something could still not be right? Not trying to freak you out, but I don't really see a reason not to call in the morning!
On the subject of PPD etc, my OB's exact words were-"it's totally normal to be crying some over the next few weeks. But if you are hiding in the closet sobbing, give me a call, ok?"
I think because everyone is told about baby blues, "it's normal to have emotions" (which it totally is!) that it can be easy to dismiss problems for a while. Mental health is so stigmatized in a lot of ways that it becomes easier (for a bit) to pretend/assume that everything is normal.
But it is good to know that if you feel totally out of control or unable to face small normal life things, even one or two days PP, that's likely not normal and warrants a call to your OB.
(And I'm hoping that made sense as I'm a little low on sleep at the moment!)

I'm so sorry you fell down the stairs! That must have been really painful and scary. I'm glad the baby is doing fine. I had to smile at the "I hope the bruise is huge and dark" comment because that's how I always feel when I hurt myself - like, this sucks and I want people to know it sucks.

@mrsrep123 - I remember feeling the same way, too. So anxious at the end of the day, wondering how bad the night would be. 1-4am were the worst, like the bleakest hours of the day. I was always relieved when the sun rose because at least it was acceptable to make coffee.
@michelle59-2 - I was a total wreck in the hospital. Overwhelmed, in pain, and exhausted to a level I had never known. I remember the morning after night two, I just couldn't stop crying. I hope you're feeling a little better. One of the best pieces of advice I got as a new mom is to take all offers of help. If that means letting a friend or family member watch the baby so you can nap or see a doctor/therapist/whatever, do it. You're not alone!
Hey ladies! Called this morning about my fall and they sent me for monitoring. Chillin with the straps on now. Shockingly I don't have any pain in my butt this morning because when it happened and last night it hurt like the dickins!
I hated the first 6 weeks or so because of the hormones and anxiety. As soon as the sun started going down I could feel the anxiety creeping in and it a small like that until the sun rose. During the day my anxiety wasn't that bad but that's when the "baby blues"/depression started, like I wouldn't ever figure out this mom thing. Lots of tears. It took me 6 weeks before I figured out I was going to be heading into some post parting depression that I didn't want to. I started forcing myself out of the house every day (daily trips to the grocery store or target or something) just to be around other adults. Ya, it was hard in the beginning but so worth pushing through the trouble of traveling with a newborn. Then it became easy. This time I know those feelings and how to combat it. It was winter time last time and spring this time so hopefully lots more walks and sunshine will help also.
All of that to say, I'm sorry you are feeling like that! And I'm glad you are asking for help, but don't beat yourself up! WIth all the changes happening in our bodies and with a baby it's no wonder we feel weird. But it's "normal", to a degree, to feel some of those feelings. Hang in there momma!

Found out today that a management position just opened up here at work and they want me to apply for it! I really want too and I will it is just super crunch time (my due date is 5/8). At least they know I am interested so if something happens and I am not at work Monday they know I want to throw my hat in the ring. It would be big jump for me (currently not in management) but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
Another random...you know you are a FTM when you get excited over what you think is your first contraction. I totally thought this morning I had my first "real" contraction. In hindsight I think I was wrong, but I still laugh at myself that I got excited.
Interesting tidbit- the local state college, which has approximately 17,000 students, has 8 confirmed cases of mumps and they just passed a rule that if the students do not prove they've been vaccinated, they aren't allowed back on Campus until may 21st at the earliest. This is yet another reason I will 100 percent be vaccinating my children.

This happened at an Elementary School in the district I taught at a few years ago. Unless parents could prove vaccination records for MMR, the students weren't allowed back for 30 days! Parents were pissed that they had to figure out what to do with their kids for 30 days and that they were missing so much school. Guess you should have got your kids vaccinated!!!

My lil love bug has had a timmy virus horrible diarrhea and rash from it but glad to say he's getting better! I've had SO MUCH pressure down below it's almost unbearable D;
Had a doc appointment today I'm really kind of pissed about, I had a sub to see me today because emy current ob wasn't in. Anyway my regular ob said I was 1/2 cm dilated 40% effaced and -3 (whatever that means) & I was measuring fine. Seen sub ob today and he said I was completely closed and that I'm measuring 40+weeks when I'm only 37+5? He scheduled me for an ultrasound. Now I'm stressed I don't want to have a csection if possible I want natural

I am sorry your son has been sick and glad he's feeling better. I hope your ultrasound goes well. If you do end up with a csection though, it'll be ok. There's a whole thread dedicated to it if you have questions.

We we had our last Lamaze class last night and some of the ladies were asking questions. This one asked about vaccines for the baby that they get in the hospital and if they can deny them...I was like oh man here we go! But she just wanted to see if they could wait to do the shot st their peds office instead of using the hospitals ped.

I don't pop in to get support? I'm not really 'expecting' to get replies. For the most part I enjoy reading and skimming thru ever say stuff that I see other mothers go thru and see that it's common, I did try when I was a bit active to reply to all the stuff that I read thru most the time when I read thru things it's really late or early and I read it either forget to reply or just go back to bed. I just figured id give an update about my randoms cause I got overly excited to. Probably shouldnt have, I understand that. And apologies for my (idk how to put this this but) dumbness but I honestly thought "birth announcements" were saying your pregnant and or expecting. Not that you have already had the baby. I had been trying to figure out if anybody at all had their babies and the only thing I had found was the nicu forum check in. Had I known the birth announcements thing I'd been there first. Thanks for your input appreciate it. Will try to reply to everything more often and show my support

SIAB: This is so crazy to me. I don't understand how people can see things like this and still not vaccinate. Makes no sense.
@MoshiMoshi7, unfortunately the majority of the cases is one cultural group that believes that this particular vaccination may cause autism. It's sad because they just aren't aware or informed. It's hard when they think they're protecting their kids from one thing while essentially they're actually parting of causing them to get another.

So good to hear @chailife34 - be sure to be gentle with yourself during this transition. It got rocky for us a week after going home which I wasn't expecting (6 weeks postpartum at that point). Hope it's smooth for you guys! Can't wait to hear more.
