@Kipperoo I found out yesterday the entire series of The OC is on Hulu and it pretty much has made my week. I can not wait for my OC leave. I mean, maternity leave and newborn...
@Jens_Hoes I LOVE a good organ donation debate!!! I'm one more stupid comment from breaking into that conversation with some FACTS. luckily they seem to have some informed people on their page that are handling things.
@Kipperoo Ooooh that is good to know, thanks! I desperately wish ALL of Roseanne were available instead of just a few episodes... I would watch it from start to finish if I could!

Yeah what is up with this convo (in July) I am always amazed that people genuinely think what happens to you in an emergency situation has anything to do with organ donation. Like someone checks to see if you're a donor to see if they should save you or let you go? Wtaf. What kind of people do they think are working the ambulances/ERs/code teams? People go into health care to save lives and help people. Life saving effort comes first and organ donation comes last...after all efforts on the person in question are exhausted. Distrust of the medical profession in general baffles me, but I'm biased of course.
Also I may have misread but someone was implying that resuscitation would be limited in someone who could donate organs? No. Even people who are brain dead who are going on to give the gift of life continue to receive life saving medications and interventions to keep their organs going until the aorta is cross clamped in the OR to remove the heart. If someone is getting a heart or kidneys or liver it's not dead ones that have been sitting around for hours after someone died...it's organs whose perfusion and oxygenation has been painstakingly maintained while others are harvested.
If if I misread the posts from July just ignore my above rants.
@rkstro2 yes you read that right! Or I read it wrong. I want to be like.... your heart can be shocked an infinite number of times! It will either start beating again or not. And it has NO bearing on donation status! Interesting fact, in Indiana at least they treat donor designation on your license as an advanced directive and can harvest even if the family doesn't agree. Obviously that situation is not ideal so usually we try to get the families on board without using that as a negotiation tool. Really everyone should feel good about organ donation - it's one bright spot in what is usually a tragic situation.
@nda_roxybabe@Kipperoo I watched all of the OC last summer. I LOVED that show in HS. But I never did finish it so it was nice to see the end. Plus I still have a huge crush on Ryan (FFTC?). It seems acceptable since he was like 27 when he played in that role.
Random question but a while back someone was talking about postpartum anxiety/panic. Is there anyone someone could direct me to them? I just got diagnosed with it and am looking for some insight. FTM so a little nervous.
@ShadeofGreen816 I've seen season 1 & 2 at least 5 times, season 3 once and then...nothing. So excited to finally finish the whole thing. I STILL have a huge crush on Seth
@nda_roxybabe I think it may be high time for me to actually finish the OC (haven't watched season 4). I still have a massive crush on Seth Cohen and maybe a bit on Sandy Cohen.

It's ok, I've been calling it my OC leave too. One more month till OC!

I could get on board with Sandy too. I also do love Ryan annnnd I was a little bit obsessed with Marissa's style. I may have been known for wearing mini skirts at her influence.
@nda_roxybabe Oooo I totally wanted to be Summer. But even more then her I probably wanted to be like Anna (Saimire Armstrong). And may have had a little crush on Alex (Olivia Wilde). I am officially way excited to rewatch and finish this show!!
@Louise_Belcher I'm still rocking my Olivia Wilde crush and I liked her as Alex too. Rachel Bilson is another favorite and I'm looking forward to finishing up Hart of Dixie. She's just so cute! Plus, if baby is a girl and we call her "Lemon" that will be fun.
I just got a lice notification for my daughter's classroom. I've got all kinds of creepy crawlys about this. I cannot handle this stress in my life right now, preschool! Also, I suspect it originated with the kid who wears pajamas to school everyday. Get your life together, kid!
@michelle59-2 I don't have personal experience with it, but I'd ask your OB or whomever diagnosed you for a referral to a therapist/psychologist & prescriber for your care from here on out.
I think @schnitz9 talked about having some anxiety after birth? But I know that with Will just sent home from the NICU she might be a little busy and not as active right now. Maybe check in on the mental health check in about it?
@NotAPlaya-JustCrushAlot Oh man!!! I am itchy for you! Lice is no joke. I had it like 3 times my kindergarten year because of my assigned location to hang my coat next to someone who never got rid of it. I think my (over-the-top clean) mom still gets twitchy when it is brought up. Hope your daughter doesn't catch it!
Speaking of my mom, is anyone around you also nesting? I think she has went in to full on nervous cleaning mode! She is emptying closets and getting rid of most of the stuff in her garage. I got into my car this morning to find out she had vacuumed it out while I was at work yesterday.
Lots of love for The OC over here too. All the heart eye emojis for Seth Cohen! I will now be adding this to my maternity leave watch list. I think Veronica Mars is on Amazon Prime. That's another one of my favorites.
@NotAPlaya-JustCrushAlot eek! Hairspray her hair every morning. Supposedly if you "dirty" up the hair a bit the lice wont be attracted. I always escaped, but not sure if that was why. I totally just started scratching my head thinking about it...
@Louise_Belcher I think my Mom is too. They completely gutted their kitchen/ tore down walls and are remodeling it quickly before she starts watching the baby in 8ish weeks. I think it's making her antsy because she's now anxious to get her pack n play and everything else.
Speaking of, I wonder what all I need for her. She will have a safe sleep space, she has a rocker (though not a necessity), she will have a car seat or base, she already has some swaddles, I'll provide her (hopefully) with breastmilk every day, I'm going to build her a diaper kit once I assure diaper brand and size...
@michelle59-2, I'm not sure where a thread was, but I agree with @Jens_Hoes. Definitely get a referral from your doctor. I'm sorry you're dealing with it, but I know a lot of women do and there are some great resources available. Hugs!

Definitely just coughed into my water.
@Louise_Belcher My MIL definitely went into nesting mode. They completely renovated their bedroom, repainted their kitchen/living room area, are redoing their family room area, etc.
@nda_roxybabe Sounds like your mom is ready to go! My MIL was offered a carseat from their neighbor, but I need to talk with her about it. I'd only be comfortable with her using that if the neighbor could assure us it hadn't been in an accident or dropped (they are very close friends with my in-laws, so I would trust their word on that) and if I can personally inspect it beforehand.
@nda_roxybabe Is your mom watching LO at her house when you return to work or yours? Just wondered if you needed items for shorter visits or for full days.
Just left my weekly OB Appt. She asked if I was curious about my dilation. I said Nah, maybe next week if I make it (I'll be 39 + 2 at that appt).
Re: organ donation - I spent MANY years on the trauma ICU. I've had a handful of such cases. In the field, ALL lives matter regardless of a sticker on your license. Not like it's true, but I like to think the sticker would get you more life-saving measures because of the MANY lives you CN potentially save.
@michelle59-2: I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis and that you're feeling down/blue/low/anxious. Depression is treatable, though, and there's lots of people available to help you! Like @Jens_Hoes said, maybe ask for a referral to have a chat with a qualified person sooner rather than later, or to at least start the process of setting up appts, finding someone.
Not sure exactly what your situation is right now but in terms of post-partum emotions, just know that the ENTIRE spectrum of possible feelings is fair game for new mamas! You have every right to feel however you feel, without any additional shame or guilt or sadness piled on top. Any emotion is NORMAL to have! You are not alone! Don't let anyone tell you diffetently.
For awhile after my son, I had this one (very lovely, very well-intentioned) person in my life who frequently droled on about how beautiful my life is with a baby in it and how uplifting I must feel every day... when meanwhile I had CONSTANT doubts about how to handle Anything around me. It was a scary time. Internalizing everything was not the best thing to do, so if anything I'd suggest to find a therapist/counselor soon, so you can begin your healing process. Good luck!
@notaplaya-justcrushalot my coworker is always paranoid about her kids getting lice. She puts her daughters hair in a pony and uses a ton of hairspray everyday ... I guess this helps prevent the lice?
@nda_roxybabe I would have pack n play, bouncer/rnp/swing, high chair, bottles, burp clothes, extra clothes, blankets, diapers, wipes, sound machine (if you are using one), pacifiers (if you are using them), and a few toys. After a while you she will also need childproof items. If you visit there much while on maternity leave it will become clear quickly what would be convenient to have stocked there. When DS was new I took him to my moms while I worked (she now comes to our house because hers is a death trap for a toddler) and it was my goal to have her basically not need the diaper bag that I still packed and brought as extra.
@lrwardrop Yeah. I am the luckiest when it comes to mom/MIL doing stuff around my house while they babysit. H and I joked/realized this week that we will actually have to do laundry and clean our own house during leave.
@NotAPlaya-JustCrushAlot - I'm dying at "get your life together, kid". As in actually LOL'd in my office. But lice sucks. I'm sorry to hear you're dealing with that possibility.

Wait, diagnosed only two days post partum? Some anxiety/panic is normal especially for a FTM. And the baby blues during the first week or two, so it seems a bit soon? Can you explain more?
