@chiquita928 that's good to know.. I've ordered via Amazon... il try swapping out. Size 1 I believe is the smallest size in bambo nature, if anyone has bought them and knows of a smaller size please let me know !
@BusyZee there are a lot of sites with information about projections in the number of diapers you'll need of each size. I think if you only have size ones in bamboo nature you should probably try to find newborn sizes in a brand that you're OK with.
I legitimately have thousands of diapers because I'm an neurotic planner and I told myself it was better to get a good deal in advance than have to worry about going out to buy diapers when my vagina is a bloody piece of meat but I also plan to have 2 to 3 kids so I'm not worried about over buying or one of the possibly three kids having an allergy to any particular brand. We'll use em or we'll pass em on. The convenience of having them in the house is worth it to me.
So I'm super curious for any STM+ did you have a feeling you were going to go into labor? my friend (who is on her 5th pregnancy) said last night she has the same feeling she was going to go into labor that she has will all of her kids and sure enough her water broke around 4am. Crazy coincidence?
nktrodden826 I didn't have any premonition, and I started contractions the day before I was due.
However, a friend of mine once had a crazy unbased theory that moms subconsciously feel ready at some point and then it happens. When I went into labor it was hours after my parents came from out of the country to help out. So sometimes I like to imagine that I had a sense it was finally a good time to have the baby. It's BS, I know, but I don't care.
At @nktrodden826 Did she describe the feeling?? Inquiring minds want to know I doubt it would translate well from one person to another even if it's biological (as opposed to "having a sense") but I still want to know.
I can't believe I haven't thought of this until now - hence the big dumb question. We have plenty of crib sheets and waterproof mattress pads for our actual crib, but we'll be using the pack n' play bassinet for the first few months upstairs in our bedroom. What kind of waterproof options exist for that? I know they are not the same size as the crib sheets.

She said she woke up feeling "off", anxiety like pressure in her chest, somewhat shaky like anxious or excited, sudden burst of nesting which she hasn't had the entire pregnancy, pooped 4 times yesterday, huge decrease in baby movement at his normal time, but mostly just the feeling that yesterday was going to be the day.
Now i feel like if I have a single one of these symptoms I'm going to think today's the day!
@nktrodden826 I did have a feeling. The day I went into labor I was only 38+2 and my DS1 came at 41 weeks so I had no reason to think I would deliver that early. Plus I had an induction scheduled for 39+1. But that day I had a but of little errands to run and I remember thinking I had to just force myself to get them done just in case I didn't have another chance.
Then later that day I asked H to pick up DS from DC because I just "felt off" and needed to lay down for a while.
When I was putting DS to bed that night it crossed my mind that I should savor the chance to just lay with him and rub his back while he falls asleep because this could be the last time for a while, even though I should have still had a week before I was induced.
And then before H and I went to bed for some reason I insisted that he help me clean up the nursery and put batteries in things and just make sure everything was situated before we went to bed. It's a good thing I did!
@nktrodden826@plumpous My birthing class instructor (also a very experienced doula) also endorsed the "mom needs to feel ready" idea, as well as the "gut feeling" symptom. She said that the moms with the easiest births tended to have reached some sort of zen "this birth will follow the course its supposed to/let go and let God" mindset and felt that their prep was complete. I'm a ftm, but it sounds good to me?
@AdaByron I love the way that you used that feeling to make the most of the day and your time with DS! Those are such valuable things that you wouldn't have regretted that even if it was a false alarm.

I can see that being a somewhat valid theory. Bodies and stress levels and hormones are crazy things. I kept hoping baby wouldn't come yet because we weren't ready, then the last thing we had scheduled was a car seat inspection on Sunday. Went into labour Monday night and gave birth to baby Asher Tuesday afternoon!
I'm a FTM so no personal experience with a 'feeling' that labor was coming but today was my last major work commitment that I HAD to get done before maternity leave. Now that it is behind me I'm mentally prepared for the baby to come anytime. Also, DH made dinner reservations for Saturday. The last three times he made reservations at this restaurant something ridiculous came up and he was unable to honor the reservation. We were joking that the baby is probably coming tomorrow since that seems to be the trend with his reservations at this spot. Lol
I had absolutely no feeling of anything different before labor with DD. Felt totally normal. Even when I was in early labor I had no change. Just took Benadryl and went to bed. I think I was trying to deny I was going into labor because I didn't want to get too excited.

Sorry for the poor man's siggy...ticker won't load regardless of how many tips I read.
I don't know where this question would go, but I'm looking for a mini/compact freezer, with a larger freezer area and smaller refrigerato. Fridge part is optional but would prefer the freezing area to be bigger and not the other way around!
I think my glasses will get annoying bc I'll be sweating and I can't stand them on my face when I'm sweating. But will they let me wear contacts in case there's an emergency and I need a c-section or something? I've never had surgery (aside my wisdom teeth, but I was out for that, so I just wore my glasses) so I have no clue!
I'm blind as a bat (my script is 20/400) so I want one or the other or I won't be able to see a thing.
I bought a second hand arms reach co sleeper - how do I clean it?
As long as there's no cardboard that would be ruined, I'd put it in the bathtub with some Oxyclean and/or detergent. Let it soak, give it a rub down, scrub any spots that need scrubbing. The hardest part IMO is rinsing it out so no soap residue. Using the hose isn't a bad idea.
My vision is awful and I wore my contacts all through labor and delivery on Thursday. It was much easier for me since I imagine all of my sweating plus the nurse wiping me down/cooling me off with a wet towel would have made my glasses problematic. Plus, I would have definitely taken them off once it got to the active pushing part, so I would have missed (clearly) seeing so many important moments!
Once I was moved to postpartum recovery, I switched to glasses and went contact-free until I got home.
@satsumasandlemons I have the "original" Arms Reach CoSleeper, which has the foldable 4 section mattress. It definitely is fiberboard inside there, which is why it says "spot clean only". That wasn't good enough for me, so I cut slits in each of the 4 bays to remove the boards so I could submerge the mattress. Be very careful though, the inner foam is in a plastic casing, so make sure if you slice it, its along the fiberboard only, NOT the side seam, or you will damage the plastic and get the foam soaked.
After that, I threw it all in the bathtub to soak with laundry detergent and some biz.
Highly monitored internet and no cell service in the office, so I'm postin' and ghostin' while I'm workin'
Oh dammit @glitterfish-2 I have the original one too and didn't even check before throwing the whole thing in there - I was sure for some reason there wasn't cardboard or whatever. Ugh that may have been an expensive mistake.

That sucks! What moron decided to make baby things as hard to deep clean as possible?? Anything that can't get wet should be banned!
But better you find out now before it starts mildewing with baby inside! I would cut it open and see if it can be salvaged... Maybe bake the boards in the oven at a low temp?

Exactly what @lanie1000 said, I don't think anyone even asked me whether I was wearing contacts or not.
What do you want to know about it? DH uses one frequently for his back and loves it. I used it multiple times daily for a pinched nerve in my shoulder a year ago.
My hospital suggested buying one for labor pain management! I wanted to know if it's worth it, if it helps with contraction pain or not, if it's safe etc etc
@BusyZee I'm a ftm and have never used one before, but it is one of the pain management options at the birth center where I'll be delivering, so people do safely use it for labor! Sorry I don't have any more info than that
Has anyone used vancomycin as their antibiotic instead of penicillin for Group B Strep during labor??
I had to use it for a follow up uterine infection. I ended up with Red Man Syndrome and they had to stop it immediately and give me Benadryl. My GBS this time is thankfully still susceptible to Penicillin because it isn't to the other 2 options and I would be left with just Vancomycin. Do you have to use it or are they just giving it as an option?

I'm allergic to penicillin and sulfa based drugs so the dr just told me yesterday I'm GBS+ (I wasn't with DS) and said this is my only option. They then presented me with 3 forms I had to sign saying I know this drug hasn't been proven safe according to the FDA for pregnant women and isn't safe for BFing because it passes through into human milk but I give them permission to use it because it's my only option.. she also told me it's only safe to have 1 dose intravenously so I have to have the baby within 12 hours of them administering it. Then I come home and research it and more and more red flags are popping up.
Red Man Syndrome is when they administer it too quickly into the blood stream right? Or is that an allergic reaction which is why they gave Benadryl? @JmUDuuuukes 07
@nktrodden826 we give it with no restrictions on amount of dose or breastfeeding. However it's done by weight base, we check your kidney processing levels, and it's ONLY started once your water is broken, not in labor like penicillin. It's kind of one of the last resorts of antibiotics but treating the GBS is important.

Are you ladies getting your dilation checked at your weekly exams? I got one two weeks ago before DH headed out to Sweden for a week but I've declined them since then. I can't remember how normal/common it is to be checking each week leading up to the birth.
