Re: Randoms 4/10

  • @Wearmi1 Thank you for that advice and I'm definitely keeping an eye out. I have a growth ultrasound this week and will ask the MFM if he's able to check that area to try and find answers.

  • CapricaAndrea Re: People parking in handicap spots and your DH getting upset about it/confronting folks.  I have to say that I get HUGELY POed about selfish people abusing those spots. My father is a disabled vet and it really bothers me when someone without a handicap plate juts parks there because "well I need to run in quickly" or "it was available" or "I don't want to have to park far away".  What I do to avoid issues with a person is take a picture of the vehicle (with plate # showing) of both the front and back of the car demonstrating an obvious lack of handicap placard.  Some states allow citizens to report the violation.

@krex-2, you're getting close to the finish line! Try to focus on the successful meet-up you had with EM as much as you can. We are all so excited for you!

That sort of ended up being what happened the first time because the guy left before parking enforcement could make it, so he just filed a report over the phone and then since the parking person heard all the aggressive threats, she actually advised him to also file a harassment report with the police which he did (plus parking enforcement has the whole call recorded).

Today was particularly frustrating because it was actually the guy who runs a hot dog cart outside of a major store that was parked in the expectant mothers spot, which meant he would have been there all day. Apparently there's no bylaw about those spots though, so parking couldn't do anything about it, though the guy saw us on the phone and moved his car anyway.

  • @krex-2 I would have the same worries about the BM backing out, if I were in your situation. I'm sorry she's not helping you feel secure about the situation.

  • @sevenn no, but I read the book and it was really good!
  • @sevenn I finished it in 3 days. Full disclosure DH is gone so I had nothing else to do once the kiddos went to bed.

  • @sevven and @awoodruff27 I also watched it in 3 days! I watched 7-13 yesterday while nannying the twins! They are still in the sleep a lot stage plus they are only 3 months old so they have no idea what I'm watching! Versus when I am with the 2.5 year old we have to watch Mickey. Ugh.
It was good though! I want to read the book now!

Thanks ladies, you are all wonderful!  i feel much better about it now that the day has moved on, and I spoke some to the agency.  Seems she is still appearing confident in the adoption plan, so I'm doing my best to just push the worry out of my mind.
I'm glad you're feeling better! I would be a basket case until the papers are signed and probably even afterwards. I hope it all works out.
  • @tjvan that almost made me tear up. How sweet
    @meilay hope you feel better
As far as weight goes, I haven't gained any yet. I'm still 2 lbs under my pp weight. I wasn't worried because I definitely go to town on the food and my dr hasn't been worried since I stopped dropping after 11lbs. But, I have this nausea and sour stomach/taste in mouth that has been developing since last week. It's not as easy to get food in now and I'm really hoping this goes away. Might work from home tomorrow to get rest. I'm sure all this work stress and always being on the go is not helping.
  • @krex-2 Glad the agency could give you some encouragement. Maybe the EM is feeling like she needs to pull away from you, even if she knows/is still confident in her decision? Just like you have tons of feelings about the whole process, maybe she is too.
No matter what her reason for not communicating much, I'm sending you big hugs!

@krex-2 Glad you are feeling better about the situation! Not too much longer now! :)
@sevenn Yes! DH and I watched it in about 3 days. I could NOT stop thinking about it. It made me really nervous about having a teenage boy (you know in 13+ years). I definitely think that its a really important story/show for people to watch and understand.

@Kylieslip24 My gaining pattern was a little weird but I actually think it was probably pretty normal. I started out in the normal BMI range. I think I gained about 5 pounds by week 18. Between week 18 and 22 I had a very visible growth spurt and gained 8 pounds. Since then its been about a pound a week. I'm up 24 total. I'm pretty happy with that. I'm hoping to stay below 40 gained, but I'm not too worried about it.
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • Is anyone looking in to/or used 3rd trimester supplements to help with labor? Red raspberry leaf, coconut oil, evening primrose? I have a check up tomorrow so I'll ask my OB, but anything specific you ladies have used or plan to use would help with my question to her.
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • @danij0 last time I used evening primrose oil (orally) and red raspberry leaf tea. I will def do it again and have just ordered the tea. Tip with the tea is to order loose and brew yourself bc the bags arent really strong enough. I would make a big batch and drink it iced but warm is good too. My midwife told me to wait to 36 weeks. Whether it made a difference who knows but DS was 1 week early and I had a 6 hr very easy labor.
  • @mombod would you mind telling me which RRL you ordered? I still have a few weeks but want to have it all ready to go.
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • @danij0 I'm using red raspberry leaf tea. Right now I'm using Yogi brand and have big pitcher that I make every week. I have a big bag of loose leaves from Frontier Co-op (Amazon) that I plan to start using in the coming weeks. I drink it cold,
on ice with a little honey first thing in the morning. Even with the bagged tea I can feel light contractions when I drink it.

I'm going to start taking an evening primrose supplement around 36 weeks.
  • @danij0 this time I ordered Feel Good Organics on Amazon.

I used an evening primrose suppository. While I still had a long labor (DD1 was sunny side up), I didn't have any tearing, so I think it was helpful and plan to use it again.

I'm pretty sure my midwives recommend and/or want you to drink red raspberry leaf tea. Even if they don't, I plan to take it anyway.
  • My midwives told me to start at the beginning of 3rd tri. I hate tea so I'm taking the pills. I did last time too. My labor didn't hurt until after transition.
  • I drank RRL tea last time around and had my son 11 days early and was only in labor for 10 hours. Related, maybe. Maybe not. Ill be drinking it again though in case.

@itsfine I do!  Especially now that we are getting closer I love seeing the babies and reading the birth stories.
  • @itsfine I do! I like to read all the different birth stories, too. I keep wondering if I should love tit them or just full on lurk.
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • I took evening primrose last pregnancy and plan to take it again at 36 weeks.  I'll also add in Red raspberry leaf tea pills this time.  I'd like to try dates too but not sure I can eat them. I've heard they aren't the tastiest.  I'm super excited to be at 36 weeks and start all this prep! Getting so close!
  • @JessyKV, I have to dip them in peanut butter to tolerate them. Or I've been eating Larabars daily too, they're made with dates, so I assume it's the same concept.

One of the BMBs...I think it may have been March, did their own little poll about who ate dates, who didn't,  how long their labor was, did they need to be induced etc. It was interesting, but after reading it I decided I will not be choking down dates for 4 weeks. I am mobile so I don't know how to find and link to it, but I'm almost certain it was March.
