@Wino0920 I have had a few other friends tell me stories similar and it does help ease my mind a bit. Thanks for sharing that. She has been called back to one a few years ago and it was nothing, so we are hoping it is the same results after this one.

@FSUNole31 my 5 year old has the hardest time falling asleep. I sprung for a weighted blanket, and it has made such a difference. He has one at home and one at daycare for rest time. It's just that little bit of external feedback he needed to help calm his body down. They aren't cheap, but sometimes you can find them decently priced on Etsy (like 50-60, they usually run 100+ through therapy related sites). The weight is calculated based on their size, so 10% of body weight +1lb. My son is in the low 40 lbs range, so his blankets are 5lbs.
Getting hit with another round of severe weather this afternoon/tonight. This time they even early released all the kids from school. Hopefully no tornadoes and we don't lose power.
Mom to Madison- 5 and Lillian 2....and now surprise baby #3!
Does anyone use the app/website NextDoor for their local neighborhoods? My husband and I are always making fun of the stupid posts, and yesterday someone literally made the post "URGENT: just saw possum walking down the street."
YES! Someone posted an actual picture of bear sh!t last week! They wanted to warn everyone. We didn't need the photo!
@FSUNole31 much like @Wino0920 my mom has had several call-backs and eventually had genetic testing done (which thankfully came back negative). The call-back thing never gets easier, but try to take some deep breaths and think positivitly. There is a high chance it's nothing.
@ellie111227 - I've just started dabbling in a cleaning service, sort of sporadically. We'll probably make it regular once the babe arrives. The service we use is great and they charge based on the number of rooms. $179 for our 3br2ba about 1300 sqft (they don't count the sqft). I think it goes up about 10-20/room. It's usually a team of three cleaners and about 2-2.5 hours. They did charge more for the first time to do a deep, start up clean. I have a sense it's probably less than average, but it is also the San Francisco bay area, which is nortoriously more expensive.
@tjvan - I am a FTM and doing a BF class which I'll be bringing DH to. I figured he's going to be my support system, so it'd be helpful for him to know what's going on too.
@CapricaAndrea - we also have a doula and are doing a BF class. I presume it will be a little overlapping, but as a FTM I'm game for all the extra info. I'm also happy that our class is about a month before our EDD - the hope being that maybe I can internalize some info being I'm smack in the middle of the first time experience.
Thanks for the feedback on cleaning service experiences, everybody! I got a couple new quotes through thumbtack.com, and they were all significantly lower, like in the $150 to $250 range. I'm going to read some more reviews and choose one of them!

Yup and we live in a tiny country/hippy town so we get some WIERD posts. Loose pigs, about 4 dogs lost everyday, and the strangest free items. Then the constant political fights and the is it ok to shoot coyotes arguments. Its nice to have for break ins and power outages though.

Do we live in the same neighborhood? There was a huge debate on shooting the coyotes about two weeks ago.
Since we are talking nextdoor, crazy people, and coyotes....this was posted on our nextdoor yesterday as a solution for the small dogs going missing..... I LOVE dogs so much, but I almost died when I clicked on this link...

Just came home from my growth ultrasound and OB appointment. Lots of positive things this time around - little lady is measuring 2 lbs 11oz putting her at the 48% (which apparently is right on track) - take that placenta lake!
I passed my 1 hour glucose test, they actually said I have low numbers, and I should always carry a snack with me and make sure I am eating regularly. This is why I always am telling DH i'm hangry (pre-pregnancy too) - haha.
Rhogam shot in my butt and TDAP in my arm should leave me pretty sore tomorrow - but i'll take it!
Ok... back to your regular scheduled weekly randoms.
@graceriesz Great updates! I thankfully got the Rhogam in my arm last week - hurt like heck going in, but didn't give me too much trouble afterwards - hope you'll be similarly fortunate. Tdap next week...which never fails to give me a fever (happened to me as a kid, and then when I got it with DD).
I'm not sure if we're far enough along to be nesting or what my deal is, but I've been in serious clean up/organize mode the last couple of days. We got the nursery mostly put together and organized our room to make room for the pnp (where baby will sleep in the beginning). I also went through DS's NB and 0-3 totes and got some neutral sleepers and gowns out, then I got a set of neutral sleepers and onesies from Target, so baby has a few things to wear in the hospital and in those first few days at home before we can shop (if we need to). These clothes are so tinyyyyy!!
So DH got the tdap when my son was born 2 years ago. He doesnt need another one right? I know its recommended for the mom each pregnancy bc the baby gets some passed on but wasnt sure if he needed a booster too.
Ugh, I got my TDAP yesterday and my arm is super sore. I got it on the side I mostly sleep on, which was not smart, so last night was no fun.
Also, the phlebotomist mangled my veins when they were drawing to recheck my iron levels. So the inside of my elbows are all bruised up. I'm just a mess!
On the upside, we had our first birth class last night and it was fun! Getting real excited for Baby J!
@huskermom14 I can't stop freaking out about how small newborn clothes are! My mom has thrifted a boatload of clothes and I washed and folded them all over the weekend. I just kept looking at the pile and smiling
Oh the rhogam! I just had mine last week. Funny thing is, my mom loved telling me she got THE most painful shot in the butt for me and my bro, so when it came time for mine for dd I was freaked. Very scared of needles before ever being pregnant. So I go in, lay down, with my pants down, waiting for like 10 min for this horrible pain and it never came. I finally asked the nurse if she was going to do it and she just laughed and said, oh I did it a while ago! I never felt it!! I was just laying there with my butt on the table. So of course I call to tell my mom what a big baby she is and how I didn't even feel it. Fastforward to last week... I tell this story to my midwife and she was like, im not sure how you could have not felt it?? Maybe she messed up and didn't give it to you. Then I was really scared as I looked at the fat needle in her hand. Sure enough, that sucker hurt. So now I'm convinced I somehow didn't get the shot with dd who luckily was -. But yeah, I could definitely still see the puncture would the next day and even found blood on the side of my underwear.
@mombod I think the TDap is good for either 5 or 10 years so I think he should be good. It couldn't hurt to ask at your next appointment though if you're worried.
@mombod My OB said the booster was needed for anyone who hadn't had it in 5 years. The shot is typically good for 10 but she recommends 5 years for people who will be around newborns just to be safe.
I commute into NYC daily for work. A train was derailed on Monday and it is now Wednesday and all trains are still diverted with major delays. I am not super surprised when people pretend to not see the pregnant person so that they can hold onto their seat on the train and subway - though it still bothers me.
But TODAY, I got in the train immediately after another pregnant woman (who got the last available seat). The man beside her (who I am standing directly in front of) starts talking to her about the commute and she tells him how much worse it is being pregnant. He agrees. He looks at me and keeps his mouth shut, doesn't offer a seat. I am almost 32 weeks and huge (fitted dress so no guesswork) and in a packed train. Come on. New Yorkers never cease to amaze me.
I got my tdap in the arm on the side I sleep on, too. It isn't the worst thing ever or anything, but I definitely recommend thinking that through even choosing which arm to give them. I was glad to get it done though. I know it takes a few weeks for the immunity to build up and pass to the baby, so I would always rather get it toward the beginning of the recommended window just in case the baby comes early.
I didn't think rhogam shot was too bad but I'm still sore from my tdap shot three days ago.
@onaed it's not just New Yorkers, I live in the middle of the country and take public transportation pretty often thru two pregnancies now and people never offer me a seat. Once in a while another woman might but never men.
Non-pregnancy related random/vent: sometimes I hate being a parent when it comes to interacting with other parents. My kid made a friend at gymnastics and the mom insisted on exchanging numbers. The thing is the mom is super over-the-top aggressive and I don't want to do a play date with her. I'll probably be 'busy', but I can't avoid her at gymnastics.
