@MrsFreeman2010 Thanks for explaining, thats the first time I ever heard of that. And good thing too because my water broke at home with DD and I labored for a few hours before going in. I probably would have panicked otherwise :P
Thanks everyone on their input/experience regarding low blood pressure. I feel much more relaxed about it now!
I'm sitting in a primary care office because my midwife told me to go to urgent care or my PCP. I got the feeling they just didn't want to deal with me. In my currently over emotional state this made me concerned about the care they provide.
Also, all nurses/laborers: do you have plans to slowdown or stop working before baby?
I may need to have a conversation with DH about cutting back because it's wearing me down. I work in the ER 3rd shift and it's kicking my butt lately.
@jayandaplus I plan to work up til my EDD. However, I'm currently part time due to my school clinical requirements. And clinicals end in 3 weeks so I just have to get there an I essentially am slowing down. My OB offered to write me for limited duty yesterday due to my SPD but I don't want to decrease my leave with baby. Luckily we are pretty protective of our pregnant gals. I also work dayshift so that's an added bonus. I can only imagine how exhausted you are!! Is there any flexibility for hours or shift for you??
@jayandaplus I'm planning on working up until baby day. I also work night shift so I understand the struggle. It's not fun. Right now I have 12 more shifts. My schedule is the same every two weeks so my last shift is a Wednesday night and my induction is scheduled the next Wednesday (would normally return to work Thursday) so I'll be able to have a week to get last minute stuff ready and "rest" without having to use any time off.
@jayandaplus I'm a teacher and I plan to work as long as I can. I cannot take maternity leave before the baby is born and I only have 4 sick days left for the year. So I'd be taking unpaid time after those 4. Pretty much if I can get out of bed and drive to work, I'll be there. I have a pretty lenient school when it comes to being pregnant though and I can take extra time off during the day and they'll cover if I need it.

So finally caught up - Dang ladies way to chat it up so far this week I really don't have much to add from what has already been said. I am a FTM and I am loving all these tips...so keep them coming. I am at work right now and it is SUPER busy and only going to get busier and I am freaking out just a little bit. I have a few items I HAVE to get done before Peanut comes and I just realized that could be anytime. For some reason I don't think he/she is going to make an early appearance but now I am in super overdrive speed to get what HAS to get done completed. There is just one problem today...I have NO actual want to work today (hence why I am on here). My brain is checked out.
Okay, going to try and be responsible and get some work done now...wish me luck. Be back later
I'm having one of those days where I don't feel good and managed to make it into work. I'm having lower back pain, its really not that bad, but then it's followed by nausea and a headache in between my eyes (you know like you're going to faint or something). I'm leaving work as soon as someone can pick me up, but I hate feeling bad for leaving or missing so much work.
Anyway, I'd feel better being at home getting rest like my MW said..
Has anyone started to feel a letdown feeling in the boobs? Just starting last week I've been feeling the letdown feeling but haven't had any leaks or anything.
@ShadeofGreen816 and @MrsFreeman2010 Thanks for the responses. I may see if I can cut down to two days a week, there's no flexibility in my shift time. One of my best friends also work in the ER with me and she think it's putting too much stress on me. I'm not handling it all very well.
I just tested positive for flu b and now I'm pissed. I'm crazy about hand hygiene and wear a mask with almost every patient, but still! I feel like I'm on the verge of a meltdown here. On my way to go pick up tamiflu, which I hate because it's high side effect/low efficacy from what I've heard, and I hate taking any medications, period.
I plan on working until I go into labor. Yesterday however I realized I have a serious case of... whatever you'd call that feeling you get the week before vacation or school break where you cant concentrate. I need to figure out how to focus! Luckily, my job is a desk job that is typically low stress.
Anyone have pulsing back pain when they first sit down? I remember getting it with my last but I don't remember if it was something that happened close to labor or just a fluke thing. It lasts maybe 10-15 seconds and it's very very painful rhythmic pain. Like with each heartbeat. This sounds ridiculous as I try to describe it.
@nda_roxybabe my brother calls it the itis. which i know means inflamation but he calls when you eat too much the itis, when your ready to stop working workitis, and so on.
Mmk. Advice on how to focus? I feel like an ADD child, I can't sit still and can't seem to concentrate enough to get anything done. Any tips? Teachers?
Random question... What happens after baby comes? We all just go our separate ways? I going to want to know how everyone is doing. And it bums me out to think that I just bonded with all these women just to never talk to them again.
Last year, I rewrote our company parental leave policy and it's very generous. I'll get 18-20 wks after birth (20 is for csection). We also included flexibility for expectant moms to take a few weeks off before birth and for some reason, I'm not taking advantage of it. I'm the first person on the legal team to take the new leave and I feel like I need to be here until the end. Dumb, I know. But at the same time, I love my job and I'm going to be sad to turn my caseload over to someone else for 5 months. I'm also going to be sad when they stop cc'ing me on email and I'll have to check in to see what's new more than is necessary. This is a complete 180 from my last maternity leave at a law firm. I was literally counting down the days then.
ETA: Clearly my desk job is not physically demanding. But I imagine your shift and workload is very taxing. I say go for it!
@NotAPlaya-JustCrushAlot ' I feel like I need to be here until the end. Dumb, I know. @jayandaplus I'm trying to stick it out to the end too. I work in a physically demanding healthcare job too with lots of fast paced walking kind of long distances and up and down stairs, and yes, I occasionally still run (more like a very fast walk-jog) to an emergency every now and again. I had not considered taking time off pre-baby but just like you it's getting harder and harder for me to keep up with the physically demanding aspects. Luckily all of my partners have really started picking up my slack so hopefully I can make it as close to delivery as possible so I don't have to use my off time with no LO to love on. I am going to try to keep holding on as long as I can to spend as much time with baby as possible.
@nda_roxybabe for me I feel it on the top half of my breasts. Its a tingling feeling almost a rushing downward feeling inside. For me its hard to explain but the feeling is very distinctive
Dang! There was a lillebaby lightning deal on Amazon today that I was watching for, and I completely missed it! Work is officially getting in the way of baby priorities.
Re work leave timing. I have a scheduled C-section for Monday 4/24 so I might take the Thursday and Friday before off just to finish up last minute things. Otherwise I want to save all my time for when baby is here.
@nda_roxybabe letdown is hard to describe and I imagine each person feels it differently. For me it felt kind of like the pins and needles feeling when your foot falls asleep (but in the opposite breast I was nursing with - weird) accompanied with a heaviness. The feeling always passed quickly.
Hugs to @nda_roxybabe and @absbubbs for noticing my disappearance for the last handful of days. Still here. Monday was packed and yesterday I lost to a Dr appointment and then the wrath of 3rd Tri nausea that sent me retching home from work. I finally just caught up and cannot remember a single thing that was talked about to comment on. Found out yesterday that baby is breech and I know somewhere there were a couple ladies talking about that. I need to go do some digging. Trying to figure out how I can help get baby to flip.
@Louise_Belcher Ugh, that sucks. I am sorry. The reco's I remember for breech are Chiropractor to do the Webster and then I've also heard of exercises you do on all 4s to help baby flip. SIL was breech at 36 weeks, luckily the little lady flipped and was born 2 weeks later.
Random question... What happens after baby comes? We all just go our separate ways? I going to want to know how everyone is doing. And it bums me out to think that I just bonded with all these women just to never talk to them again.
People will definitely stick around here after baby comes. It may be slower, but new baby questions will keep it going. Many will also navigate to a Facebook group that will probably start somewhat soon.

I was just coming here to update on baby's position. I had my u/s this morning at 36w3d and baby is now head down and facing my back! So relieved! He's still measuring 2 weeks ahead and about 7 lbs. I know those measurements can be off so I am hoping he's not quite that big already but I am feeling great about my appointment!
@Louise_Belcher - My ob told me that most breech babies turn around between 35-37 weeks so there's still hope and time for your LO. The only thing I did over the last week-ish was get down on all 4s and move my pelvis (aka butt) around and from side to side for a few minutes everyday plus a few instances of downward dog position. Not sure if those made a difference but they were some of the things I had read you can do.

@jayandaplus - I worked FT nights as a med-surg RN for most of my last pregnancy. I was OK until I switched to days the last few weeks and ended up being induced early for high BP. I really, really wish I had pushed for light duty or planned an earlier exit. Maybe if I had taken it down a notch, things would have been better? Who knows.
I'm a SAHM this time around, and I just want to say I have serious respect for all you RNs and other health care moms working so hard at this stage of the game. You rock.
@vrj0522 That is wonderful news that baby flipped! Thank you for the info on them turning between 35-37 weeks. I haven't had a moment to ask dr google about probabilities and when babies flip usually. This was not even on my radar as DS must have already been head down at this point last time, so I was a little thrown when she told me.
@NotAPlaya-JustCrushAlot - how can I get you to come rewrite my company's parental leave policy?!? That's awesome!!
@BeachMommy2B - you really are in the final countdown!! How exciting!!!!
@nda_roxybabe - your OB should be able to tell. DS was breech until 37 weeks, and my doctor could tell when he flipped without any additional ultrasounds. At my visit today, he just kind of felt around my bump and then goes "oh, yeah, there's the head". They can tell better than we can!
