Re: Weekly Randoms 3/27

  • @wyomama0427 agree! I grew up in the PNW so I always associate gray drizzly days with "home" and I love them. But it has to be specific weather-- no stormy/driving rain, just like a light mist. aah.

@Sugargirl1019 so helpful, thank you!!! I placed my first order last night... found some of the covers I thought looked best at the class on sale at a website called Diaper Junction so ordered a few and some accessories. I think we're going to start with a diaper service (partly to avoid having to buy newborn sizes plus regular sizes and partly to placate my DH who is still kind of appalled at the whole idea of cloth diapers-- at least this way we won't be doing the washing ourselves to start), so I don't have much of an excuse to build up a real stash now. but it's tempting.

  • @labby18 I never said I wasn't strange lol!
@mrsmarygs I just love the rain, I love big storms with lightning and stuff. I like to open the blinds at night when there's lots of lightning and sit in the dark and watch :#
  • Just caught my friend on one of the local mom groups on FB trying to get me a gift - a fetal doppler (she doesn't know i do not want one, but I dont want to hurt her feelings). She has 2 kids and hubby got snipped recently. Sooo i texted her like "WHAT ARENT YOU TELLING ME? WHY DO YOU WANT A DOPPLER?!" she was like oh no no no no it's for you. you werent supposed to see that. lol

I love storms, too... as long as they aren't too bad. We get a fair amount of tornadoes in Alabama, and those freak me the F out... so if it starts getting TOO stormy I get nervous. Especially in the spring.

  • sooo DH has been home since Mar 8 after being gone for 9weeks ish....he leaves Thursday for his 1st show of the show year...he'll be back on Sunday. I'm kind of a mess about this. I usually am totally cool, I am so proud of him  and haven't had a problem with his travelling for shows for the past 2 years...but nope. Pregnancy got me all sorts of wound up.

  • Is he going to Valdosta moody Air Force base for any shows? @labby18

I made my favorite chicken dish, that I haven't made since maybe week 6. The mere thought of it has turned my stomach. But I had all the stuff for it on hand on Sunday and it didn't sound awful.

It was not good. But I choked some down for dinner. Then I brought some to work today because, well, it's been made and it needs to be eaten. Now I'm staring at it sitting on my desk for lunch.. and I hate my life. I kind of want to go home. I have been really lucky with mood swings and heavy emotions (not having them). Yesterday and today I am just SO MEH and BLAH and really just want to curl up on the couch.

My boss would definitely let me go home. But if I do, the rest of my week is screwed up (eg, I'll be super busy). Maybe I'll try and bang out today's stuff after lunch and go home a couple hours early.

@kelseyrayray  I don't think he is. Here is the overall show schedule for this year:
    https://www.blueangels.navy.mil/assets/docs/schedules/show-2017.pdf

(if it gives you a big WARNING DON'T GO HERE page click on advanced and continue to the page...most mil pages do that on regular browsers).

His show schedule is still all up in the air as he has to give up the show in Virginia Beach (its my due date) and the California long trip (huntington beach, san diego, san fran). And because he has to go to a month long school (locally thank god) but doesn't know when yet.
  • @labby18 Does your H fly for the Blue Angels or is he like a ground crew/maintenance? I always try to catch their shows when they are here.

  • @labby18 if he ever gets sent to Valdosta let me know. Our base uses the thunderbirds at their air shows but dh has wanted to see the blue angels.

@kelseyrayray they go to Jacksonville every year in October/November. Usually the Blues and the Thunderbirds don't overlap show locations.

eta: the Blues show is WAAAAY better than the Thunderbirds...but I'm not biased at all...lol
  • Lol my dh would agree with you I'm sure. @labby18 Valdosta is like 10-15 mins away from where I live so we go watch whoever they have there. We haven't taken DS yet because of the noise but we were discussing taking him this year. He likes any vehicle that moves cars airplanes trains. So I really think he would enjoy it.
  • @kelseyrayay
ahhh, I wasnt sure how far Jax was for you. Next Tuesday I'm watching their practice from the roof of another building on base, I'm pretty stoked about it. Well I hope yall get to go to a show this year, and that eventually you get to go to a Blue Angel show. And legit, anyone who hasn't been to a Blue Angel show, you should. It's really freaking cool.
  • @labby18 The schedule suggests your H is coming to my area this weekend. We love when the Blue Angels are here.

  • @labby18 Yes, I'm in the Corpus Christi area. I would go to the show, but my mom's coming in this weekend. Not sure she'll want to go. She seems to want to spend every second shopping for baby stuff.

There is literally an ad for the show in the elevator at my work.

Ordered curbside pick up from Outback...omg so worth it. Bloomin' Burger & a sweet potato <3 delish.

    eta: thank youuu. @wyomama0427
  • @mrs_tacos I have been wanting mashed potatoes for a while now but I just haven't made them. I'm so excited for dinner tonight!!
  • @HollyGolightly09  That's a great idea, thank you!!  I'm trying to think of everything I can to make a solid case for this, and I think that's a good point to include.
I think it's really only fair to include that someone 7 months pregnant got approved.... I can't understand why they'd deny you when you weren't pregnant when you enrolled and tried to schedule your first physical. I'll be the whiny six year old over here stomping my feet for you saying "ITS NOT FAAAIIIIRRR!!"
Except I would be pissed if they then denied me something because my coworker pointed something out. I would leave the coworker out of it- you don't always know the whole situation and I wouldn't want to jeapordize someone else's coverage.

Oh man, I really want mashed potatoes and gravy...mmmmm....

Paula Deen recipes are the best. I always use way more butter than I probably should. She has this ooey gooey butter cake that is so sugary and buttery it is so divine.

It must be the week for crazy FAcebook posts...a friend just publicly posted that she is so glad she's off birth control and went on to share that they are not trying but not preventing for baby #2. Like seriously. What makes anyone think that belongs on FB?!
I unfollowed someone on Facebook about a year ago for something very similar. Since that time, she has been a lesbian and is now pregnant... with a different man than the one she was "so excited to start trying" with a year ago.
Do we have the same friend? Lol. I have an ex friend just like this! She unfriended me recently because I didn't rsvp to her baby shower.
  • The one thing worse than naked baby pics w the cutesy "sensor" bits is uncensored naked baby pics. A girl I know just had a daughter and they apparently felt the need to prove it was a girl on FB. I was mortified and just wanted to shake her and be like no no no not safe! Or ok. Or anything else.
  • @HollyGolightly09 disagree.

I agree. I've seen both shows and they are similar, but the Blue Angels just execute everything a little better.

  • @Sugargirl1019 thank you. That was a really hard time for us and the whole Blue Angel family. DH was there when it happened and was one of the 1st ones on the scene of the crash site...it's been rough mentally. But thank you so very much.
