Re: Weekly Randoms: 3/26

  • I'm super envious of your ability to pick up and on @mrsmaryk2016! I've had a few of those experiences myself among some other unpleasantries and still haven't mustered up the courage to leave.

  • My bff and I went to see Beauty and the Beast tonight. It was so good :bawling::bawling: We want to go watch it again. So much nostalgia! My mom told me it was the first movie she ever bought for me back in the day.

Don't be too hard on yourself. Take it a day late. She'll be okay. And if it makes you feel any better I haven't taken a weekly picture of LO yet. What they say about the second child is a little true.

  • @SandNStarsNJ have you considered a different job but doing something similar? Or even something completely new? I've been trying to figure out life's next steps over here, so I understand how tough it is to make those big life decisions.
  • @SandNStarsNJ I kind of decided I was going to quit teaching and decided to put out feelers everywhere. The pharma job just popped up and I took it, right time and right place kind of thing.

I have but am restricted by two major things: our kids and my experience. The jobs I have looked at require almost 3-5 years experience in something I've done but not in an official capacity (teachers wear a lot of hats) and typically require time spent in NYC or DC. And while commuting to NYC wouldn't be a huge issue it would cut into family time a lot.

End of sad rant/feeling sorry for myself.

  • I think I'm going to have to bite the bullet and move S permanently to her room. I was going to wait until closer to May because I'm taking a couple days off to do some sleep training. Right now she's in the pack n play in our room and sleep is hit or miss. Part of me wonders if the pack n play mattress is even comfortable. It really doesn't seem like it. Plus all the noise.

  • I get it @SandNStarsNJ, I hope things improve at work or something new opens up for you!

@Ladybug2821 hope the change helps! It was hard for me at first but now Isaac is sleeping so much better in his own room.

    Yay for date nights!

  • Escape room??

  • @SandNStarsNJ and @leighry escape room is basically a room that's set up like a theme (ie. bank heist. Mental institution etc) that's usually a little scary. They lock you in and you have a time limit to find a bunch of clues to help you "escape". So you have to work as a team to be able find clues to open different doors or locks and break out. It's super fun especially if you like puzzles etc.

  • I wish they had mommy and me movies here. I've called around and haven't been able to find anything  :(. @kristah2 How did M do during the movie?
    SandNStarsNJ
  • Super jealous @kristah2! That looks so awesome!

  • interesting on the movies with babies - I had no idea it was a real thing. That would be nice although I'd probably be too nervous he would fuss

What she said. This will be the 3rd one I've done. The first one I ever did was actually in NJ when I was visiting friends. This is the one I went to, not sure if it is anywhere near you @SandNStarsNJ

  • @Ladybug2821 he did so good! Got fussy a couple of times but nothing the boob couldn't fix!

@kvruns I was worse about the same thing but once I got there it didn't bother me. Everyone who was there had babies with them so everyone understands! Some babies fussed a little and people did walk around the back with them or warm up bottles or breastfeed. One person sat in the rocking chair with babe for a while to calm them.

If anyone has the opportunity to go I highly recommend it! Cineplex does it in Canada!

  • I also think I might get annoyed if other babies were fussing loudly and weren't being quieted. Even though I know that it can be tough to quiet the baby, mine included, I don't want to listen to someone else's baby cry too much  :/
  • @m6agua that sounds awesome!
  • Welp... enjoying some Cadbury eggs and wine. Whole30 starts tomorrow!

  • @hoosiermama I wish you had mentioned you were starting one! We could have gotten a group together!

Ive been back at work for a week and I need my replacement to just go away. She keeps texting and emailing as she ends the grading she had left. If she indicates she is grade inflating one more time, I'm going to lose it. I returned to a lot of very unprepared kids who tell me they were talked at for the majority of discussions. She's driving me crazy! End of rant.

  • We're looking to take M on a little family vacation in May! (He will be just over 6 months).
We are super open to anywhere south, within th US (probably east ish for $$ purposes) or Europe (again watching $$)

any baby friendly and budget friendly opinions??
we are flying from eastern Canada.
  • Have you checked out Iceland? It's pretty cheap and we went there in October 2015. IcelandAir does some great deals. There's history, an interesting food and beer scene, lots of gorgeous scenery and a city that's big and not overwhelming. If you want to go elsewhere in Europe, Iceland Air also does good deals for a few days in Iceland.
