  •   :'(:'(  it sucks but you got this! I hope your day goes by very quickly!

Our water heater spring a link this afternoon. Sooooo... do I go wake up earlier & go out of my way to shower at the gym... or rough it?  :s

  • Judging by my typos waking up early is not in my favor. Need... sleep....  :D

  • So at our four month check up Dr said it looked like some adhesions were trying to reform around his circumcision. Said no big deal but to continue to pull the skin down to keep them from forming and cause any that had formed to let go. So for the past three days I've been doing like she said and tonight at bath time I noticed the skin where he was circumcised is really red. Now I'm worried I've done something wrong :( ugh. Guess I wait and see how it looks tomorrow. I'm just worried it's causing him pain poor little guy :(.
  • @hoosiermama A little dry shampoo and you're good as new! Hope the water heater is fixed soon.

@rspalding001 I pull the skin back regularly to wash (it's unsettling the white stuff that shows up there) and it's usually red afterwards but clears up in a few hours. FX for you and LO. I'm sure you didn't do anything wrong.

  • I offered to babysit for some family friends. They said they'd be back at 8:45. It's now 9:39. LO gets put to bed at 7ish. He slept for a little while, but with 7 yo twins around an only child used to quiet means he can't stay asleep here. I made a mistake. I need to learn to say no.
  • @desoky01 that stinks! And is pretty inconsiderate of them. I'd pass next time they asked too.

@rspalding001 I hope he is better! I do my best to clean around that area but sometimes I irritate it if I'm trying to over clean it at every diaper change so maybe like @SandNStarsNJ said it will just clear on its own!
  • B has been up every 1-1.5 hours since I put him to sleep. I was naive to think this sleep regression wouldn't be bad since he's been such a good sleeper. How do you go from 10+ hours a night to 1 hour?!?!

This last 430 wake up screwed me over since I usually get up at 515 so I'm up now. Though there's barely anything to pump since I had to nurse to sleep again so I have to start burning the freezer stash.  Oh and I'm sick because ya know I need more to deal with. If LO hadn't been sick and out of daycare I might do some workfrom home but I barely was able to work last week so I need to go to the office and do real stuff (sickness is just a sore throat for a few days so shouldn't be spreading anything)
  • I'm right there with you on the baby woke at 4:30 and here I am at 5:15 limbo @kvruns

@desoky01 That's extremely inconsiderate of them. Especially since they know you have a LO as well. Hope the pay is worth it!

  • Good luck @SandNStarsNJ

did your friends apologize for being late @desoky01
    SandNStarsNJ
  • They did, they felt really bad and paid me extra. Now that I'm home and LO slept well I'm feeling less mad, but still won't be bringing him to babysit past bedtime. Not worth the stress. Glad I can vent to you guys!

    Hope things gets better @kvruns

  • @sandnstarsnj Good Luck!  Hope it goes well.

@kvruns Hope it passes quickly.  This is one of the many reasons why we should have a year maternity leave in the US.  There are just too many changes in the first year and having to work really gets in the way and is difficult when you are exhausted.

  • Last night was bizarre. I went out to a concert with a friend, left A home with my husband. I knew it was going to go poorly when I went upstairs to get dressed and A started flipping out. I came back down and she was fine. It was only an hour and a half until bedtime. Apparently, she was a mess for that entire hour and a half but she was so exhausted, she fell asleep. All last night, she was having restless sleep. She was crying, flailing, fidgeting but she was asleep about 80% of the time. Around 4:30, I couldn't take it anymore and woke her up to bring her into nurse in bed. She was happy, smiling and cuddly, until she fell asleep. She was straight up screaming in her sleep, flailing, kicking; it was awful. Now I feel terribly guilty. Any ideas what could have caused this?
  • One reason I haven't put S in her own room yet is for selfish reasons.  She is still nursing 2-3 times a night and I really don't feel like going across the house to her room for it.  I'm exhausted as it is and I know doing all that will make it harder for me to go back to sleep.  How do you ladies manage that have your LO's in their own rooms?  Either way after she is 6 months, she will be in her own room, but part of me is dreading it.

Does anyone notice a wet diaper causing LO to wake up?  I'm currently using the Pampers Baby Dry and don't normally change her when doing feedings anymore because she will get riled up (unless she pooped which is very rare).  But I'm starting to wonder if some of her wake ups (not needing to nurse) might be diaper related.

  • @Ladybug2821 I sleep in the guest room next to his room. It is easier for me than being in my bedroom where I have to grab my phone/glasses/monitor/etc each time and try to be quiet and not wake up H.

I don't think B wakes up or gets mad from a diaper. I don't change him overnight and his are soaking wet lately I almost feel like I should but I can't handle him being that extra fired up and loud if it doesn't absolutely need it (like a poopy diaper)

  • I have a wedding to go to in a month and I really need to get my but in gear. I need to start eating better, I have about 10 lbs to loose to fit in a borrowed bridesmaids dress. :# So far today is a fail. I brought salad for lunch and now I am eating chili and a soda instead.

@Ladybug2821 S wakes up after pooping.  We are about to try honest brand overnight diapers to see if that'll help.

Don't bother trying the Pampers Swaddlers overnight diapers. They are no different than the regular Swaddlers except for the sleeping Elmo design. Waste of money!

@Ladybug2821 a super wet diaper will make our LO squirm and toss her head side to side but not fully wake up... but she sleeps in between us, so it wakes me up! I usually change her diaper between 2-4 and she'll settle again. This has happened with every brand of diaper we use... Swaddlers, Meijer, Huggies Snug & Dry, Luvs.

ETA: she gets a fresh diaper around 10, before nursing and falling asleep.

  • @RhodaMorgenstern I don't have anything really helpful, but E sleeps better when I'm around. DH has been home with her the last week and he says she's so restless in bed after i leave for work. And a few times when I've been out, he's said she won't sleep the same. Maybe they just know we're not there?!
    Ladybug2821
  • @hoosiermama did you like Meijer diapers? I'm always interested in lower priced alternatives
  • Anyone have an issue with LO waking up within an hour of going down?  I thought maybe it had to do with DST so I put up something to make the room darker today. She still woke up within 45 mins. I'm able to just go in, give her a paci. turn her on her side and she goes back to sleep but it just seems weird. Prior to DST she never did this. Could she still be adjusting?
  • I was really nervous about sleeping in a different room for some of the same reasons @Ladybug2821. I thought it would be awful to get up and have to go into his room to feed him, but we were going in there to change him anyway and it wasn't that different. He also started sleeping more when he was in his own room, maybe because none of us was waking the others up? I'm not going to lie, sometimes I get frustrated in the middle of the night because it would be easier to just keep him in with us. There have definitely been some positives too though, and it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. Granted, his room is right next door.

  • @kvruns I think LO mostly just gets worked up over here if he has a poopy diaper or has leaked through his current diaper. He doesn't do that very often, but when he does I wonder if he gets cold. We use cloth though too, so idk if that makes a difference. It's weird how dry he stays at night sometimes too, much longer stretches with no pee than during the day.

I've noticed the same thing! M gets up 2-3x a night and sometimes he's completely dry even though it's been two or three hours. Inevitably he pees while nursing though so it's like he's holding it in his sleep.

We've had this from time to time but it seems to be very much a hunger thing each time. We will attempt to soothe and when that fails I feed him and he is ravenous.

  • I lost my voice. I had a sore throat a couple days and my voice started fading and is gone now. I've course I have a service appointment for my car for some thing H is making me do even though I don't have time. Going to make him call and explain the problem since I can't talk

I think they do. LO naps the best for me.

  • Thanks, guys. I actually called the pediatrician yesterday because it worried so much. She said A is a bit young for separation anxiety and what sound like night terrors. Of course, last night I sat up until 11, obsessively watching the monitor and she slept until 6 am. She flailed her arms once and sucked her thumb but she stayed asleep and there was no screaming. Maybe it was a one off?

This is exactly what happens to me every year with allergies. Starts as a sore throat from the drip and usually turns into losing my voice. Mine hit a few weeks ago when the tree pollen picked up around here. Now I'm down to just an occasional drip and my voice is fine, thank goodness. Do you have allergies @kvruns?

This has been E the past week plus. Every night we put her down and she's awake within the hour, if we're lucky she'll give us two, but it's been mostly an hour. We've never really established the pacifier with her, though we're trying to reintroduce, so we end up picking her up and soothing her back to sleep. I hadn't connected it to DST, but my instinct is that it's just a sleep regression thing.
  • I started running again a month or two ago with a friend. We were working our way into it so at first it was more walking than running. Now we're running more than walking and I'm discovering I have the mom problem - I pee myself a bit while running. :s It doesn't matter if I make an effort to empty my bladder before we start, all that jostling means by the end of almost every run, it's happened. I have been running most often in the rain since I live in the pacific NW, so it's not obvious to anyone else but me, but eventually the weather will clear up and I'll have to worry about it showing. I want to go to a zumba class on Wednesdays, but now I'm nervous. Other than kegels, does anyone have other ways I can strengthen my lady muscles?

@Lajoliedreamer interesting. I don't really have allergies although in Hs I used to have some from some plant that bloomed - it was usually the same week every year (April something) but it went away after HS never know though

boo on th exercise peeing. I have friends who do that too but sadly no advice
  • @kvruns - it took me years to realize/admit that I had allergies, I always assumed it was an annoying cold/sinus infection, but gradually realized it happened around the same time every year. I've never been tested to find out exactly what's causing it, though.
