Welllll, it happened We had an elective US today and the tech seemed to think baby's genetals aren't formed enough to say 'boy or girl'. This is the only real shot we got. Thoughts??
oh hmmm that sucks. Honestly it isn't the best crotch shot. If I had to guess I'd say boy, because like pp said, I don't see the three lines. Are they going to let you come back in a couple weeks for a rescan?

She wants to rescan again in a week. I have a few videos where you can honestly see it could go either way. I don't see a defined penis like you could see with DS but this certainly doesn't look like a vagina either.
I can't really tell whether it's boy or girl. Ours was unmistakable at 16 weeks and I had it confirmed with another ultrasound tech just to be sure. Although I know that elective places sometimes have techs that aren't well trained in the area and many times can't tell what they're looking at. We had our scan at a hospital by a lady who's been doing it for 17 years. But that stinks that you paid for it and couldn't tell for sure. Usually they will give you another scan.
According to my LMP- I should actually be close to 17 weeks. But according to measurements- I'm about 2 weeks behind according to my cycle (which was always flaky to begin with- I have NEVER had regular periods). I had an US at 7w and another at 9w and both of those were done by the tech at my OB. This place was elective so she certainly could potentially not be as experienced but who am I to say??
The tech today said she didn't feel as though she could give me a gender bc it doesn't look like a 15 week fetus.. Which in turn has me concerned. Is baby growing like it should?? I have an OB appt Tuesday- I wonder if I can convince them to scan for peace of mind? (Not gender related obviously..just wanna make sure baby is developing properly).

I mean I would mention it. I think it is craptastic that the elective ultrasound tech said that to you. Nothing like stressing out a pregnant woman.
Even if the baby's measuring "on track" at this stage, it's still hard to tell. Girl parts can be swollen still and resemble boy's. I had a medical u/s done at 15 weeks and they were unable to tell. Good luck finding out next time and try not to stress.

One of many reasons why I hate elective ultrasounds. She should've kept her mouth shut. I'm sorry you couldn't find out the gender & I'm sorry you're now stressed
I'd say boy, but if you're not as far along as you think, then it could go either way because girl parts can look like boy parts at first. Hold off a couple weeks and try again.
Re: Hotdog or Hamburger??
And although she's not supposed to- the tech said she doesn't feel as though I'm even THAT far along.
