@HollyGolightly09 I'm so sorry. I hope you didn't tell her that the tech was only 90% sure. Wouldn't want her holding out hope that the tech was wrong, so that she can be disappointed all over again. That's something my mom would do.
DH just took two bunnies I bought for the babies and put them under his sweatshirt. He then proceeded to pretend to give birth to them. I don't know why, but I found this so hilarious.

@HollyGolightly09 Before you found out it was a girl, did she express that she wanted a boy or why? Does she have a lot of boys on her side or something? Just seems really random to want a certain sex so badly.
My SO cracked me up this morning. There was a small fold in my dress and he said "oh look! You really are starting to get a bit of a belly!" Then he asked me to lift It up so that he could see and when I did his face fell and he said, "Oh. . . No. No, you're not." I don't know why but his face had me cry-laughing.
But we did go to the obgyn today and I heard little one's heartbeat (145bpm) and I have gained 5 lbs since my last appointment a month ago.
@HollyGoLightly09 I would have slapped her! But I'm very emotionally aggressive recently. I am so so sorry she said that to you. You're little girl could be a Tom boy, play all the sports, or hey, could even be trans. There you go MIL, happy?? All the hugs to you. She is definitely not being fair. How hurtful of her to be disappointed and not excited that she will be having a new granddaughter.
There is very nothing that you can do with a boy that you can't do with a girl and vice versa.
Does she ever get jealous or insecure about her son? That he is growing up and having a life or his love for you? I've seen some mothers want to recreate or relive relationships they had with their own sons through their grandsons and what not.
@mrsmarygs She has 5 granddaughters and no grandsons... so I guess that's why. She has refused to think of the baby as anything but a boy the whole time. I told DH a couple of weeks ago I thought she would be disappointed with a girl.
It just hurts my feelings for DH.... and for my baby. She can't help that other girls were born before her.

It truly surprises me how petty people can be about other people's pregnancies. Family should be offering nothing but kindness and support. Not acting like children when they don't get their way about a baby they aren't even going to be raising.
@HollyGolightly09 I'm really sorry about her response and attitude. Personally I think having 5 girl cousins will be a blast for your baby girl. Think of all the tea parties and boy talk they could have (if yall are close).

These stories make me feel like I should just not tell my family the baby's sex until she/he is born. My mom seems to really want a girl, so does SIL. And both of them are constantly asking exactly what day we are going to find out. I haven't even scheduled my A/S yet.

She will sometimes make odd comments, like last week DH was saying something to his sister about taking me shopping and his mom said "well you never take me shopping" She also gets upset if she finds out he was off and didn't come see her.
I told him if it had been my mom we would still be screaming, lol. She was on speaker phone when she made her little comment, and DH immediately took her off. He knew I was about to say something.
I think I might call and see if my harmony results are in this afternoon if I haven't heard anything. It's been 10 days/8 business days. I don't want to be annoying but...
We're getting a lot of talk about hoping LO is a girl. It's not pushy and I dont think people would be truly disappointed if this one is another boy. But I do comment that another boy would be more practical than a girl and people seem to respond positively to that statement. With 5 older girl cousins it would be so much more practical to have a girl, @hollygolightly09. They could talk about things together that kids don't usually want to tell their parents first. They could share clothes/give handmedowns, etc.
@HollyGolightly09 She sounds like she needs to grow up. She is a grown woman. If she wants to go shopping, she should go shopping. If she wants company, she should ask someone to come along. Don't act like a whiney baby because he is spending time with his WIFE.

OMG. Our admin assistant went out to run errands, and I decided to be a nice Licensed Associate and take some of the calls...OMG. Worst Idea Ever. The most complicated of clients (who of course aren't mine, but my boss's) are calling with the most RANDOM questions and requests that I do not have the answer for right off the top of my head. Ugh. COME BACK ADMIN COME BACK.

@HollyGolightly09 I'm so sorry your MiL is being a cuntcookie. Seriously she's upset because she was envisioning reliving her glory days as DH mom. I'm 100% serious. My mil did the same thing when we were pregnant with DS (telling me she can't wait to see him running to her when he gets off the bus coming home from school? I'm like well he will be coming home.... not to your house? And most likely will not be riding a bus?) it's like they think their sons son will rekindle the mom/son bond they used to have. Or at least this is how the psycho MiL acts. Like mine and yours. Oh well, now she's all pissed at me and DH because she does not have the relationship with DS that she thought she'd have, but don't let her crap bother you. I know you are thrilled regardless of sex! Everyone else should be too!
