I hate fb "Mom groups". People ask the stupidest questions and should really call their pediatrician or use google. But I stay for the entertainment.
YES. Same for military spouse groups. I'm on our bases group page and I don't think I've ever commented, but the entertainment value alone is worth it!

1. I hate when people/ older siblings refer to the baby as "sissy, sister, or brother". I assume the child has a name, can we not use that?
2. People are stupid. Like, really stupid. You don't know how to wash your carseat? Hmm, maybe look at the tag or the manual. You don't have the manual so you ask an internet group? Why not google the manual. I would think this is common sense...
3. This is not an UO. In fact, I think you'll agree this is a popular opinion. I'm cranky today. Like, really cranky.
I don't know if this is FFFC or UO... but I think the Darren Knight "Southern Mama" skits are hysterical! Like i laugh till i have tears running down my face because if it wasn't my mom doing those things, I knew someones mom as a kid that did!
1. I hate when people/ older siblings refer to the baby as "sissy, sister, or brother". I assume the child has a name, can we not use that?
I actually LOL'd. I love AD. I do think it's a little different for me to call up my brother and say "Hey Bro, hows it going?" Than the whole little kid going "Cmon sissy" thing. IDK.
A friend of mine just posted the apology goodie bags she made for flying with her three kids. Those things make me ragey. People have to travel sometimes, some people have kids that go with them. Suck it up and deal. A cutesy bag with a note, candy, and earplugs is insulting both to other parents and your seat mates.
@Hansolosparka - YES to mom groups. I'm in a big, very active one and I roll my eyes at so many posts. There's pretty regular drama on there though, which is entertaining. My favorite was sparked by one mom asking for other mom opinions about the possibility of a Frozen sequel including a lesbian angle. It. Was. Gold.
My UO (which may actually be super unpopular, and admittedly was sparked by convo in the randoms thread)...I'm alright with insurance not covering circumcisions when they are done for non-medical reasons (ie. complications that arise later). I'm not rabidly anti-circ or anything like that, I just understand why an insurance company would make a distinction between medically necessary and elective procedures. To me, it would be like asking an insurance company to cover ear piercing. Okay, so maybe not the best comparison, but I can't think of a better example right now.

My OU: I do not feel sexier with a larger chest. I had been about a D prior to last pregnancy, went up from there during pregnancy, then lost a ton of weight and went down to my high school size B cup and I realized I greatly prefer a tiny boob. High school me would have disagreed.
I hate fb "Mom groups". People ask the stupidest questions and should really call their pediatrician or use google. But I stay for the entertainment.
I'm in a few but they are very specific to sub-interests and so there aren't any stupid posts.
My UO: I just heard that there is some new fancy car that is eliminating the CD player. I'm NOT a fan of this. In fact, I'm already sad that there are no cars with tape decks. Our car has both and I feel like we need to keep it forever. How else will we play our old 90s mix tapes? And a lot of music we like is on CDs. I don't want no streaming nonsense.
But I wanted to make a more general UO -- I like having a low-tech car and I'm not a fan of high-tech cars that are basically computers. We have no built-in GPS, but we can hook up a device or use our phones if we like. We have no chips in the key, so we can just get a key copied for $5 if we lose one or need a spare. We have no screens in the backseat. I'm SO happy about this. Our kids actually have to fend for themselves on car rides & road trips and they get pretty creative doing so. I know they'd be addicted, even for 5 min drives, if we had screens in the car. DH and I say we'd pay MORE for no screens.
I realize that these computers can add a lot of safety and I understand that is quite valuable. But I also feel like they can be hacked (maybe this is just me watching too many crime shows.) And now that I say the key thing it does sound quite unsafe if someone wants to steal my low-tech old car...haha, but I guess this is why it's an UO? And really the main part of this UO is that we are SO happy to have no screens. We probably need a new car soon (also because ours is having difficulty getting 3 carseats across the back safely), and we will prioritize having no screens again.
@kat81 I agree on the no screens issue. I don't need my kids getting 5 mins of tv every time we hop in the car to run down the street. DD is allowed her tablet or an ipad on road trips, but not for runs around town. However, I could never go back to a vehicle without a backup cam. It's so handy/helpful, especially in the daycare parking lot.
@kat81 no screens in the car here either. I'm not anti-screen in general either. We don't do a lot of tv and the iPad is a rare occurrence in our house but we definitely have been known to put something on Netflix on weekend mornings for DS and we definitely let him use the iPad sometimes in the evening when we're exhausted or really need to get something done and our other tricks aren't working.
That said, I don't want to get in the habit of having screens available in the car because it seems like SUCH a hard habit to break and such a slippery slope. DS is content to listen to music, look out the window, and read on our 30-60 minute commute and I'm certainly not going to let him know there are any other options for him during that time.

This sounds like us. We used to be anti-screen but we caved and we definitely do it at home sometimes under similar circumstances. Just don't want to develop a car habit. I know my kids. They would literally be freaking out after their 5 min of TV, sad that we have arrived, and sad they cannot watch more. I do not need that added drama in my life. If it means the occasional 3 hr car ride is somewhat hellish (and really, it's not bad, because they are used to entertaining themselves), then so be it. I don't want every single car ride to be them fixated on a screen, unable to have a conversation, etc. (And you might say, "then only break out the screens when you're on a roadtrip," but they'd know they're in the car, and then demand them all of the time.) They need to NOT be in the vehicle, no matter what. I'd pay extra to not have them.

agreed. And I could see the camera being very helpful, especially when there are little kids in a parking lot who are impossible to see.

This is one of the things I'm most excited about with the whole needing a new car that will fit three car seats thing! I've never had a backup camera, and I was in love with it when I saw it in my brother's car!! I'm not wanting screens in my van either, but I think with wanting to get it used, it will end up being cheaper to buy one with screens, and then either disable them or figure out some other way to make sure they never turn on and our kids never figure out what they are

Sigh, I really wanted a back up cam when we were car shopping a couple months ago. I had to do with out and now that it's hard to twist around to look behind me fully I wish I had one!
We both agreed our kids will watch tv/ movies ( we watch a lot). However, no screen time in the car on a regular basis. I always read in the car or stared out the window or w/e, my kids can do that.
UO- I don't understand posting all your food on FB to brag about being healthy. And all the hashtags about it! Ugh!! #postworkoutsnack #healthyeating #paleo #vegan #allorganic #madefromscratch #farmfresh #alllocalingredients (probably not a super UO here, but there are a couple of my friends...)
I hate mint chocolate chip ice cream. Or just mint and chocolate mixed together. Apart they are fine together is just gross.
@SWE2 My love for mint + chocolate is one of my strongest opinions. I have MCC ice cream every night! H feels the same way you do (I'll never understand him) but that just means less competition for scarce/delicious snacking resources...
@WombThereItIs , I totally agree with you on the flight bags. Or buying drinks for surrounding passengers, etc. Sometimes, children have to fly. It can't be avoided. I do wish, however, that airlines had a section towards the back slotted as family seating so that you could opt to sit near other families with children. Obviously, it couldn't be strictly enforced, but at least if you end up booking there as a person not flying with kids, you know what you are in for ahead of time. And as a person who has flown a few times with my kiddo, I'd like to not have to apologize profusely to the person seated in front of my son's car seat because the seats are too damn small to allow them to recline AND my son to fly safely secured.
I'm half on the no screens bandwagon...we do use them in the car sometimes to keep DS from falling asleep before we get home (he's impossible to move once sleeping) or if we've had a rough day and the commute looks like it will be more than an hour. We don't have a lot of downtime at home during the week, on the weekends we do let him watch cartoons in the morning before we head out for the day. And we have a ridiculous home theater in our basement (built by the previous owners) that we sometimes do family movie night on, but he can rarely sit still for the whole thing.
@kayemjay2 , I agree with you on circumcision insurance coverage. Most optional, cosmetic things are not covered by insurance, so it makes sense to me that if the standard medical recommendations don't deem it medically necessary, insurance wouldn't cover it.
I have no original UO right now...my brain is barely functioning today...
I have a CD player in my car but have never used it so I wouldn't be upset if it were gone. I am also on the can't live without back up cam, lane assist, Bluetooth connection for my phone and my in car navigation. Just so much easier. My car is one of the higher electronics and having them I could never go back.
As of 2016 or 2017 all suvs will come with back up cameras.
As as far as the tv screens in the cars you don't have to have them on or open if you don't want to use them. Will be cheaper to find a vehicle without them as they are an added expense to get them.
I don't understand the popularity of jelly beans. I think that half of the flavors are disgusting and they seem so overpriced to me. I would much rather have skittles or starburst or just chocolate.
They make Starburst jelly beans!
It’s not that I don’t like you, it’s that I don’t know you. Stranger Danger.
I love my back-up camera. I've never used the CD player in my vehicle, it's either my favorite FM station, XM radio, or my iPod. I prefer the built-in GPS I have because it overrides the car radio so I always hear it, and I don't have to use cellular data and drain my cell phone battery. We have a tablet for DD that we use for longer car rides, no built-in screens.
It’s not that I don’t like you, it’s that I don’t know you. Stranger Danger.

@vrj0522 I typically only like the soda flavored ones. The fruit ones are so, meh. Sometimes I can get on board with bubble gum, black licorice, and popcorn.
@vrj0522 - I see you said the 'traditional' ones above - I assume this means the larger, maybe 10 color ones that come out around Easter? Surely you don't mean GOURMET JELLY BELLY beans which are life.
@nda_roxybabe my brother in the last few years calls me sister on phone or in text or dear. There's a backup camera and a right mirror camera (which makes merging the best), and now I never want to go back. But, H and I both agree that we don't want tv screens in the car. Like others mentioned, we learned to keep ourselves busy in the car when we were young (car games, watching out the window, etc), and I like that.

I generally agree on the screen time issue, though I have made exceptions. Most notably, on the 30 or so minute drive from the doctor to pick up an Rx for my son who had a double ear infection and was miserable. I definitely put some Sesame Street on my tablet for him for that drive.
Jelly Belly = amazing. Every time I'm at Costco, I'm tempted to purchase their gigantic tubs of JBs. My husband hates sweets though, so I'd eat them all. And then I'd have no teeth. I love every flavor except buttered popcorn. That's a BS flavor.
