@Amybee5 , I'm so sorry to hear of your loss...losing a pet is never easy, but especially challenging, I'd imagine, with pregnancy hormones.
@ShadeofGreen816 , I will be sending positive vibes to your friend. I hope everything goes smoothly tomorrow and they are both doing well.
@thistlenweeds , jealous of your furniture shopping spree! I LOOOOVE furniture shopping. But it is a lot of tough decision making! As far as mattresses go, we bought one online from a company called Nest. The one we bought is the Alexander mattress--if you are at all interested in doing online research vs. checking one out in stores, you should google it. TONS of good reviews, pretty sure it comes in Firm, and we love it. One year in and it's still as good as brand new and super, super comfy.
Random question, when do you preregister for the hospital? I looked all over my hospital's website and it just gives you the option to preregister but does not give a suggestion or time frame for when to actually do it.
@bacorrea So glad to hear that ordering the pump was easy! OB said he would give me my RX at this weeks Appt. Which one did you order?
@Yiggle09 I think TDAP is anytime within the third trimester. Although I think my OB mentioned it possibly happening at this weeks visit which I'll be 27wks.
@mcvgal You're OB should give you all the paperwork/information for pre-registering at your hospital!

I'm getting my TDAP tmrw at 27 weeks, just like @Hansolosparka.
My OB told me it's once during every pregnancy, and that people you live with should have it every 5 years. It's my understanding that the "P" part of it is the most worrisome nowadays (it's for pertussis, which is whooping cough---quite contagious and awful), though this whole buffet of infections is good to guard against.

Good question! Places likely have different policies, but for mine: I have the form to complete and mail in at 6 weeks prior to due date. I think the main point is to give them time to line up the payments/insurance plan.
I've been avoiding the GD test like the plague. I need to go to the lab sometime between today and Monday. I'm more than likely going to have to drag my two kids along, so not looking forward to that.

We even made our parents and any family visiting get the TDAP booster before coming over to visit DS. We put our foot down and drew a line in the sand. FIL didn't get it (thought we weren't that serious about it) and MH said he couldn't come over. He finally got it but was delayed visiting for a month until it took effect. Whooping cough is no joke and I didn't care if I hurt anyone's feelings! Ok, rant over.
Random question, when do you preregister for the hospital? I looked all over my hospital's website and it just gives you the option to preregister but does not give a suggestion or time frame for when to actually do it.
My hospital recommends as early as 28 weeks. We're doing a hospital tour when I'm around 30 weeks, so I'll just do it then.
@hp_momma I got the In Style. There were 4 to choose from. The Spectra was one, Bellama, and Ameda. Each one came with a hands free pumping bra, 100 milk storage bags, and extra breast shield and Kindee starter set? I'm not 100% what all the kindee stuff included. It's a lot! Tricare def stepped up their game from when I was pregnant with DD!
@bacorrea It comes with all of that?! Amazing!!! I think I'm going to go with the Spectra just because I already have the Pump in Style so I want to try something different. So amazing Tricare has stepped up their game, DD1 and DD2 were both before the change. Although I try not to complain too much when I remember how awesome our hospital bill (or lack of) is in the end. The good with the bad right?!
Question: For those who have flown later in pregnancy, did you bring a doctors note with you for the airline? I've flown plenty of times in early pregnancy, but this will be the first time in 3rd trimester. I'm flying Southwest and I know their policy says anytime before 38wks but I didn't know if they needed some documentation from the doctor...

@Amybee5 sorry about your fur baby. I can only imagine how sad you must feel. Our beloved friend of 12.5 years has been really been declining over the last month so and I know I'm not far from your situation. It's got to be so hard when it's so sudden too! Hoping you can get some rest.
I've been avoiding the GD test like the plague. I need to go to the lab sometime between today and Monday. I'm more than likely going to have to drag my two kids along, so not looking forward to that.
I have to go do mine on Friday. I will pull a number and sit in the DMV like lab in solidarity with you!
@hp_momma Thank you for being the tricare guinea pig I want the new Medela Sonata but I am iffy on them reimbursing for it.
I also demanded all visitors have the Tdap, which my OB administers in 3rd tri. I'll get it next week at 29 wks.
@hp_momma How far along will you be when you fly? I flew last time around 30-32 weeks, which was my dr's cutoff for me to fly. I didn't have a note then.
I got my TDAP at my last appointment- 26and a bit weeks. It did make my arm pretty sore for a couple of days, but no other issues. I got it in the arm that I don't usually use to carry my kiddos, so it wasn't really a problem!
@ShadeofGreen816 I'll be thinking of your friend! One of my littles was born at 36 weeks, the other earlier. She may need to check that her car seat holds down to the weight that baby is once baby is here! If baby is fine, but under 5lbs, they'll need probably not the usual car seat to take baby home.

I haven't flown, but I wouldn't take the chance of not having the documentation if they ask. It's such a simple thing to request from the doc, that I'd err on the side of being overprepared and not needing it, than dealing with morons at the airport who can make a snap judgment and bar you from the plane.
@WombThereItIs Solidarity! I'm trying to decide when the least busy it will be... there is a possibility that would happen right?! Ha.
@NotAPlaya-JustCrushAlot I'll be 31wks. My OB also said his cut-off was 32wks. Can you imagine flying at 38wks like the airlines cutoff?! I'm not measuring huge so I can't imagine the flight attendant would think I'm going into labor that day, but they always have crazy rules so I wasn't sure.

@hp_momma , I agree with @SKZW , better to be over prepared! I was flying back and forth from Boston to NYC for work basically every month through my whole last pregnancy and didn't think anything of it, but one time (probably around 32 weeks?), I had to pull up a medical record on my phone to prove my due date. The ticket checker was extremely leery of me flying which turned out to be because his wife had gone into labor at 30 weeks. It was a pain, but he ended up bumping me to first class for my troubles. That was the last time I flew while pregnant...the story was enough to get me out of future work travel obligations, haha...
@hp_momma I'm going first thing that they open. I had to take the three hour THREE times last time because I failed the one hour and I'm not messing with that again. I figure (probably wrongly) if I go in first thing before eating I'll have a low number and more room to work with haha.

Ha, that is my fear! It's like luck of the draw if you get someone friendly or not. Last time I was at the airport a mom was flying with an infant (clearly under the age of 2) and they wouldn't give her a lap child ticket because she didn't have anything to prove babies birthdate.

Ooh good point @Squirtgun. I actually know she has the Britax B-safe 35 Elite and it looks like it's good for babies over 4 pounds.

@Kipperoo: You're lucky that you had proof on your phone! I totally get why the guy did it, but still...
Oh, yeah! I was totally calm about it and it made sense...I was kicking myself for not getting some form of proof, but the flight is like 45 minutes long, so I honestly wasn't thinking about it the same way I would if I was traveling further. This pregnancy is very different because I'm less willing to make myself uncomfortable by flying in the 3rd tri for the sake of work...my team is at a trade show in Las Vegas this week and I just totally pulled a pregnancy card and said that my doctor would prefer I not travel...which really isn't true...

Also, it is advisable to have your ACOG info/forms with you while traveling regardless of airline requirements. Your doctor office will provide this readily when asked. This comes in handy if (God forbid) you needed to go to an OB triage area during your travels. It will help any providers there have a good idea of your history and what's been going on throughout the pregnancy. Another good idea is to research hospitals which hospitals have L&D. You need to know where to tell someone to take you in case of emergency. As obviously not all hospitals have OB units

I literally just gasped reading this--I can't imagine taking the 3 hour THREE times. It's my nightmare. I took it twice during my last pregnancy and you would have thought I was being tossed into a battle-to-the-death ring the way I complained about it in the days leading up. That test makes me feel AWFUL for like 24 full hours. I nearly cried when I had to take the 3 hour this pregnancy.
@NotAPlaya-JustCrushAlot and @Kipperoo Ok so how uncomfortable am I going to be flying at 31wks? It's a 3 hour flight, and I'm flying with my 5 and 3yr old by myself, but at least I'll have the whole row! My doctor said I shouldn't need any compression socks...

@rkstro2 Good point! I'll ask my doctor if he wants me to bring any notes... military doctors aren't the easies to get copies of records from. I'm traveling to my hometown and actually delivered DD1 there so I know an OB and hospital that I'm comfortable with, which definitely puts me at ease if something were to happen!

@hp_momma I flew at 34w last time and my army doc wrote me a quick note with my due date that said I was good to go. I let the nurse know I would ask for it at the beginning of the appointment and it was no big deal.
I would suggest compression socks for comfort though. We just did a 3 hour drive yesterday and my feet were really uncomfortable at the end.
@hp_momma , I think the hardest part about flying at that stage with kiddos is that bending down to get to your carry on is really difficult. If you think the kids can manage a lot of the activity grabbing themselves, then it might not be so bad. I have never flown with a child while pregnant, but I just generally dislike flying with small children even on a good (non-pregnant) day, so maybe I'm not the best judge...haha...
Oh crap I forgot about the TDAP shot. I'm dreading that since it made me so sore. When I filled out my medical history I tried ti put in my last shot for June 2014 (when pregnant with DD) but somehow it ended up 2016.
I agree with everybody that whoever is going to be exposed to baby should get it. I told my parents they couldn't come until they got it. They thought the whole thing was silly (because gosh we didn't have to do this kind of stuff back in the days) but they obliged. Plus they hadn't gotten it for over a decade anyways so they were overdue.
As for the GD, I didn't have to fast either time. I just stayed away from anything sugary. This time I just had a bowl of plain cheerio an hour prior and it was fine.
@mcvgal my doctor gave me the paperwork for it when i just started seeing her. I skimmed through it then and all my brain registered was that it said i have to send the form to the hospital somewhere after 20 weeks. It actually said 'at 20 weeks'. Lol. So i was 8 weeks late sending it, it looks like. And they receive it by fax so i don't know how to confirm i made it in. Maybe i should call them. Or might ask my OB next week when i see her.

My 5yr old has probably flown 30 times so she's like an expert. She has her own backpack and knows where to sit right away. My 3yr old is a different story... she has hit the Terrible Three stage already so we never know when a tantrum might happen. I'm planning on just carrying my diaper bag and checking everything else so I'll make sure not to load it too heavy. I just wish people in general were more understanding. When I flew at 21wks I remember just wanting to stand up and stretch once we landed and we're waiting to disembark. I'm tall so I need to stand in the aisle to actually be able to stand up completely and so many people literally shove their way past to try to get off the plane first. Let the pregnant lady stretch people!
