  • ooh TDap...put in my notes to ask ask at my appt. in 2 weeks.

Hospital registration: Think I'm safe to assume I can inquire/ do that at the hospital tour in 3 weeks?

Umm...flying at 38 weeks?! That just sounds nuts to me!

  • I know this sounds nuts and old fashioned but I get all my shots in my butt. For work I have to get flu and it hurts for like half a day then I'm fine. The tdap hurt but not much last pregnancy when I had it there. I've had horrible things happen when I got the gardisil shot back in the day in my arm nerve issues for over a year etc. No shots in my arms anymore.

@hp_momma I'm going first thing that they open. I had to take the three hour THREE times last time because I failed the one hour and I'm not messing with that again. I figure (probably wrongly) if I go in first thing before eating I'll have a low number and more room to work with haha.
That's my other hesitation! I've always fasted for the test and this time my doctor said no fasting... so now I am nervous I'll eat something wrong!
I asked my doc for a list of food that would be a good idea to eat before the test. She said things like yogurt, eggs and fruit. Try to be light with the carbs because of how it breaks down in the body and absolutely no water before the test.

I plan on having a Greek yogurt and hoping I can get through it... I hate this test and always end up feeling sick the rest of the day.

  • I'll be getting my tdap on Thursday, a day short of 28 weeks. I'm also doing my GD test that day. Question: If you saw your doc the same day as your GD test, what order did things go in? Drink, appointment, blood draw...?

  • @KMD1106 I haven't done the test yet, but my office told me that I go see them first for my normal appointment, then go to the lab for an hour, then go back and get all my shots. Or maybe the shots are first and appointment second, I was too concentrated on remembering for a month that I see them before my GD test to remember what happens when I see them.

@KMD1106: That's exactly how my OB's office times it: they send you to the lab for the drink (and sometimes blood draw #1), then clock the hour while you have an appt., then back to the lab for the blood draw. Other places are more strict about having you sit in one place the whole time, though; they prefer if you aren't walking/moving around too much. Good luck Thursday!
  • I'm feeling like quite a lurker the past few days. With my phone being wonky and my job being super stressful I feel like I only have time to read quick.
@hp_momma I'm flying this Thursday to LA and I don't have anything from the dr but I'm barely showing.

    @ShadeofGreen816 thinking about your friend

I feel super confused about the GD test. I have a ob appt on the 28th at 830 ish, and I would only have a cup of coffee (with some creamer) plus water before the appt then straight to take the test. Should I be ok with that? I don't eat right after waking up, so I hadn't planned to eat before. I don't want to fail!

Im feeling super stressed with getting ready for vacation at work and getting subpoenaed tomorrow morning and having to testify in front of a father of my clients who I have nothing positive to say about, and has in the past vaguely threatened me. Makes me feel uncomfortable even though I know I'm safe.
I also haven't packed yet and I work 8:30-7 tomorrow and leave Thursday at 9am.

Sorry for the novel and run on sentences. I'm too lazy to fix it.
  • @Jens_Hoes I didn't have to fast, my doctor just told me no donuts or crazy sugar foods before. I just knew my stomach wouldn't handle that amount of sugar and nothing else so I had some cereal.

I got my dtap today at 27 weeks

I am pre-registering after our hospital tour in April.
  • @Jens_Hoes: SWE2 is right: no donuts, no juice, nothing crazy full of sugar/carbs. It sounds like you'll be fine with just your coffee and then eating afterward. I'd suggest: get through your crazy day tomorrow (you ARE in a safe place!), go visit LA and have a good weekend away, and when you get back and are planning your next week, give the office a call to double-check their recommendations for fasting/not-fasting/what exactly to eat/not-eat. You still have a week, plenty of time, try not to worry about it right now. Have a great trip!
  • I'm so glad y'all mentioned the Tdap. I'd forgotten all about it. Anyone tired of needles? Turns out I also forgot about preregistering with the hospital at 20 weeks like I was supposed to. Thank you all for having better memory than I do.

@ShadeofGreen816 - hope everything goes well for your friend!!!

  • Random here...

You know what?? I'm really starting to get tired of Facebook or people who share HORRIBLE  things on FB.!! Yesterday there was a video of a man being stabbed to death in mexico, today....today oh man. There was a video of idk what ethnicity she was and idc  but she was abusing her baby and when I say abuse I mean slapping over and over so damn hard and when I say baby I swear this baby was maybe or not even a month old.  Of course if I knew what was going on I would have spared myself but in the preview all u seen was a woman sitting on a couch(babu was so small u couldn't see it) it was in a different language so it only translated to god something. I literally cried for almost and hour you know that saying where when your so mad tour blood boils? That's how I felt as I seen what she does to the baby! I couldn't fly thru the screen and hold the baby or save it and it hurt and mad me angry I threw myself in bed and cried and loved on my 1 yr old who was napping.
Anyway...(I guess it was more like an aw rant? ) safe to say I will be deleting any people who share videos like that. It hurts why I  the world or HOW how could you hurt  a baby who looks to you as their qorld? They live u unconditionally and still want to be with you even if your hurting and abusing them . Demons I swear freaking evil people  who shouldn't exist. (Sorry long post)
  • @lulubemadness: There have been a few reports in my local news lately of people being arrested as child abusers and the horrible details of their crimes, and I seriously bawl over them as well. You aren't alone! Definitely delete/unfriend/stop following all that noise. Hopefully you'll feel better once you do.
  • At my last appointment at 24 and some change o was given the paperwork for the hospital, tdap info, and GD order. Haven't done anything with the hospital stuff yet but I think I might try and schedule something during spring break if possible, I'll be 29 weeks then. No idea if that's too early or now. I have my GD test in the morning and meet with my dr in the afternoon over spring break and I'll be 29+1 when that all happens. One of the nurses, who I don't usually talk to, gave me all of the info and told me that my GD test is fasting but I asked the other nurse if I could at least take my omeprazole because I'll be a mess the rest of the day if I don't and she said that's fine. I might see if I can have some cheerios too though because that much sugar in the morning will definitely make me sick!

Random...anyone else get so full but eat so little and then you feel almost sick to your stomach? Yeah that's me right now. Plus I think he's sitting a little higher than normal because my upper back/rib area is sore and uncomfortable. I'm just praying it's. Or another episode like a few weeks ago...

Yes, I can be hungry and sit down with a full plate of food, but I'm done after a few bites. I make myself eat it anyways because I know I'll just be hungry again in 20 minutes if I don't. It's a pain, though!

  • I dont know whats happened to the moms of multiples thread so ill just post here.

I went for our growth scan and gd test today... The babies were about the same from the beginning and then 13% discordant at my 24 week appointment and then today 17% discordant. Its making me nervous though they say they are otherwise perfect. Im not sure whether this is standard or not for twin pregnancies but they said they wanted to keep an eye on it so we're having another growth scan in two weeks and then if they hit the 20% mark (which my favorite us tech seemed to think they would since its steadily increasing and she said they typically become more discordant towards the end) we will have twice a week u/s. My dr got called out on an emergency so my exchange with the other ob was very short and although they felt like things are good, it is making me nervous bc i assume the reason to monitor that frequently would be incase they needed to come earlier than planned.

Glad yall mentioned tdap and preregistering... Ive done neither yet.
  • @kns1988 I definitely make sure to eat enough but if I eat too much I feel horrible and sick...it's a twisted thing this pregnancy deal! Hungry but can't eat because you feel too full!

  • @kns1988 those look heavenly! My sweets intake is so out of control - the last thing I need is another thing I crave! But I'll have to try one anyway. In the name of science.
  • @Jkp7749 that must be super stressful!! Hopefully they stay under 20%

Has anyone tried these new Hershey bars? I've only had the caramel one, but it's so freaking good! I want to go find the other two flavors now.

I really want to try the vanilla creme and they have a cookie crunch one out too...

  • @Jkp7749 I hope everything goes well. Thinking about you!
  • All of the GD tests I've ever taken (2 1-hours and 3 3-hours) have all been fasting but I was allowed water. When I go to the lab, the tech also verified that I fasted each time. If you are unsure, I'd check with your dr. Perhaps they go by different numbers/results depending on whether they make you fast or not.

  • @mdlorenz Thanks for the update! I'm sure your mind is going a mile a minute. 12 days sure is soon, but you've got this! I'll be thinking of you and sending lots of positive vibes.
  • @mdlorenz praying for you guys!
  • @mdlorenz i didnt realize you were the one doing it, you're plenty busy keeping those babies cooking and i did notice less and less responses too! Like pp said im sure your mind is going a mile a minute but sounds like your drs have been on top of things and like you're in good hands! Praying for you and your babies!!

Some places will have you fasting for your GD test, others will not but for any lab test, fasting does NOT mean no pills! Unless they are drawing blood for a specific medication, taking your pills with water is always allowed! Most doctors or nurses don't inform the patients of this because different areas have different protocols so I don't blame them, but for lab go ahead and take your meds with water!

As for feeling so full I'm going to be sick? Yup, feeling that hardcore for the last 2 weeks. It's terrible, I have to sleep sitting up lately. I have been trying to eat less grains and sometimes it helps.
  • @BabyMC517 @absbubbs

I have the feeling full thing going.  Baby girl was breech today with her head jammed in my stomach so I'm assuming that's it.  I remember feeling this way with my first pregnancy, but much more toward the end.  Soup has helped a lot, as well as eating very very slowly.

  • @skeetied Thank you for reminded me to put soup on my grocery list! I wanted to see if that would help!
  • @absbubbs Smoothies helped, too.  I think both of my children might be part Jamba Juice.

I just don't understand why? Why have the little angels if your going to do that, i understand some women get upset and frustrated and need breaks, like damn take a walk but if you just do that all the time or even at all  you were never ment to have a baby someone that loves u no matter what that's the horrible thing about it.  Sometimes I wish I or we as mothers who love our babies can take all those babies and love them  or make a change and stop all that horribleNess going on.

Ive been having that feeling alot with this pregnancy, like my stomach at the top right under my boobs is or feels so full and tight like after a thanksgiving meal. But I only take a couple bites and feels like I totally pigged out and need to puke.
  • @MDLorenz 12 days seems so soon. Wishing the best for you and your babies.

Turns out my hospital's preregistration only stays active one month so need to wait another month.

I can use all your positive thoughts and energy. My bp is starting to creep up, but luckily no proteins yet. I was already scheduled to see my MFM in 2 weeks but now my OB wants a second opinion on my bp sooner than that. I'm hoping to get in by the end of the week.

    11.2011 - DS1

    02.2013 - loss at 6 wks

    06.2014 - DS2

    10.2015 - loss at 12 wks

    03.2017 - DD

  • So glad the flying guidelines came up. I'll be flying at 34w. Thanks @rkstro2 for the advice on finding a hospital ahead of time just in case (fingers crossed it won't be necessary but better safe than sorry).

I was cramping all day so I decided to call out of work tomorrow. DW wants to take DD to the aquarium so it might just prove to be a good day to play hookie, so long as she doesn't mind stopping to rest every ten feet!
