I am so ready for this shift to be over. It was a long and taxing night and if I wasn't pregnant I'd go home and have a glass of wine before I sleep. Instead I'll pop my unisom when I get home and pretend the water I'll wash it down with is wine.
Okay this might be a silly question, but I am going to ask it anyway. DS is 3.5 and sleeps in a twin bed with rails. How do you know when they are old enough to not need those rails? DH wants to just remove them and see what happens. I am feeling a little more cautious.

I bet you are fine to remove at that age! I would test and see! My DD's rail broke around 3.5 and she did fine after. I think it's more of a comfort thing after about 3.

DS is almost 3.5 and I have never used rails. He's been in the twin bed since about 18 months because he'd climb out of the crib. The reason I don't use rails is that he jumps in his bed constantly and I thought he'd hurt himself more by falling on the rail rather than falling out of bed while sleeping. I put pillows on the floor in case he rolls off. He's rolled out a couple of times, but been ok. I think it would be ok. You could try the pool noodle trick or a body pillow to block him at first if you're nervous.
@kahlan82 Look at him when he's sleeping a few times and see where he positions himself. Mine like to use the rail as a support.
We stayed at a hotel this weekend and I thought DS1 (5) would be fine in a normal bed. He came out the first morning with a wicked black eye because he fell out of bed in the middle of the night and landed on his face.
I started coming down with something yesterday (thank you, sinus infection that will never end), so this weekend will be pretty low key. I woke up this morning, did yoga, and am now hard boiling eggs for the week. Later today we'll go to Lowe's to pick out carpet (want to replace bedroom carpets before Kait gets here), and then probably work on a sewing project. I'm in the middle of two quilts and recovering the POANG chair for the nursery.
Tomorrow I need to go for a run...I have a race next weekend that I've barely trained for, so I'm sure that'll be horrendous.
Wow a run is something I coukd never do now. I'm getting tired from food shopping these days lol.
@kahlan82 I was going to suggest the same thing as @LAMCH1980, based on a trick my friends used for their 3y/o. Stick a pool noodle under the sheet in place of the railing as a sort of "training wheel" version of the rail which is much softer.

Well, also...keep in mind I'm not actually pregnant. I have mad props for all you ladies that do the day to day while growing a tiny human(s). I'd be napping every second of the day.
Thanks for the suggestions. I have been feeling he is probably ready. I guess I am just not ready to let go. He turns sideways a lot but doesn't seem to be up against it. The pool noodle sounds like a good small step for me.

I've been painting an Ikea latt table for the girls for the playroom we are currently renovating to create. For now it will go in the kitchen bc DD wants to color all the time and doing that on the floor isn't ideal. My mom will be here next Saturday for a week bc DH is going on a ski trip and I need someone to do the morning daycare run...during the day she's going to make chair cushions for the table and also modify it to attach a paper roll underneath. The table top I painted in chalkboard paint. Yay.
My mom will also be making curtains for DD's big girl room and this baby's future bedroom as well and a shower curtain for DD's big girl bathroom while she's here. Her sewing skills cannot be underestimated. It's going to be awesome.
@delujm0 your mom visiting sounds similar to mine. She is always ready for 15 projects and somehow manages to get them all done...really well. My dad is going to stay a week extra while my mom returns home (they're visiting this coming Wednesday) and while he is helpful on the cleaning end of things, he's not necessarily a project man. For the 4 days my mom will be here she has sewing, baby room painting and Mexican food making on her list!

Ooo I didn't realize that. Oops You're still a wonder woman regardless. I've never done any kind of race!

LOL, no problem! My DH and I are adopting a baby girl, due in June. That's why I'm hanging out over here.
@JessyKV Solidarity for the soreness after falling down the stairs! good news is I'm 3 days out and feel back to normal. Hoping it's the same for you!!
I had my tooth extracted on Friday and I am so sick of soft foods. I desperately want to bite into a sandwich and some chips. My husband thinks I'm a big baby (maybe I am!) but being preggo and not eating what I want is so annoying. Also, it hurts a lot more than I expected and I hate taking meds while pregnant. Overall, I'm a wimp and I should just be grateful it was something so minor, but instead I'm feeling whiny, sorry.
I'm so excited for dinner tonight! I put a pot roast in the crock pot early this morning so it can cook on low all day. Mashed potatoes, green beans, gravy and rolls tonight. My tummy can't wait!
We bought a small deep freezer today! Our small freezer with our fridge wasn't cutting it anymore plus I'm hoping I'll be able to store some breastmilk eventually. I need a place for my liquid gold!! I am so excited that our tiny little apartment is closer to being ready for baby Chloe! There has been a lot of organizing, rearranging and Goodwill trips!
Dh has been gone almost a week and still has a few days before he is home. We have eaten like crap since he left. It's just such an ordeal to cook dinner especially when both children won't eat it. So I'm having mommy guilt. We went to the park for 2.5 hours this morning and I'm exhausted. So I doubt I will change my chicken nugget ways tonight.
Mom to Madison- 5 and Lillian 2....and now surprise baby #3!
@awoodruff27 I know the feeling. DH used to work a couple nights a week and would have dinner with SS 1 night a week, and DS had the WORST diet. I almost never cooked for myself. I would often just make myself a bag of steamer vegetables and some rice because I couldn't be bothered to cook something just for myself.
I'm seriously considering ordering in from the one restaurant in my parents' town for the second night in a row. Our else we are having scrambled eggs. I do not feel like cooking today.

Is his bed high up? Would he land on a carpet? Those are things I would look at while making the decision. With dd we didn't buy her a box spring so she's pretty low to the floor. I put our faux lamb skin rug under her side of the bed (she has a double, but doesn't sleep in the middle.) that way if she did fall out she would get too hurt. She never has fallen though!
@krex Good luck in your race next weekend! What race is it/where are you located?
I'm running the Disney Princess half next Sunday and hope it isn't super humid.
It's a trail run here in Indiana. Only a quarter marathon (little over a 10k), but on hiking trails in one of the state parks. I would love to do one of the Disney half marathons!! Good luck!!
I worked all day yesterday, wanted to take today easy... I got an email from BRU saying I had $15 in rewards to spend so I just got home from there... heads up: BRU is having up to 75% off their already reduced clearance prices... I got all this for our LO for only $17(after my rewards)!! I didn't pay more than $3.75/outfit and the shoes were only $2.50!! I *think* the sale ends tomorrow though so check it out if y'all have time today!!
@alm52386 I'm a ftm and clueless, is freezing breast milk the way to go?
I'm also a FTM but if you have a lot of extra then yes. Here are the storage guidelines... Also, I believe it is 6 months in a deep freezer and 3 months in a freezer connected to your fridge. So if you're making a ton of extra and aren't using it within 8 days then you would want to freeze it. Also, don't microwave or shake breastmilk
@alm52386 I'm a ftm and clueless, is freezing breast milk the way to go?
Fresh is best bc breastmilk changes to fit the baby's needs. For example, if baby gets exposed to a virus your body releases antibodies into the milk. Extra is frozen. Label the bags and take the oldest first so you dont expire based on the chart previously posted. At work I would pump for the next day (directly into the bottles he drank from, no bags). Any extra (including an extra pump session in tge morning) would go into bags and into the deep freezer. Edit to add: bags can hold like 8 oz but most breastfed babies will never drink that much in one sitting. I recommend only filling the bags with roughly the amount they drink in one setting. Otherwise you might end up dumping.
@mombod I agree with filling the bags with what they are drinking especially if they will be at daycare! it is way easier for providers this way! And thanks for adding what I forgot, like first in, first out!
@jennas312 freezing in bags is good. They are right about not microwaving. We did buy a Dr. Brown bottle warmer though. It holds medela bottles (we didn't use doctor browns) and heats the breast milk up quickly and safely. DH said it was one of his favorite baby items. Waiting for breast milk to heat up in a cup of warm water at 3 am with a screaming baby is not fun.

Anyone else not announce their pregnancy on social media?
We didn't with my first. It was so much fun to post an announcement after he was born and have all the "I didn't even know you were pregnant!" comments from people I don't see regularly. We did announce this time around (at like 15 weeks) because we wanted to experience both. I think for next baby I'll go back to not announcing again.
Check your carbon monoxide detectors, a sub from my school and her children were found unconscious earlier this week. The children recovered but she recently passed.

I haven't, but I still might. I have some friends who have recently suffered a loss or are currently struggling with infertility, so I'm having a hard time announcing.
