@clebl24 the first year my DH and I were dating when my birthday came around he asked me what I wanted and I said "nothing". So he got me nothing. No card, no treats, no flowers. Nothing. I was super upset. But I learned from that incident that he will literally take me at my word so I have to be really specific about expectations. Since then, a few weeks before every holiday, birthday, anniversary, etc. he will ask me exactly what I plan on doing for him so that he can reciprocate equally. Our anniversary was last week and even though we went out to bunch the day before to celebrate, he made sure to find out if I bought him a card to give him the day of (I had) so that he could make sure he got me one too. It's not the most romantic arrangement, but I haven't experienced the disappointment since and I've avoided a lot of resentment over the years. Maybe just let this one slide, but before the next holiday or event talk about what your expectations are.
@Kat81 what a jerk! There's no excuse for that. Some people really shouldn't be on the road during the day if they can't handle having to deal with the fact that they aren't the only ones on the road.
@livin541: Good for you for logging your gratitude statements! When I did it often, a long time ago, it definitely helped put me in a better frame of mind. Once you start taking note of some positive things, then you're more likely to notice even more around you, right?
@RainyDays86 glad to hear your appointment went well.
Stay hydrated ladies! I ended up in L&D overnight. I had major back pains and pain along my right side. It felt very familiar to my first pregnancy when I had a kidney infection. On our way to the hospital, I had all these flashbacks of hospital visits leading up to DS1's birth at 30 weeks. Luckily, urinalysis came back clean and they did lab work due to my history with pre-e, which also came back so clean. Turns out I was very dehydrated which led to some back pain in addition to RLP.
@mcvgal Good reminder! Whenever I have more pain, I seem to be able to trace it back to drinking less. I'm glad everything is OK, though, that must have been stressful for you.
@mcvgal glad to hear things are ok!! But so scary. That's a good reminder - I have been slacking on my water the last few days and definitely have had more RLP/BH/ and honestly just general fatigue/ickiness. (That's totally a medical term from this medical professional hah!)
DH just felt the baby kick for the first time! It was a hard one too. He was a little freaked out at first, but then he spent the next half hour waiting patiently for it to happen again.
Drinking milk and eating bread sometimes help me @RainyDays86. Otherwise check with your doc about what over the counter might work. I have GERD and take daily meds that are safe for pregnancy, maybe you can get a prescription if it's constantly bad. I hope it's short lived though!

@RainyDays86 Chemo reflux might be its own beast, but ThroatCoat tea (if you can stand drinking something warm) feels really good on an irritated throat. I think all of the herbs are pregnancy-safe but not sure how oncology would feel about them. Ranitidine gets used frequently in pregnancy if you want the less crunchy option.
@RainyDays86 Zantac. it is otc and on the preggo friendly list. I take a 150mg tabs twice a day. One in the am and one before bed. They are starting to not quite cut it so I have been adding tums as needed. I was on Nexium (rx) last time but so far it isn't super terrible with the zantac and tums.
ETA: Ranitidine is the generic name for zantac, it's usually a ton cheaper as a store brand
@mcvgal, I'm so glad to hear it was just dehydration! That must have been scary. Thanks for the reminder to drink up!
I am currently sitting at the lab doing my 3 hour glucose test...this is such a miserable process. But on the bright side, mother in law is finally leaving (after a cancelled flight due to snow). I need a mental break.
I'm with everyone who is feeling extra moody and just generally cranky. I hate it.
@RainyDays86 and @KMD1106 I have GERD as well and take omeprazole (generic for Prilosec) eveven y morning. I've been doing okay so far but last week I was a mess! I added a Zantac before certain meals that I knew would irritate me and if I didn't do that I took it at night. I think it was just a bad couple of days because I haven't had to add it since. Usually saltines and sprite work for me along with bread. I drink milk daily and thought it would help too but then I read an article that it actually can cause more acid which I thought was weird. I didn't look into it much more but thought I'd share. I'd have to find the article again...anyway hope you feel better soon! Acid reflux sucks!!
ETA: I couldn't find the article I saw the other day, but looked up some info. https://www.healthline.com/health/gerd/beverages#Overview1 gives a breakdown of what you should and shouldn't drink for GERD and acid reflux. Milk is listed as something that can help, but may cause issues later. It says to drink non-fat milk or plant based milks instead. https://www.healthline.com/health/gerd/dairy-and-acid-reflux#Overview1 discusses specifically milk and acid reflux and gives suggestions as well. Just thought I'd share

I have been seriously slacking! I read to get caught up, but won't even try to tag for everything because I am just that lazy.
@bacorrea - I have a Life Fitness T3 that I love, but am unfortunately having to sell We're moving soon, and there's no room for it in the new house. The only drawback is that it's heavy and doesn't fold up, but I think that also means it's sturdier.
@RainyDays86 - So glad to hear about the great appointment! Also, I agree that your new 'do = bad ass.
Re: newborn pictures- we got the digital package from the in-hospital photographer with DS and will likely do the same this time. I think it was around $180 or so, and they came out super cute. We also have a package from the same company that came with 4 photo shoots to use within DS's first 2 years. We did a 3 month, 6 month, and 1 year, and will do the last shoot this summer with both boys somewhere outdoors It turned out to be a huge ripoff, since it only included the sitting fee and not the actual photos....so we won't be signing up for that package again.
I'm cooking up baby boy #2, so no adorable headbands for me, but I think the top knot/turban style headbands are about the cutest things ever. It's probably a good thing we're not having a girl, as I would likely spend all of our money on the headbands. *This is a random google image, not any baby that I know* Also, sorry for the hugeness.

I am envious of all the mom's that have an in-hospital photography option. I didn't know that was a thing some places. At our hospital they take a photo of the baby, but it is a bit mugshot-esque. I love the photo of DS, but in a giggle at it and stick it in the baby book sort of way.
I'm a wreck this week. I really need to cry, but I am at work... Work is busy, I feel stressed, worried, guilty, a little angry, and just overwhelmed. Then I feel all emotional when anything good happens, like H getting me a Valentine gift or someone at work saying something nice to me, it makes we want to burst into tears because I need that right now.
I think I need a break, and I would even take a mental health day, but I've got to save everything I've got for maternity leave. I hate this new work project I'm doing, not so much the project, but the person I'm working with it on. It is just not going well and when I meet with my supervisor tomorrow I will tell her.
IDK, I just needed to vent and whine. I really hope everyone elses week is going better than mine!
ETA: Sleep has been rough and last night pretty much every single time I'd fall asleep I'd end up dreaming about this stupid work project and messing it up, so stressful. My only other dream was that I was a witch and being chased, ugh.
@nda_roxybabe at least the coworker is temporary! That's what I always had to tell myself when I had a rough time with a coworker. So what are you guys doing for swim suits next summer? I currently have a bikini but would prefer something that covers my stomach, and then there's the whole it's now a nipple cover thing...granted my boobs were already bursting out of the top before getting KU. Any brand suggestions for those well endowed? I'm going to try Target, but last year they didn't really have anything for big busted ladies.
@absbubbs last year I got a bikini top from Lane Bryant and then I got this great rash guard top and swim shorts from Lands End. Haha I'm such a Mom, but DD at 2.5 still tries to get to my boobs so I need to be covered.
@livin541 That's a great idea, to write down Gratitudes!
@kns1988 and others in the Moody camp: thanks for making me feel less crazy by not being alone! This pregnancy stuff has more to it than I realized!!
@mcvgal Sorry you had a scare! Glad everything is alright!
@nda_roxybabe Sorry about your sleep and work project. Can you go in the bathroom and just cry for a minute? When are you done with this project?
I'm in so much pain and about to go into a 12 hour shift I'm dreading, and then my dad and stepmom come to stay with us tomorrow for 5 days. Is there an animal that hibernates while it gestates? Can we start that?
@jayandaplus I think yes and yes. I meet with my supervisor tomorrow to discuss as they had asked me to do this project as they felt it could be streamlined and simplified and I'd be a good person to do that. I definitely have lots of changes and improvements. I think once we get going we can both do our own piece of it. If not, yes, I can learn to deal. I think I am just taking it hard now being hormonal and that I'm still learning and don't like to maek mistakes, but some are bound to happen.
@absbubbs haha, they hibernate for the winter. Maybe that coincides with when they're pregnant too?
haha I have no idea. I just remember watching the videos where they tag the bears while they hibernate and I feel like there was one where they did ultrasounds on the females too to see if they were pregnant.
ETA- I had to look it up. Black bears are in fact pregnant while they hibernate. Their heart rate actually increases with the pregnancy until they give birth, while still hibernating, and then it goes back down. Their body movements also pretty much disappear in order to not squish the new cubs. Can I be a black bear?
@jayandaplus@absbubbs@nda_roxybabe yes, bears hibernate while they're pregnant- the baby bear is born tiny tiny, and then it nurses and grows while momma bear is still in winter hibernation. When spring comes and momma bear is ready to go out and about, Cubs are big enough to wobble walk with them!
@nda_roxybabe hopefully your conversation with the supervisor will be productive! I'm feeling the same way about needing a break day! I'm a SAHM, so at least no terrible coworkers! I have a dentist appointment this afternoon (yuck!) and I'm thinking of using it as an excuse and going out to a coffee shop or something on my own afterwards to just have a moment to myself. Maybe target too. Maybe stay out until the girls are in bed and husband has had to do all of it on his own....
@Squirtgun & @nda_roxybabe: I truly believe in the power of the mental health day / time for yourself. As women, we multitask and take care of everything and everyone else before ourselves, which only lasts for so long. You need that time to recharge your batteries---for work, for home, for family. I get it, that you don't want to cut into your upcoming alloted time off, but a single day now can go miles toward you feeling more settled for another month, or at least the upcoming few weeks, to help get over the hump of current tasks. Seriously, we all need to block out a chunk of time for ourselves---and then not feel guilt about it, so we actually enjoy it!
Eeeee! Guys, I currently work for a county agency, but have taken a few state tests to try to get into their system (the salaries are better, the benefits are great, its closer to home than my current job). I just got a call for a position that STARTS out at 5 grand more than I currently make plus 7 years of raises! I'm trying not to get my hopes up (too late) because obviously I have no clue who else is up for the position. But any positive thoughts my way, I'd appreciate!!!
