@mrt I feel for your sister!! Definitely thinking of her. Keep us posted! The heart surgeons at Children's hospital have a special place with me. They did a lot of consulting with Mom's issues (who better to consult on difficult cases than the docs who work on baby hearts?!) Sending lots of good/positive thoughts her way
Thanks for all your positive thoughts. I'm so frustrated that she has to wait to really know what's going on, that can be the worst part. @michaela0704 thanks for the info. I googled HLHS and congenital heart defects in general, and it was one of the few times that googling was actually positive. It looks like a lot can be done as long as they know about it. She also switched doctors recently, so now she will deliver at a bigger hospital with the best NICU and a children's hospital across the street, I'm happy about that.
@mrt so glad it made you feel slightly better... obviously were all hoping it is nothing but I've had my eyes opened to how far medical care and capabilities for CHD has come. Our friends live in Maine but drive in/stay in Boston... not sure where she is but Boston's Childrens is amazing!!
Ok... so I've been trying to tell myself the past 2 weeks it's nothing but now that the appointment is this morning I'm freaking out...
I have a history of dysplastic nevi and am scared to death of skin cancer but I go annually for a skin check like a good little ex-tanner should. Found a new very dark abnormal mole on my leg and I'm having it evaluated this morning... hoping it isn't cancerous and we can deal with it quickly!
My daughter is 3 today so started her new class at daycare and drop off wasn't pretty. I knew it was going to be hard because she loves her previous teacher. Starting the day with your child freaking out and having to be pulled off you just sucks.

Well... they took it for pathology... not super shocked but just another thing to worry about for 7 - 10 days.
One weird thing, the dermatologist asked if I have pets after looking at it initially... we don't but I have no idea what she is thinking about this thing now!!
@FSUNole31 that's a horrible way to start the day. I'm sure she'll do great though!
@michaela0704 hugs girl! Last time I went to the derm they sent off a couple and I remember how nervous I was. Fingers crossed everything comes back just fine!
@mrt@huskermom14 thanks for the support! I don't care if it is just precancerous/a dysplastic nevus and need to have more tissue removed to have clear margins with stitches (I've had 2 of those before)... I just am hoping it isn't cancerous. It was super small, measured at 0.15cm x 0.25cm but she agreed it didn't look like my 'normal' at all...
@michaela0704 Sorry you're dealing with that! So stressful. I hope the results come back OK.
I'll never forget the moment I delivered my oldest and had been holding him for all of 2 minutes, soaking him in, when the delivering OB said "how long have you had this mole? That doesn't look right... you need to get that checked out ASAP". Ummmm huh!? Way to scare the crap out of a brand new mom. I spent days flooded with thoughts of "What if it is cancerous!? My precious baby who I just brought into the world won't have me!".
@Elyse1384 I appreciate it, I've unfortunately gotten pretty good at spotting things on myself... I have fair skin and grew up a competitive swimmer, swim coach, and lifeguard in the southeast (i.e., read pool rat) and also used tanning beds a good amount from ~ 16 to 20 years old. Just hoping that it is small and I'm good at noticing what isn't my normal, on top of annual skin checks, that it will turn out ok...
Thanks for the support ladies! @Wearmi1, he's a scientist and there's not a huge demand where we live, so the search will be tough.
I'm on his insurance and I know I can get Cobra and switch to my employer's coverage, but even thinking about it has me crying. And we were planning to buy a house this Spring... Pregnant women shouldn't have to deal with this. Too many tears.
@flyingncmama Ugh, I'm sorry you're dealing with this. It is so stressful and being pregnant makes it so much worse. My husband and I were in a similar situation when I was pregnant with my first. I really hope it all works out and he finds something faster than you guys think.
@flyingncmama We are dealing with unemployment right now, too. I feel your pain on the uncertainty of it all. I wish you and your H good luck when it comes to finding something new before he's out of this job!!
@flyingncmama I'm so sorry you guys are dealing with that. I hope he's able to find work before his time there is up so you aren't feeling so much stress when baby is due to arrive! Hugs .
I am working half day today and have my anatomy scan this afternoon! Hoping I can stay strong to team green when the temptation of knowing is staring me in the face!

@flyingncmama I am so sorry to see that you are dealing with that right now! Terrible! Were you the one who told us very early on that you suspected this might happen and you were frustrated with his complacency given the uncertainty of his situation?

@JAGinMI, no, this was a complete surprise. I woke up feeling a little better about things this morning. I'm just going to work diligently to help him find leads and hope for the best. I know my husband is feeling like he let us down, which is silly because it isn't his fault. It's just a shitty situation. Edited because I don't know what those words were.
@flyingncmama I am so sorry...that has to be frightening. Were you the one that was just relocated to MI? We're in MI too (lower Michigan)...what does your hubby do? PM me if you want...we're in the greater Lansing area but have family/friends in GR, kalamazoo and greater Detroit area!
@flyingncmama I'm so sorry to hear that! I hope that the job search goes well for him!
@ladylolly89 No, I just highlighted the intro thread and it acts as a bookmark. I don't use mobile often, but happy that @Stankonia2014 gave that lovely groups link tip.
I always thought companies were silly for putting out hot chocolate with coffee and tea. Because I mean, what adult drinks hot chocolate regularly? But this week I am that person. I have been pounding some hot chocolate in the afternoons. Who cares that it's 80 degrees outside! Give me sugar.
@tjvan I am on a hot chocolate kick, too! I've never liked it that much but it is suddenly delicious to me. Also, it was my consolation prize for missing out on hot buttered rum over the holidays
I do wish I could occasionally find decaf black tea at restaurants and coffee stands, but we can't have everything we want.
I went shopping for some maternity pants and a dress. When I was in the changing room I realized my shirt looked funny and there was two little stitch marks up by my neck. I had put my shirt on backwards. Hopefully everyone at my OBs office didn't notice as I had an appointment before my shopping trip
@devow27, I live in the GR area, so we'll be searching from Kalamazoo, to Muskegon, and Lansing. He's in research and drug design. He told me today that his boss is trying to get him into one of the other labs at their facility, which would be perfect! I won't hold my breath, but it would be nice if it worked out.
