Good luck today @Wearmi1. Hoping you get some answers and positive news.
@Elyse1384 I don't have PCOS, but had to have an ovarian cyst surgically removed that wouldn't go away on it's own 2 years ago so I understand the stress. Hoping that thing keeps shrinking so you don't have to worry about it.
We had our a/s just now. The tech seemed in a big hurry, which is fine, I guess, because it's the end of the day. He rushed through showing us the babies, which again was fine because what I was MOST interested in: "Did you see the sexes?"
He says (with a Russian accent and sounding extraordinarily bored), "I didn't see the penis, so they're probably girl."
And I'm like, "OK, um, thanks!"
I'm so frustrated because I've never heard a story like this, and this happened with DD, too! We went back at 30 weeks when my OB invented a reason for an u/s (which ended up being good because she was slightly small and I had to be induced). And they were still not confident.
With every single other person, it seems like the u/s tech is all, "It's a girl!!" and that's that.
I do have a midwife appointment next week, so I will ask what they think. But ugh. I have no idea what to tell people yet again because I've been happily spouting that we're going to find out what they are at this appointment.

@sls I'm sorry, but I definitely laughed at "I didn't see the penis, so they're probably girl"
Yeah, I kind of almost did too I get the results next week and honestly, I'm fine if everything looks fine and we don't even find out until they're born. But whyyyyyy is it so haaaaard for us??? Especially when there are Team Green slips???

Had my scan today and everything looked good! I was mostly relieved to find out that my placenta is front. and. center. and hence why I've barely felt any movement at all. Except for hard pounces to my cervix because the baby is already head down. And I managed to stay team green!
@sls I laughed too, but ugh, that does seem strange. My tech looked very closely at the crotch, and I mean like 12x zoomed in to get a really good look at it. There was no mistaking what she was looking at. An anatomy scan means you look at the entire anatomy, which includes sex organs. I would definitely talk to your midwife about what that was all about. I would be frustrated too!

Me: 34, DH: 38 ~ TTC since 2014 IUI #1-3 (Nov 2015, Feb 2016, May 2016) = BFNs IVF ER (July 2016) = 7 PGS normal embryos FET #1 (Sept 2016) = BFP! DD born 5/30/17 FET #2 (April 2019) = BFN FET #3 (July 2019) = BFP! DS born 3/27/20
Lots of scans today! Mine showed a healthy little one but also very aggressive fibroids. I knew I had the fibroids already but not that they would be such a pain (literally and figuratively) during my pregnancy. I'm now on monthly scans under the care of the MFM in addition to my check-ups with my OB. I was also told it's highly probable I'll be facing a c-section, which was really hard for me to hear but I'm grateful I'll have time to accept I may not get the birth I hoped for. I know it doesn't go that way for a lot of c-section mamas who wanted otherwise.
@sls I'm surprised to hear he was rushing as our u/s tech at the MFM's office took so much time to ensure she scanned both babies individually and didn't scan the same baby twice... they were moving like CRAZY!!! The appointment literally took almost 2 hours but the boys were moving so much so that was probably why... Also, DH wanted girls and I wanted boys... she scanned baby A first saying it was a girl immediately then did the major organs and then she did all of Baby B's major organs and finally said boy... then she went back to verify Baby A was a girl but NOPE he finally uncrossed his legs and showed us his goods, so she confirmed both were boys. FTR our u/s tech at 10w (different from the one who did the a/s) told us not to tell the doctor as she said she would get in trouble but asked if we wanted to know the sex if she could tell... she said it was ~ 90% accurate due to gestational age but Baby B was a boy - she was right!
@meilay sorry to hear about the fibroids and glad to see you have such a positive attitude regarding the change to your birth... it can be a hard thing to deal with, seriously!
@michaela0704 OK, now I'm pissed off all over again. He took half an hour to do the scan on two babies!! My midwife is going to get an earful since this was the recommended one on the form she gave us. There are multiple places in town for us to get scans, so I'm not going back there again. (To be fair, she said we could go anywhere, but I didn't care before this experience.)

We had our scan today at 19+1. Baby was measuring ahead at 11 ounces. Doc said 74th percentile for size. They were unable to get good shots of her heart, so I have to have another scan (oh darn) next month.
@sls, that's kind of disappointing, though his statement was kind of funny. Really though, absence of a penis does not indicate a girl, girl parts indicate a girl. I don't want to say too much here in case anyone team green doesn't want to know, but our tech showed us specific indications of a girl. I'm sure there's no need to worry, but I also don't think you'd be out of line in asking for another scan since he was in such a big rush. Good luck speaking to your midwife!
We had the MRI yesterday at Seattle children's. all parts of Adeline's brain are there. However her cerebellum is measuring several weeks behind in growth because of the fluid at the base of her brain. So we'll see a sub specialist next week to try and determine how this is going to affect her. They're also concerned about her developing hydrocephalus since the fluid at the base of her brain could cause too much pressure and move to another part of her brain. Lots of uncertainties at this point.
@sls sorry didn't mean to upset you... but when you say 30 minutes, I'm extremely surprised! Did the MFM review the images of the major organs? Did the MFM say everything looked good? I know you wanted to know the sex of the babies as well but... at a minimum I'd actually be somewhat concerned about the quality of the scan/review of the major organs. One positive though is that you will probably still have a lot of u/s from here on out so maybe at the next one push them to tell you the sex(es)! I saw a CNM with the twins and the overseeing OB was also the Perinatologist/MFM that I saw and his office did all of my u/s... but I did still have a lot of them, esp. towards the end. Do you know if yours are Mo/Mo Mo/Di or Di/Di?
@Wearmi1 sounds like some good news regarding parts of her brain and some not-so-great news about fluid... continued thoughts and prayers for Adeline! (extra prayers for peace for you during these stressful times)
@Wearmi1 Sending lots of positive thoughts and prayers your way for Adeline! I hope you get more answers from the sub specialist soon.
@sls Wow 30 minutes. Yeah not to add fuel to the fire, but my scan also took about an hour for 1 baby. I would say it was around that long for my prior two singleton pregnancies as well. Definitely speak to your OB about that! Crazy...

They're di/di, so I'm mostly not worried (with some concerted effort on my part, tbh).
Thing is, u/s techs are not allowed by law here to disclose anything during any ultrasounds unless they're a doctor. There's a big sign hanging over the bed saying that, plus, "Your doctor will get the results in 3-5 days." (!!) However, all the techs usually tell the sex and show the babies on screen--which he did, he just was super rushed about it. Technically, he didn't have to tell me anything, but this was my second u/s w/ the twins and I had three with DD, and NONE of the techs blew me off like that. So, I'm more pissed than worried. Maybe that's not fair of me, but meh. Still. *I* think it was rude.

@sls I would not be satisfied with "lack of penis=girls". The are actual parts that identify girls that can be seen on the ultrasound. In addition, the sex organs are a part of the anatomy, although maybe not as critical as other organs, I would think they would want to at least check to be sure those are developing appropriately.
@Wearmi1 I hope that seeing the specialist is helpful.
Thanks ladies! It's comforting to know all the parts of her brain are there. There was some concern about some small part being missing since they couldn't see it via ultrasound because of the fluid at the base of her brain. She's going to have some issues we just don't know to what extent yet. Hopefully our appointment next Thursday at Seattle Children's will give us a bit of a picture about what those challenges maybe be based on the children this doctor sees everyday there with similar or identical issues that Adeline has. I'm just trying to stay positive and already know that it's ok if she needs some kind of special therapy for fine motor skills or extra help in school.
Anatomy scan went well. It took about 30-35 min. Baby girl was feisty punching and kicking when the technician was poking me to get a good 3D. It didn't work out because she had her hand over her face. We got some great 2D pics including of her sucking her thumb!! I learned I had an anterior placenta. I figured that! It was a great experience.
We had our anatomy scan this morning. We are having boy #2! The ultrasound tech noted a dilation of one kidney, and an extra heart muscle (I'm not sure the exact name/term). The doctor said she wasn't concerned about either one. She said the kidney was more common with boys and was still in a range that is nothing to worry about. She also wasn't worried about the heart. Of course we are worried though. We had the quad screen done, so we will see what those results say in a week or so.

@sls I'm afraid of that same thing since my MW is sending me to the high-risk docs to get my anatomy scan.
I'm also not thrilled that they're calling me AMA and saying I have to meet with the genetic counselor before the scan.
