We want to do a dinosaur theme now that we know it's a boy. I'm having a hard time finding anything really online. We went to babies R Us earlier and there was nothing there too.
Hobby Lobby has some really cute dinosaur themed kids room decorations!
@megk626@gmail.com We have that same crib! How did you get the mattress up on the higher setting? We never did take the time to figure it out with DS but i would love to have it that way for a while with this one!!
@wifeinraleigh28 thanks! I have Prime and saw those two but they don't sell anything individually. I don't use bumpers or comforters so it seemed like a waste to go that route. There are some cute crib sheets and things on Etsy but definitely expensive.

@jennas312 I ended up getting everything that matched the set we bought, including the bumper and rail cover. My plan is to not use either one until my baby is a little bit older and can stand up in the crib, so closer to a year most likely. And by then I'll want some of that extra padding in there. Obviously when she's young I'll keep all of that out for safety reasons.

@jennas312 It's kid-dependent. I never used them, and the furniture was fine for DS1. DS2 has chewed the crap out of it. There are tooth marks everywhere; honestly I'm not even sure the guards would have helped....
Does anyone plan on getting crib rail guards? Not a bumper, but the guard for the top part. I was just wondering how practical it was.
We had to get one when ds started jumping up and down like his crib like it was a trampoline. He'd whack his chin on it! He also chewed up the rails like a little beaver! I'd recommend it, but you don't need them right away.

What kind did you get? I only saw cream color at BRU.
@Jenna312, we have cordless shades from Home Depot throughout our house and love them. The nursery bedding set I bought last time came with a flat valance and I was able to cut it in half and hang half in the nursery half in the playroom. I literally just velcro'd it to the top of the shades to avoid the need for a rod or anything, it was a cute accent and helped tie the rooms together. You could do the same with any coordinating fabric if your set doesn't come with a valance/curtain.
@jennas312 The bedding set we ordered has custom curtains to match and we chose the black out curtain option (for day time naps). I might also hang something sheer behind them for when we want to let a little light in!

What kind of window treatments is everyone using in nursery and where did you purchase from? I was thinking cordless blinds, or maybe a shade.
We have cordless blinds (Levolor) that we love. I made curtains from fabric I bought to go with them, but the curtains don't actually do anything except hang there for looks.
Ok, finally made a decision on what to put above the crib (I currently have a map wall art from Target that is way too small for the space). Etsy is the best thing ever!
@ellie111227 this looks awesome! How did you know where to start? The first time I've seen any mountain theme/ murals was on this board. I am not the best DIYer, but this looks manageable.
I am at a complete stand still right now. I've emptied the room out and it is just sitting there begging to be worked on. This is my second, and I promised myself I would put just as much effort into this nursery as I did for my first DS, but the room remains empty:-(
I live in a tudor home, which has a lot of dark walnut throughout (molding, doors, radiator covers). I had my heart set on doing a grey crib and dresser, however I'm wondering how that will look against all of the brown. I've attached a pic of the room, and would love your thoughts. I'd like to make it clean and upbeat (so ignore the current state), however don't want it to clash with what is permanent.
Option 1) Grey
Option 2) White and dark brown
It's ridiculous that I can't even figure out what color furniture I want at this point. Any advice would be appreciated!!
@MotherofDragons It's still in process. I ended up having to do three coats of paint on the trim, so that took forever, and I can only really work on it during naptimes. My mom is coming to help me one day next week, so I am hoping to get a lot done then. I have a coat of paint the mountains though, and they look pretty good so far. I still need to touch them up, paint the rest of the room, and fill in the blank spaces that will be left when i take the tape off between the rows of mountains. I'll post a picture when it is done! I'm still a little nervous about it, but I think it is going to come out looking good. Let me know if you decide to do it!
@onaed I looked at some examples on pinterest and then just started taping. I adjusted the tape a bunch of times until I thought it looked balanced. I did see a trick on a tutorial to run a damp rag over the tape to help it stick better. I'm not sure if that will really do anything, but it seemed worth trying. I'm always more of one to just start doing something than to research a ton, so basically looked at pictures, skimmed one tutorial article, and tried it. We'll see. Maybe you guys can learn from whatever mistakes I still find out I am missing lol.
Sorry I didn't see you guys tagged me until now. I'm always on a tablet so I only get notifications if I happen to be online at the time.
Eta @onaed, I like the bottom furniture. I think it would look awesome with mahogany accents other places!
@wifeinraleigh28 Thank you! We ordered from a local baby furniture store. 12 weeks is what they said - it could come sooner I suppose. We have painting to do still and new carpet to get laid down, so we have some things to do before it comes anyway.
@wifeinraleigh28 I do too! The place we ordered from is just down the street from my parent's house. We have been driving by it my whole life, pretty cool to be able to order from there
I FINALLY got around to putting together a mood board to help me corral my thoughts on the nursery. Everything that's on here I already have...thoughts on anything I'm missing for decoration? I want to buy a gold mirror still, so that isn't on the board.

@onaed if it makes you feel any better I'm at a complete standstill and the room isn't even empty yet. I'm so indecisive.
