@JCPSand2B My mom swears I didn't have a name for the first two weeks. My name was "Baby Girl Lastname" when I left the birthing center and went home. I kinda believe her because I saw my original birth certificate and my birth wasn't filed with the county until about two months later... It was the 80's, you could get away with such things back then.

I love Saylor for a girl! I wanted this name for my daughter but hubby wasn't on board. He likes classic names like Sarah. My middle name is Lynn so we went with Saralyn.
We have Holden and Saralyn and I want something that goes well with both of those names. Thinking Weston for a boy or Caroline for girl. However, hubby doesn't love Caroline. I can't come up with any other girl names that I think go well with Saralyn. Any suggestions????
Hi guys! I'm new to this board so I hope it's ok if I barge in with a question! We're thinking of the name Jack, after someone important to us. However, Jack has been in the the top 10 for the past 15 years or more. I haven't spent much time around kids lately (FTM!), so I was wondering if people who do spend lots of time around kids know if there are Jacks everywhere?
traceet Weston is such a cool name! I love the name Paige. It's quite different than Saralyn, but the long/short dichotomy is kind of nice?
@CanadianChris My husband and I easily agreed on a girl's name, but we're having a boy, and our overlap is like 3 names so far. And that was a struggle.
@Knottie1452987120 I've known a handful of little Jacks but mostly just Jacksons - but sometimes Jacksons get the nn Jack so that's something to think about too.
H & I: Both 28 Married: June 2015 TTC #1: June 2016 BFP: 11-24-16 ~ EDD 8-9-17 IT'S A BOY!
@Knottie1452987120 I've only met one Jack since having my first child last year (it was my boss's son). I think it's an adorable name and I like that you have a meaningful reason to use it.
Im struggling with a middle name for my baby girl. Both of our girls' first names are just names that either me or DH loved. My oldest DD shares one of my middle names and I'd really like this baby girl to have a middle name with some meaning too. Unfortunately, we aren't fond of any of the female names on either sides of our family so far. I guess it's not so bad to just pick a name but I want it to feel a bit more special.
@middy411 That's great, thank you! And I totally understand about wanting part of the name to have meaning. My grandmother's name was Gladys, and we were excited to use that as a girl's middle name, but it doesn't work as well for a boy. (Though after all the trouble we've had coming up with a boy's name, we've considered it. Haha.)
I was actually super sure on names from the get go. It was Isabelle Naomi (Naomi is a family name) for a girl, which she is and if it was a boy he would have been named Asher!
I cannot make up my mind and DH says all he wants for Father's Day is for me to pick a name. 8 honestly can't. @Knottie1452987120, I love the name Jack. That would probably be the name I'd pick for this baby if it had been a boy
@OTmom3 we haven't picked a name yet either. I have my #1 for a girl but if we have a boy, still no clue! I have a list of boy names I can tolerate but nothing I love. Good luck making up your mind.

We have our top three and have decided that once we meet her, we will choose. Not telling anyone, though DH almost slipped last night at dinner with his parents. I gave him such a look, he shut up real quick!
TW: 1 infant loss 8/17: Our daughter was born 8/18: Our daughter kicked open heart surgery ass 2/19: We lost our son to Prader-Willi/Paradoxical Vocal Cord/ Noonans at 6wks old 4/26/2020: EDD for baby #3!!!
DH has no opinion. We have a list of about 10 but nothing sticking out. I too want to meet her first but want to narrow it down. DH just says, "yeah it's ok" to every single one! He's no help.
DH and I finally agreed (he says 98% certainty) on a first name. So we've been talking middle names and nothing sticks out. I've proposed some names I think are beautiful and he hates them all. One he actually proposed is a name that I like but I don't think the styles of the names really go together. So I'm feeling a bit frustrated with 2 months or less to go. This is just how DH is though... whether it was wedding planning or decorating our new home, he never proposes anything but vetoes everything I propose. At least with a wedding and decor I had a sense of his style so could strategically propose things I thought had high odds of getting his stamp of approval, but this name thing is insane. Odds are currently high that in my post-birth haze I'll just be like, "Just fucking pick something," and he'll get his choice whether I really like it or not. At least it's just the middle name!
https://www.ssa.gov/oact/babynames/ Even if you don't care how popular your name choice is you still should just check it against the list. Don't be like a HS friend of mine who named both her children a top choice for their birth year and then complain all the time on FB that you thought you picked unique names.

I have LO first name picked out, but the middle name is giving me a hard time. I have it narrowed down to 3 choices and will decide when I meet him. @Mango517 thanks for sharing the link! @DeansGirl14 that's what my parents did with my middle name! My mom literally just said "we are going with this! Write it down!"
Do you guys think Madeline sounds too similar to Natalie when you said it out loud? DH thinks it does and might be confusing if yelling it for a kid to like come downstairs or something.
@bumpybump I have a hard time with boys names. This time we know it's a girl and my problem is I like a lot of girl names but can't decide which is the right one.
@OTmom3 I love the name Madeline - that was going to be our girl name but this one is a Boy. I do see his point, there is some potential for confusion BUT I wouldn't let that deter me completely if I was totally in love with the name. Besides, when you are REALLY yelling for them you could use their middle names too!
@Kaityrj, true lol! I also call my daughter "Nat" typically instead of Natalie. The only thing I don't love about Madeline is how popular the nickname "Madi" is. I'm basically between that name and Audrey (my grandma's name)
@OTmom3 I don't think those names sound close enough to be confusing at all!
We have have our first names picked out, if it's a girl it's Clementine, and for a boy Miles. My husband wants Miles River which sounds too much like a place I think.
@JDBtwinmama, I never thought they did either and then my husband started yelling them both out loud and made them sound a little similar. Nothing too crazy but possibly a little confusing. I think he just wants to go with Audrey anyway I love both of your names. I've always said I've regretted naming my cat Milo because I love the names Miles and Milo for a kid too
@JDBtwinmama, I'm having a really hard time deciding between the two! I probably should just go with Audrey for my grandma. She's like a mom to me and hasn't been in the best of health lately
That's a beautiful reason to name your child Audrey. I'm sorry she hasn't been in the best of health, I bet it would make her really happy @OTmom3 my son James is named after my dad who passed when I was young, and every day it reminds me of my dad and what a wonderful man he was. So it's nice to have a name that's connected to someone!
@JDBtwinmama I love Clementine! But I'd want people to pronounce it the french way - "Clemen-teen" and I just don't see that happening here it's so pretty though.
I'm 90% sure we are going with Benjamin. I am So regretting telling (certain people) the name before he is here. I mentioned here before that the initials would be B.J. and when DH's friend and SIL realized that they were both like oh no ew don't name him Benjamin then. Ugh I don't know what to do now - stop telling people or when people ask if it's still Benjamin say we don't know? (When we do we just don't want their opinion?)
@kaityrj BJ is such a common nickname I'm surprised people have any issue with it. Like I get it but whatever. Stop telling people, tell them you haven decided and once baby is born they'll bite their tongues!
@Kaityrj, true lol! I also call my daughter "Nat" typically instead of Natalie. The only thing I don't love about Madeline is how popular the nickname "Madi" is. I'm basically between that name and Audrey (my grandma's name)
We pretty much have the EXACT same naming style. Our first daughter is Natalie and we call her Nat a lot. Madeline was on my list too for this one but DH vetoed. And Audrey is also on my list!!! Love ALL your ideas. I have a list of about 10 we are trying to narrow down.
@belmont1785, great names! Nora was another name we had on our list originally, and will likely be the middle name if we choose Audrey. I've always liked the name Ava too. And my sister's name is Maci
