There is nothing worse than the office microwave, theres always one person who brings the smelliest things! Ours is a man who makes scrambled eggs for his breakfast in the office microwave, literally makes me want to throw up & in the first 4 months actually made me throw up!
Aww, poor kiddo. That's heartbreaking. You should not have to worry about bullying when you're practically still a baby. I wonder what's going on in that little girl's home that she feels driven to behave that way so young. Poor thing. When you're 5, life should NOT be that hard. Ack. I'm having all the feels about this.
I've had a couple of failures with the instant pot, but most things turn out wonderful. We do a lot of chicken broth for soup. Finish off a Costco rotisserie chicken, cover the carcass with water, instant pot it for a couple hours, it makes awesome chicken broth. We never have to buy broth for soup anymore. And +1 on the awesome easy-peel hard boiled eggs. Theyre the best!
That poor little girl! That mom should be ashamed of herself - it doesn't matter how much they cost. You need to replace them and if I was in her shoes my kid would be delivering a sincere apology along with it! Kids learn from your example, and she needs to do better in this case.
Ugh the same coworker who's been heating up fish in the microwave, has now decided to heat up some other very stinky unidentifiable casserole today. I had to go to my manager and ask for help dealing with this, but when my manager confronted my coworker, they denied ever heating up fish at all. -.-
I mean, thought that was common adult knowledge, right? If it's too smelly eat it at home.
Bullying is one of the things that scares me the most as a parent. Whether my children are the bullies or the ones getting bullied, it's awful either way and while I know H and I will do our best in raising them, you just never know how what will happen and yeah.... I'm scared shitless.
that glasses story broke my heart.

@PerraSucia, I do the hard boiled eggs in the pressure cooker- no idea on a slow cooker. These are super quick and easy to peel.
For the girl with glasses. I have been told that schools may have some type of insurance coverage to help with costs like these. Someone told me that their insurance was able to help cover a deductible for a child who broke their arm on the playground. I would ask the school if there is any help for money compensation for the glasses. So sad for the child and needs to be escalated to the principle. Not acceptable!
That glasses story is awful. i have to say, when your kid isn't in glasses you don't know how expensive they can be. I would be mortified if that was my kid. The school should be backing her up since it was a known issue. That mother should be so mad at her child!

The bullying and incident with the glasses is truly horrible. Being bullied that way in kindergarten? So sad. Isn't there someone who should have been watching these children during recess though? I know the adult(s) would have a lot of kids to pay attention to but it seems like they should notice something like this going on and stop/report it that way the dick mom couldn't use "differing stories" as an excuse not to be responsible and pay for what her kid destroyed.
Breastfeeding class is off to a strange start. The instructor has been very frustrated about projector issues for the last half hour and just ran out of the room screaming "I need to make a phone call!" Update to follow.
Update: That was her polite way of excusing herself to go throw up in the hallway. Class is going to be rescheduled. Fun stuff.
Those pictures are so incredibly sweet!!! That story makes me so mad! How can someone so young be so mean? Because they're obviously learning that behavior at home. The pup saga continued last night. H was at work last night and I had just settled in bed trying to go to sleep when I heard something weird. I turned on the light and the pup is on the floor vomiting. He kept doing it and it scared the daylights out of me! I was sitting on the floor next to him crying until it stopped. It was late so I let him sleep in the bed with me. Then he started moving around at 2:45 so I got up to let him potty. I hadn't gotten much sleep so I put him in his crate for the rest of the night. I was so exhausted today! My happiness for today - our travel system got delivered!!!!
@PerraSucia I'm raging for her. Please please encourage her to march down there and fight. I'm sure the teacher or administrator would sit in in a meeting where she can describe exactly what you did here. At least the school can.
Yeah @PerraSucia the people who came to explain the situation were talking norovirus. What a wonderful first visit to my birth hospital. At least I had time to do some laundry!
@Xstatic3333 Ughhhh! You must be straight up bathing in sanitizer right now. I've had norovirus while not KU and it ranks up there as the sickest I've ever felt. Sending strong immune vibes your way!
@Xstatic3333 Well that's just fantastic! Any sort of pregnancy class teacher should know better than to come in sick! Your students are the most vulnerable to whatever ick you have.
Thanks @lemieuxk and @WinchesterGirl. I'm not one to worry too too much about this sort of thing. I figure hospitals are nasty and any germ could have been on any doorknob. I'm more annoyed that I had to leave the house after work, and that now I'll have to do it again!
@Xstatic3333 i hear you on the having to leave the house after coming in from work! That is not cool at all! Once im in, i really begrudge going out again!
Speaking of the virgin Mary, my in-laws do a live nativity scene play with all the nieces/nephews at Christmas every year. Guess who she asked to play Mary?
Last day in the office! I'll be out just after lunch! (part time hours are up for the year, will be back in January) Kiddo will still be in daycare 3 days a week. I won't know what to do with myself! Oh, right, prepare for the new baby which I have done very little with....eek!
Heard back from the hospital about rescheduling the breastfeeding class. I'll have to go on January 17 now, when I'm good and huge. That's fine. What was annoying was that the chatty nurse who was doing the scheduling said, "That was so weird! I really hope I don't get sick! Lots more people here seem to have the same bug!" You hope you don't get sick? You? Not the room full of pregnant people? Blech. Like I said, I'm really not a germaphobe, but this may be testing me a bit.
@xstatic3333 The worst part is, she HAD to have known something was brewing, why would you ever go into a room full of pregnant people?! I have a standard cold and I felt it coming on for days. If she ralphed in the hallway, she had to be feeling awful for at least a couple of hours. That's super annoying!
So this is a totally first world problem - but my shower hosts requested that all guests wear only certain colors to the shower on the invitation! I think that is kind of a rude thing to ask and I hate anything that seems demanding of guests at all... But I can't really be upset about it because they are throwing me a super nice shower. I just wish they had run that by me first - because there are certain people (in my family) who were invited who I know gave a big eye roll and will probably be all snarky about it behind my back. Ugh!
@MissMerciBeaucoup yeah, I think that would have rubbed me the wrong way too. Do you know why they care that people dress in certain colors? Hopefully nobody would assume or "blame" it on you. I hope nobody gets overly bent out of shape over it, but I probably would have rolled my eyes at it too lol
@kswiger06 it was one of my girlfriends ideas to make the whole event look prettier and to stay with the theme (!) She loves things to be just so, flower arrangements, tablecloths, etc. (which hey, I do too, but you can take it a little too far) and I think wants the whole thing to look great in photos. She is well off and maybe a little removed from reality sometimes. And while totally thoughtful usually, I don't think she realizes how this could come off sounding to others - I think she thought people would think it was fun (because to her it would be fun). But to me it sounds demanding, and rude, and what if people don't have anything to wear in white or grey?
@MissMerciBeaucoup yea, I would have rolled my eyes HARD at that. But you can't change it now. Do YOU have something white or grey to wear? Or are you required to wear a coordinating color? ;-P
@Gretchypoo it is really weird but I just ordered a dress for my shower a couple days ago (before I found out about this) and it is white with dark grey trim - seriously! So hopefully it fits/is cute and it will be perf!
thanks @kswiger06 we shall see - but I'll post pics most definitely and you guys can let me know what you think. However if I could not have my picture taken for the rest of this pregnancy that would be fine by me!!
Why are newborn photography sessions so expensive and why don't some photographers let you buy individual digital files?! I feel like it could end up costing a small fortune by the time you are done
