In less I'm glad I don't live near this person who works in health and doesn't think about other people news. Look at how cute my H is preparing for a bday party in 2 months.
I'm chill with an opinion from a single person exactly opposite the profession's recommendations, but I would love to see a valid study on the effects of 1 weekly serving of alcohol on a fetus with no confounding presence of hard drug abuse in the mother or post-birth environments with drug use.
So, two weeks ago I announced my pregnancy to my boss and today they called to inform me that my title change (which happened 5 months ago) means my position has been switched from salaried to hourly.
@MrsDramaK I'd probably be letting them know I will check with my lawyer on whether or not they should have included that information at the time of the title change, especially since they haven't provided you with anything in writing.
@MrsDramaK Is the new position on a managerial level? I think I heard that there is a law/statute where employees on a managerial level are now exempt from overtime pay and are salaried. Whereas employees who aren't on that level are Not Exempt from overtime and are switched to Hourly.
@MrsDramaK yes, that seems very suspect. Even if you were to talk to a lawyer though, there's not much they can do, because the burden of proof will be on you to prove that they did this because of your pregnancy. UGH. I'm still very mad about what they did to me once they found out I was pregnant.
RE: Flu shots...I'm so glad and relieved that the majority of you fine ladies understand the importance of getting the flu shot!! I swear, I'm so sick of listening to idiots IRL try to tell me they got the flu from the flu shot.
@MrsDramaK A lawyer can definitely help. More advice: My sassy a$$ would probably tell my bosses that in that case I'd like to keep my old title until next summer.
@mrsdramak Definitely seems suspect.... you could just say your consulting an attorney and see what happens. Like "You know, this doesn't seem right to me, I'm going to have my attorney take a look at this." and see how your boss reacts. That may be enough for him to change his tune.
I'm seriously considering telling my boss I don't feel well and leaving early. I've been feeling crappy all day I just don't usually leave this early. Sigh... decisions
Thanks everyone for your input. My official title is Revenue Cycle Manager, I am sure it partly relates to the DOL law that is going into effect December 1st, but I am the only one of the 4 managers they've changed. They said we'd discuss it in further detail Monday, so depending on the details they provide I will see how to proceed.
@MrsDramaK I may be wrong but I am pretty sure they don't have to make you hourly unless your salary exceeds a threshold and they want to offer you overtime. We have not switched our salaried employees to hourly. My biggest concern would be a potential loss of benefits or reduction in hours. The fact that you are the only one out of four managers that has been told this would make me suspicious. I hope everything works out!
@MrsDramaK I do NOT advice telling your boss that you will be consulting a lawyer. They will take that as a threat and retaliate against you for "hostility." If you're going to consult a lawyer, go ahead and do it, but don't give anyone a heads up. Trust me, HR knows how to play the game.
I bought some pumpkin cookies with white chocolate chunks. I ate three huge ones. I will be buying more. They have riboflavin and folic acid. That makes them a health food in my book.
Hubby is out playing D&D with friends tonight... I get to lay on the couch and watch whatever movie I want on Netflix. And, I don't have to cook dinner. Win, win, win!
Since we were just recently talking about costume ideas, my son told me today that since he is always told he looks like Harry potter, that that is who he wants to dress up as for Halloween lol... also my husband has been weird and snappy lately and I just realized he is very often "snarky" so I'm sure if he were a girl he would fit in here easily.
I just got done watching my hottypants shirtless husband put together our baby crib. There was something so sweet and sentimentally sexy about the whole thing.
I'm exhausted. Our chili night went so so so well. It was so fun and the food was delicious. Aaaaaand we found out sex of the baby with our friends! It was perfect! I'm just going to AW this. It wasn't the actual moment but my girls did a good job acting it out .

Also, I'm a terrible traveler. Work sends me to a big city two states away (hello, they even have an IKEA!!!) with a pretty generous food budget, reimbursable rides, etc. ...So I grab a cheap sandwich and hide in my hotel room. Lame! But I'm okay with it because big cities scare me to death now. I have officially become my grandmother.
I knew people would get their backs up about this and wanted to share my opinion, since I know it is not the majority. I clearly stated it was my opinion. Getting a flu shot is a personal choice and I am very aware of my actions while unvaccinated and take every precaution possible while in the hospital even though I don't have patient contact. Oh and I am educated, 8 years, though that should make no difference. Vaccination rates are about 50% for Healthcare workers here, just fyi. Never assume everyone is vaccinated and be sure to use your hand sanitizer and don't touch your face in public places! Again guys, my opinion... you can have yours...I can have mine! I didn't come down on those that said they were drinking in pregnancy, even though there is research that shows effects of that, and im sure a few of you smoke even though you know it's bad for you and everyone around you... so ya... ok rant done! I don't usually pipe up in here because I know of the backlash, but I took the risk this time!
I just wanted to touch on this. We have discussions with different opinions on here quite often. If you contributed more than once or twice you would know this. If you would like to become a part of our wonderful community, please do so, but try being productive and supportive, not just coming in here to tell us all how dumb you think we are. Which is totally how I read your few posts.
@Spicyweiner I am very aware of how the group works because I have read almost everything from the beginning, even though I don't contribute! I can't help that you interpret my words as such when I definitely don't intend to come across like that. I'm sure the impression you give off in my interpretation isn't actually how you are either, and that's okay!
