@canavara I have the same dresser and just put the changing pad on top. I can see an older baby wiggling/sliding it around but it's not like you would ever leave a baby unattended on top of the dresser.
@canavara they have those no-slip pads you could put underneath just in case, or drill a strap into the back of the dresser, OR you could put a few heavy beads of hot glue on the bottom (my favorite trick to make rugs non-slip)
I was telling my fiancee "yeah I asked the Internet and they all say this box thing isn't necessary."
And he was like, "I didn't want to make it because it's necessary. I just wanted to make it for aesthetic reasons." I feel like he's explained this to me already and I forgot because... pregnancy brain. Go figure. I still don't understand building a box to surround a changing pad being an aesthetic priority in a nursery but I guess I've done weirder things nesting.
Totally stalking your posts today @adorebella but OMG! I love the whole thing but the compass on the light/ceiling has to be my favorite detail! So creative!
@emtimme Haha thank you! I'm going on a posting frenzy today, I feel like I went off the deep end with nesting/work/making sure my life isn't falling apart and I finally feel like I can come up for air. And that compass idea 100% came from pinterest!
@adorebella that rug is awesome in the space, very eye catching. I didn't even notice the compass till the others pointed it out- I love that too! nice job
Thanks for the room love, ladies! I've been sitting in there all the time just drinking it in.
@kelseyh62 It's from an Etsy seller LEVinyl. They had great customer service because initially I had just gotten a decal but it wouldn't stick to the semi-gloss paint. When I contacted them they agreed to send me the decal wood-mounted and only charged the difference between the two items. Woot!
@Knottie1452445632 Me! Well me kinda. My husband has been working on slowly painting the nursery for the last 4 weeks. We're doing an Explorer theme and he insisted on adding longitude and latitude lines to the walls.
He's an engineer so all the lines need to be the correct degree apart and measured exactly and it's taking forever! I love him but I just want to get in there and organize things.
@Knottie1443924966 we haven't started anything yet. We've had a houseguest since Labor Day staying in our spare room (which will become DD1's "big girl room") so everything is on hold until he's gone (Nov. 15th). Hoping I still have the energy after the Holidays!
Wow all of these are so nice. has anyone else just been lurking but has yet to start on their nursery?
Pretty much! We did finally paint last week, but the rest of the room is nowhere near put together. We ordered a dresser that's now back ordered till January, and we also have a rug on order (should be here soonish). We did get the crib last week but that probably won't be assembled for a while. Still need to get a crib mattress and some bedding, pick out a glider, and figure out what we're doing about shades and lighting.
We've finally started on ours after scraping off wallpaper for what seemed like forever. We still need to put the crib together, put up trim, hang the mobile and decor, and get a few more odds and ends (lighting, glider) before it will really take shape.
The only thing I have done is get a pack of new crib sheets so far. We are moving in our new house at the end of the month and baby boy is going to be in my room at first since he will share a room with big brother. I am hoping to take a picture and post it once I am moved in because I want his little cove to be special. He will be the only baby of ours that really didn't get the nursery . . . on the flip side he gets to room with Mommy so there is that.
I am nowhere near to being done but this is where I am so far with the nursery for our girl! You can't tell in the pic because of the angle but the floor are original wood floors (1940's) and so beautiful. We painted the glider and the dresser and I am in the process of recovering the chair (Obviously I have not finished the back cushion). We don't have any of the artwork yet and I am waiting on a quilt from my mother in law for the day bed. I still need to hang the curtains too... So much to do and I want to have it all done for my baby shower (at my house) on Dec 3.
Have a bunch of Totoro-specific wall art and other decorations (a mobile of crocheted Totoros, a crocheted gray Totoro doll, etc) that still need to be added along with a floor rug and a Kallax bookcase on the opposite wall, but it's really starting to come together
I was concerned the furniture wasn't going to go together or the curtains would be too much but it's got a really cool mid-century vibe going on that I'm really starting to dig.
@canavara Oh it's going to be so wonderful! I think those curtains are the perfect pop of color! Do you have blinds as well? I don't know how all babies are but Owen needed it dark to be able to sleep.
@adorebella We have miniblinds but we took them off because I wasn't crazy about them. The room is naturally really dark (I think that photo is the most light I've ever seen in the room haha) but I guess maybe I won't throw away the blinds knowing that might be a concern later on
@adorebella love the compass around the light fixture! Also where did you get the white storage cabinet with the baskets in the bottom? Been looking for something similar!
Finally got the dresser from my MIL and I'm so in love with it! I was able to make more progress once the dresser came, I hung the photos behind the dresser, put clothes away, hung other wall decor, etc. I am so in love and was surprisingly really emotional putting away my baby girls things!
after 7.5 weeks away from my *almost finished* house, I finally get to move home tomorrow and start decorating the nursery!! you ladies have made me so jealous and I can't wait to catch up.
So we haven't started the nursery yet, however we did finally settled on a theme! Since baby is sharing with our 10yr old, who is just like his mama and obsessed with Harry Potter we are going to do that!
Here are some pictures we are using to inspire our decorating lol
These are the colors we're going for, as all of the furniture is this dark color espresso/black and my 10yr old has a big crochet blanket in the Gryffindor colors.
This is the quilt that I fell in love with, but is not quite the right colors...plus etsy crib sets are too expensive lol, so my mom and I are gonna make our own quilt.
And this is the mock up I put together of the fabric I found online to do our own quilt
Sorry if it's huge LOL. I'm pretty excited to finally have a plan for the room, even though we still can't DO anything in the room until our basement is finished...going to look at fabric maybe today!
We finally got into the nursery starting last week, we Had our contract repair some of the Paster walls while they had one down time waiting for the plaster to dry in the kitchen and lower level. Our house is and almost 100 year older bungalow. We put up the "wainscoting" and painted everything and rediscover the original wood floor s that wee under the carpet. i needcto find s different rug, the walls were going to be a different shade of blue when I picked out this one. Once we've settled on where all the furniture will go and the art up, it will be perfect! The pic is a pano and makes the room look much narrower than it actually is.

Only thing left to do here is put one of the maternity photos in the empty frame.
@shlecka Rugsusa.com! I had to stalk the damn thing for over a month because it was back ordered. https://www.rugsusa.com/rugsusa/rugs/rugs-usa-r234-color-block-panels/Blue/200ACR234A-406.html

I've heard mixed reviews on it as a breastfeeding chair because of the arm height but it's really comfy and inexpensive!
Slowly coming together!

Thanks for the motivation to finish (well, start really lol) the decorations on my nursery this weekend!

The baskets I picked up at Target and luckily they fit perfect! They had a whole aisle of styles.
