We struggle so much with how firm we need to be with DS on eating what we serve him. He isn't even 2 yet, so it feels like we shouldn't be too strict. However, I don't want to develop bad habits that will make him a picky eater later on. We have more or less taken the strategy of trying to get him to eat the dinner we serve then top him off with fruit for dessert (kid can eat his body weight in fruit) and then he still gets a bottle of milk before bed.
And I have been pretty lazy about dinner lately - I am just never in the mood to cook. And we totally feed DS mac & cheese on his cranky evenings because that is how we get through dinner with our insanity intact.
Sorry in advance, but I'm posting a SS clicky thread bc DH and I are having a last minute disagreement about the name we've chosen. I don't want to get into details of the argument as I don't want the clicky poll to be biased. Thanks in advance for clicking something!!
The Canadian government occasionally sends a letter that asks you to provide documents to prove the amounts you've claimed on your tax return. It's all random so you just give them the info they need and it's done. I got one today about my tuition payment amounts. When I looked at my return to find the necessary info, I noticed the amount I entered as a scholarship didn't transfer over properly onto my claim (I entered $3000 but it showed up as $2500). I was very confused so I called to see why the amount didn't transfer properly. The lady informed me I didn't even need to claim the scholarship because it doesn't cover my tuition amount and I also was enrolled full time, so that money wasn't taxable. So she said I should ask for them to reverse this claim amount while reviewing this info so I might actually get some more money back for it! Suckers!! Serves you right for randomly choosing to audit me.
Thanks for all the dental well wishes, ladies! I ended up not having anything done, other than having it checked out (even though I woke myself up this morning in excruciating pain by smacking my teeth together in my sleep). They tested it with cold sticks, pressure and a light to look for visible fractures.
It looks like in addition to the chip (which she wasn't comfortable doing anything with and doesn't think is the main source of my pain), that I severely bruised my tooth root. Yeah, apparently you can do that.
So at my next checkup in November (or sooner if it keeps being a quality of life issue), they're going to do x-rays to double check I didn't fracture the root and I'll be fitted for a night guard since she thinks I'm also grinding/clenching my teeth while I'm sleeping.
Didn't really solve anything, but at least I know it's probably not anything serious, which is a relief! Hopefully it'll stop hurting on its own soon.
And in BRN, tomorrow is my c-section! 20 hours until I meet my boys as long as my surgery happens on time!
@RG1 Still trying to figure that out. DH wants to do something tonight and I do, too, but I'm at the point where my feet and legs are so swollen that I can't do much of anything.
I may have to figure something out and suffer through it, though, since it's our last night without kids.
@PSUBecky23 that's me too. Obsessing over calorie amounts since e wasn't gaining, but trying to loosen up a bit.
Reese was really bad at his age and I cried a lot about it. She's gotten a lot better and we're even to the point of if she refuses dinner saving it for when she tells us she's hungry later.
Holy crap, it is hard to tie my shoelaces these days...I have no idea where LO will find room to grow in the next few weeks, or where I'll find room to fit food and water into my stomach.
I'm impressed you're still wearing real shoes that have laces! Flip flops for dayzzzz.
@MojieJo so excited for your c section! Can't wait to see your little squishy boys!
Wife to A; Mama to C (2009), N (2011), H (2014) & baby F due 09/16/16
Part of me wishes I could see how long these two would cook on their own (since I'm still not showing signs of anything happening on its own), but I'm pretty proud to have made it to almost 39 weeks.
@Themaritimemama Well, I usually don't, but I desperately needed to mow the lawn today before it rained again. Even my flip flops feel tight these days, though, so I'm really struggling to find anything I can go outside in!
AHHHH! I've been totally MIA ladies. Going back to teaching in the third trimester is NO joke. I am totally exhausted. I've been trying to keep up reading, but am totally behind. Congratulations to all of the new mamas and your beautiful babies! Good luck for everyone in their final weeks! I'm over here with five weeks left hoping the time goes quickly. I can't wait to join the new squish club.
Just wanted to say hi...and don't forget about me!
@pilotswifey I don't know how you're doing it! I'm lucky enough to be able to take this year off, and even though I really miss being in the classroom, I am so glad I'm not dealing with all the third trimester aches, exhaustion, and discomfort while also trying to bring in a new crop of students and prepare them for the mat leave sub. A million gold stars for you!
Jury duty is over!!! The trial ended quicker than expected, and then deliberations today were way faster than anyone expected. And to be honest, as much as I complained when I got selected, it was super interesting and I'm really glad I got to be a part of it! It was an attempted murder trial though, so stuff got very heavy. Although I will kind of miss my fellow jurors, I'm excited to get back to my regular life and not hear about horrible things all day! Now if only I didn't have to go to work...
Good luck @yellowrose314. I had to wait 3 days after taking the NCLEX here and i felt like I couldn't breath until I got the results. I'm sure you will do fantastic just take a deep breath and I'm sure it will turn out great!
@MrsVoorhees not guilty! I had been so worried because I knew I felt strongly about that but obviously didn't know how any of the other jurors felt. I kept having these fears that id be the only one that felt that way and was getting so stressed about it. Turned out we were all on exactly the same page and only deliberated for about 1.5 hours just to make sure we covered everything and did our due diligence!
Having contractions every 8-10 mins that I doubt will turn into anything but considering this is more then I had with my first I am thrilled to know what they feel like!
Captains log, day 1 2100 hours: The induction begins.
So we checked into the hospital at 5pm and they got us in pretty fast. Currently at 1cm and 50% effaced. Got my cervidil at 745 and i am in the 2 hour must lie down and not get up for 2 hour phase. Driving me crazy bc they brought me dinner that i can see but can't have till 945 when the 2 hours is up. Really hoping that the cervidil works so we can start pitocin in the am.
My mom is already driving me crazy. She wants regular updates and to be at the hospital in the morning even though she wont be seeing us until after LO is here. She doesn't understands that the induction process can be LONG!

Our dinner date was great. Food was amazing! Waiting for our dinner I started having contractions, the strongest ones yet. I timed them and they were around 5-8 minutes apart for the last hour or so. they aren't as frequent now that I'm home and laying down but the pressure is becoming heavier. Every time the baby moves I get the worst lightening crotch everrrrrr. I never felt contractions with either girl until the pitocin kicked in at the hospital so I'm not sure when I should call my MW. I'm hoping because of how dilated I am plus the contractions means that my induction on Thursday will be faster then usual. I'm just a nervous rambling mess, sorry guys!
I've had to skip a few pages, so I know I'm missing things (which kills me, btw, because I love keeping up with all of you!) but it wanted to congratulate @OBMommy, @COmama87 and @chavezrd2 on your beautiful babies!!! Welcome to the world little ones! I hope all are doing well.
Also, @MojieJo - Tomorrow is your day and I'm so excited for you guys!! I'm thinking of you and hope that everything goes perfectly! You're gonna rock this!!
Thinking of you and sending only the very best juju your way @kosmo86!
@seitzy3 Sounds promising...! At the very least, you're right, Thur can only get easier the more progress you've made before then! Best case scenario...well, I won't say it so as not to jinx things...but I'll be thinking of you and awaiting any updates!
@seitzy3 I'm sure every thing will be fine! You can always call your MW for peace of mind. If the baby comes tomorrow instead you won't have to worry anout dh missing it!
Finally got to eat it! Woot woot. Hospital food is better then i thought.

Ahhh my day was hellish so I just had 200 posts to catch up on since early this morning. Wow. Sorry in advance if I'm missing anything or I misquote or tag someone.
@SLou24 glad to hear jury duty wasn't so bad and that it's now over. I bet you feel better knowing you weren't the only one with that verdict.
@kosmo86 good luck with the induction. Hope it's not too long. Sorry to hear your mom is bugging you already. She sounds like mine! I know they're excited, but labor can take a long time!
@MojieJo good luck tomorrow! Wishing you all the best and I can't wait to see your twins! Eee!
re: people offering their kids multiple meal options etc - hell no! DH and I already discussed this topic and have agreed not to do this.
My random - I had a shitty day. Had to drop DH off at the airport for a work trip before work so I got in late. Was super busy all day and had an OB appt which took me away for a while. I was playing catch up the entire time. Had a lot of annoying work to do today and it didn't stop coming. Then I found out that two mistakes were made because of information other people provided us so that was fun. Work sucked. I literally cannot wait to be on leave. It's getting too stressful and I don't need it. Meh!
i went to go to have Greek food after working late and the place was permanently closed! Argh! So I did some shopping at baby shops and Michaels etc. then I drove totally out of my way to go to the outlet mall to get Greek food. It was glorious and was the best part of my day. Haha!
im feeling really emotional today. Not sure if it's all the stress or if it's just hormones. DH being gone this week affected me more than his last trip (2 weeks ago) did. I'm feeling very unlike myself today. Hoping some good sleep and a good day at work will help turn it all around. We will see!
@MrsVoorhees You should direct her to the TTC board on here. You know, where it's appropriate to ask those questions. Though, I think that would get flamed even there?
OMG YES! She would get flamed to hell and back on the TTGP boards. If you have never lurked there you should go see, you will quickly see what I mean.

@RG1 thanks for not including me in that SS blanket statement haha. We are currently still debating on the spelling. We haven't told ANYONE (so feel very honored ) bc we truly don't want to hear other's opinions.
