This baby was conceived the end of December, in between Christmas and New Years, and also because that's when I was ovulating. It was our 8th month trying so at that point nothing really magical :P
My aunt, who we were visiting at the time of said conception (we stayed in a hotel), has 3 kids whose birthdays are all within 12 days of each other. I always wonder what they celebrate 3 months later...lol.
I want pickles now.
I just ate the reese's peanut butter cup with pieces inside. SO GOOD. @annas930 I'm jealous you have a whole box to yourself!
I thought Facebook was going to make the randoms thread easier to keep up with but uhm, I was wrong. LOL.
My random is that TB now lists "July 2016" as my "saved" BMB when I log in because Fin was born in July. Insert angry face here. September 2016 forever!!!!!
Good luck @yellowrose314 (though, you don't need it because you are smart and you studied)! You're going to do great!
re conception: My parents have awkwardly and unnecessarily informed me that my twin and I were conceived at Penn State. Like, on campus. Which all checks out except both of my parents have always lived in south Jersey and neither of them went to college...
Thanks ladies for the thoughts on the out of office message. As @JennM205 and @blondie080300 suggested I think I'll put in that I'm out on maternity leave and won't put a return date so people know its a months thing and not a week thing. Especially as I have no idea exactly what my return date would be yet and probably won't know until half way through my leave. I never even thought of leaving it open ended, so thanks for putting that idea out there!
@Sbrown721 - my husband bought my entire box of them (24 packages, AKA 48 PB cups!) at Rite Aid.. haven't seen them at grocery stores yet. @diagonalley - Right?! I froze 15 or 16 of the packages, they're so wonderful.
@LakeR2014 Will be putting Maternity leave in my OOO, everyone knows.. but I'm an AW and want the whole world to know.
You guys, you're awesome!!! Super super nervous but I'm doing really well on my practice tests so far. Just have to keep calm and jam on. The preggo massage is definitely the light at the end of the tunnel!! Also the hotel were staying at has complementary 20 min chair massages.
I just Primed myself a book about eating that is basically going to pound into my head that I, as the parent have the role of buying and preparing the food and putting it in front of my child, and my child has the role of eating (or not eating) that food and determining how much. I think this is going to be good for me. I can really get into good mindsets if I read and treat it like studying.. and as you all know by now, I am so stuck on worrying about my kid being a picky eater. Yay me, and it's a book from the 80s.. too funny.
My mom has said several times how my brother was conceived on a drunk New Years but his due date was Oct 6th. My little one is due 9/26 and I know I ovulated 1/3-1/4 so I guess there is a chance New Years was it or all the other days in my FW.
@AnnaS930 I was at a friend's house the other night. She has a 4 year old boy. She was frustrated at what a picky eater he can be and he was a bit distracted by DH and I being there eating with his family, but she ended up setting out 5 different plates of food for him to eat from that night. I couldn't believe it! She just kept switching it up trying to get him to eat something! He nibbled a little on each "meal" she set in front of him, but she ended up giving him a few bites of ice cream and a small piece of chocolate and then stopped trying to get him to eat.
Ughhh! Good for you for being proactive before anything turns into a habit!
@Sbrown721 Giving DD 5 different plates of food is my nightmare! We'd go nuts. We just tell her she doesn't have to eat anything, but she has to sit with us while we have a meal. She almost always eats by the end, even if she started off whining about the offerings.
@abberson Yeah! I just kept thinking that 5 different plates of food would be difficult for an adult to not be distracted/confused by! Especially when the boy knew that she would eventually offer him something different if he only nibbled on current food. Not to mention all the food going to waste each night!
@Sbrown721 - yeah, absolutely not. @abberson - this is what we try to do too, especially as E is very vocal and can tell us what he wants (before now I've been reluctant to let him just not eat.. I'd rather pull out some goldfish and mini oreos just to get calories in.. but no more!) We do enjoy a small dessert each night as that is just how I eat typically, and this way he gets it whether he ate a great meal or nothing.. it's not a bribe it's not a reward it's not instead of food, it's just part of it all.
We are making some progress.. and by me I mean me loosening up and him therefore being more prone to eating instead of just testing my limits, but it's certainly my biggest parenting mindf*ck. It all ties back to me being obsessed with growth curves and him staying on his.. which I'll hopefully get over someday as well!
A coworker bought ice cream for another pharmacist's birthday, but he's at a meeting right now. I know it's going to come out right after I leave (3:20) to pick up Emmett from daycare. WAH! I have a pumpkin pie flavored yogurt that I want to try, but what if I open it and the ice cream comes out?! THE STRUGGLE IS REAL!
I follow a local baby and kids items garage sale page on FB, and this chick keeps posting about her period, or TTC and today she posted asking if she's one day late on her period but got negative tests, is she definitely not pregnant? Dude. This is a garage sale page...
@MrsVoorhees You should direct her to the TTC board on here. You know, where it's appropriate to ask those questions. Though, I think that would get flamed even there?
@yellowrose314 good vibes coming your way for your exam!
This baby was conceived during our weekend away for our wedding anniversary. We decided two weeks before to start trying for our third and later that night after we DTD we got really drunk at our friends wedding and talked about how crazy we are and agreed that we would wait maybe another year. Then I got my bfp a few days before Christmas. Fun times
My random: my stomach has been in knots all morning. I am so nervous about Thursday I just want to throw up! I really don't feel prepared at all. I have mixed feelings about inducing and just want everything to go as smoothly as possible and without complications. Meanwhile, I am just keeping busy with the girls and H. It's one of our last days as a family of four.
Later, H and I are going to a new steakhouse that opened not too long ago. I'm excited to stuff my face and enjoy a kid free dinner and not have to clean up after haha
@MrsVoorhees You should direct her to the TTC board on here. You know, where it's appropriate to ask those questions. Though, I think that would get flamed even there?
Unless TTC has gotten as rainbows and unicorns as humanly possible.. that would absolutely get flamed. It's annoying to ask questions that nobody knows the answer to. Are you pregnant because your period is late? Who knows! Are you not pregnant because you got a negative super early test that is only like 25% accurate? Who knows! Patience, young grasshopper.
@abberson Yeah! I just kept thinking that 5 different plates of food would be difficult for an adult to not be distracted/confused by! Especially when the boy knew that she would eventually offer him something different if he only nibbled on current food. Not to mention all the food going to waste each night!
This! So much this! DH has a cousin with three kids. Each meal they make 4 different meals! One for each boy and one for the parents - every single meal! It's so bad that they even bring separate meals for the kids to big holiday events like Thanksgiving and Christmas. Coming from a family where you either ate what mom was serving or you ate nothing at all, this drives me absolutely bonkers. I can understand if the kids had allergies or something (because Duh!) but nope it's because they're picky. They started doing it with kid #1 then kid #2 caught on and so on and so on. At gatherings it's all well 'kid #1 wanted nuggets, and Kid #2 wanted hot dogs & mac and cheese, while kid #3 wanted pb&J.' So they bring they're own cooler of food, set their kids up with the different plates, then go and grab whatever the host is making for themselves. The whole thing just makes me twitchy, especially when i'm the hostess...it's like 'What my food wasn't good enough?'

TB has changed so much that I wasn't sure if it is rainbows and unicorns on TTC. Someone on one of the more recent BMBs (want to say March17) joined the group because she "felt pregnant", and they all fed into it!
Y'all I need to be reading other BMBs. They sound hilarious.
re: away messages at work ( @LakeR2014 et al ) I have also been telling other lawyers I am going on maternity leave so people are prepared to contact someone else if they need something, but I definitely will put it in my OOO message so people realize I will not be right back. I am leaving the date open ended (especially when I'm looking at coming back during the holidays? We'll see about that coupled with what I can get away with). Also in my state and field, service of legal documents is often done by email and I want to make it clear in every way conceivable that I cannot accept service in order to cover my rear end. So even though why I'm out is really none of anyone's business, I am going to (over)share it. May be a little bit of AWing in there as well. No ragrets.

Guys - not gonna lie. I was totally unimpressed with these. Maybe this should be my FFFC? I was just expecting...more. Le sigh.
@yellowrose314 good luck on your test! I know it's extremely steady and was just relieved to be done with mine. I took it twice to pass.
@LakeR2014@abberson that's crazy that the parents go out of their way to make so much extra food to get their kids to eat. I was an extremely picky child myself and my parents never did that. I just learned to make my own food pretty early on. I especially can't imagine 5 plates of food. I don't think my kids would ever eat much because they'd be waiting on the next plate of food. And I also find it hard to imagine you can't find something your children can eat at big family meals and make something different for each. My oldest used to only eat meat and bread, but at least that was available at those meals. Those parents are just making things way harder on themselves. I mean how long to you keep doing that? Till they leave for college?
As the mom of a picky eater, it's so easy to judge how others feed their children when you're not having to obsess over whether your small child is getting enough calories. Reese has finally caught up in size, has slowly been getting less picky and I've been learning to stand my ground with not being a short order cook. But when your child absolutely refuses anything more than a couple crackers and a cup of milk over the course of an entire day, sometimes you do what you have to do for peace of mind.
@LakeR2014 That is crazy, but my SIL and BIL do the same. They will stop at three different places for fast food because SIL's step-son wanted one thing, step-daughter wanted something else, and then go to a third place for themselves. That never would have happened when I was growing up. We ate what was given to us or we didn't eat. I give McKenna some leeway because she's not even two yet, but even then I play it by ear. Did she not eat something I know she likes? I assume that means she's not hungry and get her down. Did she not eat something new? I'll offer a second choice because she may just legitimately not like what I gave her.
All this said, I've totally been slacking with her meals in my lazy end of pregnancy-ness. She's had cheese puffs instead of a veggie for lunch the last two days. They're the natural baked ones, so that makes it better, right?
@PSUBecky23 Absolutely! There are always many exceptions. This was not the case with the boy I was observing. Allergies and/or being underweight/overweight is completely different!

No shame!!! DD has eaten frozen meatballs like 3 meals in a row
@PSUBecky23 I don't and won't judge the parent of a toddler doing what they have to get food in their child. But I see a huge difference between a three year old and an 8 and 10 year old (my niece and nephew).

Agreed on this front. You definitely do what you have to do @PSUBecky23, I totally get that. But to me at some point it needs to stop so that you don't have the situation I witness at every holiday gathering. We're talking kids that are 9, 7, and 5 respectively. My home is not a restaurant or park where you bring you're own food when I'm serving dinner, please stop treating it like one.
Holy crap, it is hard to tie my shoelaces these days...I have no idea where LO will find room to grow in the next few weeks, or where I'll find room to fit food and water into my stomach.
@PSUBecky23 I'm not at all judging anyone trying to get a toddler to eat, that can be a trial in itself even with nonpicky children. I'm just saying at what point do you stop going out of the way for preference. Like @camichael84 mentioned SIL going to 3 different places for food for one meal. That's crazy. Especially as many options as there are at places these days. I also wonder how these children deal when they get older and go to friends houses or sleep overs or camp. I can understand having some go to food at home that you know you're family will all eat but how can you even be that prepared if you never all eat the same thing.
