No one ever told me pumping would take over my life. Geez Louise being attached to this machine every 3 hours is not easy. But it's paying off- I officially have a freezer stash! Woop woop
@mom2adoodle That's awesome about your freezer stash! Pumping is something I'm not really looking forward to doing again. When we were having supply issues, McKenna would BF then we'd suppliment with a bottle then I would pump. If DH wasn't home to feed the bottle, it'd feel like we just finished and I'd have to start all over again!

Not gonna lie, I was so relieved when I finally quit pumping at 10 months. It is worth it, but you feel so chained to it. Are you exclusively pumping at this point or is Fin able to latch also?

Props to you. Pumping takes so much dedication. Is Fin latching at all? Are you working towards just BFing? Seeing a LC? Sorry for the 20 questions.
@mom2adoodle I feel your pain. I hate pumping but it's a necessary evil, especially when I go back to work because I'm too cheap to pay for formula. Hang in there...hopefully you won't have to pump as often soon!
Just home from Bad Moms. Guys... I laughed through the whole thing and teared up... a lot... maybe too much?? So many touching mom moments. Unreal.
I traded up at the end when their moms were talking!!! I ended up eating the rest of my nacho chips that I had already thrown my trash into just to keep from crying.

Loooooved that after the ending. Great way to bring it all back around.

I totally started crying too! It also made me feel so much better about my parenting skills
Kathryn Hahn is becoming one of my favorite actresses. I laugh at all her characters
Today has been the best day! I'm feeling good (finally off pelvic rest now that I've hit 37 weeks - it's a wonder what a little activity has done for my mental disposition)! DD and I had a Mommy/Daughter date which started with pedicures. I wasn't sure how she would do but she was sooooo good - even let me get a bang trim and eyebrow wax at the salon when we were done! Then, we went to the library to play and read. After that, we went to the store so she could buy baby a gift. Then, tonight DH and I had a date and saw the Jason Bourne movie...our first movie in a theater in...a year? I ate a salad for lunch, basically so I could eat popcorn and candy for dinner. Which is exactly what I did!
after my 3rd and final shower today I can officially say that i have everything I need for the baby. Cue freak out any moment now My cousin also brought me *3* plastic bins full of clothes. check yes for being set for the next 2 years lol
@PSUBecky23 Thankfully the NICU provided us with a Lactation consultant on the daily! His cheeks just aren't matured yet to latch consistently. He gets very frustrated when he's starving and has to struggle latching We're on a twice a day breastfeed attempt, 2 formula bottles for extra vitamins and the rest of the feeds pumped breast milk.
@diagonalley You're so right- formula is expensive! Fin just takes two feeds of formula a day and I'm already noticing that.
@Shiva14 He can latch but it takes several attempts which frustrates him. Since we are focused on helping him gain weight he's on a 2 breastfeeding sessions a day limit Until his little mouth is more developed.
@camichael84 Absolutely. I spend my day either pumping or cleaning the damn pump!
So I feel I have missed something major...we DO have a FB group now?? I will go scan to see if there is a thread about this but can someone help me out and confirm? Is it everyone on Sept. 16 or just the Randoms?
Thanks again for the well-wishes. We are all doing ok for now. I helped plan all of the funeral details yesterday. That was a first for me. But we made it through everything and the memorial service will be on Monday. DH's friend/our house guest showed up today so now I am just trying extra extra hard to be nice and social (he's not my favorite person in the world so it requires effort). I am going to need some serious downtime next weekend. LOL. Otherwise, I am holding up fine considering. My mom is the best and brought me a ton of veggie-friendly food, snacks and drinks. That was the best thing ever since I have been running around and haven't been able to think about eating let alone cooking.
Married: 3/21/15 First time mom to a human but have been a puppy mamma for over 12 years
@blondie080300 I'm happy to see you checking in amidst everything else going on in your life right now. I've been thinking of you, your DH and his family (as I'm sure others have as well)! Sounds like things are as well as can be expected. Hang in there...and know you have a community of women here for you when things get tough, as I'm sure the emotions will ebb and flow add time goes on!
And, yes, there's a FB group! There's a thread on it...I forget the exact name but it started as a poll and evolved from there. Basically, PM an admin PSUBecky23, AmMcc12, yellowrose86, diagonalley, Jabreen or Megan324 the email address associated with your FB account and they'll send you an invite. If you mobile bump, Shiva14 posted a TB inbox link in that FB thread so you can get to it!
@blondie080300 we do have an fb group now, the admins are listed in the FB discussion thread and you pm them to get an invite. It's S16 regulars so not just randoms I think. Also I'm glad to hear you are doing better even though this is still a tough time. I hope everything goes smoothly with the house guest and the funeral!
@blondie080300 I'm glad things seem to be going as well as can be expected considering the horrible circumstances and that your mom is helping you out! Still sending good thoughts for all of you as you go through this.
Ok cause my oldest is 7 and I honestly don't remember this ever being a problem with him, do any of you have tips for a toddler who has begun hitting and trying to bite when he gets angry/frustrated? DS2 has recently started acting like this and I'm kind of at a loss to get him to stop because he is only doing it when he's already throwing a bad attitude and not listening.
On a positive note I was able to take the boys to the park today and feel accomplished even though it completely wore me out.

Yellowrose314 actually Yellowrose86 is going to be really confused if she gets a PM lol
@mom2adoodle I'm so glad they are providing you with consultants and being very proactive about supporting your decision to BF hopefully you'll be able to dump the pump for at least some of the feedings once Mr Finley gets a bit bigger, that will eliminate some of the time spent on getting the pump out/cleaning/storing etc.
@mom2adoodle no need to clean the pump between sessions. Throw the parts in a bag and stick them in the fridge. Clean just once a day. (My husband told me to go take a nap the first time he saw my parts in the fridge. He thought I had lost it.)
I dislike waking up so early on Sunday when I don't have to be up. I guess it gives me time to enjoy a quiet cappuccino and plan my day. First thing on my list is to order the Spectra S2, one of the last remaining items that I am missing.
@blondie080300 Just wanted to reach out and say I am happy to hear you are managing and I t's great that your mom brought you nutritious food to keep you going. Hope your husband is holding up alright and that you both get some well needed down time after the memorial service.
Hmmmm guys I'm really torn about the whole FB thing. I haven't had an acct in YEARS. (I froze it bc I'm a teacher and I don't want students creeping). Maybe I'll just make a new "RedMar" acct? My husband is a PI and also has a private acct to "spy" on claimants. I'll think this through a little bit...
You ladies have been amazing and I def wanna keep in touch
@RedMar you could totally do a "RedMar" account! And since it's a secret group, you could use your real name in there even if you FB name is RedMar, and your students wouldn't ever be able to search/find it. No peer pressure, though
@blondie080300 I'm so glad to hear you're holding up, considering all that you're going through right now. Please remember that you have zero responsibility to entertain this house guest and you also have zero responsibility to keep the house perfectly clean/cook/do anything for him that you might normally want to as a host. This is a not a normal hosting situation! I'm so glad your mom brought you some food as well. The memorial service won't be easy but you can do it -- and know that we're all here supporting you in the background!
These weekends that my husband works and I'm alone with Reese are getting harder and harder. Which means they'll be super easy with two kids. Only four hours and 14 minutes until his shift is over.
man, I think I have a UTI. Would my pee be cloudy though? Pee looks fine but I'm so damn aware of my urethra at any given moment. It happened a couple of weeks ago but went away, now it's back.
@MrsVoorhees Could be a UTI but early enough that it's not visibly clouding the urine yet. Or, maybe you're just not emptying your urethra entirely? With baby squishing the path, some might be getting stuck somewhere sensitive. Also, baby sitting on the nerves down there and just tricking you? I think the last two are happening to me pretty regularly these days...
@RedMar I'm a teacher, too, but have my FB locked down so they can't see anything other than my profile pic or my son's medical page (which I intentionally left public for awareness purposes) and many of the students did things to support when he was sick, anyway, so I don't mind them seeing that. I've had 1 student in my 10 years try to friend me and I just ignored it. I'm pretty sure I can only be friend requested if we have a mutual friend and she was "friends" with a retired teacher who I'm also friends with.
@mom2adoodle I don't remember if I asked this, but have you tried a nipple shield at all? That was a lifesaver for me. And in regards to the cost of formula, DS1 had to be on a special formula for kids with kidney issues for a couple weeks after he came home from the hospital this past fall and one stinking small can was over $20...plus because he needed to fatten back up it was not a typical ratio of formula:water. I was very thankful when they said his limited diet was over and we could go back to normal foods.
@blondie080300 Glad to hear you're holding up with everything and that your mom is taking care of you by bringing food. I hope you can get some downtime next weekend!
