August Randoms!!!

Re: August Randoms!!!

  • At the store yesterday I saw a bunch of Halloween decorations and costumes already out! It made me excited knowing that baby'll be over a month old by then (probably almost two months). I like the Cadbury creme eggs with chocolate or caramel but am too weirded out by the regular egg-looking ones, maybe I'll try one of the Halloween ones and see.

  • @AnnaS930 They only briefly mentioned the other pain management options to me and didn't say the name of the drug, next time I will ask to see if it is nubain. I am glad to hear it felt more like a glass of wine tho... I really would not like to be high for the birth of my son :/
They did say that the drug can affect baby but only make him a little more sleepy. So that was a little scary too.

@RedMar Thank you! I guess you're right and the more I worry the worse it will be.

Maybe the anesthesiologist will say I can get an epidural but I am not holding out much hope. Either way I will know next week and ask more details about other pain management. They also mentioned laughing gas, does anyone have any experience with that?

  • @Jabreen My mouth flooded with saliva looking at that picture. I'm making a batch and freezing it for when the baby's here and the GD effs off. Not normally a sweets person, but when I was a kid I ALWAYS had to have the Jumparoo's with the rainbow frosting. And of course now that's all I want to eat. Stupid diabetes.

I am super moodswingy today, and it blows. Started out great, my cousin, aunt and uncle and my cousins 2 kids came to visit on their way home, which is awesome because I haven't seen them in so long. Had a great visit, the kids gave me their "baby shower" present, which was adorable. Got a few little baby books that the kids were adamant they had to read to me first, it was super cute. They also count as some of the few tiny humans I love and can stand to be around.
My mom and DH and I had planned to go out for brunch after to my favourite breakfast place, and at the last minute my mom, who was driving, decided no we're not going there, we're going to the greasy spoon diner that serves hollandaise sauce that looks and tastes like it came out of a packet. I was less than thrilled, especially since I'd been psyched to eat my favourite chorizo eggs benny at the other place. And then the whole way home my mom just nitpicked every little thing while I was driving. And DH said nothing. We had to come to our place to pick up the change table to bring it to her house so we can refinish it, and both of of them started talking to me at once about how to pull into the driveway so I parked on the road and said eff it, you guys can park the damn car yourselves. And stomped into the house. And then my mom came in and was like "do you feel better now that you've had a hissy fit?". And I death glared at her so hard she kind of took a few steps back. And I was like "God forbid the pregnant lady have some mood swings, maybe if you both weren't shouting at me how to park and nagging me the whole way home I'd be in a better mood". And locked myself in the bathroom to cry. So now I'm bumping and moping and DH keeps sending me texts asking when I'm coming over and I have no desire to be around anyone right now.

  • @Alyeena I should clarify that I had the nubain during labor but not while pushing the baby out. It had completely warn off of me by the time to push and didn't make baby drowsy either (or not notably so) because it had been a good few hours between the med and baby being born. Of course they can't predict how quickly baby will come but when I asked if I was due for a second dose as the pain was back they said that it was too close to pushing, and knowing that I was so close to the end made the pain somewhat forgettable anyways

  • @AnnaS930 Maybe it is not the same thing then, they said I would have a little button to push on when I needed pain medication and that each dose would last for about 10 minutes, I could press it every 10 minutes if needed and of course I can't give myself too much.
Even though when he said it I pictured myself furiously clicking on the thing.

No, that's some form of PCA (Patient controlled anesthesia).. and even if you furiously click the machine is programmed not to give a dose again until the time elapsed.. so nice try! hahaha :) Nubain (nalbuphine) was just an oral tablet.. works pretty quickly and is metabolized and eliminated in a fairly quick manner as well

  • @yellowrose314 I can confidently say I would have had the same reaction right now. You can't mess with a pregnant woman! Much less undermine them or their abilities to do something like parking (that would've made me upset pregnant or not, it just sounds like too much at the same time). Breathe, take a few minutes, bump and come out when you feel better  <3

  • Did anyone else see that a movie called Sausage Party is opening this weekend? I've never even heard of this, but feel like it is going to be incredibly stupid. I just can't...

But I just looked on Rotten Tomatoes and it has better reviews than Bad Moms which I wanna go see tomorrow night. Wah.  Maybe we should just go to Secret Life of Pets - ha!

  • @AnnaS930 I kind of want to check it out. The whole idea of an animated movie meant for adults only intrigues me. I don't expect it to be great but I've read it's pretty good. I'm just hoping to laugh a little bit if I do watch it.

I have this issue where funny movies have to be REALLY funny for me to enjoy them. If they're just stupid funny, I get annoyed quickly and grouchy (I am a toddler at heart). So movies like Ted.. I started to hate within the first few minutes and Boom.. couldn't stand the rest, never cracked a smile.  I think the animation to me makes it feel too childish? Even though i love animated kids movies.

I have a friend who likes to do thinks like "lets get together and watch awful movies and laugh at how bad they are!" and I'm all "...no. let's watch great movies and laugh at how great they are"
    I just can't be pleased!

  • @AnnaS930 I get that. I can't stand Ted or movies like that where it's just "let's do stupid crap until it's funny". I'm a sucker for old school comedies because of this.

  • I actually work for a few hours and I'm so far behind!
As usual I feel so far behind you all being due at the end of the month. I haven't had any cervical checks or GBS yet, but I know they are coming!

  • @AnnaS930 I saw the previews for Sausage Party a few months back and thought it looked absolutely hilarious
  • @annas930 @mrsvoorhees I'm going to see Bad Moms tonight too with some girlfriends, I can't wait!

I've been just touching base and loving it since I've been super busy at work this week.

@blondie080300 I'm so very sorry for your loss and I hope you're hanging in there!

    @reesaxden I just love Evin's facial expressions!
  • This ad showed up on TB for me just now.  Had never heard of PUQE before, it's the Pregnancy Unique Quantification Emesis/Nausea Index.  Am giggling to myself that the Nausea scale is called the "puke" index.

    I am a child.
This is the best thing I've seen in a while  :D
  • @AlwaysAuntNeverMom Thank you. I feel like I've been unleashing my bitch sessions way too often on here, but it's been a rough couple of weeks, just seems like there's a permanent drama llama camped out at our place, which is so not usually how things go. But I just got back to my moms house from my midwife appointment and she apologized for being a nag. And I got a cheeseburger, so that makes me happy.

Congrats @Trgree1712 on your new littles! They are precious  <3

On the topic of PP sex, I want to add that if it is painful, don't ignore it. I kept thinking it would get better, and I just needed more time to heal. After 3-4 months, DH finally convinced me to go to the OB, and I had granulation scar tissue that had to be treated with silver nitrate. The treatment was AWFUL but it fixed the problem! I'm so glad, I didn't ignore it longer.
Oh, you too? I had that scar tissue too....the treatment was....man. Freaking hurt like a mother. I really, really don't want that to happen again!!!!!!
It was so bad! That is my worst fear about labor this time!
Really? I had to have the silver nitrate and it was NBD, especially compared with the pain of sex.

We didn't have sex for a year. And I dont mean, "I had painful sex for a year." I mean it hurt too much to try to have sex. It's so awful. And you get to this point where it's hard to know whether it's physical or mental because it's hard to get yourself in the mood when you KNOW it's going to hurt.

I expressed concern to my doctor about 6 months PP and I wish I hadn't waited so long. I did several months of physical therapy. Obviously I got to the point where I could have sex. It was never painless, but it got to a point where the pleasure outweighed the pain.

I really very strongly encourage everyone to seek physical therapy. Especially anyone who tears. I will be seeking it out again no matter my delivery method.
