@Bibliobebe Yes, serious withdrawals over here! We still have season 9 eps saved on our dvr and every time I scroll past them I get crabby there won't be any new ones for a while
@Megan324 That sounds super yummy. I'm sure everyone will be appreciative that there's some nosh, I've been to baby showers where all there was to eat was the cake, which is great either way; I'm always down for free food. If anyone says anything about the spread, just talk about the budget; I find it ironic that talking about the money makes people more uncomfortable than their original rude comment should have.
@yellowrose314 Okay awesome My aunt is coming in from out of town and wanted to see everyone and like 4 days ago told me that she invited all the uncles and cousins too. Oh. Okay lol We had to switch event spaces and everything (Both rooms at my Grandmothers nursing home so it wasn't a huge deal but still)
@mom2adoodle FTM here but after reading (and watching) many reviews, we bought a Snuza. We're getting an Angel Care as well for when she goes to her room but since that only works in a crib and she'll be in a PnP in our room at first, we went for the Snuza in the meantime.
I am a freak about watching babies sleep to make sure they're breathing. I've done it with each of my nephews while taking care of them and I cannot imagine how much more obsessed I'll be with my own.
The reasons we got the Snuza and not the Owlet (and these are all personal opinions based on reviews) are: it's been in the market a liiiittle longer than the Owlet so it's had more time to get the kinks out; we saw many people complain about more false alarms with the Owlet than the Snuza but they have made a few fixes to it; only 30 days to return the Owlet if you don't like it (it used to be like 6 mos but lots of people returned them b/c of the many false alarms) which is a problem for us since baby's not here yet but might not be a problem for you; Snuza is battery operated vs Owlet being connected through bluetooth to the station.
A lot of people are against monitors because of the false alarms but I'd rather have many false alarms than miss an issue. If we have too many, we'll return it and probably try an Owlet.
Thanks for the input on monitors, ladies! My doctor said the same thing about false positives making you crazy. I understand that rational but I also like getting sleep ha!
I'm so excited more September babies are coming. It makes me feel less alone having the first outside baby. Is that selfish of me?
@Megan324 You could always throw in an egg salad sandwich too as a vegetarian option and to add a little variety (plus ingredients essentially the same). But def not necessary. Spread sounds great, have fun at the shower!
I was sick as a dog yesterday so while I still popped in to check on @UnwritteN12 and @Frogdog06, I didn't comment on anything. Congratulations to both of you! The babies are just perfect and I'm so happy that everyone is here safe and sound!
@Ssoccerball are you feeling better today? Any signs of labor?
That's so sweet of you to ask! I had all kinds of tummy issues yesterday, which I thought could be labor related, especially after I had several hours of contractions that were about 6 minutes apart. But they never progressed. I think these babies are enjoying messing with me..."Is it or isn't it labor?"
Can I be an AW for 30 seconds? My favorite sister in law has a tradition of making a special blanket for all of her nieces/nephews with their name embroidered on it for their hospital pictures and Alice Ruth's came in the mail today! It's SO pretty it almost makes me wish I was crafty!
Nothing to report over here. Haven't had any more discharge/bleeding and no contractions or signs of my water breaking. I'm still thinking they'll be here by the end of the weekend, but I hope I'm wrong. I'll be 37 weeks (full term) on Saturday, but I want them to cook a while longer!
@mhilpisch10 I hope not! Just trying to avoid having them share my dad's birthday, which is tomorrow (especially since they're already sharing one with each other)!
I know it's not a big deal if they do end up being born tomorrow, but I'm going to be annoyed that I came so close to making it past the August birthdays in our family and then didn't.
It would be kind of convenient, though, since I've already got an OB appointment tomorrow morning.

I feel your pain. At this point I'm like, just shit or get off the pot.
@Megan324 Wow, you're far more patient and understanding than I would have been. If someone had just up and invited 15 extra people to my shower on their own accord, without offering to chip in extra money to cover the cost, I would have flipped shit. I mean they're family, yes, but still, when you're working with a limited budget, it's pretty inconsiderate to just invite people to someone else's party.
@yellowrose314 if it wasn't such a low key affair to begin with I would have flipped lol but with all the drama with my other shower I just wanted something simple.
But I really am a patient person, almost to a fault
On the topic of Snuza and Owlet monitors, we never really felt the need to get one with DS. They were new to the market and we didn't know anyone who had one so we felt it wasn't necessary. And we don't plan on getting one for this LO. That said, DS slept in our room for 4 months. The first few nights home from the hospital, I did get up a few times and check on DS to make sure he was breathing. There were just times when I would wake up and it would be eerily quiet in the room. I always felt a little silly checking him, but new parent paranoia is real. Then one night I caught DH doing the same thing. It was really sweet and made me feel less silly.
On the topic of alarms - we are going with the owlet this time and had the angel care for DS. The reason we are getting the owlet is because it measures oxygen level/heartbeat vs movement. Movement monitors do not go off until the baby stops moving. So if they spit up and can't turn their head, any potential struggle that caused them to still move their arms or flail would cause the movement monitor to not go off. The owlet would catch something like that.
I hate thinking about theses things but I am super paranoid when it comes to tiny newborns who can't really control their bodies.
Just got home from my 37wk apt and OB said unless my water breaks this weekend she's checkin me in Monday to be induced! Fluids are low, but not scary low, and I'm dilated to 2, 80% effaced. That's 10 days earlier than my original induction date and 16 days earlier than my EDD. Also means he'll be a Leo, so I need to get him some cute lion stuff I can't wait to meet my baby Momo (Monte)!!
@frogdog06 Baby Layla is too cute! Love the side eye stare and her name! Congrats!
My cashier at the grocery store was due on Sep. 19th, and I'm due on the 21st. Not going to lie, we bonded. She looked a hell of a lot better than I did.
She he was like "I'm drinking too much juice, I need to be healthier!" And I was like (in my head) "oh, honey" and I sipped my iced coffee.
@KimmySchmidt It's so funny talking to people like that. One of my best friends just hit second tri and she's doing everything exactly right...no caffeine, no lunch meat, no anything that you're even maybe not supposed to have. Then she asks my advice on something and I'm like 'I don't know how to talk to you.' Lol
I seriously don't know what to do with myself today. DD1 slept until 9:30 this morning, and I WOKE HER UP. Now she's been sleeping for almost 3 hours. I've been able to be productive and lazy all in the same day. It's fantastic!
36 week appt today. All looked great got stabbed for GBS. Nothing going on cervix-wise... which was true until 41 weeks last time so no surprise there!! Keep on cooking baby

Wow, my Dr just swabs me, there's usually way less stabbing at my appointments.

This typo made me laugh because I just got swabbed last week and "stabbed" is more accurate. That big ass dry q-tip was no joke.

LOL I am a FTM and I thought "hmm I thought it was a swab test but maybe its a blood test?"

We need a gif of a clenched vagina. No, wait, we don't.
I just assumed that meant AnnaS930 got the antibiotic shot, but then, it's probably an oral medication anyway. Then again, I thought I was getting a GBS shot with my TDAP yesterday, too. Clearly, I'm not thinking through the process right now!
I don't usually participate in the Randoms thread because I just can't keep up with al the posts. But I'm just gonna leave this right here...coming to the grocery stores near me this week and my mouth is watering just thinking about it:

The antibiotics are administered via IV when you go in to deliver
