@sbrown721 we only use a crib sheet until 2ish, so I don't even register for the full sets. Both kids are in toddler bed now, but DS1 prefers a fleece blanket and DS2 had an A+A blanket that stays on for all of like 10min. I would probably just use it for decor and maybe save for when they're bigger.
I just HAD to be the FTM with the expensive bedding set who would only use 50% of it!  B)
Because the bedding sets are always so flipping cute compared to just a crib sheet. I don't blame you!

@PoodleDoodleOoo @Sbrown721 haha don't feel bad about getting the set! LOTS of people do and they're super cute. We're only getting sheets because I just couldn't find a set I loved and I've just never seen people close to me use them but hanging them on the wall or draping on the glider looks very cute. Go for it!

  • @PoodleDoodleOoo I have a comforter that belonged to my brothers that I always LOVED and wanted. Like you said, super comfy and always kept you at the right temp.... Well, none of them have kids, so I got my mom to cover it, and it's now my son's favourite comforter. I'll give it back when my kid has outgrown it and they have their own..........maybe.

@PSUBecky23 How do you hang a quilt on a wall? (hopefully not too dumb a question) I got a beautiful handmade one from a relative that I'd love to display until we use it.

Also I just realized today is 59 days left... Somehow the less than 60 part is really freaking me out! It's going by fast now.

@TheTamedShrew AAAAGH, yes! The heat! Everyone was was making jokes about how DH and I timed it terribly because I was going to be big pregnant in the middle of summer. Up until TODAY I've been fine and have actually enjoyed being outside so I just shrugged all the comments off with a laugh. But summer is officially here and the heat index is nearly 100 with no hope of lowering in the near future!

They issued a heat advisory for the rest of the week with NO RAIN expected to break it up. I heard that this morning on the radio and I was like "Hm. It's not THAT bad." Then this afternoon I was constantly hot, couldn't find a cool spot anywhere in the house (despite the AC) and I got all woozy. So yeah. Feelin' it now.

Five cheers for summer pregos. *high five*

So...someone purchased the nursery bedding set (woohoo!). It comes with the quilt, crib sheet, bed skirt and diaper stacker. I highly doubt I will have any use for the diaper stacker and I have no clue what to do with the quilt until the child is old enough to use it. It's a really pretty forest-themed quilt. What are you ladies doing with your quilts if you purchased a bedding set?
Someone purchased ours too... It's owl themed (lambs and ivy company - so cute). It comes with all that stuff. We currently just have the comforter hanging off the crib like in the picture in the ad lol. I figure maybe we can use it while chillin in the glider? But also not sure. Would love to hear what others say

  • pdxmamatobe You have a couple options when hanging a quilt.  First, you can do what Unwritten did and use tacks, etc., to pin it up like a poster.  This can be troublesome with heavy quilts or with LOs, and can put holes in your quilt.  Second, you (or the quilt maker) can sew on a hanging sleeve - basically, a tube of fabric like you would find on the back of a curtain.  If you're not planning to use them on a bed (and probably even if you do), this is probably the best method.  The tube stitching can go on top of another seam to hide it, and after the quilt can be hung on a normal curtain rod!

  • You guys, I kind of like to eat paper towels, is that really super fucking strange? Not like a whole one, just a little piece here and there.
  • @fireflygirl12 I mean.....lolol whatever floats your boat

  • Thanks for all the name feedback. I really do like all 3, so don't think I'll be disappointed about any of them. I think Ruby has a slight lead though. I would probably like Lily more if it wasn't so popular.
  • We hung DS's quilt on the wall with essentially a curtain rod.  They do make rods specifically for quilts (and maybe we did use one of those but considering the room wasn't put together until I had a 2 month old I don't really remember much!)  Now we're in the process of working on switching his room to a big boy room so I'll take it down.  Not sure what I'll do with it when it comes down.

  • @fireflygirl12 Have you had your iron tested recently? That is a common sign of pica (from anemia). I used to crave snow in the winter. Like literally crave it. And have the urge to lick the wet pavement when it rains (the smell was amazing). Don't worry, I never did it! :) But all signs of anemia.

How's your iron? Sounds possibly like pica
  • @blondie080300 and @thscary, I have had iron deficiency anemia for years, but I control it with supplements. If I quit taking iron, then my levels go down right away, but I'm not currently anemic.

I used very small trim nails to hang ours. If you have sheet rock walls you could prob use push pins
  • @fireflygirl12 I laughed way too hard about the paper towel thing. It's so out of the blue!

@blondie080300 yay for a non-stressful OB breakup. Thankfully you didn't go on that trip! That must have been so scary for the girls involved.

Ladies, we STILL don't have air conditioning at work!  :s It went out on Tuesday of last week. I worked from home on Thursday and was off on Friday so I haven't had to endure it quite as much as everyone else, but today it was so bad my boss told me I could go home and work for the rest of the afternoon. We only get 10 work from home days to use in a year so I have to wait for them to tell me I can leave or otherwise use the remaining few days I have left that I have been saving for the very end of the pregnancy. Anyways, I planned on finishing up my the last 4 hours of planned work at home but decided to spend the last 2.5 hours of it catching up on here! LOL. I missed so much in the last 4-5 days. So there are drama boards I need to read about re: drugs and trolling?:smirk: And WELCOME BACK @CindyLouWho427 and @marikkita112! Seeing your return made me super happy since the last time I read up on here you both had just been banned. That was a nice surprise to see today. :)

So my brother and sister-in-law came up to visit on Saturday (they live in Memphis and I am in Michigan) and are staying with me for a little over a week so I have been busy getting the house ready and then visiting/entertaining them. My sister is also in town from Ohio for the week with my 5 and 8 year old nieces. My shower is on Saturday so I am definitely feeling the love from my family being here in town! <3 But alternatively, I am EXHAUSTED. Everything just takes so much more effort these days. Add to that working 10 hour days and I am whooped. I still have all of this work to do now that I am home but the house is quiet since my family isn't here this afternoon and I really could use a nap....

In other news, I broke up with my OBGYN at my appointment on Friday and told him I was switching to a midwifery practice so I could deliver out of their alternative birthing center. It was so hard to do as I am terrible with break-ups (was in an 11 year relationship with someone that took me over half of that time to actually end it). I just hate making people feel bad. But he was actually really great about it, supportive, and had nothing but nice things to say about the place I am going and the midwives there. I love that. <3

Other random: I was supposed to be in Minneapolis this weekend for a work conference but told my work my doc doesn't want me traveling past 32 weeks (I am close enough). Anyways, I just found out that the girls who I was supposed to go with were mugged outside of their hotel last night!  :'( I feel so bad for them! I don't have any details yet but I do know they are physically ok and were put on the first flight home this morning. I feel so bad for them and also a little survivors remorse since I would have been there with them if I had gone like I was supposed to. So scary! The world is making me so anxious and stressed out and I just want to find a way to tune it out like some of ya'll have said and just focus on the baby and counting down to September. Stay safe everyone!!! <3
Honestly, I would avoid Minneapolis at all cost right now even if you weren't pregnant.

This....but....talk to your doctor.  Those aren't digestible. Have you seen the show, My Strange Addiction?

Yes, I've seen a few episodes. Those people are totally crazy though, like eat an entire roll of paper towels crazy!

Our quilt came with slots to slide a curtain rod through and then installed that on the wall. But other quilts I've just hung with thumb tacks.

  • I'm irritated that the landscaper came for the first time this week and I left $60 in cash in an envelope for him.  Turns out it only cost $45 and he didn't leave me with change.  So, next week I'm totally going to leave $30 a small note saying there was no change left from last time, but from here on I'll be sure to leave the exact amount.  Is that tacky? I think he should have checked to see if it was a tip before just takin a, what, 30% tip?? I wouldn't tip much anyways because I think it's too much to even spend $45 on mowing and weed eating our yard! It's less than an acre! He doesn't trim trees or shrubs or anything in that time.  Do you think that's OK?
  • Oooh tough call @RN1stBae! I agree that taking the extra and not letting you know the amount prior to your paying sucks. However they do probably receive tips in their field so it could all just be a big misunderstanding. I know I personally don't know what I would do (or maybe I do- which is to just never tip again and leave exact amount with no note though and def not short-changing them. But I don't like confrontation especially with people who have the power to make my home look nice or not lol). But I am not saying that is the right answer! I am curious what other assertive ladies would do. :)

@fireflygirl12 yes, that is weird. I agree with whoever said it earlier that it sounds like a pica symptom. Definitely mention it to your doc
