@Allisun85 In my experience, the baby nursing was always better for my supply than pumping, so if you can get that time, definitely do it!
@Katm89 I'm sorry you had such a terrible experience! That LC sounds awful! It's definitely worth trying to talk to someone else. It also might be good to try to find a support group while you are on maternity leave. I found that talking to other breastfeeding moms was equally, if not more, valuable than the LC.
@katm89 F that beeotch - you are going to rock at pumping and everything will fall into place once you find the schedule that works for you. You are already a good mom just for the fact that you are already researching and taking the time to even see a LC before baby comes. You got this and don't let haters get you down.
@AliKay20 was reading their board yesterday. Holy hell they can be harsh!
I woke up this morning and the first thing I said to my husband was 'I only woke up because I had to pee TWICE during the night' and proceeded to high five him. Is this my life now?

I only woke up ONCE last night. It made me way too happy
I had the "is this my life now?" moment when I saw a box in front of our door labeled, "Medela."
My breast pump finally came and I was actually excited for it. Who would have thought that I would be so happy getting a package from Medela? #thenewnormal
I think I need to start a new project this weekend. Everything for baby is done except making letters for his name to hang on the wall. I even sterilized all the pump parts and bottles yesterday. My house is clean. Car seat installed. I'm running out of things to do and we could still be waiting a whole month for LO to arrive! I'm not a patient person so this waiting game is getting to me already!
@Stephanie7693 I'm shocked you aren't dilated etc... lol you are so ready and even nesting! I power washed patio today. I'm feeling the push for baby to get here too!
@jacmkelley... I know! My cervix is thinning though, so I guess that's something. We had a small party last night for mine and dh birthday, and everyone kept telling me to sit and relax. I couldn't stop cleaning. My house looked like there was no party before the guests even left lol. I've been nesting like crazy lately, I feel the need to have everything ready at a moments notice. I told my doc I felt like baby was getting ready to come soon, and although he said nothing points to him coming yet, to make sure I have phone numbers on me just in case. When I go, I go fast.
@Katm89 echoing the others in that you will do what works for you, and what works for one person doesn't necessarily work for another. That LC was way out of line and I'm glad you're talking to someone else.
I worked full time and DS1 never had a drop of formula, and I'm back to work now until E comes home from the NICU and pumping three times a day at work. You can totally do this! I will say, you may need to take more frequent pump breaks in the beginning until you see how your supply does, and then gradually spread out the sessions more to see how long you can go in between without it affecting your supply. Your employer has to give you pump breaks, but depending on the type of work you do, you may be able to keep working through your pump sessions. Definitely get a hands free pump bra. It's a game changer. Pumping while driving is perfect for a long commute. I used to do this and would just get all hooked up before I left, threw a cover or blanket or cardigan on, and then unhooked once I got to my destination.
I'm wondering when this whole nesting thing is going to kick in. I haven't done jack shit in the last few weeks. I'm pretty sure I am nesting in reverse which is odd for me.
Food that should be tossed out in the fridge. Meh. Clean laundry in the dryer to fold. Meh. I will just hit fluff one more time. Tossing wrappers of things I have opened. Nope. I'm surprised DH hasn't questioned why I can't even throw away panty liner wrappers and they are sitting on the bathroom counter.
I need to get it together though because the baby shower is in two weeks at our house...

@midwestbaby hahaha I have a load of laundry in the dryer that I've definitely hit fluff on at least 4 times. I had a burst of nesting energy a week ago, but now I am as productive as a sloth most days.

This! All of it!! My house has never looked so crappy!! Can someone please sending the nesting fairy over here? With DD1 I was the complete opposite and all my "projects" were done by now. WTH is my deal?
@midwestbaby hahaha I have a load of laundry in the dryer that I've definitely hit fluff on at least 4 times. I had a burst of nesting energy a week ago, but now I am as productive as a sloth most days.
Laundry is always my biggest issue. Although I have managed to move the load from the dryer into a basket in our room. But that was only to make room for the load that was in the washer that needed to be dried.
I have a couple randoms maybe one f them should have been a wtf weds but whatever 1) husband got layoff tuesday .how Fricking great is that <insert sarcasm> .... if that's not bad enough they told him it was luck of the draw ,literally they drew names out if a bucket. ....then got all apologetic when he said well this is great when we have a baby due in a few weeks....only positive I've managed to find so far is the severance package was better than initially thought and now we won't have to worry about them denying his amt of vacation time he was gonna take off when baby made her arrival..... 2) I'm way too crabby to have my wonderful husband around 24/7 he's driving me nuts already and because I've had a baby at 33 and 38 weeks and am now almost 36 weeks he won't leave me to go do anything lol 3) I'm so over being pregnant it's not even Fricking funny .I want to be able to bend over and play with my 2 yr old, sleep comfortably, eat with out feeling nauseous or puking or getting heartburn (yes I still have all day long ms this far along ) walk without feeling like my pelvis is gonna crack in half and have my damn emotions get in check ....etc etc etc I'm sure u girls feel my pain lol 4) dear dogs, quit acting up because I can't work on our training and exercising as much as I usually do .you're driving momma insane !!!! Ok Thanks for listening I just needed to get that all out to someone besides my poor husband who feels like he let's us down and my mom that tells me everything is fine (yes I know it could be way worse thankyouverymuch) Oh and who wishes bananers blog had a love button!?!...
@karaszoo1 So sorry to hear about your husband's job. What a crwppy way to pick who gets the boot!
I would ask your to husband walk the dogs since he is home all day! Gets him out of the house and the dogs get their much needed energy out. Win win!

I love sundays. Now that it's summer and my kids are home constantly, I have no down time. I got very spoiled this school year having every school day to myself. I love spending more time with my kids, but theres no wine and no breaks! Except sundays. My husband lets me sleep and takes the kids to his parents, or 4 wheeling, or whatever. Just out having fun. I love my quiet coffee time in the morning, and I get so much done when the house is empty. And I can go to the store alone! Lol
@karaszoo1 I'm so sorry about your DH's job. That is awful, especially when it was so random, and they didn't even take your life situation into account! I'm also so tired of being uncomfortable all the time. Yesterday, DS was so sweet and snuggling on my lap at our town's fireworks show. It's something he does so rarely now that he's 2, and I had to keep moving him because LO was all up in my ribs! I just wanted to enjoy the snuggles, and even that wasn't possible. I definitely want to keep this little guy cooking for a few more weeks, but, man, I can't wait to not have to constantly accommodate a little human in my belly.
Anyone else already having guilt over "neglecting" their pup? I used to walk my dog a mile every day and now she's lucky if we go a quarter of a mile 3 x a week. It's just SO hot here and by the time it cools off, the mosquitos are out in full force. I'm also carrying around 12 lbs of baby at this point, so I'm extremely uncomfortable all the time. Makes me so sad for her! I think I'm going to have to hire a dog walker...
Can I just say being an adult SUCKS. We don't get to go on vacation this year because we had to use our vacation money to replace our well earlier this year. I'm seeing pictures of people at the beach on my Facebook and I am so jealous. Just the thought of getting out of our crappy little town for a few days sounds amazing.
@Lynnlove28 We're really missing our vacation this year too! My parents have a house in Beaufort, SC and I think the plan is to try to hop down there if only for a long weekend while baby is still little. But I hate that I won't be allowed to swim for 6 weeks after delivery!
@karaszoo1 That's rotten about your hubby's job! Hope you can enjoy that he'll be around when baby arrives and that he finds a better job quickly!
I have decided that prgnancy brain/mom brain gets worse with each subsequent baby. I'm not sure how I'm functioning. I'm sure people think I need to be institutionalized.
@lotsofsunshine... I think it's a progression with each kid. This is my third, and I don't think it ever went away after having the first lol. It just gets worse with each pregnancy. So far with this baby, aside from the annoying stuff, I've managed to start 2 kitchen fires and backed into my mom's car in my own driveway. Up until now, I've never caused a fire or an accident!
Oh man @Stephanie7693 ! I'm very surprised I haven't started any fires yet. Though, I have come very close! This is number 3 for us too and I agree, it never actually went away after the first two. Only gets worse. Heaven help me if we decide to have another.
We were just talking about scheduling my husband's vasectomy last night! I think we will be starting the process sometime in the fall/early winter. We are done!
DH and I are having a semi-productive 3-day weekend...keyword semi because we walked into Walmart to get a frame for baby's nursery and walked out with an additional purchase.
A Wii-U game system with Super Mario Bros. Was it impulsive? Yes. Justified? Yes, in our eyes. We said this was a push present to each other and can play during our mat/pat leave. I know that doesn't sound realistic but hey, they also have Wii fit games for post labor.
I've been trying to do some research to find the best apps to help keep track of things when baby arrives. So far the ones that have the best reviews online are either no longer available or not available for Android. Anyone have recommendations?
@Car0liiine I used the medela one, but I only tracked feedings(mostly to keep which side I last nursed from straight) and only for a few months maybe. I never did the diaper logs, or sleep logs, or anything like that. I have seen some really really nifty ones tho, but no idea what they are... Not much help, sorry.
@Snaps816 I don't plan on complaining about her. Although, when/ if my midwife asks about that appointment I will let her know that I disliked her and was very disappointed by the consultation and learned nothing. I kind of want to move past it. Alot of what she said wasn't wrong... it was just the way she said it and because shes affiliated with my midwives I don't want to say something that's taken the wrong way and defends my care givers. We finished our childbirth classes and the last session was about breastfeeding and I learned so much. I also got a bunch of contacts for other LC if there is an issue after the baby arrives. So, I feel alot better than I did that day.
@Katm89 I found talking to LCs about pumping and going back to work was like trying to get e penguin to do your math homework. They just don't get it and don't know enough about it. The best thing to do is to just do what works for you and makes for a happy mommy and happy baby. Personally, pumping was not enough to keep up my supply, I needed those hormones that DD gave me when nursing, and subsequently my milk dried up after about 2.5 mos back at work. It made my period come back and after that my supply never came back. It put me into serious PPD because my goal was to BF for a year, but my body literally wasn't having any of it. I'm still going to aim for a year this time, BUT if the same thing happens at least this time I'll be prepared and know what to possibly expect.
As for building a stash, the best time to do that is while you're still home. I had about 600 oz in my deep freezer before I went back to work. There were points where I has seriously over-supply, but I used it to my advantage to just pump pump pump and build up my stash. I know people say it's not good or healthy, but for me it's what gave me the stash to extend BFing for 1.5 mos after my milk dried up. I got a clogged duct maybe 2 or 3 times, but I took care of it immediately and nothing turned too bad for me. *knock on wood*
I'm sorry for how that LC treated you. Talk about a lack of professionalism. I give you so much credit for staying as cool as you did, I think I would have been off the deep end and attacking her from every angle!
@SkiChic626 I spoke with my childbirth educator about it and she had so much experience with pumping and going back to work and she even offered to help me after the baby is born free of charge. I think LC focus too much on latch and right after baby... but then fail to realize most moms go back to work. I will definitely be building a supply while at home.
