Walmart does infant passport photos and they guarantee them too. It's awkward as hell trying to hold up a newborn with your hand under a black blanket though! (Our daughter was less than a month old when we got hers done and will likely do the same for this one too) the passport only took a couple weeks to get here. We live in a major city and her long form birth certificate (which is needed for a passport) took less than a week to arrive. Her SIN card was applied for in hospital (a form we checked off) and her health card number was given to us before we left the hospital.
I've been cramping for the past hour and idk if it's just cramps or contractions. I tried keeping track of them but it's like a constant cramping sometimes it has its peeks, other times it's just a dull annoying pain. I'm debating if I should call L&D just to see what they say or just go to bed and see if I wake up to them being worse or water all over the bed. Lol. It's confusing because I don't know what I'm supposed to be feeling for.
Although tonight would be the night I go into labor because that's just how my luck is. Hubby is out of town, Mom is out of town and I got sunburnt SO bad today on my legs.
Is it pretty common for it to take 3 months to get a birth certificate? Any STM (or FTM who know about this stuff) have experience getting a passport for a baby like ASAP? It's my understanding I need a birth certificate before I can get the passport, is that correct? (I'm also not a US citizen so I don't totally know how it all works here/if it's different than where I'm from. And my husband obviously knows nothing..) I can't understand why it would take 3 months to get the birth certificate though...
We got ours pretty fast (a week or so). That being said, it was wrong and we had to redo everything and submit it to the state capital for a correct one, and that took longer. I have no idea if you not being a US citizen would make it take a little longer or not. The reason that ours was incorrect, was just because MH and I weren't married at the time, so they had her listed with my last name and only me as the parent. We wanted her to have his last name, and him be on the birth certificate....so that is why we had to fill out additional paperwork, have things notarized, send it to the state, etc. Since you wont have that issue, my guess is that it shouldnt take too long to get your baby's birth certificate.
@sboston06 Sorry about getting rear-ended! My truck got tapped yesterday by a moron (who was straightening out his car while parking) and then he took off, while I was waiting for my husband at the airport. So annoying! Glad you and baby are fine! And if your carseat was in the car, it will have to be replaced. Luckily, it is usually covered under most insurance plans, so let your insurance know right away and get that taken care of.
So I never ended up getting my membranes sweeped on Tuesday. Doctor was a total douche didn't even check me did the Doppler, measured and walked out. Fast forward to a minute ago my water just broke.. Ah 38 weeks 1 day

Right there with ya sister! Menstral like cramping started earlier in the week. I have my next visit Monday which will be weekly from now until my DD. I get them throughout the day but the pain increases to abt a 3 to 4 with 1 being the most mild while in bed. From what I have read with other women in similar situations, baby is most likely getting into your pelvic region. I lay here in bed before getting ready for work typing this and I can tell you the cramping sucks, baby is moving ALOT but I can also breathe better which leads me to believe he has dropped! If you aren't already, keep drinking PLENTY of water since I was informed that alleviates the cramping somewhat but AS ALWAYS call your doctor if you aren't sure! I hope you feel better! Not much longer now!!!
@PhoebeJune1984 luckily the car seat itself wasn't in the car. I've been paranoid about putting it in there and have it at home for DH to bring after the baby is actually born.
Thank you all for the support! Last night I felt ok but was still paranoid and kept waking up to feel baby move. I suppose once it's born I'll be up and watching it sleep.
Anyone experiencing menstrual cramps that is what I had been feeling for the past two days and my water broke 5 hours ago... I brushed it off because i wasn't have the cramps in cycles it was just a lingering pain. So it could very well be a sign of early labor or poop.

Super random but I've been putting off going to the eye dr in case my eyes have changed during pregnancy and don't want to order glasses or a bunch of contacts that won't be the right prescription anyone have any insight on a)if this is true b) if it is how long I should wait after baby is born to go in?

Maybe this goes in the brag thread
In all seriousness, I have heard that your eyes can change while pregnant, or at least your vision can be off due to the extra pressure in your body. I waited last time. If you're having headaches or we strain though, you could ask your eye doctor and see what they suggest.

My eyes have gotten worse too and I was told the same thing about pressure. Planning to see te eye doctor during maternity leave- hoping the vision is as bad as it seems to have gotten...

I had retinal detachments in both eyes 8 years ago, so mine are pretty terrible right now. I had to go to the eye dr because of being blind without glasses or contacts. My script didn't change much but it always has a slight shift whenever I go, pregnant or not.
@onesassybishh Silly me never read your other post properly! Best of luck! :-)
Edit: Im a long time glasses wearer and Ive noticed my vision has gotten a bit worse. I mentioned it to my doctor and she said it was completely normal during pregnancy and it should go back to normal a couple of weeks after birth.
@onesassybishh GOOD LUCK! @Backbypopulardemand I never heard that.. I went to the eye doctor by coincidence at like 34 weeks and my vision hasn't changed. I have crap vision to start with though. If you feel like your eyes are different I would maybe wait 6-8 weeks after birth. Thag seems to be the golden number for everything else!

I debated about this for a month. My annual appt was due back in early May. I kept thinking do I really want to figure out how to get to my appt with a newborn. Should I risk it? So I asked my ob and my optometrist and they both said to get it done. My optometrist is super cool and said if I had any vision issues after he would buy back my contacts and do a follow-up for free. I didn't really have a change from last year so he said I was probably on the safe side. He did mention that if it had been dramatically different he might have suggested I wait to get retested a couple of months after the baby comes. I don't know if all optometrist are as friendly as his practice though.
@Backbypopulardemand I agree with @theshannondee, 6-8 weeks after birth seems like the best idea. My eyes are terrible but they didn't change too much at my PP appointment after my first baby. I did wait a couple of months before I went though.
@onesassybishh good luck! Hope you have a smooth labor and delivery!
@Backbypopulardemand I have always had terrible eyesight-I feel like it's actually gotten better since I've been pregnant. I'm stupidly hoping it'll stay this way, but my annual appointment isn't until October. I'm with PP, I would wait a couple months to go in, just in case.

My eye dr told me to wait a couple of months after birth with DD, so I did, and my prescription changed even more a year after she was born. I need to go back in, but I am going to wait until this baby is around 6 months before I go in.
I got my eyes checked about a month after DD @Backbypopulardemand by that time the swelling had gone away for me and yup I needed a new prescription. My plan is to do the same after this LO is born. If you can still see for a bit, babies actually need their eyes checked too at about the 6 month mark to check for reflexes and other stuff, you could do them both at the same time if that works for you too! Also if you live in Canada all eye exams before 2 years are covered by healthcare, so no excuses:)
@Backbypopulardemand Ive gone to the eye doc and didn't have changes to my vision during each of my pregnancies, but I have heard that pregnancy can affect your eye sight. I'd wait till the end of the year and go to be safe. Usually insurance is good for the calendar year and then restarts at the new year!
