@DachshundMomma I haven't shaved in about 6 weeks and I'm seriously debating whether or not to bother in the next four weeks before my DD. It took me 1.5 hours to do everything last time and it left me breathless and I had to lay down for a while haha
@DachshundMomma@LF93 I hadn't shaved in weeks and just couldn't take it anymore, therefore I took a bath and boy did that make things a lot easier, plus I got to soak my swollen feet and ankles in warm water and relax with a good book. It forced me to relax and for some reason having smooth legs again made the world seem right.
@adough27 A bath actually sounds pretty good right now, that's on the cards for this evening. I might get to shave after all! If I wasn't so afraid I'd get a wax and get it over and done with. How will I handle giving birth if the thought of a wax makes me cringe with pain! lol
Just remembered that I had a dream last night that I delivered the baby emergency/Kourtney Kardashian style. I was like, "Oh shit we need to get to the hospital...OH SHIT SHE'S COMING NOW!" and then I just pulled her out.
How do you girls still manage baths? Maybe my tub is just small, but I can't get out once I get in! Lol....baths have been out for several weeks since getting up without slipping is such an ordeal...

@winnie1122 I fill the bath halfway and then get in and it's nearly overflowing. Thankfully I have handrails on the side of the bath otherwise I wouldn't ever be able to get out!
@winnie1122, I fill it half way as well and keep emptying out the cool water and replacing it with hot depending on how long my bath is. Also, I use the walls to support me as I get in the tub and DH assists when I need to get out.
My boyfriend is driving me crazy. He knows how prepared I like to be at all times. He keeps telling me "We have plenty of time to do that" Nooooo we don't. I want to have the baptisim organised for baby as soon as possible after he's born. He has family in the UK and I have family in Dublin that we need to notify at least 8 weeks before hand to ensure they can make it. We can't leave it until 4 weeks after baby is born to organised if we want the baptisim to be 10 weeks after he's born. Ugh.
I've been on modified bed rest for about 2 weeks for high blood pressure. My BP was fine at my last appointment so my doctor was thinking about taking me off to let me go back on work, BUT I DON'T WANNA GO BACK TO THAT HELL HOLE! If she ends up taking me off, I may fib a little bit to dh just so I don't have to go back to work... I've been enjoying my time off.
@LF93 I've been telling dh that he NEEDS to get his TDAP shot, he keeps telling me that we have plenty of time... same with getting all of the furniture in the nursery together.. "we have plenty of time" NO! WE ARE RUNNING OUT OF TIME, DAMNIT!
I'm with you on the running out of time...we still need to move into our house but don't have a finished kitchen or our occupancy permit yet (we've been building the last year and planned to be in months ago)...getting really frustrated with all the hold ups...I just want to move in and get ready for baby!
@amyspohr I understand how you feel, my husband and I just moved into our condo last week after 7 months of delays (we were supposed to move in end of December). I am rooting for you to be in before LO arrives!
Is it pretty common for it to take 3 months to get a birth certificate? Any STM (or FTM who know about this stuff) have experience getting a passport for a baby like ASAP? It's my understanding I need a birth certificate before I can get the passport, is that correct? (I'm also not a US citizen so I don't totally know how it all works here/if it's different than where I'm from. And my husband obviously knows nothing..) I can't understand why it would take 3 months to get the birth certificate though...
@rakel88 I actually have been looking into that because I have to renew my green card soon and include our daughters birth certificate with it when she is born. I have two friends who gave birth recently. One filed for her daughters birth certificate online and it came in 2 weeks. The other did a paper application and made a mistake that she had to fix. Her daughter is 9 weeks and she just got it. 3 months seems like a really long time!
@rakel88 I know sometimes those timelines can be worst case scenarios. I've never had a passport actually take as long as they say it will, but it can depending on how backed up they are.
@shaylalr that's encouraging. I want to book an international flight ASAP but can't book it without a passport number. Can't get a passport without birth certificate, can't get that without a baby, obv. Just hoping it'll actually be sooner than the 3 months that I heard it would take.
@sboston06 that's usually been my experience too with these kinds of documents but since it would be this little human's very first official document idk if that would make a difference.
My friend gave birth in the first week of March in Texas. She received the passport before he was 4 weeks old. They took care of all the paperwork in the hospital. I'm not sure if it varies from state to state.
@rakel88 I feel like you'll get the birth certificate pretty quickly...you'll also need a SSN for a passport, which I also imagine you'll get within a couple weeks but the passport might take you some time. I believe there are certain cities that you can go right to dept of homeland security and fast track the passport process but it costs quite a bit more. Otherwise, passports typically take about a month. I'd guess between the BC, SSN and passport, you'd be looking at a couple months?? Hope that helps!!
@TiffRox81 the social is separate?? Here I thought it kinda came with the BC... Ughh
Often it is just a check box on the birth certificate form, but each state and/or city is different, depending on which entity issues the birth certificate.
So today baby wasn't moving and I had a non-stress test. I'm apparently having pretty frequent contractions and not feeling anything. The nurse said it wasn't anything to worry about but I'm still curious. Does this mean labor will start soon and they'll intensify? Maybe it's just wishful thinking but I'd thought I ask to see if anyone else has had this?
I got bumped from behind when I was stopped at a red light today. I called the doctor and she said I don't need to go in unless I start feeling cramping or bleeding, etc. I am just freaked out and completely emotional about it all. And to top it off, I was stupid and didn't get the other person's information because I was so upset and not thinking straight. Baby is still kicking and I'm not in any pain. Just really really upset with myself. This week has been absolutely horrible and I'm ready for it to be over.
@sboston06 I am so sorry your got rear ended! I'm glad you and baby are ok. This happened to me a few weeks ago. I was sitting in the back of my parents car and we were rear ended by an RV at a stop light. My Dr. told me that I did not need to go in unless I hit my stomach (which thankfully I didn't) or I was cramping. Don't be so hard on yourself! It's ok if you didn't get their info because your insurance should include uninsured motorist coverage in case for when this stuff happens. Hang in there! It's almost Friday!
@sboston06 sorry to hear you got rear ended but it sounds like you're both ok. Try not to be so hard on yourself - even when not pregnant, that's totally something a lot of people would do just from the initial shock of getting hit, and then add "pregnancy brain" to that.. It happens! Like PP said, your insurance should have you covered either way. Be kind to yourself
Thank you @Kellyj103. That makes me feel a lot better. I am having lots of BH but have been having those all along. I'm going to drink a ton of water and hope the rest of the evening is quiet.
Glad it sounds like it was just a little bump and you & baby are doing ok @sboston06. Don't be so hard on yourself...it's hard enough to think straight in those types of situations when you're not dealing with pregnancy brain!
@Heathereaddy my bff had this with her baby a few months back. We had a few false alarm and they would put her on the monitor and say "oh you're having contractions...." i would say it was like 2 weeks after the first false alarm before she started labor. So hang in there. She did go in the morning she went into labor and had contractions (the ones she couldn't feel) during her nonstress test. It was like 6 hours later when she began to feel them and then a baby 12 hours after that. So either way!
@stellaluna14 After my stretch and sweep and being told I'm at 4cm today I'm eyeing my stack of thank you cards too.... should probably get those done...
@DachshundMomma I always shave in a bath. I am upset when hotels only have showers because I don't know how to shave well standing up or with water spraying on me.
@rakel88 I don't remember exactly how long the birth certificate took, but we successfully applied for a passport when DD was 2 months and it came in a few weeks. Infant passports are the best. Good for 5 years, and it says DD is 1 foot 11 inches and it has a newborn photo in it. :-) It IS a pain to get a proper passport photo though. DH insisted on doing it ourselves and we were sent away the first time for multiple issues with the photo.
@rakel88 I know the place we went to apply recommended a few places. You have to find one that specifically does babies/newborns though. Lots of places do passport photos, but babies is a whole other thing. You have to have their face aimed directly at the camera against an all white background without being able to hold up their head in front of a wall.
