So I just started my first pp period. Oh my goodness my abdomen hurts. Has anyone else who had a c section gotten their period yet? Was it painful?
I had my first pp period at 8 weeks (I'm not breastfeeding). Although I did not have a c section I had cramps so bad that I was nauseous and just wanted to lay down for the entire week. It's no fun.  I'm hoping now that I'm back on birth control they will be better going forward.

I had mine at 5 weeks.  It wasn't terrible.  Lighter than normal but I still had the migraine per normal.  The most frustrating for me is that at 6 weeks I had Mirena put in and I've bled, very lightly but it still counts, every single day since.  I'm now 11 weeks pp.  I think I went through another period but not even positive since its basically been a 6 week long one.  WTH?
  • First day without my postpartum girdle since DS was 8 days old. I feel a little naked, a little fat, and a little freaked out that my baby is 4 months old! Holy crap!

  • I feel like ALL of my hair is falling out! No matter how much I brush it, there's always a clump of hair.

Omg me too.  I take a shower and find a Shih Tzu hanging out in the drain!!!  I even have a spot on the front of my head that looks really thin.  This passes too right?!

After my twins it took 9 months. It does go away though.

Ugh, yes! It's normal for me to lose a lot everyday but this is getting ridiculous. My husband gets grosses out by all the hair I leave around the house. It's the worst when I take a shower.
  • The hair loss is crazy. I've already had to call maintenance to clean out my drain, and I only started losing hair a month again. I don't know how I have any hair left.
  • I'm losing my hair too! I honestly don't know how I have any left on my head.
  • @amangels2 maintenance just came yesterday to clear our drain too!
I feel like mine just started up again. Is this still post partum hair loss? I thought it could also be from not having a haircut in 3 months, or possibly the change in seasons?
  • So glad the hair loss is normal. I was coming here to ask about it and found all your posts. Just this past week I started losing so much hair.

  • Any other mamas on BC pills experiencing bleeding between periods?  It's like I'm having a period between the periods. Lol. Wtf.
  • I know postpartum periods are often irregular but mine comes like clockwork every 2 weeks and lasts for exactly a week each time. Is anyone else experiencing something similar? Other than the frequency of it, nothing seems out of the ordinary.

I'm on the pill and I posted about how I'm getting periods between the periods. Lol. It has been a few months and it's slowly starting to follow the pill pack. Now I'm only getting one period a month but it's still coming early.

I'm on the pill and I s gone from having two every month, to having none, to having a light one. Go figure.

  • I've had "Go back on the pill," on my to-do list since we switched full-time to formula but haven't gotten around to it. I gotta get that done!!

Mine is still so irregular I wouldn't even call it a period honestly, but Savannah still nurses like a newborn so....

  • As some may recall, I've had weight issues since giving birth.  I lost the weight really fast and it's still dropping.  I am 5' 4" and have gone from a pre-pregancy weight of 120 down to 108.  I haven't weighed that little since high school.  I downloaded Myfitnesspal to see what I should be eating and how much and according to the app, if I wanna gain .5 lbs a week I have to beat 1,700 calories a day.  That's with zero physical activity so throw in the breastfeeding and activities and that's over 2,000 a day.  Right now I average maybe 1,000 a day.  I have no desire to eat and if I try and force it, I get sick.  I'm at a loss and I'm started to feel dizzy and sick all the time.

I am down close to 17lbs. from my pre-pregnancy weight and haven't even thought about exercising.  I notice that I get this way sometimes too.  When I do, I try to push lots of fluids and choose fluids like gatorade or just water.  I don't worry too much about the sugar content at this point.  After that I focus on high protein foods.  Chicken, beans, peanut butter, etc.  Initially I thought trying to do more carbs would help, but they never worked.  Staying hydrated seems to be key.  I haven't checked, but I think it is likely low BP. Other than that, I only eat when I am truly hungry, which means I didn't really have dinner last night, buy I ate a huge lunch.  Eating when your not hungry is a definite way to not feel good, so we just have to make the best choices when we are hungry
  • Anyone else having problems with herniated disc's and siatic nerve? I've been in PT, had injections, take pain meds and wear a brace on my leg. This also causes bladder issues. I feel like I will never be normal again. By the end of the day I feel like I'm walking on broken knees and feet from being out of whack. I've also tried the chiropractor. I love my daughter so much and would do it again over and over but gosh I'm ready to feel better!

I've been similar. Dropped the baby weight and then some quickly. Now I feel deflated even though everyone says I look good. It makes me feel like I have some sort of body dysmorphia. I haven't worried about what I eat, but when I was at the doctor recently they said my cholesterol was kind of high. I try to eat well, especially now that I'm trying to find new foods to make for Jackie, but it's difficult and forget having energy for working out. I seem to have leveled out around 160-165lbs (I'm 5'11"). I had to buy new clothes that fit though.

I've been struggling to keep weight on too! I'm down to 125 on my 5'9" frame. All I have been hearing is that I look sick. In my case I feel like I'm eating all the time but apparently I can't keep up with breastfeeding.
  • I'm struggling with losing the weight.  Levi is almost 6 months and I still have a good 10lbs to go before I get back to pre pregnancy weight.  Then I'm going to aim to lose that other 10 I was working on before that.  I go to a boot camp type gym 3 days a week and I'm trying to be better on portion control and what I'm eating.  I had gained 50 lbs though and I'm down 40 so I shouldn't complain.  It is a little hard though when your coworker had a baby only six weeks ago and she's lost all baby weight plus another 15 already.

Yeah, she sucks!  You're awesome!!  Keep at it, you're doing great!

@StayingFocused I'm with you, I'm still 6 lbs over pre-pregnancy weight but was 3 lbs over my normal weight when I got pregnant  (I had to take a few months off from working out bc of a surgery and was in the process of losing weight when I got pregnant). So I need to lose 9 lbs total. I only really started losing weight like 6 weeks ago so I'm not sure how these other women dropped weight so fast. (I gained almost 40 lbs total and was still up like 20 lbs up until like 6 weeks ago.) I eat pretty healthily but normally (3 meals a day although lunch is sometimes small). Maybe that's why it's going slowly?

What are you doing for clothes? I go back to work in 3 weeks and I'm not sure if I should stay with maternity pants for now or buy some bigger clothes. I feel like even if I lost 6 lbs I still couldn't fit into the pants I wore before, I was pretty fit and my tummy is still so soft and flabby.
  • I'm with you guys too, I'm really struggling with constant hunger since Savannah doesn't STTN so I am exhausted and breastfeeding which has made me ravenous.

I was great in the beginning, lost all the baby weight instantly and now have been creeping back up which has been really difficult and frustrating. I looked better 4 weeks PP than I do now :s I also find that my tummy is much flabbier than it was pre-baby.

I caved and bought a couple of cheap pants from Old Navy in a size bigger for the time being. (Luckily my job is business casual so I don't need expensive suits or anything)

  • So, anyone else still waiting for their first postpartum period? Or is it just me? I am still breastfeeding and it's not likely I truly miss AF or am ready to try for #2 yet, just hoping something's not wrong. And that maybe I'm not alone

I've had a couple periods, but only when I fist started the pill again. Nothing for the last two cycles. I'm usually messed up for a while after having a baby, lol. The only way my period comes back regularly is if I'm not nursing and not using birth control.

I breastfeed, and I have not yet gotten my period either.

  • Breastfeeding and no period yet. Although I've felt a little crampy lately.
  • Breastfeeding still and no period yet. I have thought it was coming once or twice and had minimal bleeding but it was so irregular and short I don't really count it as a period.

TBH I'm not expecting it to start until she stops nursing so often. I'm gonna be so pissed if I get my period back and I'm still waking up 2-3x a night toBF!!

  • I am exclusively pumping and have now had my period twice, once right around 4 months and then again about 6-7 weeks later...definitely not regular yet.  My older sister did not get her's for 11 months.  I wouldn't worry if you are still BF. I was pretty pissed when mine came back, but we will be trying for #2 in the next couple of months so it works out ok for us.  I just remember the first one being extremely heavy, but short.  Second one still short and not quite as heavy.
  • I'm breastfeeding and got mine a little over 2 months pp. It's been pretty regular. I was pumping and nursing the first week or two but exclusively nursing since then so I was surprised.
  • Breastfeeding, on mini pill, still no period. I am in no rush  :)

After my twins it took 11 months I was only pumping a couple of times a day until 8 months.

YES I am still shedding and it's getting embarrassing, I've developed a little bald spot in the front of my head where it naturally parts. I can't just pull my hair back in a pony tail now, I have to where it down and curly with gel to hide it. Fortunately it's winter so if I have to run out without my hair done I just throw on a hat.
Meanwhile, the hairs just continue to come out on the comb and in the shower. Are there any vitamins that might help? (Besides prenatal which i'm still taking.)
